Chapter 28: Wounds

After my power trip, I wasn't sure who I was anymore. I was pretty embarrassed about the whole thing and for the first time, I felt like I understood Wyatt. I figured that evil me was a lot more evil than even I thought. I mean, I didn't kill anyone, but it's because I didn't try to. And I could have done so, but I was always interrupted. The sight of Kyle and Peter didn't soothe me at all, though. I hadn't seen Kyle, but I was now walking beside Peter as we walked through the park.

"so, how are the Halliwells dealing with your 'incident'?" Peter asked.

"Um, they're referring to it as the 'incident' and ignoring it." I said, looking around, " But I can't really blame them."

"I'm still a little worried about you." Peter said. I looked at him, " What I mean is...you know..."

"No. Everyone's right, she's been dead too long to feel comfortable here again." I said, looking away from him.

"So, umm....What's Wyatt said?" Peter asked, ignoring the topic he, himself, had brought up.

"He's pretty annoying..." I chuckled, " Worried, I guess. Why?"

Peter chuckled, " I need grandkids." he said, and I sighed, " I mean, hell, Tristan, Chris, Wyatt. I don't care. I just..."

"Yeah, all the little mixed grandkids...They'll have great hair." I chuckled, " But no...seriously, there's love. Why'd you say Chris?" I asked, avoiding his gaze.

"That kid's liked you for years now and you like him, I can tell." Peter said, " I always thought of him as more like son than Tristan. That kid's a total jack-ass." he said, causing me to look at him, " Was. Was a total jack-ass."

"Chris is...engaged." I said quickly, " And he's like my brother."

"What about the guy from the cemetary? The one I saw you with that day when I shimmered in while you two were..."

"Kyle? It's a friend type thing." I said quickly.

"So, that brings it back to Wyatt and Tristan?" Peter smirked at me.

I stopped, " I hadn't thought about it. Lately it's Wyatt." I said.

"Is that why it set you off?" Peter asked.

"What?" I asked.

"When he said you were weak?" Peter replied.

"I've always know that they think I'm weak, but hearing it is something different." I said, looking at my watch, " I'm late for work."

"How is work? Gosh, we've just started catching up." Peter said, " I see Spencer's in town."

"Work is good. Spencer's...memoryless." I shrugged and hugged dad, " Thanks, dad." I said, walking away.

Wyatt and Chris found themselves in the attic, making a potion. There was a lot to say, but where would they start? Things had been slow, then suddenly they were...boring. Life was livable, though. Less demons, but more boredom. Chris and Wyatt had been tight the last couple of years, but as hard as it was to say, life was more hectic as it used to be and they had barely been in the same room at the same time.

"Burdock root." Chris said, throwing some into the pot.

"Linvinswort." Wyatt said, adding a dash.

They were making the potion to fight a new demon, one they were keeping from Drake. Wyatt's mind swirled with thoughts. Peter was back. And he thought it was a little unnerving to see he and Pahras having a day with each other. It was really strange. Chris, however, found himself conflicted. He loved Drake, but he also loved Bianca. He wanted to marry Bianca. He'd always loved Drake, but they weren't meant to be and he knew it. Suddenly there was a blast of purplish-blue orbs and the Elders appeared in front of them.

"Greetings, Halliwells,"Sandra said, " How are you?"

Chris and Wyatt stopped and moved over to them.

"We're good, you?" Chris said.

"We are fine. We have come to see if everything is alright." Roland smiled.

"Yeah, we're all doing great." Wyatt said, looking between them.

"Where is the third?" Roland asked.

"Drake?" Wyatt asked.

"Drake's at work." Chris said, " Why?"

Sandra looked around at her fellow Elders, nervous, " Well, we are wondering if you had heard yet." she said.

"Heard what?" Wyatt asked.

"The new threat." another Elder, one that looked younger than he should, Kevin, said.

"New Threat?!" Chris said, shifting, " What new threat?"

