Because of the break between my stories here is the final paragraph of the previous chapter

Bethany excused herself to go to the restroom and Luke remembered we're he'd seen Mark before. "Mom how long has Mark and Maria been married?"

"I don't know son, they have two very young kids so maybe not too long, why?"

"Because I know were I've seen his face and heard the name before and it put me in a difficult position."

Looking worried now, Sally asked why.

"Because the last time I saw Mark's face, it was on a wanted poster and he's wanted for ...

Now Read On

Sally looked even more worried when Luke told her what Mark was wanted for. "Are you sure Luke are you absolutely certain?" Sally asked as she noticed Bethany making her way back to the table.

"No I'm not certain until I check the wanted posters, but I have that feeling that I'm right."

"Please son don't say anything to Bethany yet until you are sure." Luke nodded just as Bethany sat down.

"Well the evening went very well didn't it?" She asked with Sally and Luke putting on a happy face and agreeing with her.

"Well I'll leave you two lovebirds and make my way to my bed; it's been a very busy day for me." Kissing both of them goodnight Luke left them alone as he headed for his own bed determined to check up on Mark tomorrow.

Bethany looked at Sally saying, "Would you like to come round to my place for a cup of coffee?"

Laughing Sally replied, "What a hell of a pickup line. Of course, I thought you'd never ask."

Bethany under protest from Sally paid the bill and they left the restaurant together heading for Bethany's apartment for a cup of coffee followed by more explorations of each other's bodies. Sally was a little bit apprehensive at first still thinking about the remark her son had made regarding Bethany's brother Mark. I certainly hope it's not true she thought to herself.

Margaret Jenkins the anti-gay social worker had managed to contact her parents who while they didn't approve of their daughters attitude to life and other people, decided to help her by organising a new lawyer and also provide the bail money for her release. Her new legal representative was able to rush things through and she didn't have to spend another night in jail unlike her namesake the other Margaret.

She was still in the padded cell and in a strait jacket until the next morning, when she was removed from the jacket and returned to her old cell. She was told that if she kept quiet and behaved herself she could stay in her cell but the slightest sound or swear word and it would be back into the padded cell and a strait jacket.

After a night in bed together with not a lot of sleep Kimberly and Carlos didn't hear his mother knocking on the bedroom until it was too late to do anything about it. Pulling the covers over Kimberly's head Carlos jumped out of bed rushing to answer the door when he suddenly realised that he was naked. It was a big scramble to get some clothes on and answer the door.

He opened the door just a little bit to see what his mother wanted and the minute he saw her face looking very angry and mad he knew they were in trouble. "How dare you and Kimberly sleep together. You know the rules and yet you deliberately disobeyed me and Kimberly's mother."

She pushed the door open almost knocking Carlos down as she stormed into the room. She stood in the middle of the bedroom looking at their clothing spread all over the floor and began sniffing the air, "It's no use denying nothing happened either. This room smells of sex."

Just as she was about to leave the room she turned around once more, "And Kimberly you had better get dressed and downstairs because your mother will be here any minute now." With those final words she stormed out of the room and her footsteps stomping down the stairs shook the whole house.

Carlos looked across at Kimberly with a look of what do we do now on his face, while his girlfriend was close to tears. "What are we going to do know?" She asked and all Carlos could do was shrug his shoulders because he couldn't see any way out of this predicament.

They both hurriedly got dressed, washed up and brushed their teeth with Kimberly borrowing a new tooth brush from Carlos. Sheepishly they went downstairs into the kitchen were they sat meekly at the table waiting for the onslaught which they knew was coming.

Carlos mother and father said nothing until there was a knock on the door and Kimberly's mom stormed in, "To say we are terribly disappointed in you two would be an understatement. We trusted you implicitly and expected you both to act like responsible young adults. Instead you betrayed that trust by carrying on like a couple of sex maniacs."

"Come on mom, that's a bit strong we're not like that at all. We love each other dearly and want to be together for life." Kimberly said with Carlos keeping strangely quiet and not saying a word.

"While you acted irresponsibly I hope that you had the common sense to take precautions."

