Prelude:

“Grandpa!! Grandpa!! Please tell me a story!” pleaded my 12 year old grandson.

“Okay” I smiled at his enthusiasm.

I allowed Danny my grandson to sit on my old and frail lap while I thought of how to start the story. Luckily he didn’t weigh too much.

I only get to see my grandson once or twice a month when my daughter comes by to see me at the nursing home. They have been worried about me since my stroke. I try to tell her I am in great shape for being 99 years old, but she can see right through that. Lately I hadn't been feeling that well and knew my time was almost up.

Last night I called her and asked if she could come by, that I needed to tell her and Danny a story that I hadn't thought about for a long time. I explained to her that it was important and that it would deal with my past. I have always refused to speak about it before when asked. I told her that I never forgave myself for not telling it to her mother and didn't want to make the same mistake again. For when I die this story will die with me if not told, and it would not be fair to her. At the same time so many other things would also be lost if I didn’t tell this story to them. I warned her that the story would be a little scary but that I thought Danny could handle it.

“So what is the story about grandpa” asked Danny.

I looked at him and then found the words starting to pour out me that I have always had trouble with in the past. “This is a true story of when I was your age Danny, and it takes place aboard the largest ship in the world at that time” I said.

“I know you have heard of this ship before because it is also I dare say the most famous ship in the world. Also they recently made that movie about it too. Now you must know that this story is a little scary and sad because it takes place aboard the…”

Part 1: “The First Night”

(April 9th, 1912)

Chapter 1: The Great News

I stood in awe starring at the massive boat named Titanic. My parents had told me it was large, but still I was amazed and flabbergasted at the immense size of the ship!

“It's the largest ship in the world” my dad had told me, Jane, and Mom a few days ago. Still I was not prepared for it to be as large as it was.

It was just a week ago when my dad had come home with his great news. “Josh,” called out my dad as he came through the front door and saw me playing. “Where are your sister and mother?” he asked

“There out back hanging the laundry up to dry.” I answered.

“Can you get them, I have great news to tell all of you” My dad said excitedly.

When we all had gathered into the front room, dad explained the great news to all of us. “We are going to America!” he said.

Dad had explained it like this. - As we knew already, he was born in America in a small town in the state of Ohio. His parents who came to the States from England in 1874 were looking for a new life in the land of the plenty.

They ended up settling in Ohio and started a farm, which was a whole new life compared to the life they had in England.

Two years later my dad was the first born of six children.

1889 was the year of a bad drought, and also a real bad epidemic of Small Pox sprung up in their small community. Luckily the county doctor caught it quickly before it spread too far, but not quick enough for my dad's father and 2 of his siblings. According to my dad, my grandfather tried to fight off the disease but in the end he was just not strong enough.

That year I lost a grandfather and two uncles that I would never get a chance to meet!

My dad's mother knew there was no way that she was going to be able to raise 4 children and run a failing farm, so she did the only thing she could think of. She sold the family farm and used what money was left after the sale, for passage for herself and her children back to England, where she would at least have her parents help.

Even though my dad stayed in England and eventually married and had me and my 10 year old sister Jane, he never forgot how he loved America. In fact I was named after his best friend in America.

Ever since I can remember dad has been talking about taking us all to the States to start a new and better life.

After hearing him promise us yet again, I guess you can say that by then I didn't believe him any longer so my question of why he hadn't taken us yet came out pretty snotty!

I of course, due to my rude mouth earned a free pass to the wood shed that evening with my dad, trust me it definitely wasn't fun!

On another occasion when my dad brought up America, I once again asked him why we haven’t gone yet, only this time I made damn sure to ask him as politely as I could, as I didn't want another whipping from him.

Dad let out a sigh and said that unfortunately it would take a lot of money to go to America and then start a new life. We of course were not wealthy, matter of fact, we were downright poor.

So now after all this time I asked dad what had changed? It turned out that his old buddy Josh Rivers (my namesake) never forgot dad and the good times they had together as teenagers. Before dad had left with his family to go back to England, he and Josh made a promise keep in touch with each other. Of course back then it was much harder to keep in touch as mail could take weeks to get across the ‘Pond’.

At this moment I broke from the story to look up at my daughter and grandson. I wanted them to realize how things were back then without all the modern day conveniences such as the Internet.

After a short pause and a drink from a water glass next to me on the table, I quickly was back into story telling mode and was once again lost in the past.

As I said my dad and Uncle Josh made a promise to each other to keep in touch, but unfortunately after a few years they lost track of each other.

