Night Eternal:

Chapter 3: Ryan and Coby forever!

Coby

I was so worried that I might have lost Ryan, so I redoubled my efforts to get approval from the Prince. Nick's appearance had brought my plans to a halt. While at the same time made it even more important that I get to Ryan quickly, because he was falling apart. The loss of Nick had been a nail in the coffin for Ryan. He had already tried to kill himself! If not for our quick action he would have succeeded. I hated having to use Pete the way I was, but I couldn't watch Ryan 24 hours a day, so I had commanded him to watch him day and night.

Pete had done as I had instructed him, very well. A major fact that he cared for Ryan as well and didn't want to see him die either, helped to keep my commands strong on him. This enabled me to persuade Pete to remain close to Ryan until I could hatch my plan.

A few days after Ryan's suicide attempt, the Prince summoned me to an audience. I arrived ten minutes later. The entrance hall of the Elysium was full of high society Kindred. They were all busy with there political maneuvering. I got a lot of looks as I always do on my way to meet the Prince. It is well known in the court, that I had quickly become one of the Prince's favorites, and there were a lot of those who resented me because of it.

As I walked into Remington's meeting hall, his face lit up with a broad smile. "Ah, Colby my boy, good of you to make such good time!"

I walked up with a small bow, "Good evening Prince, It is an honor to serve. What can I do for you this evening?"

"I feel I can trust you. If I ask you to keep something confidential can you do that?"

"Of course Prince."

"Including you're team and Christopher!"

"If you require it, I believe I can."

"Then, I have a very important mission for you! There is a group of very powerful individuals that are seeking to replace me as prince. I have some friends that could help me to prevent this but they live in another city. I know I am asking a lot of you, but if you could get a message to them, it would mean the difference. I'm sure of it!"

He gave me a package with my instructions in them, as well as a sealed letter of introduction and explanation for the gentleman I was going to see. The target city was about a two-hour's drive. I would need to leave quickly if I were to make it there and back before dawn.

I called up Brad and told him I had something to do tonight and that I would see him tomorrow. I jumped in the car and drove by Ryan's place to check on him before leaving. Then, I raced out of town on my mission. The drive was uneventful.

Once I arrived in the new city, I headed for a local dance club called Blood Moon, which was the heaven for Victor (the kindred I was looking for). Looking at their auras, I could tell there were about two dozen Kindred in the club, of about 300 people. The two bouncers were ghouls. They had a faint paleness to their auras. The club seemed to have many curtained off privet booths. It was quite ingenious.

A few Kindred at the bar had noticed me come in and were staring. I walked up to the bar and motioned for the bartender. He nodded that he would be over in a minute. One of the Kindred that had been staring at me walked up. He had a very strong Australian accent.

"Hey Mate, you lost or something?"

"No, I'm just looking for someone. You work here?"

"I don't think I've seen you around here before. I know everyone in this town. You see we already got enough blokes in this pub. I think you should find another one."

"Look, I'm just visiting from out of town. I'm not looking for any trouble, I just need to deliver a message and I'm out."

"Well why don't you give me the message and tell me who it is for and I'll see that he gets it!"

"I'm afraid I can't do that! Why don't you..." then the bartender came up.

"Yes sir, what can I get for ya!" I handed him the introduction letter. He took one look at the envelope and handed it back to me. "Go to the end of the bar, down the hall to the last door. I'll call Ralph and let him know your coming. What's your name?"

"Coby Daniels." So I did as instructed. The Australian seemed a bit pissed that I had just snubbed him. I saw him storm out of the club as I was walking. At the end of the hall, a large Kindred was standing there. I told him my name and he opened the door for me with a bit of a grunt. He then followed me in, close behind me. The inner chamber was a large room, with beautiful hardwood floors. It had a large seating area in the middle with facing black leather couches, with a big flat panel TV on the wall at one end and a fireplace at the other.

From there the room continued with bookcases along both walls that went back to a big desk where a handsome man sat in a high back leather chair. The large oak desk was impressive. It had an intricate carving on the front of it of some medieval battle. Victor (I assumed the man behind the desk) was a fine example of English statesman. His slender face was framed by long straight black hair and his blue eyes went through me the moment I walked in the door. He sat observing me with his hands folded together, as his elbows rested on the armrests of his chair.

