The door to the attic flew open and Wyatt entered, carrying a very bruised Melinda. Chris was behind him, helping Brian carry an unconscious Drake. Caleb entered and slammed the door behind them. Melinda and was laid in the middle of the room beside Drake as Wyatt began to heal them both. Chris, Brian, and Caleb walked over to the Book of Shadows and began flipping through, trying to find any entry on Birnaz, the Soul Sucker. Wyatt couldn't completely heal either of them because the door blasted off its hinges and Birnaz stood in the doorway. He came in quickly and Wyatt stood. Birnaz raised his hand and began sucking the soul out of Wyatt! Chris had an axe and advanced towards Birnaz, who lifted his giant arm and swatted him away. Caleb and Brian charged him, but he merely threw his hand up, causing them to smash through the window! Melinda and Drake stood up, holding hands. They both waved their hands at Birnaz but little happened to the behemoth. At that moment Wyatt fell to the floor, lifeless!

"NO!" Phoebe Halliwell said, sitting up in a cold sweat.

Chapter 104: Ghosts

In an attempt to escaped the madness of home life, I found myself going into Wyatt's practice to bring him lunch. I hadn't cooked it but I'm sure he'd like it. I got it from Halliwells and for desert I got him some of his mother's famous cookies. As I entered his office, I noticed that he was with a young blonde woman. When I opened the door, she hopped off his desk in her mini skirt and smiled to me. Wyatt smiled to me too and stood.

"Hey, babe!" Wyatt said, "You brought lunch." He smiled.

"Yeah." I said, walking over and handing him the bag.

It was then that I noticed that the woman had giant boobs and a chipper smile to go with the mini skirt.

"This is India. She's my new assistant. We all have on, Len and Alanna have one." Wyatt smiled, opening the container.

"Wyatt's told me so much about you!" India smiled, "He tells everyone how lucky he is."

I smiled to her, "We're both lucky. Quite an interesting work outfit." I smiled.

"I got it half-off!" India smiled.

"Oh, I know." I smiled falsely.

"I better get back to answering the phones." She smiled, "It was nice meeting you." She said, leaving the room.

I walked over and shut the door, "First Alanna and now India? Should I be worried?" I asked.

"Of course not." Wyatt said, eating, "That's like asking if I should be worried that your ex lives in the same condos and works with me."

"Len isn't into me again." I sighed, "Len doesn't sit on my desk with her coo-ca out."

"She's friendly." Wyatt chuckled, "Besides, I love only one guy. Emphasis on guy."

"Fine, I trust you..."

"Thank you."

"I don't trust her yet." I said quickly.

Wyatt sighed and sat back in his chair.

"Relax, I'm not asking you to fire her or anything. I just...I'm feeling a little threatened." I said.

"Well, she's out of luck cause I have a thing for black guys." Wyatt smirked, "Now can I get a kiss?"

I smirked as I walked over and kissed him.

"Where's our daughter?" Wyatt asked.

"You're just asking that?" I smiled, "She's with Brian."

"And that's a good idea?" Wyatt asked, "I only say that because he just got out."

"Of the looney bin?" I smiled, "Just for an hour. I had to get out of the house. I feel like something bad is about to happen."

There was a buzzing noise before India's voice said, "Mr. Halliwell, your aunt is on line 2." she said.

"I wonder which one of us she's talking about. My only aunt lives in Oklahoma." I smiled.

"You're a funny smart-ass." Wyatt said.

"I'm going to go. I have errands before I have to get back to pick up Peyton." I smiled.

"Bye babe."

"Bye." I said, leaving.

"Hello? Aunt Phoebe? What's—I have one more appointment but...yeah, I'll be there." Wyatt said quickly, "See you there." He said, hanging up.

-

"We had a great time." Brian said, walking to the kitchen, "She's a great baby, wasn't so fussy either."

"Glad to hear it." I smiled, putting Peyton in her playpen.

"So, have you thought about having more?" Brian asked.

I looked to him as he entered the room again, "I don't think that's an option." I said quickly.

"Was it like a one-time thing?" Brian asked.

"Not sure. It was for me." I said.

"You don't want any more kids?" Brian asked.

"I do, I just...Stuff happened and I can't have another baby." I said quickly.

Brian looked to be about to say something, but didn't. He walked over and did something I wasn't prepared for. He put his arms around me and hugged me. I was surprised. I welcomed it though. I needed a brotherly hug.

"Do you really think you'll never have another baby? Why don't you adopt?" Brian asked, "It worked for me."

"We've talked about it and we might." I said, "I just want my own baby so bad and to adopt a non-witch into this lifestyle..."

"Little Henry is a mortal, isn't he?" Brian asked.