That was when Carlos spoke up for the first time, "Oh yes we did we're not that stupid and we really do love each other."

This time it was Carlos' mom who took up the tirade, "You might have taken precautions but you certainly do not believe in the sanctity of marriage. Like your mother Kimberly I am bitterly disappointed in the both of you. Go into the lounge room while we responsible and sensible adults decide on what action to take next because, believe me you are both going to be punished."

With heads hanging down they both went and sat in separate chairs in the next room, while they could hear their parents talking they couldn't make out the words.

Finally after what seemed like an hour but in fact was only five minutes, they were summoned back into the kitchen. Kimberley's mom looked as if she had been made spokesperson, "Both of us are saddened that you deliberately misled us last night, with lies before spending the night together doing goodness knows what. We trusted you both expecting you to act as sensible young people." She paused to take a breath and Carlos' mom took over.

"What really hurts is the fact that you both lied to us to cover up what you had in mind, and I for one thought my son would never stoop so low as to let his animal instincts take over his conscience."

Kimberly by now was close to tears and Carlos dearly wanted to put his arm around her to comfort her but was afraid to do so.

Kimberly's mom spoke again, "We have talked it over and have decided that you are both grounded for a month. We can't stop you seeing each other at school but you're not to talk or visit each other's homes in fact see each other outside of school hours for one whole month and that also includes phone calls."

Both of them knew that it was no good protesting their punishment so they just stood saying nothing and accepted it.

Kimberly was taken by the hand and led from the room, outside and into the car with no chance of saying goodbye. While Carlos stormed out of the room and up to his bedroom where he watched his girlfriend driven away and out of his life for a month.

The first thing next morning Luke was up early and although it was a Sunday he showered, dressed and headed in to work stopping by McDonalds to pick up some breakfast. He did think about heading for the Texas Rangers office to check up on what he had to, but decided his new office as assistant chief of police would also give him the information he wanted.

Walking through the detective's room he was met with hostile stares and knew full well that his appointment to this job was not being received too well especially among the more senior detectives. Showing that he didn't care he made a point of saying a cheery good morning to all those on duty, some answered and some didn't.

In his office while his computer was firing up he ate breakfast and fixed himself a fresh cup of coffee. Logging into the appropriate system he began searching through the wanted details from crimes committed some time ago until he found the one he wanted.

There it was `Wanted on suspicion of rape Mark Schubert' details of the crime were sketchy so he decided Monday Morning he would call the investigating office in Amarillo and try to find out a bit more.

Now that he was in his office he decided to do a bit more work and began studying the files of his senior officers. He was in a dilemma because he had no idea who was good and who was bad, so on the off chance that he too might be working he went next door to Paul Alverez' office. He knocked on the door and a familiar voice called for him to come in.

Paul was behind his desk and it looked like he was working on the same problem as he was weeding out the good from the bad. "Good morning Luke take a seat and join me in a cup of coffee I could do with a break."

Luke agreed and they sat chatting first in general then Luke asked Paul, "Would you like to go through my detective files with me and point out the good and bad one's?"

"Sure having worked in the detective section for some time I have a good idea what most of them are like."

They spent the next hour or so going through Luke's list with Paul making comments on each one and by the time they had finished Luke had a good idea on who he could and could not trust.

"Thanks for your help Paul, I feel I'm going to have a few problems as I'm sure you are too with some of my officers the reception I received this morning as I walked through the office was to say the least hostile."

Paul Alvarez agreed that he too was having problems with many of his senior officers and suggested that on, tomorrow they set up a meeting with the chief and discuss some of the potential trouble makers with him.

Luke agreed and then suggested that they go and have lunch together. Both of them could feel a strong bond of friendship developing between them and knew that they would be able to rely on each other in running their respective departments.

Over lunch they talked about their personal lives, getting to know each other even better, "I've never had a steady girlfriend." Luke admitted before continuing, "Oh I've had a few flings and a couple of affairs which could have developed into something else but the Texas Rangers always appeared to get in the way and I'd be off to another part of the state for a few weeks. Things like that."