"The three." the woman said, " More simply, the Evil Charmed Ones."

"Evil Charmed Ones?" Wyatt asked, " How come we've never heard of them?"

"Because until recently, they were just some witches, but they've been gathering powers. They are smart." Roland said.

"So, what are the names?" Chris asked.

"Stillman." Kevin answered, " Mark, Mitch, and Michael."

"Stillman....I've heard that name before." Wyatt said, walking to the book.

"Their mothers took on the Charmed Ones. They would have won if..." Roland looked at Chris, " Unforseen circumstances wouldn't have popped up."

"Unforseen circumstances?" Chris asked.

"Yes." Sandra said quickly.

(DING DONG)

"Who's that?" Chris asked.

Wyatt walked to the window, " I don't know, I can't see anyone." he said.

"We have to be going." the Sandra said, " Blessed be." she said, orbing away with the rest of them.

Wyatt and Chris walked downstairs and opened the door to find a baby on the steps. Wyatt picked it up and walked into the house with it.

"What is going on?!" Chris asked, " This is all a bit much."

"Whoo-wee, this baby is rank." Wyatt said, " How about you change him while I go and...ummm, to the club."

"Nope, you touched him first." Chris said, orbing away.

Wyatt looked down at the bed, " Okay...I need to...(the baby began to cry), yeah, to call somebody." he said, picking up the phone.

I rushed through the door, putting my keys on the table and running upstairs.

"Wyatt!" I shouted up the stairs, " What's wrong!"

And that's when I first heard the baby's cries. Wyatt walked from around the corner, carrying the baby.

I chuckled, " What's with the kid? And where's the demon?" I asked.

"I never said anything about a demon." Wyatt said over the baby.

I looked at him slowly, " You're not serious! You called me away from work to do what? Watch you take care of the baby?" I asked.

"No, I really need your help." Wyatt said, " Someone left on the doorstep and I called Henry to see if he can find the father or, you know, mother and..."

I grabbed the baby, " And you wanted me to watch the baby?" I asked.

Wyatt nodded.

"You owe me." I said, bouncing the baby. A wiff of something caught my nose, " Maybe if you changed the poor guy, he'd cry less."

"I'm not good at these things." Wyatt said.

I rolled my eyes and whispered under my breath, " Good thing we didn't have a baby yet." and he looked at me.

"What?" he asked.

"Ummm, nothing, do you have diapers?" I asked.

"There was some in this bag." he said, flashing the diaper bag.

"You're a doctor and you can't change a diaper?" I asked.

I laid the baby on the couch and changed his diaper.

"You know how to do that well." Wyatt smiled.

I nodded, " Hey I lived with you long enough. Somebody had to change your diapers." I joked.

"Funny." he chuckled, " So, what now?"

"Is there any formula?" I asked.

"Huh? You mean milk?" he asked.

"Powdered milk in the bag." I said and it materialized in my hand.

Wyatt stared.

"Leftover...." I said, " And I'm still getting little voices, your charges, so you might wanna see if they need help."

"I'm good here for a while." Wyatt smiled.

There was silence.

"Hey, he's quiet now." Wyatt said.

"Here, hold him until I get back."

Wyatt looked at me nervously, " Where are you going?" he asked.

"To heat the milk. Just in the kitchen, I can't orb, remember." I said, walking into the kitchen. I heated the milk and shook it, then went back into the living room. I stopped when I saw Wyatt standing there with the baby. He was so cute, holding the baby and playing with him and I honestly saw why he was the father of my future kids.

"You know, we can tell you're there." Wyatt said, stilllooking down at the baby.

I smiled and walked over to them, sticking the bottle in the baby's mouth, " Well, you were just..." I trailed.

"I...um, I'm sorry." Wyatt said, looking at me, " I didn't mean that you were weak, I just felt that way."

"Just because you didn't have powers?" I asked, " And I get it. I am the weakest. It honestly doesn't matter anymore."