According to my dad Mr. Rivers recently came to London on business and decided while here to look up my dad and enlist his help here. He telegraphed dad a couple of days ago and asked him if he could meet him in London. Well dad had decided to go today and met him early this morning. At this point in the story he even got mom's attention

“You went to London to see a friend and you didn't even tell me anything about all this until now?” mom asked.

Dad apologized and said, “I am sorry dear but I didn't want to say anything until he had a chance to speak with Josh.”

What Mr. Rivers said surprised dad totally. It turns out that Mr. Rivers owns a small exporting company and was looking at expanding it to London. If he did this he was going to need someone he could trust over here to run things and wanted to know if dad would be interested in this position.

Dad stated that he thought about the job offer for a couple of minutes and decided to turn it down. He told us that he explained to Mr. Rivers that if he took the job that he would have to quit as soon as he earned enough money to take his family to America, and that he just couldn't do that to a friend.

With this said he thought his friend would be disappointed, but was shocked to see a happy glint in his eyes. He then gave a new offer to dad. He told him that he happened to be looking for a manager for his Boston store and asked dad if he would be interested in taking that position. He also told dad that the job also came with a decent salary, living quarters, and passage for him and his family to America.

Dad said he couldn't believe it, all these years he wanted to take us to America and now was his chance; his dream was finally coming true. He excitedly told us that he had accepted the offer on the spot.

If we thought this was big news we were in for a shock to find out that we would be leaving in only a week aboard the new White Star liner, Titanic.

The week went flying by real fast. I wasn't sure at first if I liked the idea of leaving all my friends behind, but dad had assured me that I would meet and make more friends in America.

I may have had my doubts in the beginning but in the end I was really looking forward to traveling on what was being called The Unsinkable Ship, and also known for being the largest cruise liner at its time.

My sister on the other hand hated the fact of leaving all of her friends behind and became very stubborn about not going. Of course in the end it was not her choice and dad made it very clear she was going.

Now standing in front of the Titanic I was amazed with this magnificent ship. I was so excited and couldn't help for the umpteenth time asking dad when we would be boarding her?

“As soon as your namesake and his son Tim get here” dad said.

I now looked at dad and wondered why he hadn't mentioned that Mr. Rivers (who later on that morning asked me and Jane to call him Uncle Josh.), had a son before now? It turned out with all the confusion, dad had just plain forgotten that point until now.

Now with the knowledge of Tim's existence I of course wanted to know more about him. So I asked dad if he met him yet, and it turned out that he had last week when he came to London to see Uncle Josh.

“Tim is a year older than you, he is 13.” Dad explained.

Later I would find out that even though he was 13 he was no bigger than I was. He had sandy brown hair, and real bright, blue eyes.

Dad was no sooner done telling me about Tim when a voice spoke up behind me. I was startled and scared so bad that I almost pissed myself, I still ended up trying to claw my way up my dad's body. It turned out the voice belonged to a kid who once again repeated what he said while holding out his hand.

This time I heard him say “Hi I’m Tim, you must be Josh”. He said exuberantly.

I quickly recovered and decided to play like the scare I had never happened. I took Tim's hand and acknowledged that I was in deed Josh.

“Hi Josh, we are going to have so much fun, I just know it.” He pumped my hand so hard there I thought my arm was going to fall off. Still I knew right away he was right.

As we shook hands I think both of us knew from that moment on we would be great friends.

I then noticed a tall thin man behind Tim and I figured that it must have been his Dad Mr. Joshua Rivers.

Mr. Rivers also stuck out his hand so that I could shake his as well. While shaking his hand my dad introduced everyone this was when Mr. Rivers told my sister and me that if we wanted we could call him Uncle Josh. He said the reason for this was because he always considered my dad as a brother, so therefore he considered my sister and I, his niece and nephew.

Uncle Josh informed my dad that everything was ready and all of our luggage had been taken aboard. He told us that we all had 2nd class tickets, but because of the cost we would have to share one cabin together. I didn't know for sure but I felt all of a sudden that I was going to hate these arrangements, but looking again at the ship as we boarded the thought was quickly put out of my head.

Chapter 2: Dinner and the Meeting of the Greens

By the time we got through customs check it was almost dinner time and in order to be to dinner on time mom wanted us to hurry and find our cabin. This way we could change and drop our stuff off, including all of our carryon luggage so we could go and eat.