"During my college years I was dating a girl for almost a year and we finished up moving in together, but once we graduated and went to different parts of the country our relationship fizzled out and since then I've been married to the El Paso Police Department. I have thought many a times alone in my bed that it's about time I got back into dating and finding the right girl to maybe settle down with and have kids." Paul explained

Luke agreed with him on everything he said before confiding in Paul that he rather liked the secretary who was working for him. "Oh yes, Pru lovely girl took her out to dinner a couple of times but that was as far as it went but she's great company , she told me she had no intensions of ever dating regularly a police officer because of the complicated lives they lead , so good luck with that one Luke."

Garrett and Jake were both sitting on Jake's bed discussing the move they were going to be making tomorrow to the Joey Alvarez shelter. Neither had much idea about the place, except that a whole floor of this rather grand hotel was going to be their home for the next few years.

"I was able to swing it that you and I are in the same room." Jake told his buddy with a smile on his face.

"That's good at least we won't be living with total strangers."

"I also found out that we have our own back entrance and elevator to our floor but we eat with everyone else downstairs in the dining room."

Garrett turned pale when he heard that news. Which Jake picked up on right away, "What's the problem with that buddy?"

"The young guy I beat up and the reason why I'm here also lives in the hotel right now and I don't want to meet him face to face." Garrett said.

"Don't worry man from what I can work out we're separate from the others and one of the instructors here seems to think we'll even have separate meal times. Looking closely at Garrett, Jake then changed the subject, "and of course after the bed checks have been done we can have a little bit of fun if you catch my drift." He winked at Garrett when he said that.

With a worried look on his face Garrett said, "Look Jake I like you as a friend, you're a great guy and have been a big help to me since I've been here and yes I know we've fooled around like, well, you know sex wise, but I don't think I'm gay." He paused gathering his thoughts which right now were all jumbled up. "Don't expect me to go all the way with you Jake because I don't want to do that." He paused, "oh what the fucking hell I don't know what I want or what I want to do."

Jake just nodded his head smiling, before putting his arm around Garrett pulling him to him saying, "Don't worry Garrett I'll look after you man and help you with all your needs sexual and otherwise, so don't worry." He pulled Garrett even closer to him before pulling his head around and kissing Garrett full on the lips.

Becoming even more confused Garrett couldn't help getting hard and excited with this large black American young man kissing him and before long he was once again following him to the bathroom and another blow job session which Garrett didn't think he enjoyed, but he was so mixed up inside and Jake wasn't helping his confused state of mind any.

Carlos at a loss at what to do without Kimberly around and wanting to get out of the house asked his parents if he could go to the hotel to see how Davey was. They agreed but told him he would have to find his own way there because they weren't going to drive him. It had been a long time since he had got his bicycle out of the garage but it was still rideable and that had to be his mode of transport.

Davey and Johnny Walker junior had slept in mainly because Davey's medication kept him feeling sleepy, but also because they both felt so comfortable lying in each other's arms. It was Gloria who like the day before got them out of bed and downstairs so that they wouldn't miss breakfast and it was there that Carlos found them when he walked in.

Of course the first thing the guys wanted to know was were Kimberly was at and while Carlos didn't want to admit everything that went on he did find himself telling Davey and Johnny the truth. Both burst out laughing at Carlos misfortune which made him a bit mad but he soon came round to their way of thinking and began laughing himself.

Just then Kimberly walked in and as soon as she saw Carlos freaked out, "What the hell are you doing here." She yelled as her mother walked in behind her. "So this is why you wanted me to come and see how Davey was you scheming little witch. I can see the both of you finishing up being grounded for life."

Protesting Kimberly said, "I didn't know Carlos was going to be here honest mom."

"And you expect me to believe that after last night's episode?"

"It's true." Carlos butted in, "For something to do I decided to also come and see how Davey was and had no idea that Kimberly was going to be here as well."

"Well I suppose it could be a coincidence, but that doesn't alter the fact that you are both here and Kimberly you are coming straight home with me." At that she marched her daughter straight back out of the door without a backwards glance not giving Kimberly and Carlos any chance at talking and barely looking at each other.

"Boy are you two really in trouble?" Johnny remarked with a laugh. With Davey joining in.