"Yeah and he's vulnerable every time some demon attacks." I frowned, "I just don't want that for some child."

Brian nodded.

"Besides, I have completely lost hope." I said.

"You haven't? This is you not losing hope?" Brian asked.

I smiled, "You're a jerk." I chuckled.

"Runs in the family." Brian said, "Speaking of, Caleb really needs my help."

"I haven't seen him in so long. How is he?" I asked.

"Raising a baby himself." Brian said, "He's really busy, I'm helping him input some data and do a little work."

"Maybe he'll hire you." I said.

"I don't know. It's a little out of my scope." Brian said.

"Are you kidding? It's totally in your scope. This is perfect! He needs help and you need something to do." I said, "Besides, it would give you an excuse to get to know dad."

"Yes, because dad was all about his job." Brian said.

"You'd be surprised." I smirked sadly.

"Was it bad? Growing up with Dad and Mom?" Brian asked, "Did I dodge a bullet?"

"Dad was a business man. Mom worked too. They were okay. We were left alone and had to bond."

"You and Caleb?" Brian asked, "Enter the Halliwells."

"They were always there." I said, "I love Mom and Dad. I miss them."

"Do we have any other relatives?" Brian asked.

"A few." I said, "They live in Central America."

"Are they witches, too?" Brian asked.

"Not sure." I frowned, "I never asked."

"You gonna be alright if I leave?" Brian asked

"So, you're saying we got demolished by a giant demon?" Melinda asked.

"That's what I saw." Phoebe said.

"And the demon you described is not in the book." Chris frowned, slamming the book, "A demon that predates the book? Is that possible?"

"I don't know, but it happened at night." Phoebe said, "It was today."

"Maybe we can find him at Magic School." Piper said, "There's a lot of information there."

"Maybe we're looking in the wrong kind of book." Wyatt frowned.

"What do you mean?" Paige asked.

"Well, if it's not in our book, couldn't it be in Drake's Book of Shadows." Wyatt asked.

"You mean his family's Grimmoire? I suppose." Paige replied, "I'll look at Magic School." She said, orbing away.

"Okay, I'm going to make some of the strongest potions we have. Chris, hand me the Book." Piper nodded.

"Sure," Chris said, carrying the book to her, "Should we tell the Summers?"

"I really don't want Drake in this." Wyatt frowned.

"Honey, he's already in this." Phoebe said, "He needs to know. So do his brothers."

"I'll round them up." Chris said, orbing out.

"Am I the only one who is extremely worried? We don't have a plan. We don't know who the demon is. We've got nothing." Melinda said sadly.

"Mel, don't you give up yet." Wyatt said, "We're the freakin Charmed Ones."

"Easy for you to say, you aren't the weak link." Melinda frowned.

"What?" Piper asked, "The weak link?"

"It wasn't Chris or Wyatt that was injured." Melinda said, "Looks like I'm on the chopping block."

"Don't talk like that." Piper frowned, "You are one of the most power witches in the world!"

"So was Aunt Prue." Melinda frowned, "So was Warren."

There was an awkward silence. None of them knew quite what to say until Wyatt spoke.

"You're on crack if you think I'll let anything happen to you or my husband or anyone else in this family." Wyatt said angrily, "This is just another fight."

"Is it?" Melinda asked.

"Yeah." Phoebe said, "It is."

"I'm going to get started on those potions." Piper said, walking to the door, "I'll get Leo to watch the kids at Magic School."

"I didn't mean to make Mom mad." Melinda sighed.

"I'll talk to her." Phoebe said, leaving the room.

The next second, Chris, Caleb, Brian, and I orbed into the room. I had been with Peyton, who we'd dropped off at Magic School. Caleb dropped Peter off, too.

"Hey, what's up?" Caleb asked, looking at his watch, "Chris said this is important. I have a meeting in..."

"Phoebe had a vision of half of us dying." Melinda frowned.

"Any way you look at it, I won't be making that meeting." Caleb sighed, "What exactly killed us?"

"Demon. Big." Melinda smiled.

"Did he have fangs and horns?" I asked.

"Yeah, you've seen him?" Wyatt asked.

"Only in my book. Birnaz." I frowned, "The hunters brought him into the world."

"How did hunters do magic?" Chris asked, "Can mortals do magic?"

"I'd say so. I'm not sure how it works." I shrugged, "They'd probably need to sacrifice something. It's dark magic."

"And it came from our book?" Brian asked.

"Haven't you heard? Your family is big in the dark arts." Chris smirked.

"Are you Voldemort?" Caleb asked.

"I need to get the book so we can know more about this guy." I said, "Who wants to take me?"