As I walked past his lounge area I picked up a faint aura standing off to one side. It must have been his protector using obfuscation to avoid detection. However, being the child of one so powerful does have its advantages. If I had not been looking for it I would not have seen him. He was perhaps a generation or two of power less then mine for me to be able to spot him. I doubt Brand would have seen him. There was something peculiar about him though. What little of his aura I could see seemed more like that of Chris's or Remington's, more ancient.

Victor offered one of the two seats in front of his desk. I accepted.

"Good evening! I am Victor Blair. Owner of this fine establishment, what brings you to me this evening?"

I saw his aura shift, just slightly as he introduced himself. It was then that I realized what was going on. I stood up and walked over towards the cloaked figure. The large man shifted like he was going to stop me. But I began speaking to the thin air in front of me.

"Hello Victor, I am Coby Daniels, representative of Prince Remington." I offered my letter of introduction to the man who was suddenly coming into view.

He began laughing. "Well, well! It seems Remington has finally found a worthy courier. Who is your sire Mr. Daniels?"

"Christopher Westmore, sir."

"Please call me Victor. Any child of Christopher's is a child of mine." He offered me his hand, and I shook it. He then walked over to his desk. His man had gotten up and moved over to the corner of the room. The fake Victor now looked totally different. He must have taken on the likeness of Victor as a decoy. "Your sire helped me get my start in this world. He is like an older brother to me! My sire died shortly after my crossing and Chris looked after me for many years. I heard that he had taken on a new child recently. You should consider yourself fortunate, as he has not taken many in the last century. So young Coby what brings you to me tonight?"

"Well Victor, it would seem that someone is threatening Remington's position and he sent me to request aid. I believe that he has detailed it more in the sealed letter I gave you."

"Yes, let us see what it says." He read the letter for several seconds as his face contorted. He then pulled out some paper and wrote a return note and sealed it. "Take this back to Remington and tell him he has my support!"

"Thank you Victor. I will be off, then. I want to get this to him by sunrise. By your leave." I said as I rose.

"Good luck. I wish I had one like you working for me!"

I headed out of the club and was on my way to my car, when I heard a noise coming from down the street. I heightened my senses and saw where the noise had come from. Five men, no five kindred where heading my way. In the middle of them was the Australian from earlier.

"Oi mate! I don't like when people ignore me. 'Specially when I'm tryin to tell em something for de own good. Now mind tellin us what what you had to speak wit Victor 'bout? Cause me and da boys hear got a bet going that Remington sent ya!!"

What how could they know about that, unless... "I think you should keep your nose out of other peoples business! What Victor and I talked about has nothing to do with you!"

"Ah, but that's where you're wrong mate! See, I got vested interest in seeing your boss fall hard! Cause see, I think you do work for Remington and I'm afraid that is bad news for you!"

I saw the change in their auras a moment before they started drawing their weapons. They were about 15 feet away from me at that point. I burned up a massive amount of my blood to boost my strength and my reaction time. I made two quick steps and leapt the remaining 10 feet in a swift move, as their first shots ripped though the spot I had been moments before.

They had not expected me to be so quick. I was hoping none of them could use Celerity. It is a whole other level of speed than what I was using. Thankfully, all of these guys were at least three generations beneath me. You see all Kindred come from one origin, Cain, as in Adam's son that killed his brother Able. He was the first of us and the most powerful. He is pure Kindred. It is the result of the curse God put upon him for killing his brother.

Anyway, the further down the line a Kindred is from Cain the weaker the potency of his blood. Thus he cannot manipulate it the way someone closer to Cain can. You see Christopher is a 4th generation Kindred, meaning that there are only two sires between him and Cain! A fifth generation Kindred of my age is very rare. The main difference is that I can use multiple abilities at once, empowering my arsenal and giving me choices. These guys can probably only manifest one power at a time, giving me a distinct advantage.