“Once we find our cabin we need to hurry up and look our best.” My mom announced. This was because tonight the second class passengers were invited to have dinner at the first class dining room, and Mom really wanted to get a look at it. “Come let’s hurry” she again said, “And Remember we are on a schedule”.

That was one thing about my mom, she always had a schedule. After the dinner she had scheduled us for an informative tour of the ship. After that it was bed time then tomorrow was another day of schedules including another tour of the ship and the bon voyage party in which I was looking forward to.

Another thing I was looking forward to tomorrow was that we would finally be out to sea and I couldn't wait to see the wonders of the ocean surrounding Titanic.

We finally made it to our cabin, but because we were in such a hurry I didn't have enough time to really notice it. Everyone quickly had their turn at the wash basin in our cabin and then we all put on our best church outfits for dinner, then we were off.

On the way to the dining hall my sister announced that she had to use the bathroom. Everyone else quickly agreed that they too felt it wise to use the toilets. It was so amazing to see the indoor plumbing of the toilets. Not one person in our small village had indoor plumbing; even the school had an outhouse. So seeing this was my first time and I was amazed at it. I expected it to smell something awful in there, like an outhouse but was amazed that it didn’t smell anywhere near as bad as our outhouse.

“Dad, how come it don’t smell like an outhouse?” I asked.

“Well it is because the pipes take the waste away from the toilet unlike in our outhouse where the waste just sits there in the hole.” Dad explained.

After ‘We’ men were finished and were waiting on the women I asked Uncle Josh if there was a bathroom in our room because I didn't notice one.

“I am sorry Josh, but no there isn't.” He explained to me. Before I could ask anything else he added, “All 2nd class passengers have to share certain assigned bathrooms which are located in each section of a deck.”

“You mean we have to go all the way down here to use the bathroom?” “What happens if it is an emergency?” I asked.

“Well” he said “each room has a chamber pot just in case of such emergencies.”

I knew what a chamber pot was as I had one under my old bed. In fact all of us had one under our beds. Even so I didn’t like the idea of pooping right in front of everyone if I couldn’t hold it.

As soon as Mom and my sister came out of the ladies room we headed towards the 1st class dining hall.

As we entered the large room, Mom told us all right away, “oh my, the Dining Hall is just the way I had envisioned it.”

I had to admit it was spectacular. The glasses we were told were real crystal and the China was the best, which money could buy. As my eyes bugged out of my skull Mom ushered us forward so we could find our assigned table. It was cool passing all the tables and seeing all the other 2nd class passengers. I even noticed that besides a number, there were cards that had the people’s names. I figured correctly that it was the people who would be sitting at each table.

The Dining Hall was already starting to crowd with people. Even though this was a special dinner for the 2nd class passengers, and that there would be a later dinner for the first class passengers, a few of the 1st class passengers decided to show up for the earlier dinner as well.

It was very easy to tell which were the 1st class passengers by their manners and dress. The ladies all wore elegant dresses made in such places as France and Italy. They wore gleaming jewels worth more than I would ever make in my lifetime. Besides all the clothes and jewels, the lady's that were present had a natural beauty that was worth a million pounds. They also wore proud looks on their faces which stated without words that “I am a rich and higher class woman then the common women.” The 1st class men on the other hand were dressed in expensive tailored suits; some of them even wore expensive Tuxes and Cummerbunds. They also liked to show off their pocket watches which were indeed very expensive. Unlike the ladies who did all of their talking with their beauty, the men had no problem at all with bragging and showing off to each other about their personal wealth.

Mom finally found our seats and directed us to them where we sat down and waited for the dinner to start.

No sooner had we sat down that another family joined us at our table. It was another 2nd class family of six who would be our dinner mates this evening.

It turned out that Uncle Josh knew the man and his family that just sat down with us. The Man’s name I learned was Jonathan Green. Jonathan's wife's name was Lucille, and their 4 children were 16 year old Brittany, 13 year old Tasha, 10 year old Gwen, and 8 year old Jeremy.

My sister and Gwen instantly became friends as soon as they found out that they were the same age, and that they were only a couple of cabins apart from each other.

While waiting for dinner all of us kids started talking to each other while the men and women started talking in their own groups.

It was while I was talking to Tim I heard the remark “Have you seen those dreadful beds yet? They are so small only one adult can fit in them.” This comment was made by Mrs. Green.

My mom just shook her head and said no that she hadn't had time to really notice them yet.

“We will have to put the children in two's and I and Mr. Green will have to sleep in separate beds” said Mrs. Green.