"You're not."

I looked up at him, " What?" I asked.

"You just might be the strongest of us." Wyatt smiled, " That's why I love you."

A warm feeling ran through my body, " I love you too." I said. We both stared, then started to lean in, but before we could kiss, there was a knock at the door.

"Hey guys." Henry Jr. said, walking in, " This is the baby?" he asked.

"Yeah, did you find anything?" I asked, blushing.

"I found the baby's mother is really sick. She's not expected to make it." Henry said sadly, " The father is a local, but I'm having trouble pinning him."

I looked at him, shocked, " Ok, um, how about grandparents, aunts, uncles?" I asked.

"Nope." Henry said, " None that live anywhere remotely outside of jaul."

"So..." Wyatt said slowly.

"Oh, well, we're on it. We've got guys on it, so there should some leads soon. Or, you know, the guy." Henry said.

"Henry, how are we supposed to do this? We have lives that don't involve kids, babies, or marriage." I frowned.

Wyatt shifted the baby over his shoulder, " So, how long do we have to play house?" he asked.

"Not long, just until I can find the dad and talk to him." Henry smiled, " Which shouldn't be too long since I'm gonna scry."

"Okay, well, use the book and our stuff. I mean, it's yours too." I said, gesturing upstairs.

"Alright, please be careful with the baby, damaged good and all." Henry said, orbing upstairs.

I turned to Wyatt, " So, dad, what are we going to do now?" I asked.

Wyatt looked from the baby to me, " How about Truth or dare?" he asked.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Bassinet." Wyatt said, waving his hand and a bassinet appeared in front of him. He sat the baby in the bassinet and looked at me, " Before you almost died, you were going to leave, why?"

"I-I was tired." I said, " I was dating this guy who I was using to get over this other guy and the other guy was apparently a drunk." I smirked.

"Harsh, but true." Wyatt said.

"So, how about you, truth or dare." I said.

"Truth." Wyatt smiled.

"How did you really feel when I came back?" I asked.

"Hopeful." Wyatt said without thinking.

"Hopeful?" I asked.

"Well, the future changes. My hope was that it didn't." Wyatt smiled.

"Good answer." i said quickly, " Do you ever wonder what would have happened if we never saw the future?"

"Not really. I just figured that would have been our future." Wyatt shrugged, " You think it wold have ended differently?'

I shrugged, " It's al a little hazy. I mean, what happened between us? We waited until we were thirty-two to have kids? I just don't know..." I frown.

"Maybe we decided to wait. Maybe we broke up a few times, does it matter?" Wyatt asked.

"I just feel like there is so much we don't know. Something bad is happening right now, and Wyatt, something bad is going to happen" I said fearfully.

"You have no idea." A voice said, prompting us to turn around. A large, yellow demon stood across the room, his flesh looked like leather and he showed his fangs as he smiled.

"Rude!" Wyatt said, vanquishing him with an energy ball, " We're in the middle of a conversation."

"I think we need a puppy." I said quickly.

"Huh?" Wyatt asked.

"Puppies turn into dogs, then dogs warn their owners when there's trouble, it's all very mechanical." I said, walking to the baby.

"Well, we could to spells." Wyatt said.

I looked at him, " You can't use magic for everything." I said, " Especially with your powers."

"I control them." Wyatt said.

"Sometimes, I wonder about that." I said, noticing his face contort into a frown, " I just mean, I worry."

"YOU worry?" Wyatt asked.

"Wyatt, I can feel the trouble coming. Maybe we should be like Buffy and build an army, complete with decoys and things."

"You really need to stop watching tv and reading comics. So, okay, we're conversing...strange." Wyatt chuckled, " Maybe sometimes we can do this outside the house."

"A date?" I asked.

"Yeah." Wyatt smiled.

Just then, Henry orbed back in, " I found him." he said.

"Huh?" we both said in unison.

"The father." Henry said, " Found the father.