The Aussie had a very surprised look on his face, as I was suddenly right in front of him. I reached out and sunk my claws into his shoulders. Before he could make a noise I had jumped again, back flipping over him with both my claws firmly griping his shoulders. When I landed on the other side, I used my momentum to toss the guy down the street.

By this time his friends had realized I was now in-between them. I was moving to the first guy on my left before the Aussie had hit the ground with a thud. I rolled on the ground past him, slicing at his leg as I went by. When I got to the other side of him, I did a handspring out of the roll, sending both of my feet to the chin of the last guy on the left. That sent him flying back.

I landed at his feet and spun around, crouched and ready for anything. Apparently my one fear in this was realized. I had turned around just in time to see the smallest of the five guy's foot heading for my head. I tried to block but he was way to fast. Luckily for me this guy was fast, but not that strong. I rolled with his kick and used the momentum to do a back flip. The guy must have thought the kick was enough to take me down because he failed to see my foot as it kicked him in the chin in the middle of my back flip.

One thing about a Kindred is that we are very tough and can instantly heal from most wounds. However, my claws have a supernatural nature and cause wounds that are difficult to heal. My one real advantage was that they could not heal from the damage my claws were inflicting. There are only a few other things that we can't heal easily from, fire and sunlight are two of them.

I landed on my feet made a quick survey of the situation. The guy behind me was slowly getting up. The Aussie was still down, but he was moving. The guy I had rolled past was holding his leg, but turning around to face me, now with an unsheathed sword. The guy I had just kicked was landing on the ground with a thud, but he would be up very quickly. The only guy I had not touched had about three bullets heading my way and was starting to move laterally down the street to try and flank me.

The one guy I really had to worry about at the moment was Speedy. If I let him he could beat my speed, taking away my main advantage on these punks. So I decided to take him out first. I made a rolling dodge toward Speedy to get out of the way of the bullets heading my way. As I came out of my roll I drove my right clawed hand for Speedy's chest. However, he just rolled out of the way sending my hand half into the street. Oh well, another pothole can't be too out of place.

Speedy made a spinning move and was back on his feet. He looked pissed. He stared in my eyes, furious as he jolted towards me. What an idiot! As soon as I made eye contact I said one word, "Sleep!" He was right in the middle of his swing as he collapsed in my arms. I drove my arm through his ribcage and out his back. His eyes opened briefly as his mistake became evident.

All this use of power was draining me quickly. So my next move, after throwing Speedy to the ground, was for the guy that thought he could flank me. I ran around behind him as he shot wildly, missing completely. After I got up behind him my left hand went to his throat sending one clawed finger under his chin but through his mouth impaling his tongue from underneath, stifling his scream. Then I sank my teeth into his neck and began to drink. Kindred blood is so much more potent then human blood. The feeling of ecstasy was quite pronounced in the middle of battle.

As I had him secured, I used my free right hand to grab the gun away from him and unloaded on his friends. My current hyper senses made me a dead shot, as I anticipated their movements. I had hit each one of them at least twice before they were able to find cover. As they were healing their bullet wounds, I finished off their friend. He must have been about a tenth generation Kindred, as draining him barely replenished a third of what I had used already in this fight.

I let the guy drop to the ground along with his spent Glock. I then ran toward the guy I had booted with my handspring. He met me with a swing of his knife. I spun past the blade and jammed my right claw into his right shoulder, spinning around behind him and raking both claws across his back. He fell down to one knee from the shock. I spun around again tore his throat out. He fell, face first to the ground making a puddle.

I marveled at how efficient I had become at killing someone. Six months ago and I would have scoffed at the sight of blood. There were just two left. Both already severely wounded. I wanted the Aussie for last, so I leapt in the air after his last flunky. The poor bastard barely had time to raise his sword. It didn't matter, though. He drove his sword through my waist as I came down. However, both of my claws sunk deep into his chest. I used a pump of strength to rip his chest open. He fell to the ground in a lump.

I turned. I released all of my enhancements including my claws. I pulled the sword out of my gut and threw it to the side. I slowly walked to where he was leaning against the building, on the other side of a garbage can. I healed my injuries as I walked to him. He fired three shots at me, two hit. I just kept walking, healing the wounds as he was frantically changing his clip.