At that point in their conversation Tim got my attention and I quickly forgot what mom and Mrs. Green were talking about. While Tim told me what it was like traveling on a ship, mom and Mrs. Green continued their conversation about the cabins and their bed space. This conversation I would learn later had her making bed plans for that evening. Bed plans which I sure was not going to like.

The dinner that was prepared for us turned out to be one that I would never forget. It was served in what I was told was called courses. This is where each time they bring something to your table to eat it was called a course.

The first course was a light salad and wine (water for us children).

The second course was a small sampler plate that had about six different cheeses and a few different varieties of crackers on it.

The third course was the entree, which turned out to be baked Salmon smothered in a bourbon sauce. The Salmon was the best that I have ever tasted, and to this day I have never tasted baked Salmon as good as that. Along with the entree came two sides which were French styled green beans, and seasoned pearl potatoes.

The fourth and final course was a dessert that to this day I can’t remember the name of, but it was the best dammed desert I ever had. It was some sort of rich cake that had layers of chocolate mouse and it was covered with a thick sweet sauce and topped with cinnamon apples. Like I said it was delicious.

Through the meal us kids were given several refills of the sweetest and creamiest milk I had ever tasted. It had a very sweet taste not normally found in milk. After losing count of how many glasses I drank mom made me stop. Before I could protest and whine about it she told me she thought I had enough to drink.

At first I argued with my mom about it, but she just looked at me and said, “You know why you should stop and that the same rules that applied at home also applied here on the ship and where we will live eventually in America.

“But Mom I don’t have that problem anymore” I whined. “I haven't had a problem now for about 3 months.” I tried to remind her. Of course this was true if you don’t count the time that I was real sick a month ago. Before I could go on anymore I stopped before I had said it, as I saw Mom’s fiery look at me.

It wasn’t until that moment that I noticed all the talking had stopped at our table and everyone was looking directly at me including Tim.

My cheeks must have been on fire at that moment because of how red they felt and most likely looked! All I could think about at that moment was how embarrassed I was! Because of everyone staring at me and the shame and embarrassment I was feeling, I just quietly told mom, “okay.”

Noticing my really red face mom tried to save me by telling my sister the same thing. “Jane you too have had enough milk.”

My sister I could tell was about to remind mom that the rules in question never applied to her before because she didn't have a problem, but one look at mom made her just stop and say, “yes ma'am.”

After that, the rest of the adults agreed that all the children had enough milk, using the excuse that the sweetness in the milk would keep them up and that they would not be able to sleep very well that night.

The ship discussion came up after the dinner and was very informative. After the discussion the men went to smoke cigars and drink Brandy.

While the men were doing their thing, Mom and Mrs. Green took us kids out to the deck where the two of them talked while us kids played and goofed off.

Using the lights from the ship and the city of Southampton we played night tag with each other. I never thought I would like the idea of playing with girls, but they weren't too bad when it came to playing tag.

The only one that didn't join us was Brittany who said she was way too old to play little kids games and just stood at the edge of the deck and leaned on the railing looking out at the harbor.

I found out later that it turned out that she was upset that her mother was making her sleep with her younger brother.

It was about an hour before dad, Uncle Josh, and Mr. Green came out and joined us. Dad then came over and informed us that he felt it was time for certain children to go back to the cabin and go to bed, of course he meant my sister and I.

Surprisingly to my parents I didn't put up any arguments about going to bed. In fact I was happy because I had a fun day and was tired after an hour of playing tag. So off to the cabin we went where we then started getting ready for bed.

<><><><><><><><><><>

Chapter 3: The Cabin and a Night of Dreams

The cabin beds we realized were very small like Mrs. Green had said.

Mom took one look at them and then looked at all of us. She then took a deep breath and then asked Uncle Josh if it was okay if she made the bedding arrangements.

Uncle Josh said it was ok with him. So with her new delegated power mom then told everyone the bedding arrangements.

She put me and Tim in a bottom bunk and put dad and Uncle Josh in the two top bunks. She then claimed the last bottom bunk for Jane and herself.

“This way all the children would be on the bottom bunk and it would be easier for them to get up and use the chamber pot if need to” mom said.

Dad and Uncle Josh both agreed to the arrangements so it was settled.

With all the talk at dinner I started worrying, but then I reminded myself that mom was just being cautious, besides it has been months since I had any real problems. Of course then I thought about the time I was sick, but then dismissed it because I felt it didn't count because, I was sick.