"I want to see the book." Brian said.

"I'll bring it back." I nodded.

"I'll take you." Chris said.

Wyatt looked uncomfortable at his eagerness. Truth is, so was I. We hadn't really been alone in a while. Sure, we'd talked, but we both had a lot going on.

"Down boy," I said, taking Chris' hand, "It's a whole new era." I smiled as we orbed away.

"That is really annoying." Wyatt frowned.

§

At the Condo, I found the book in a chest by my bed. I kept it there since it was stolen. I sat it on the bed and stuffed sheets back in the trunk before standing and turning to see Warren. I took a few steps back and the door closed. Chris walked over to the door and knocked and I told him I needed a minute. He said he'd check out the rest of the Condo and I replied that it was okay. Warren stood, staring at me. I couldn't find words. I didn't know what he wanted from me and why only I could see him.

"A guy dies and you go mute?" Warren asked.

"You can't be here." I frowned.

"Really, cause I think I'm standing right here." Warren smiled.

"Stop! I don't know what's happening." I said, "What is it that you want from me?"

"I don't know." Warren said, "Isn't there supposed to be an Angel of Death or something?"

"Don't speak him up." I said, "Why are you staying?"

"I...don't know." Warren said, "I'm not an angry spirit. Well, no angrier than usual."

"You've got to stop. I'm going crazy seeing you." I frowned, "You can't keep showing up."

"You think this is fun for me?" Warren asked, "Stuck between life and death...but I'm here and you have to deal with me!"

"No! I'm not accepting this. You're not dead. You're not!" I said angrily.

"Is this why I'm still here? Cause you can't accept that I died?" Warren asked, "Wow, the world really does revolve around you."

"If it did, you wouldn't be dead." I said sadly.

"Listen to me...If I had to die, I died in a way that made me proud and should make you proud too!" Warren frowned, "I love you, always have and always will. You brought something to my life that nobody else did. You made me feel at home and loved before I even had a family. You changed my life for the better and there is no other way I'd rather die than trying to save you."

"You've been such a big part of my life for so long...I don't know if I can live without you." I frowned.

"This demon, Birnaz, is coming for you. You have to be ready. You have to let me go." Warren said, "You have to be better than this."

I watched him intently. I then wondered was my inability to let him go the reason he was still here? If it was that, then I was selfish. I'd always been a little selfish, but never had I been selfish enough to keep someone from moving on. I love Warren, as a friend, and he loves me. It'll never change, not even in death.

"I love you." I said with a lot more fragility than I wanted.

Warren reached up and touched my face, "It's time to let go." He smiled.

"You...touched me." I smiled.

He stepped back and looked behind himself, at the door. He was seeing something that I wasn't. He turned back to me and I nodded. He turned and walked into the door, disappearing. I looked away from the door and turned back to the book.

"Are you okay? I heard you talking to someone." Chris said.

I turned to see Chris at the door, "I was just saying goodbye." I smiled.

Chris was studying me. He was trying to figure out what to say. I knew that much. I was near tears. He must have known what to say next.

"So, this is my room where you and my brother makes babies? Interesting." Chris smiled.

"I'm one big pile of nut these days." I chuckled.

Chris looked shocked.

"Because I see dead people." I frowned, "I don't think it's a new power. I think my power was doing something, holding onto something. I just had to let it go."

"You're my best friend, but I was worried about you for a minute there." Chris said, "But I knew you'd be okay."

"I'm not okay yet." I said, "There's the little matter of a giant demon coming our way."

"You know you're my best friend, right?" Chris asked, "I would never let anything bad happen to you."

"I know and that goes double for me." I said quickly.

"You're like a brother to me." Chris said, "Despite sleeping with you."

"Yeah, despite that." I smiled, "I don't regret what happened with us. I regret the timing and its effect on the family, but if there was one person I..."

"I know. Me too." Chris smiled.

I turned and grabbed the book, when I turned around, I saw the demon behind Chris! I pushed him out of the way and got the full blast of the energy wave he sent out! The blast sent me flying backward and smashing into the wall above the bed!

-

"Where are they? They should have been back by now." Wyatt frowned.

"Are you worried they're in trouble? Or are you worried they're making trouble?" Melinda asked coyly.

Wyatt walked over to the sofa, behind her. They were in the sitting room with Caleb and Brian, who were patiently waiting on the return of their brother. Both brothers looked up at Wyatt, who was more than jittery.

"I..." Wyatt stopped.

"What's wrong? No comeback?" Melinda asked.

"Something's wrong." Wyatt said, "I need to go there."

"What? No. They were just going for the book." Caleb said.

"I can feel it." Wyatt said.