"Come on you guys it's not funny. One whole month with no alone time with Kimberly isn't going to be much fun." Carlos pointed out.

"If you were gay nothing would have been said about you sleeping with your boyfriend, it's all about boy and girl relationships and getting pregnant. We guys don't have that problem." All three of them laughed at that remark from Davey as they made their way to the TV room to watch a movie.

Margaret Buchannan's lawyer had a touch of the guilt's and decided to make a last ditch stand on getting her out on bail. He was lucky to get a bail judge on a Sunday and presented his application to him without having Margaret in court thinking that it would be better if she was not around in case she opened her mouth and said something to spoil her chances.

The judge studied the application closely before coming to a decision, "This lady has problems, she drinks, is short tempered, and swears a lot and the charges against her are very serious."

"But your honour, it will be several weeks maybe months before her case comes to court and because of the fragile nature of this lady it is quite possible that incarceration will have a detrimental effect."

Once again the judge studied the file in front of him before coming to a decision, "Before I set and grant bail I would like this lady to be sent for a psychiatric assessment, which I'm sure you will be able to arrange by tomorrow and I will hear evidence from the duly appointed person straight away when they are ready. Therefore the balls in your court sir." He banged his gavel and the hearing was over.

Once the movie was over and Carlos headed back home, Gloria found them reminding Davey of something he had completely slipped his mind, "Don't forget Davey you told us that you would like to go to school tomorrow so you'd better get up to your room and sort out your books and what you are going to wear, I don't want you rushing around at the last minute tomorrow looking for things."

"Your right mom I had forgotten, I'll go do that right away, come on Johnny you can help me."

"Of course if you feel like staying home Dr Whitmore did say that you should have a bit more time off." Gloria said.

"It's ok mom, I feel much better today and those pills he gave me worked real good."

As he left the room with Johnny behind, Gloria yelled out one last reminder, "And don't forget Johnny has to go home with his mom straight after supper tonight."

That message took the smile off their faces, but both of them knew there was nothing they could do about it. The first thing they did when they got to Davey's room was to begin making out both of them kissing and feeling each other up their hands everywhere except Davey's ass which of course was out of bounds as far as Johnny was concerned.

He never once tried to go there for fear of upsetting Davey and was contented to just hold kiss and love his new boyfriend. Davey had reached the point where he would like to take their relationship just that little bit further but each time he thought about it the picture of what happened in his first day at El Paso high kept flashing up in his mind.

He was worried that he might never be able to go all the way with Johnny and that he would lose him. Johnny kept telling him that he would wait but everyone has a time limit Davey was convinced of that.

By the time they were called back down to supper not much getting ready for school had taken place, "I'll soon have things sorted out after your gone Johnny." Davey assured him.

Sally was just finishing supper and getting ready to go to Bethany's apartment, when Luke called in to see her. She had a few problems at the hotel to sort out with a couple of the boys who were having nightmares so was only able to talk to her girlfriend a couple of times on the phone. Besides she wanted to know how Luke had got on finding anything else out about Bethany's brothers wanted poster.

"Hi mom I thought you would have been at Bethany's place by now?" Luke asked.

"Yes I should have been but a couple of the boys had problems here today so I couldn't get away and they come first before my love life." She told him before adding, "How did you go finding out about Bethany's brother Mark?"

"Not sure, it certainly looks as if he is the one wanted for rape and he was in the area at the time so I don't know. I'm going to talk to the detective handling the case tomorrow and see what I can find out."

"I certainly hope that they have the wrong man for Bethany's sake, and also for his wife and lovely kids."

They chatted a bit more over a cup of coffee before Sally said that she had better go and see what her lover was up to. A quick kiss goodnight and Sally left for her lover's apartment and Luke headed out to the hotel where he was staying. On the way he began to think that he would have to start looking for something more permanent now that he was staying in El Paso. Also, just lately he had found himself yearning for some female company, not just for a one night stand but something on a more permanent basis.