Mom then made me and my sister get ready for bed. While we were getting ready Uncle Josh told Tim to also get ready for bed. With that said dad and Uncle Josh went down the hall to the bathroom to clean up and change for bed.

As soon as they got back mom went to the bathroom herself to clean up as well and change herself into a night gown for bed.

When mom came back she sent all of us kids down to the bathroom. She pulled me aside while the other two left ahead of me and reminded me that I had a long day and several glasses of milk, and that I should make sure that I actually use the bathroom real good.

I promised her that I would and that there was no reason to worry about that. She then let me go. True to my word I drained myself of every drop of urine that I could squeeze out of my bladder. Even though I was sure I wouldn't have a problem I still didn't want to take any chances.

Once we were all back in our room and tucked in bed mom told a bedtime story with Jane's persistence. Even though I knew I was too old for such a thing I enjoyed the story too. I looked over at Tim and realized that he too was enjoying the story; this of course made me feel a little bit better since I did not want to look like a baby to Tim.

After the story mom started singing which always worked at putting my sister and myself to sleep and I realized was still effective as I realized that I was succumbing to the world of sleep. Before I dropped off in the land of Wink, Blink, and Nod I looked over at Tim and noticed he too had fallen under the spell of my mom's wonderful singing voice and was already fast asleep.

The last thing I remember before I fell asleep was her singing an English song her mother taught her. It was a beautiful song that really showed mom's true singing talent. And with her singing that song I slipped into a deep peaceful sleep.

That 1st night for me was a night of mixed dreams. First I dreamt of my life in England. I was playing with all of my friends and having a lot of fun. We were playing tag and later a great game of capture the flag.

I then dreamt of a party that I went to a couple of months ago. It was my best friend Justin's birthday party. It had been his 12th birthday and his very first big birthday party. I remember that I had teased him at that party because I was 3 months older than him and that he would never be able to catch up. Even in the dream I felt how much I was going to miss him.

Besides being my best friend Justin was also my confident as he had been the only person outside the family who knew about my little night time problem, oh besides his mother of course.

You see our mothers had been friends since they were children so it was only time before his mom had found out about my little night time problem.

When she finally did find out, she was actually relieved that Justin was not alone.

You see we were both bed wetters and because of shame and guilt we didn't know about the other being a bed wetter. It wasn't until a couple years later that our mothers would out us by sharing our secret to one another.

From what we were told of how our mothers found out about the other was plain and simple. One day during my 8th year my mom accidentally divulged my secret to her best friend, Justin's mom.

Once it became known that Justin also had a similar problem, both of our moms decided that it was time for us to be honest to one another.

Our mom's had gotten us together and explained that we both had the same problem so therefore we now didn't have to worry about the other finding out our secret no-more. It also meant that we could actually sleep over at each other’s houses without worrying no longer about having an accident wetting the bed.

At first I was angry with my mom for telling Justin's mom and Justin himself about my bed wetting. Justin was my best friend and I didn't want to take a chance of him laughing at me for wetting the bed.

Justin had told me later when I confronted him about how upset I was, that he had felt the same way at first but then realized that now things could be even better for us, now that we don't have to hide it from each other now. Now because of the secret that we shared about each other we became even better and closer friends than ever before.

Shortly before Justin turned 10 he stopped wetting the bed. Boy was he happy and his happiness made me feel miserable.

Justin finally realized my misery and promised me that he would still keep the secret and never tell anyone that I wet the bed. He also made a promise that he would also help me stop wetting the bed too.

After that Justin tried to coach me and help me stop wetting the bed. It was about this time my sister stopped wetting the bed which made me feel even worse.

I started to hide my accidents hoping that everyone would start to think I too was stopping my bed wetting like my best friend and my little sister did. Boy was everyone happy for me especially Justin. He would praise me every day when he asked me if I had wet that night and answered him no. I of course felt lousy lying to everyone and especially to my best friend.

Amazingly A month went by with me hiding the evidence of my wetting. What I was doing was training myself to wake up before anyone else did. I would then strip my wet bedding off my bed and shed myself of my sleeping gown or pajamas. I would then sneak out side and rinse out everything at the water pump outside. I would even scrub everything with some Lye soap. I would then go to my old fort in the woods behind our house and hang the wet sheets there until they dried. I would then put a clean set of sheets on my bed and another Night Gown or pajamas depending on what I originally wore to bed.

I of course didn't always wake up before mom did, so she managed to catch me asleep in a wet bed a couple of times. Even though her catching me did happen a few times she still looked at it as a major improvement over what I use to do.