"Me too." Brian frowned, "Something went wrong."

Suddenly, Chris orbed in with Drake draped around his neck and the book under his other arm. Caleb ran over and grabbed the book from under his arm. Wyatt grabbed Drake and helped them over to the couch. Drake wasn't moving, except for slow, labored breaths. Chris walked over, about to start talking to Wyatt, who was screaming, "What happened?!" but Chris didn't get any words out before there was another explosion and everyone was thrown off their feet! Wyatt, Chris, Caleb and Brian all stood to see that Melinda and Drake were on the floor. Bits of mirror had flung itself into Bianca's mid-section. She was still breathing, but barely. Birnaz stood in the middle of the room, waiting for them to make a move. Even Wyatt seemed a little afraid of this gigantic demon!

"Wyatt, Melinda, what's..." Piper said, coming around the corner and into the solarium.

The sisters accompanied her and stopped as she did. Wyatt screamed for them to get out or meet them in the attic. The sisters orbed out and Wyatt grabbed Melinda off the floor, commanding Chris and Brian to grab Drake. Wyatt headed for the stairs with Melinda, followed closely by Brian and Chris with Drake. Caleb was in the rear and was headed up the landing when the demon sent a fire ball hurling at him and the book! Half of the blast sent Caleb back against the wall and the other half bounced off the book! Caleb got to his feet and made his way up the stairs. When they entered the room, they were greeted by the sisters, who ushered them to the book and the candles they had set up. When Caleb came in, Wyatt shut the door with telekinesis and locked it. Before he could get a chance to heal Drake or Melinda, the door burst off its hinges! The demon stomped in and stood before them, ready to kill them all. Wyatt, who had been crouched beside Melinda and Drake, stood.

"This is it." Phoebe whispered, "We've got to do something!"

Her sisters nodded and Piper began blasting him with her powers, trying to freeze him, causing explosions on his body and causing heat to shoot from her hands to the demon, who showed signs of being hurt, but quickly shrugged them off. Paige orbed objects from everywhere at him, but nothing seemed to make a dent. Phoebe ran up, jumping into the air while he was stunned and kicked him, causing no damage. He swatted Phoebe into her sisters! Drake and Melinda were standing shakily and threw their hands up, trying to take him off his feet, but nothing happened. He threw up both of his hands and began sucking the soul out of them. Wyatt gestured toward Excalibur, causing it to fly out and stick into the demon! The demon wailed, taking out the sword and throwing it to the ground. The demon frowned as he flamed out of the room. Melinda and Drake felt the effects and dropped to the floor. Wyatt and Chris moved to them and began healing them.

-

Leo had come and fixed my wall above the bed. I told him I'd paint it. It was the least I could do. The dust had settled a little bit and I was sure that we'd just gotten our asses kicked. Wyatt was out and had taken Peyton with him. I smiled. We could be dead right about now. We were lucky to get away with just bruises. Somehow, the bruises didn't heal. Well, Melinda's and mine didn't. I wasn't certain how we could possibly beat a soul-sucker. Only the darkest magics could dig him up. He was one of the things that both sides had agreed should be confined. I was scared of him. He did a lot of damage in a small amount of time. If the sisters hadn't been there, we could have died. We could have been where Warren had gone. I was mad that Warren had to die, but I accepted it.

"Look, daddy's painting." Wyatt said at the door with Peyton strapped to his chest.

I smiled as I stopped painting, "Isn't she getting a little old for that thing?" I asked.

"It helps us bond." Wyatt said, "Are you okay? After everything."

I nodded.

"I didn't get a chance to heal all your bruises." Wyatt said, "We never got a chance to talk about Warren's ghost."

"I think my telepathy allowed me to see him somehow." I frowned, "I just...I can astral project. I can move things with my mind. I can even hear thoughts sometime. But it really sucks that I couldn't save him."

"But you did." Wyatt said, "Before he met you, he was a demon. Purely a demon. Because he met you, it gave him a second chance."

"That's what he said." I smiled, "I thought I was going crazy, ya know. Seeing him again."

"Baby, you're not crazy." Wyatt chuckled, "How about we name the next baby after Warren."

"What about the P tradition?" I asked.

"Screw it." Wyatt said, "We're not conventional."

"Yes, we are. How about the middle name." I said, "Did...are we talking about another child?"

"Why not, Peyton's almost walking." Wyatt smirked.

"You know we can't...I thought you thought we can't..."

"I believe in us, baby." Wyatt smiled, "So the odds are against us...haven't they always been?"

I smiled to him and put the paint brush down, "That's right there is why you never had to worry about Chris or Warren or any other man." I said kissing him, "I didn't forget you." I said, kissing Peyton.