Driving along he began to realise that he wasn't getting any younger and all the guys around his age were now married with a couple of kids and he really felt that he wanted to start a family. He then thought about his new young secretary, thinking what a nice attractive girl she was with an enchanting smile. The next thought going through his head was did the EPPD have any rules regarding senior officers dating the hired help, plus there was the revelation Paul made about her not wanting a lasting relationship with a police officer. Smiling to himself he thought he would have to check that out, discreetly of course.

After a long passionate kiss in the Hotel car park which was interrupted by Johnny's mother sounding the car horn impatiently the two young lovers said their goodbyes after spending a long weekend with each other. Both of them tonight would be sleeping alone and the thought made both of them sad.

"I'll see you at school first thing tomorrow." Davey whispered into his new lover's ear as they parted. On the way back into the hotel he was told there was a phone call for him. Wondering who on earth it could be he headed towards the reception desk to pick up the phone.

"Hello this is Davey Hernandez speaking." He said and this was followed by a long pause on the other end of the phone making Davey think that whoever it was had hung up, He repeated what he had said and then a soft voice said, "Hello Davey."

He had no idea who it was so he rather timidly replied, "Hello."

"I heard you had changed your name and moved but I had a hell of a job finding you." The mystery voice continued.

"I'm sorry but who am I speaking to?"

"It's your old next door neighbour, Jarod."

Davey almost dropped the phone and went deathly white as he began to recall exactly who was on the end of the phone.

"You still there Davey?"

"Yes I'm still here, just surprized to hear from you, aren't you still in jail?"

"No, my lawyer has launched an appeal against my sentence and I am out on bail until my case is heard. Of course I'm not supposed to be talking to you but I really wanted to hear your voice again and find out what happened to you."

"Jarod I really don't want to talk about it and I'm so mixed up I don't think I want to talk to you either. I'm sorry Jarod because we had some wonderful times together when you were living next door to me and I was with those horrible foster parents, but I'm trying to forget all that."

Once again there was silence with neither of them speaking. Until Jarod came back, "I'm sorry if I am upsetting you Davey so I'll hang up right now but may I call you again in a couple of weeks or something like that maybe even sooner?"

"Give me your phone number and I'll call you."

"That's not possible Davey for fear of getting caught I can only use a public phone and I had to sell my home to pay all my lawyer fees so I'm in a sort of half-way house right now."

More silence then Davey said, "Ok Jarod, just let me get my thoughts together your call as my brain whirling right now and I need time, don't get me wrong it was nice to hear from you but just leave me alone for a while."

Without waiting for an answer he hung up the phone. He sat down in the foyer and began shaking like a leaf. A couple of the guys walked past asking if he was ok and he managed to say everything was all right.

He headed for the elevator and his room wanting to be alone so he could sort his head out. He was wishing that Johnny Walker was here right now so that he had someone to lean on. In his room he lay down on the bed staring at the ceiling and tears began to form in his eyes as he recalled what had happened to his old friend Jarod Dempsey.

He began to recall the time not that long ago really when he was living next door to Jarod who was the local high school football coach who, since he took over they had been undefeated for the past two years. When his foster parents the Carson's began to mentally abuse him for being gay he turned more and more to Jarod who was someone to talk to who was able to help him. At twenty six Jarod was also gay but in the closet because of his coaching position.

Davey began to remember the first night when they had sex and realised Jarod loved him and he had also fallen in love with Jarod. Davey knew right away that what they were doing together was illegal but neither of them cared because they both fell in love with each other.

Tears formed once again when he recalled that terrible night when he had just come home from next door and gone to bed when the police raided Jarod's house and arrested him for having sex with an underage boy.

This had all been set by up Mrs Carson in an effort to get Davey into trouble and locked up in juvenile but the plan backfired and it was Jarod who went to jail. Davey thought back then that is world was coming to an end. Then he began to recall what happened after that when the football team blamed him for taking their star coach away from them and the torture he suffered at their hands.

Thinking about all this brought Davey out in a cold sweat and he began shaking and then when the reality of his recollections kicked in he began screaming which brought Gloria and Andy rushing into his room from next door.

"Davey, what's wrong what's the matter, are you having another bad dream?" Gloria asked as she sat on the edge of the bed cuddling her new fragile son.