I had put the fear of God in this guy. He thought I was some punk sent by Remington. I had been in worst situations than his little ambush before. It was a mistake he knew he would regret for however much life he had left. He was whimpering by the time I got to him.

"You ruined a perfectly good coat! Do you know how much Armani costs?" he slapped in the new clip he had been fumbling with. Tried to aim it at me and I slapped the gun out of his hand. "I should kill you, but that would be too kind!" I reached into my inner coat pocket and pulled out a stake and thrust it through his chest, into his heart. He went limp. I picked him up and threw him over my shoulder.

I noticed that people were beginning to show up on the street. I threw up a cloak of obfuscation around us and left for my car. I could see down the street the crowd that was forming as I was throwing the punk in my trunk. Two hours later and I was pulling into town.

I pulled in to the Elysium with about an hour and a half to spare before sunrise. I got out, threw up obfuscation as I got my guest out of the trunk. I didn't want to cause a scene. I walked in and headed straight for Remington's office. I kept the cloak up until I was behind closed doors.

"Ah! Coby my boy, good timing! I expect my message has been delivered!"

"Yes my Prince! And I have brought you a gift!"

"Oh and I so love gifts! Do tell!"

"This guy, not only didn't like me meeting with Victor, he seems to have it in for you. He said he didn't want you receiving help. I think you were right to send me. If they had realized how powerful I was they would have sent more men." The guy had a real terrified look in his eyes.

"Thank you Coby, you may leave him with Me." he smiled at me as I gave him a small bow and turned to leave. "And Coby... You have my permission! I am anxious to see this boy that holds your affection."

"Thank you Prince! I don't think you'll be disappointed." I said with a slight school girlish giggle. I'm sure I was rather red faced. Then, I remembered the return letter. "Oh I almost forgot, he gave me this to give to you." I handed him the letter, bowed again and left.

My happiness must have been very evident. As I was walking out of the Elysium I got the strangest looks from the other Kindred milling about. I didn't care, after six months I could finally be reunited with Ryan as I had planning to do. I didn't want to rush in to it with out having everything prepared. Over the next week I completely redid my room. I had one of my spare rooms made up in case Ryan wanted a place to himself. I had hoped he would stay with me, in my bed, but I planned for anything. I had gotten a few pieces of new clothes for him. I had planned on taking him out later for a new wardrobe, but in the mean time...

Finally the night had come. All the preparations had been made. I had been to see Pete the night before and told him that he would want to leave Ryan alone tonight, that he should be ok for one night. I had snuck into to the house right after Pete left under the cloak of obfuscation. I went in and planted a suggestion in Ryan to take a walk to the park to clear his head. He didn't see me of course so to him he just decided to get out of the house for a while.

I had been in my wolf form before when I wanted to watch him up close, but tonight I didn't care if he saw me. I was sitting across the street when he came out of his apartment. He stopped and stared at me for a minute, and then he started walking down the street. I would run down back alleys and get ahead of him to make sure he was heading in the right direction and to make sure no street thug was mugging him.

As we entered the park I realized that he must have been getting paranoid about me following him because he started looking all around like he was ready for something to strike him at any moment. I decided that we were far enough in the park for what I wanted to do. I walked into some bushes and changed back to human form. I used a little speed boost to move on the other side of him, he had turned around and almost seen me walk into the bushes as a wolf.

When he turned around, he just stared at me. It was then that I realized I had changed a lot in the last six months. I had bulked up quite a bit and my hair was a lot longer. I grinned and gave him a hint. "What! No hello?"

The light bulb came on quick. The shock and amassment on his face almost made me laugh, "C...Coby? ...How... Where have you been?"

I couldn't wait any longer. I had to have him in my arms. "I'll explain everything, but first." I walked up to him and wrapped my arms around him. I could feel tears welling up in my eyes. I had waited so long for this. I knew from the moment he embraced me that I was making the right decision for both of us. I could feel his love pouring over me and his tears were mixing with mine on our cheeks. "Oh God, I've missed you!" I whispered in his ear.

