Tales from Bentonville, Chapter 87

In the morning, Dane and Colt awakened just ahead of their alarm. They spent a couple of minutes making out before jumping into the shower together to wash away the crust from last night's activities. Neither was offended by the taste of the other's mouth because it wasn't much different from that of his own.

They were getting their bicycles from the garage when they saw Phyllis Ennis on the ground by her back step. They sprinted over to see if she was okay.

"Help me!" Phyllis called out in a slurred voice.

At first the guys thought that the old lady must have been hitting the bottle because of her indistinct speech and glazed eyes. But there was no odor of alcohol coming from her, so they concluded that she must be having some kind of medical emergency.

Dane whipped out his cell phone to call 911 for the rescue squad. Within a very few minutes, the county ambulance arrived. Darrin jumped out of the passenger side and John out of the driver's side. The two paramedics worked quickly, but methodically to check Mrs. Ennis' condition. Their equipment transmitted her vital signs to the hospital while they prepared to transport her to Cosgrove.

As the ambulance drove out of sight, Colton expressed a wry thought:

"I wonder what she'll find to criticize us for this time."

"Oh, our queer ways will probably slow down her recovery," Dane answered. "Hey, speaking of time, you and I are going to be late for work. Let's take the car and I'll drop you off at school. It doesn't matter as much if I'm not on time since my boss rarely is."

So, the boys put their bikes back and jumped into the car.

Colton was only about three minutes late and he was still ahead of some of the regular custodial help. His boss, Ed Harkness, raised an eyebrow, but said nothing.

"Uh, sorry about being late; you know that's not my style," Colt said.

"I'm sure that there was a good reason," Ed said.

"Well, we found our neighbor on the ground and had to call for help."

"Was that what the sirens were all about? Which neighbor?"

"Yeah, Mrs. Ennis."

"That old crone is a piece of work! I'd have been tempted to leave her there."

"You wouldn't do that!" Colt exclaimed.

"No, I couldn't do that even to her, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't be tempted!"

Colton grinned at the thought that he and Dane were not the only ones who considered Phyllis Ennis a royal pain in the ass.

As he had anticipated, Dane was not in trouble for being late either. In fact, he was the first to arrive. He got busy skimming the pool and doing other maintenance chores while waiting for his boss to show up. When she did, she apologized to Dane for leaving him alone to get the pool ready to open for the kids.

"I was running late in the first place and then my mother called to say that her Aunt Phyllis was being rushed to the hospital and she wanted me to take out the dogs and get them fed while she drove to Cosgrove. Of course I had to do it. You must have gotten away before all of the excitement."

"Well, actually, Colt and I were there until after the ambulance left. We're the ones who called for it."

"You boys are the ones who helped her? That's really Christian of you after the way she's been treating you."

"Um, how did you know about that?"

"Dane, this is a very small town. Surely you've lived here long enough to know about the gossip mill. Great Aunt Phyllis is its main contributor. She called Mother last night all upset because her grandson had turned against her and you and your cousin were responsible for it. Well, as a wise man once said: `The Devil gave us relatives; thank God we can CHOOSE our friends.'"

Dane laughed in appreciation of his supervisor's attitude. It was a relief that she didn't hold the same views as her great aunt.

Since it was Friday, the Johnson boys were heading for Camelot to spend the weekend. Greta usually made dinner for them before returning to Bentonville for Saturday and most of Sunday. Today was no exception. She had cooked two chickens on the rotisserie knowing that whatever was not eaten that evening would be welcome as a quick lunch for a couple of teens who wanted as much playtime as possible.

Her grandsons told her about the big to-do at the scout meeting and that they had offered to withdraw quietly to keep things from falling apart.

"I'm really proud of both of you for putting others ahead of yourselves! But, I think that you shouldn't have to leave the organization. I've half a mind to stage a protest. We'll see. I don't like to have my grandsons discriminated against. In fact, I don't like to see anyone being the victim of prejudice."

"I hadn't heard about that old witch stirring things up, but I did hear that she is in the hospital." Greta continued. "Sylvia Porter called me to say that she saw you two out there when the ambulance arrived. She thought that you had called for it."

"Yeah, we did," Colt admitted. "Ed said he wasn't sure but that he'd have been tempted not to call if he'd found her. She must get under more people's skins than ours."

"That she does," Greta assured him. "She's always been outspoken, but she seems to be getting worse with age."

After their grandmother had departed for town, the boys put on their swim trunks and took the boat for a spin around the lake. On the way back, they spied Joel and Alex on the pier of the Masterson property. Of course they had to stop to catch up on what was happening.

Joel told the guys that his grandparents were hosting a weekend get-together for some of their old friends who were coming to town, so he and Alex would be heading back to Bentonville in a few minutes.

"Don't do that!" Dane exclaimed. "Call your folks and tell them that you're staying with us. Dave and Dustin are coming over in the morning and will be here until Sunday afternoon. It'll be like old times. There are going to be fewer of those when you two go off to college in the fall."

Alex and Joel agreed that it would be a lot more fun staying at the lake than going back to Bentonville, so they pulled out their cell phones to let their families know where they would be.

The four guys sat around the living room at Camelot catching up on each other's lives. Colt was fascinated by Joel's near obsession for reaching majority age. While he was in no hurry at the moment, he could certainly empathize with Joel's desire.

When it came time to bed down for the night, everyone chose to sleep in the loft near each other. With the windows open, there was a pleasant breeze circulating though the upper area. They were all at ease about stripping down in front of each other. They had been naked together many times. The misunderstanding between Joel and Dane had long been forgotten. Dane had no problem with Joel and Colt seeing each other's equipment. In both cases it was a pleasant sight!