Still shaking and sobbing Davey explained, "I must have dropped off to sleep and had a flashback to my earlier life."

"Well once you start seeing the doctor that Dr Whitmore recommended you should get better because I'm sure he will be able to help you."

Davey agreed with her saying, "Yes I'm sure he will. Mom I'm ok now and would like to take a shower and go to bed. I love you and my new dad very much and I will try to not worry you too much."

Gloria kissed him on the cheek and then both she and Andy went back to their room to get ready for bed. Once they were in bed Gloria turned to Andy, "Are you still certain that you want to marry me again?"

"I've never been more certain about anything before Gloria and I was thinking about it for quite a while today and I think we should talk to Jacob and the rest of the family about setting a date, maybe after Jacob is able to walk a bit better."

Before going to sleep they both kissed each other agreeing that it was time for them to get the ball rolling and become Mr and Mrs again.

Meanwhile Bethany was getting a few vibes from Sally that all was not well, the feelings that she was getting from her new girlfriend weren't as strong. They were lying on the couch watching some stupid movie on TV just content to be in each other's arms but she sensed that Sally was holding something back.

"Baby I'm getting a feeling that something's wrong. Is it something I've said or done to upset you, if it is for goodness sake tell me so we can talk it out. What's on your mind Sally?"

Sally had hoped that the thing worrying her, regarding her brother she had been able to cover up and hide from Bethany but it looks like she hadn't been able to.

"It's nothing really Beth," The name she had decided to call her from now on. It's certainly nothing to do with you and me. I'm falling head over heels in love with you and don't intend to let anything come between us."

Kissing her passionately Beth said, "And the feeling is mutual, I feel that I want to spend the rest of my life with you and to hell with the outside world." They kissed some more before Beth continued, "But if there is something bothering you, our relationship will be much stronger if we are open and honest with each other."

Sally did not reply right away being undecided about telling her lover what Luke had found out about her brother. She realised that Beth was right they should never keep secrets from each other if their relationship was to succeed, what I have to tell you as nothing directly to do with you or I and our lives but it does involve members of our families."

Beth looked puzzled but still pressed Sally for the details, "I would still like to know what is bothering you?"

"Ok, but I suggest that we wait and see the outcome of what I am about to tell you is that all right?"

Beth nodded her head in agreement and Sally went on, "Yesterday evening when we met your brother and his wife something was worrying Luke and it wasn't until the party split up that he figured out what it was." Sally was beginning to get really worried now and wished she hadn't decided to tell Beth about Luke's fears.

"You see Luke was certain that there was a wanted poster out for your brother Mark." She paused and watched the shocked reaction which spread over her girlfriends face.

"Surely he's wrong; there must be some kind of mistake. My brother has never so much had a speeding ticket. No I'm sorry Luke as made a big mistake and has the wrong guy."

"That's what Luke said, but when he went into his office this morning he did find a warrant out for the arrest of Mark Schubert and it was from the city he was living in at the time of the offence."

"What is the offence some minor misdemeanour I'm sure?"

"Sorry Beth but he's wanted for rape of a teenage girl."

Beth sat up straight moving away from Sally to the other side of the couch. Looking at her lover she said, "I can't possible believe that is true. I know my brother and I'm certain he would do anything like that. I think your son is upset that you have found someone to love and he is jealous."

Sally sat there open mouthed not believing the ridiculous statement which just came from Beth's mouth, "My son would be one of the most honest hardworking police officers in the whole state of Texas and would never ever do what you are suggesting. He is very happy that I have at last found someone to love, but after that last statement you just made I'm having doubts myself. My son would never ever stoop that low as to try and interfere with my happiness."

Both of them sat at each end of the couch glaring at each other not believing the stand each other is taking to protect their kin, "Luke told me not to say anything until he spoke with the arresting officer tomorrow and got all the details but no you wanted to know what was on my mind right now. I should have waited and that's my mistake but to come out with that statement that my son is deliberately trying to break us up is just too much."

Sally stood up gathering together her coat and bag before heading out the door without saying another word. All the way back to the hotel she went over and over in her mind everything that had been said, unable to get past the accusation Bethany made regarding her Luke.