He whispered back, "What happened? Where have you been? Why haven't you called me? We all have been worried sick over you... I don't care! I missed you bro, more then I ever thought I would. I'm just glad you're back home." I pulled away slowly. This was the moment! I either do it now or say goodbye forever.

"I'm sorry Ryan. I didn't come back to stay. I had to come back, because I left something behind, something that means the world to me." as I spoke the words the look on his face went from disappointment to absolute horror. I could see it in his eyes, I was right! He had truly felt as I had, that we had really missed out on what we could have been. All those years, and we never realized how much we meant to each other until this moment, in the middle of some city park!

"What do you mean? You can't do this too me! I've been lost without you and there is so much we need to talk about." I couldn't wait any longer he had confirmed Chris's suspicions about us! We were meant for each other. In every way!

I know my face must have been beaming. He had made me the happiest man in the world. I pumped up my speed and moved around behind him. I'm sure to him I just disappeared. As he was desperately looking around for me, I slowly moved up and placed my right hand around his waist. Then, I draped my left arm over his shoulder and place my palm on his heaving chest and pulled him close to me. I leaned in over his right shoulder. I was so aroused by this I'm sure I was pressing against his ass I whispered in his ear, "I came back for you!"

I then sunk my fangs into his neck. The love I had for Ryan made the experience all the more sensuous. He began to moan from the experience. I was remembering the time I had gone through this. I never wanted it to stop...

Once I had drained him completely I almost cried as I held his lifeless form in my arms. He had just taken his final breath. I bit my wrist as I laid him on the ground. Here came the moment of truth.

Ryan

Then, there was life. Sweet life! It was flowing through me, like life was a drink. It was then I realized the life was coming from the liquid flowing into my mouth. I let the life flow over me. The awareness was coming back to me. Then, like a ton of bricks, it hit me; all of my senses were on overload. My eyes shot open. There was Coby over me, and his arm was over my mouth. I realized that his arm was the source of the life that was flowing into my mouth. My instincts took over and I grabbed his arm and drank. I could feel his heart beat, I could feel mine, and they were beating together.

After about a minute, Coby pulled his arm away. "Ryan, that's enough for now baby. We can get you some more shortly."

"Coby, what's going on? I feel... different!" I felt a wave of panic, as I realized that something was wrong. Something didn't feel right, but on the other hand, I felt more alive then I've ever been. I was on the ground now, but I started to look around. Everything was clear to me. It was the middle of the night, but I could see everything as if it were the middle of the afternoon. I could feel the wind blow past like never before. And I knew there were 8 other people in the vicinity of the park. I could see them very easily.

"It's ok! Just take it easy for a minute. I can take you with me now. I've missed you so much!" Then, he reached down and placed his lips on mine. I surprised my self by kissing him back. It was the most sensual kiss I've ever had. His lips were electric. His tongue was all I ever wanted. He broke the kiss and stared into my eyes. "Ryan, I love you!"

"Coby I..." Wow, the implications of what he just said washed over me. I realized how much I loved him, too. It had become apparent to me the moment I thought I had lost him. He was the only thing I ever needed in this world. And now he has returned to me, for me!

"Shhhh! Lets not talk now. I need to get you to my place. We can talk there."

It was then, that I realized just how hungry I was. In fact I haven't been this hungry in a long time. "OK! But can we stop somewhere, I'm hungry all of a sudden."

He just laughed, "Don't worry I'll take care of that when we get home."

He led me out of the park. We held hands the whole way and I didn't care. As long as I was with him I knew everything would be fine! Once we got out of the park, we walked down the street heading for a black SUV. It was a Lincoln Aviator. Fully decked out with all leather seats, wood grain interior, it was gorgeous!

"You drive this? You must have really made out in the world!"

"Yea, I've done well. Now so will you, but more on that at home."

We got in the car and started driving. I could not believe how different things looked. I also realized that Coby's scent was intoxicating. I had missed it so much and now it was more pronounced than I had ever experienced it. All of my senses seemed to be on overdrive. "Coby, what is going on with me? I know something is different. Please!"