Those mornings when she did catch me before I could hide the evidence she told me not to worry that sometimes accidents do happen and that they are even expected. In the end though mom found out the truth and my lie was exposed.

She had come in my room one night while I was asleep because she thought she heard me cry out. It turned out that I had been talking in my sleep during a dream. Well she noticed I was wet and was going to wake me like she usually did but decided not to because it had been a long day and she was tired and she didn't want to have to wake me when I seemed so peaceful. The next morning when she came in to wake me she found me asleep in a dry bed. She asked me after she woke me about my bedding. I who had awaken an hour an half before she got up had fallen back asleep after I cleaned up the mess and still in the middle of waking up misunderstood her question and told her I had another dry night.

At that point she told me that the game was up and that I needed to tell her the truth.

I then broke down and told her that I had been hiding my bed wetting and making them all think that I was drying up.

As part of my punishment I had to tell everyone that I lied to by saying I had stopped wetting the bed, that I lied to them and that I was really still wetting the bed after all. I was upset at first but with encouragement from Justin I made a renewed effort to gain night time control over my bladder.

I kept up that effort and in the end it finally paid off and 4 months before my 12th birthday I finally became dry at night.

It had disappointed me that I had wet the bed that one time while sick last month, but once Justin confided in me that he too had wet the bed just a few weeks before when he was sick, made me feel better.

Matter of fact it turned out when I went to tell Justin good-bye and that I was going to America Justin had then confided in me besides the fact that he would miss me, that he was wetting the bed again.

He told me it started a couple of weeks ago and since then he has not had a dry night. He told me he was sorry that he kept it from me but that he was embarrassed that he had started wetting again.

I knew that Justin was secretly hoping that I too had started wetting the bed again. Of course I wasn't and I was breathing a sign a relief that I wasn't Justin right at this moment in time.

All of this stuff about my past and Justin resurfaced in my dream. Also in my Dream I could see myself wondering if my mom had found out about Justin's backsliding and that was why maybe lately the last couple of days she had been stricter than in a long while about certain things like drinks after 6pm and the evening bathroom trip right before I go to bed.

She had even done something that she hadn't done in months the night before; she got me up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom.

At this point the dream started to become unpleasant to me so subconsciously I was able to change my dream. I was no longer in England now I was aboard the titanic. But now instead of being in the port in England we were now out in the middle of the ocean.

At first the setting was beautiful. The Sun was setting in the west and the waves were gently lapping against the ship. It was the perfect picture of the sea calm and beautiful. People were walking about the deck chatting to each other and in the background you could hear the beautiful music coming from the ballroom. Then as quickly as that beautiful image came, it then went.

The next picture in my mind’s eye was that of a dark sky and a cold angry ocean. The calm and peace that I found on the ship earlier was no longer. People were now running and screaming. At first I couldn't figure out why everyone seemed so afraid, but it didn't take long to find out why.

The ship! The great unsinkable ship was sinking? This dream too was turning awful. I tried to again change my dream but this time I couldn't shake it at all. I tried to wake up but soon realized that it too was not going to work. I started thinking now that maybe it wasn't a dream at all; maybe this was actually happening because it was so realistic. I looked around me trying to find someone I might recognize, but no one looked familiar at all.

I then started shouting for my mom and dad but realized because of my fear that my shouts were barely audible whispers due to my throat swelling up! It was then I decided it had to be real and that it was no dream. I was scared and horrified. I was no longer sure what I should do and started crying and wishing only to be in my mommies arms.

It was now that I did something out of horror that I hadn't done since I was 7 years old, I wet my pants while awake. I could feel the wetness fill my crotch and soak it with my pee and I realized I couldn't stop it at all.

I started running to the rear of the ship as it was the direction that everyone else was headed. Once I got there I again scanned the crowd looking for my parents. All of a sudden someone picked me up and said my name and told me there was not much time. I thought I might have recognized the voice but because of all the commotion I was not able to place it.

I tried looking to see who it was but with the way I was being held I could not tell who it was. Then I heard the person yell “hang on” and the next thing I realized is that while still holding me this man I did not know, had jumped off the ship. We both were now submerged in the freezing cold angry ocean water. Trying to fight my way out of this man's hands so that I could get back to the surface and breathe, I found myself in a state of fear that I never had been through before in my short life. I just knew I was going to die!

That was when I finally awoke from this horrible dream, and sat up screaming!