Although teen libidos run on high speed most of the time, the two couples cuddled and talked without finding it necessary to end up having sex. As Dane drifted off to sleep holding Colt in his arms, he felt like an old married guy. Yeah, love was more important than sex ^Ö well, at least sometimes!

Dave and Dustin arrived at around 9:00 on Saturday morning. They had seen to the morning milking and had done a few addditional chores before making the drive to the lake. They found the other four guys having breakfast.

"Pull up a couple of chairs, dudes. There're plenty of waffles and bacon in the oven keeping warm and I know how you farmers love your second breakfast." Dane giggled.

"You soft, city guys would too if you got up at a decent hour and did men's work." Dustin shot back laughing.

The conversation continued with the "farmers" updating their buddies about life in the county. The "city" boys agreed that there was a lot of hard work done by those who produce the food that most Americans take for granted.

"It's a thankless job," Dave said at one point. "You have to have lots of money invested in land and machinery and you might look wealthy on paper, but have only enough in the bank to get by. You can't be comfortable until you sell off your stuff and then you don't have the life that you wish for."

"I think that there is something going on. Some lawyer came as we were leaving." Dustin interjected. "He said something about representing Albers Associates. Does that mean anything to you, Alex? I hope someone isn't trying to buy Bob out again."

Alex and Joel exchanged knowing glances.

"Uh, well, the group of which you speak has recently acquired the farm adjoining the Manson's. We, uh, they paid the old widow more than the corporate farm had offered her and they plan to lease the land to Bob."

"You guys are awesome!" Dave yelled.

"What do you mean," Joel asked feigning surprise.

"Don't pull that innocent look on me, Teague! Your boyfriend made a slip of the tongue and we already knew that your families had formed some kind of corporation to control the stock in your family's company."

"Okay, you got us," Alex smiled. "My lover here came up with this scheme after we helped clean up following the big storm. He couldn't get over the way that Jared's eyes lit up while talking about their dreams of expanding their organic farming operation. I think that he fell for that cute boy."

"Not that it would do any good," Dustin spoke up. "Jared is as straight as an arrow. Dave and I both love him, but as a little brother.

"He is a cutie, but there is no way that I'm going after anyone else but you, Babe," Joel assured Alex.

Joel and Alex had to take time out to exchange a kiss. That led to a bit of tongue wrestling cheered on by their companions.

"Get a room!" Dane snickered.

"Hell no, do it right here so that we can give you a hand," Dustin suggested.

"Sorry about that," Joel blushed. "I simply get carried away when I taste Alex's sweet lips."

"Well, we can all have a bit of fun in the sun this afternoon," Dane assured the others.

The guys spent the rest of the morning playing on Joel's jet-skis and water skiing behind the Johnsons' boat. They got their usual looks of admiration from girls who didn't know about their orientations.

After stopping for lunch around 1:00, they decided to relax in the sun and work on their tans and possibly each other. It started out with six guys lying nude in the secluded part of the property, but quickly turned into three couples messing around.

Colt asked Dane to lube him up with lotion and Dane complied. Of course, he didn't simply apply sunscreen to the parts that Colt couldn't reach for himself. Colt got aroused and pinned Dane down rubbing his oiled body all over his lover. That set everyone else off too.

Making love around each other was nothing new, so no one was embarrassed. Quite the opposite; everyone found it stimulating. Dane and Colt moaned into each other's mouth for several hot minutes. Then, as their hips bucked, they sent gobs of sticky fluid between them. They kept grinding until both were too sensitive to continue.

Dave and Dustin were nursing each other's cocks while their hands were roaming freely over their bodies. Joel and Alex were also in the 69 position. Their sounds of slurping and moaning filled the air taking up where Dane and Colt left off.

It didn't take long for the four of them to reach their climaxes too. They exchanged deep kisses with their boyfriends while descending from their sexual high.

Having spent their current loads, they all applied more lotion and took naps in the sun.

Since they had eaten the chicken for lunch, the guys got showered and dressed in the early evening to drive to Cosgrove to eat. Joel insisted that he and Alex would treat the group to a good Italian dinner.

At the Cosgrove hospital, Logan and his family were visiting his grandmother. Her near-death experience had not sweetened her outlook one bit as far as they could tell. She ranted about "those queers" who lived next door until Logan could no longer hold his tongue.

"Colton and Dane are the ones who found you and called for the ambulance. If it hadn't been for them, you might not be here! No one could have seen you from the street."

"I suppose that they are going around telling how they heroically saved my life. They'll probably want to get an award from the Boy Scouts for what they did."

"No, Mother," Chuck Ennis said wearily. "They haven't been telling it around town. Sylvia Porter put it on the grapevine because she saw them when the ambulance arrived. I'm sure that everyone in town knew about it before you got to the emergency room."

"Well if it hadn't been for them, I wouldn't have been so upset. They brought my stroke on! Thank God for the nice Christian young men on the rescue squad that saved my life. Those Johnson boys could learn a thing or two from them."

"No doubt they could," Chuck smiled.

He didn't want to be accused of bringing on another stoke by upsetting his mother with the truth. He knew that Darrin and John were living together openly as gay partners. That would certainly throw Phyllis into a tizzy and possibly cause her to have a relapse. He placed a restraining hand on his son who was about to open his mouth to set the record straight.

"We need to leave now to let Grandma rest," he quickly announced.

Seconds later, they were heading home. He explained to Logan on the way that there were times when some things needed to be left unsaid.

Authors' Note: Thanks to Cameron, Paul R, Rad, Jim We, David B, Luiz, Jace, Carroll, Buz, Joe, Vann, David S, and Tom H. The latter two are my faithful editors!

Please remember Cameron in your prayers. He's going through a rough time as a number of you have.

I'm working on a couple of short stories involving adult men and another possible high school series. I'll keep you informed. I don't think I will post any of them until after I finish Tales.