He looked at me a moment. "Ok Ryan, but we are almost home! Let me ask you this first though. If you had to choose right now between Me, but you can never see your family again or any of your other friends again, or to stay the way things were, alone, lonely, and ready to kill yourself at the first opportunity and never see me again, which would you choose?"

The thought of losing Coby again hit me like a ton of bricks. I realized there would only be one choice. "I would choose to be with you! But why ask me such a cryptic question?"

"I hope you are not mad at me, because that is the choice I have made for you tonight. I have been watching you for many months now. I have never really been very far from you, you know. I just could not let you see me until tonight. I have seen all of the horrible things that have happened to you. I was with you two weeks ago when you tried to kill your self. So I know how far you have been falling. I had to get you out of that world and bring you into mine!"

"You have been watching... but then why could you not..."

"You will understand, in time and I will explain everything, but tonight just know you have not been alone as you have thought. However, the decision I have made for you tonight is a permanent one. It is as if I had killed you tonight. You will never be able to see anyone from your old life except from a distance. It will be as if you have died tonight, but no one will really know what happened to you. Pete will think you ran off and killed yourself somewhere. It will be just like when I disappeared!"

"But why? What is preventing me...?"

"You are not human any longer Ryan."

"What?"

"You're a Vampire!"

"Vampire! Oh my God! Then that means..."

"Yes, so am I. However, we call ourselves Kindred. Understand, we will never die, and we will never grow old. We will be together forever!"

I was speechless. He had offered me the world on a platter, with a very hefty price. To cutoff all ties and cause my family pain. But then I realized it was no more then the pain I would have inflicted with my suicide. But to live with Coby... forever! It seemed like that would be more than worth it. I had been thinking so hard, I had not realized that we had stopped.

"Well here we are. Let me show you to you're new home." He had a very sweet expression on his face. We had pulled into an underground garage and he was getting out. I followed him to an elevator. He put a key in and opened the door. I followed him in. He used his key again and pressed the button for the top floor.

When the elevator opened there was a really nice looking guy about Coby's height and fairly built, standing there like he was waiting on us to get there. He was wearing a black suit "Good evening Master Daniels, Master Carlyle. Can I get your coats?"

Coby had a butler? Then, I saw this girl come in not much older than us. She was short with long red hair and wearing a long green dress. "Ah good evening sirs your guests are in the living room. I have wine chilling if anyone is interested."

Coby spoke up, laughing, "Ok, both of you drop the proper attitudes! Very funny by the way!"

The guy spoke up, "Well honey, we just thought we would make your new boo feel at home! I can see why you've been lusting over him. He's everything you said he was!"

The girl then spoke up, "Yea boss, you said he was cute! You never mentioned he was drop dead gorgeous!"

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Coby must have been in just as much pain as I was. I looked over and he was blushing quite a bit. He said, "I think I liked you two better when you were subservient!" they all laughed. "Ok Ryan, I have a few people you need to meet." He began walking. I followed.

We walked past a few rooms to a large sitting room. Inside there were four men, all sitting around in a circle talking. When we entered the three, whose faces I could see, got up to greet us. The fourth was sitting facing away from us, I couldn't see his face.

One of them was a very handsome man with very pale skin and long, stark white hair. He was wearing a bright white suit. Another guy had long black hair pulled back in a ponytail. There was something stately about him. The third was completely bald and seemed like a guy that knew how to take care of business.

As we approached, the fourth guy got up and turned around. I was in for another big shock. It was Nick with a big smile on his face. "Nick... oh my God!"

Next Chapter: Ryan's new world.

Ok, guys I know that was a long time waiting, but I promise that the stories will come much quicker now. I had a lot of unexpected family functions that pulled my time away from writing over the holidays. But I'm back now! I hope you like the new chapter. I know there wasn't any sex in this one but just wait for the next one. Ryan and Coby together at last!! You what that means, a whole lot of experimenting! If you liked this story and it is the first time you have read anything from me I also have a story in the bisexual / highschool section of nifty. It is called "Gifted." And don't let the bisexual thing scare you off. The story is very good and my other readers have said they would read it even without the sex.