Margaret Buchanan's lawyer knew it was going to cost big time but he was able to get the services of a psychiatrist who was willing to see her on a Sunday afternoon. Margaret was quite surprised when her cell door opened and she was told to get ready because she had a visitor.

Walking down to the interview room the only person she could think of was her lawyer which was partly true, but when she was shown into the room and told to sit at the table she was surprised when two men walked in and sat down.

Her lawyer explained what the bail judge had said before introducing her to a middle aged slightly bald man with the name of Peter Johnson. Her lawyer left them alone saying that he wouldn't be too far away if needed.

Peter introduced himself to Margaret before explaining, "This I think is going to be difficult for both of us because we are in the same profession. Your lawyer asked me to see you because I am out of town from Boston, here visiting my father. It might be best if you are completely honest and straight forward with me telling me everything about yourself, your lifestyle and of course why you are in prison."

Margaret took a liking to this guy and it didn't take long for her to open up to him explaining everything including her incestuous relationship with her son Garrett. Peter in the main just listened asking the odd question now and again. It was two hours later that they finished their conversation.

Peter Johnson had recorded everything on tape and had also made a few notes on paper. He thanked Margaret for being so open and honest about everything. Telling her that he would listen to the recording he made and talk to her early tomorrow morning before going before the bail judge. Anxious for answers she said, "Can you give me any indication on what you are going to say, do I have a chance at getting bail?"

"As I just explained I will have to listen to everything that was said before making a decision so you must be patient, sorry but that's all I can tell you right now." He smiled at her before heading out the door.

Margaret was quite impressed by this man and wondered if he was married thinking they might make a good team together. Her lawyer came back in also smiling and looking pleased, "that appeared to have gone very well." He told Margaret.

"Tell me is that man married or is he available?" She asked with a smile on her face.

"I'm sorry Margaret but he is gay and has a partner, also a doctor and they have been together for over thirty years having met at Oxford University."

"He's what gay, what a fucking waste of a good guy."

Her lawyer said his goodbyes and Margaret was led back to her cell.

Davey had a restless night for two good reasons. First he was sleeping alone and missing the warmth and love of Johnny Walker and second the phone call from his old friend Jarod was praying on his mind. He had strong feelings for this older guy when they were together because at that time he was the only friend he had in the world and if the truth ever came out it him who seduced Jarod into having a sexual relationship with him.

So, when the alarm went off next morning he found it difficult to get out of bed to get ready for school. It took a bang on the door from Gloria to finally get him into the bathroom and shower before dressing, gathering his school books together and heading down for breakfast.

Along with all the other guys when it was time to go he went out to the car park not sure who he was going to school with. There were so many vehicles heading to school, but it was Jacob who told him to go along with him and Cesar.

He headed along with all the others to the cafeteria for breakfast and felt much happier to see Johnny waiting for him. They got into the line and stood there chatting in general before getting their food and joining the gang at Jacob's table.

He could feel that some of the other students were staring at him and talking behind his back which made him feel a little bit uncomfortable but Johnny sensing this brought him into a conversation just between the two of them.

"I missed sleeping with you last night Davey, alone in my own bed made for a lonely night."

"Me too. I wish we could be together every night."

"Maybe when we are all living in Jacob's new place we will be able to talk our parents into something more permanent and live together." Johnny said. A statement which brought a smile to Davey's face as he reached under the table to hold his boyfriends hand.

They noticed several others at the table smiling at them and realized that their conversation and hand holding had been heard and noticed by the other guys. Both of them blushed but were secretly pleased that their relationship was accepted by everyone in their circle of friends.

The only ones missing from the cafeteria were Carlos & Kimberly who as soon as they met at school headed for a quiet part of the school so they could kiss and talk, "You have no idea how much I missed you yesterday and we have twenty nine days at least before we are back together again." Kimberly said with tears forming in her eyes.

Carlos agreed with her kissing her tenderly on the lips before remarking, "That one day felt like a month to me, but I had to laugh at the look on your mothers face when she walked into the hotel and found me there."

Both of them laughed at that before settling down to a session of making out and chatting together.

