Chapter 29: Here Begins the lesson...

"DUCK!" I shouted as I dove to avoid an energy ball, from who? I have no idea. It could be the blonde guys trying to kill us or Chris and Wyatt trying to kill them. The fight was on and weird, there was no personal strings attached to this fight, we had never known them. They had shimmered in and began their assault only minutes ago.

"Pahras!" Wyatt shouted through the confusion, searching for me, " DRAKE!"

I looked up and rolled out of the way as fireballs scorched the floor where I had been! I stood in time to feel the fireball fly past my ear and I levitated into the air avoiding a couple of athames Wyatt and Chris had throw, but the other guys shimmered out.

"Pahras!" Wyatt said, pulling me down, " Are you okay?"

"Yeah, what about you guys?" I asked, checking Wyatt and Chris, who seemed to be holding his arm, " Chris, what's wrong?" I asked.

"My arm. It's nothing, Wyatt should be able to heal it." Chris said, groaning as I moved it.

"Anybody else getting scared that maybe these guys are going to kick our asses...again?" Chris asked.

"Wyatt, what's your issue?" I asked.

Wyatt looked at me, " What?" he asked.

"You're the most powerful witch in the world, swe...Wyat, why are you holding back?" I asked.

"I'm not." Wyatt shrugged.

"Then someone seriously misquoted someone else!" I said aggravatedly, walking to the Book of Shadows and flipping to a page about the Stillman sister, " That's the only engry and I'm guessing this is their descendants."

"Why're you being such a bitch?" Wyatt asked, causing me to look at him, " Look, sorry, but we're doing our best."

"I know." I said quickly, " but we're failing, we got these assholes about to kill us. They're way more powerful than their moms."

"Yeah, I got that." Chris said angrily.

I looked at him and sighed, " Sorry. But there's this thing where I really don't want any of us to die."

"Sure, but what are we going to do? Put ourselves in glass tubes?" Wyatt asked.

I chuckled.

"Oh crap, you're laughing." Wyatt said, " At one of my jokes."

"I know, a miracle isn't it?" Chris chuckled.

"Hey!" Wyatt said.

"I mean, we just...We're finally back to being a family. I screwed up and I'm finally back in the family now and I really need you guys now. If I lose anybody else, I think I'll die." I sighed, sitting on the couch.

Wyatt and Chris exchanged confused glances.

"We're not leaving." Wyatt said, crouching down in front of me.

"Wyatt do you remember me as a kid?" I asked.

"Yeah, we've known each other since forever, what about you?" he asked.

"I've always just hung onto whatever came along. Peter and Caly weren't there alot, because they were 'new age' parents and I've always had you or Chris or Henry or Prue or whoever..." I started.

"Pahras..." Chris said somberly.

"...And I left because I needed to make sure that I was someone. That I wasn't just being who everyone saw, that I could stand by myself. I was tired of being the one who was wounded or whose parents died or moved away. That's why it hurt when you said I was weak. Or it sounded like that. I needed to be Pahras, not the Charmed Ones. It hurt when I left." I said sadly.

"That's why you left? Why didn't you just say that?" Chris asked, sitting next to me.

Wyatt sat down in front of me on the floor, " I know how you feel. I felt so helpless without my powers. It's hard to be powerless, but it's worse to have a lot of power." he said.

"Or to be the guy who will never have enough power." Chris said, causing us to look at him.

"I think we all grew up." Wyatt said with a half-smile.

"I think we're all growing up." I smiled, " Scary, huh? I've got a job."

"Yeah. We didn't get enough of a glimpse of the future to prepare us for this." I said quickly.

"I don't think we need to see anything else." Wyatt said quickly.

"I'm sure we shouldn't." Chris said.

"Chris! Wyatt! Pahras!" Piper called from downstairs.

We looked at each other and Chris stood, " Ummm, I'll go." he said, bounding across the attic and down the stairs.

I wiped my face and looked down at Wyatt. Wyatt reached up and grabbed my chin, kissing me lightly. I kissed him back this time. Passion seeped from our kiss. Emotion, Empathy, desire...everything was in that one kiss.

A voice cleared it's throat and we looked up to see the sisters and Chris watching us. We wiped our mouths and smiled up at them.

"We have something that you might wanna hear." Piper said, diverting her eyes from Wyatt's. We all took a seat and Piper and the sisters preceded to tell the story of Wyatt and Chris. The whole story of how Chris had come back in time to save the family from Wyatt. Super-badass Wyatt. How he had succeeded but died. How the world had been changed by Chris and saved from Gideon, an Elder. My contempt for Elders had been ungrounded, unsupported before, but now I had every right. I had been watching Wyatt and Chris through the whole conversation. I had listened for my name. I had waited for them to say that they were just kidding, but they didn't. Chris, while obviously nervous for his brother, showed a smile of pride and Wyatt who had shown little signs of fear in the past had it written all over his face. That his little brother had saved him front becoming what he had sworn to fight was almost too much. My name never came up. I had drawn the conclusion that I had either died or never been. More the first one than the last.

"So, Gideon made me evil?" Wyatt asked, looking down, " I was evil?"

"And I saved us?" Chris asked excitedly.

"And I didn't exist?" I asked.

"Gideon was the bad guy." Piper said.

"And yes, you did, Chris." Pheobe smiled.

"Pahras, I'm sure you existed. You just..." Paige stopped.

"Died?" I asked, " So, why didn't you tell us this a long time ago?"

Piper shrugged, " We just needed to wait until the right time." she said.

"Is this why you always told me that my powers were dangerous?" Wyatt asked.

Piper nodded, " Yes, but any power is dangerous."

"But mine are especially dangerous, huh?" Wyatt asked, standing.

"Wyatt, where are you going?" Paige asked.

"I just need a walk." Wyatt said, orbing out of the room.

"That went better than I expected." Pheobe sighed, walking to Piper, " He'll be okay, he just needs time."

"I know." Piper said sadly, " How are you guys with it?"

"With what?" I asked, looking up for the first time.

"The truth." Piper said.

"Wasn't my future, I wasn't there." I said quietly.

"Pahras..." Pheobe said quickly.

"No, I just...where was I?" I asked, " And this just proves that Wyatt's gonna die. The strongest will die."

"You would rather it'd be me?" Chris asked.

"No, if it had to be somebody I'd rather it be me." I said angrily, walking to the book, " I don't know, this just isn't the time to know this."

"Don't worry, it will be." Mitch smiled, standing across from them. Mitch smiled and hurled an energy ball at Pheobe, who ducked!

"Hey!" I said, raising my hands to blow him, but he shimmered out and came up behind me, kicking me foward and over the stand. As I fell, the sharp end of the stand impaled me.

Mitch looked on, shocked by what he'd just done as Mark and Michael shimmered in behind him.

"Good job!" Michael said, as he flung his hand, sending Chris and Wyatt, who'd just orbed in, flying, " The book!"

"Oh no you don't!" Piper said, raising her hand, but Mark flew into the air and kicked her, causing her to fall to the floor, " It's working."

Mitch reluctantly picked up the book and held it close, flipping through the pages quickly and Michael hurled energy ball after energy ball at us! He threw energy balls at Wyatt and Chris, who were already downm and I swung my hand around, blowing the energy ball up, causing the only good guy left standing, Paige, and Mark to fly backwards! A few windows shattered and I found myself watching them say a spell! I couldn't hear the exact words, but I got to my feet and raised my hand in one final attempt to blow them up, but nothing happened. Mitch looked at me in surprise and Mark raised his hand to blow me up, but all I saw was blue orbs and I knew that I was safe