The first bell rang and all the guys began making their way to their lockers and then to the first class of the day. Johnny stayed close to Davey and also noticed that several of the others guys from the table also kept close to make sure nothing happened to their friend.

Davey and Johnny walked into their first class of the day together and as soon as the teacher spotted Davey she called him over, "Before you start classes Principal Michaels would like to see you in his office."

This worried Davey and by the time he got to the principal's office he was visibly shaking wondering what on earth was wrong now.

One of the ladies behind the counter spotted him as soon as he came through the door and told him to go right into the principal's office because he was waiting for him. Timidly knocking on the door he was told to come in and was surprised to see Principle Michaels standing next to his desk waiting for him just as the lady on the counter had said.

"Come in Davey and take a seat please. I just want to have a little chat with you before you start back." The principal said extending his hand out for Davey to shake it. He wasn't used to such friendliness from teaching staff but the principal's smile and friendly demeanour put him at his ease.

He sat down and instead of going back behind his desk principal Michaels came and sat next to him, "Davey a lot has happened to you since you were last in this school and I hope all those troubles are behind you. If at any time you feel threatened or worried about anything going on in the school please come and see me, my door will be always open and I don't want anything else happening to you."

All Davey could get out was a timid thank you, but he felt much more at ease after hearing those words from this man.

"I have spoken to your old principal since we last met and while according to him he was happy to see you go because of the trouble happening around you he was also sad because of your academic marks and also your incredible gymnastic ability which I was surprised to hear had attracted the attention of those in a higher position and there was even talk of you becoming an Olympic contender in the future."

Principal Michaels was all smiles when he passed this information onto Davey because to have a talented athlete like he was in the school was great for the schools image and meant that not only did he have a potential country music superstar, a wealthy and influential business tycoon but also a star athlete, "I hope that you will continue with your gymnastics and if you do I will make sure that you have ample opportunity to train and be coached well."

Again, blushing and feeling embarrassed at the high opinion the principal already had of him all he could do was mumble his thanks.

"Do you also plan to continue with your karate training?"

"Yes sir I hope to join a club as soon as I am fit and several of my friends including Carlos Medina and Johnny Walker along with a couple of other guys are also going to take up the sport with me."

"Ah yes, Johnny Walker who I believe you have become very close to?"

The look of surprise on Davey's face made principal Michaels laugh out loud, "Don't look so shocked I don't miss much of what is going on around here." He paused, thinking about something and didn't speak again until he had made his mind up, "If there is enough interest in Karate in the school and we can find the funding for equipment and so on, you being a black belt as well would you be interested in forming a karate club in school?"

"That offer certainly took Davey by surprise as he thought to himself, the principal is full of surprises today, "Well sir that would be wonderful and I am now high enough up in the order to become a teacher and to have it in the school would be great."

The enthusiasm Davey showed in his voice demonstrated to Principal Michaels that he would look into the possibilities of this straight away. Not only would it teach some of the students how to defend themselves but also how to deal with their inner self. He wasn't totally sure what karate was but thought he was on the right track.

Thanking Davey for his time and telling him once more that any problems and he could always come to him he opened his door so that Davey could return to class.

Peter Johnson true to his word was sitting in Margaret Buchanan's lawyer's office presenting his report to him on Margaret's state of mind, "She is a very mixed up woman, totally confused right now and still not fully aware of what is happening to her. But I don't think being in prison right now is going to help her. I don't think she is a suicide risk she is too strong willed for that, plus if she stays off the drink her state of mind will improve."

He paused going through his notes and checking his phone, "My flight back to Boston is in three hours' time so if you would like me to appear before the bail judge it must be done very soon. I am going to recommend bail on the provision that she drinks no alcohol whatsoever."

Her lawyer thanked him telling him that he will contact the judge right now and hopefully he will see them right away.

"Just one other thing. Margaret needs ongoing treatment and while I would love to stay and take her on as my patient but I can't do that, still she is a very interesting case and I would love to know how she ends up."

Dr Johnson left the lawyer to organise the bail hearing, going back to his hotel to pack. While he was doing this Sally was sitting very unhappy in her office. Several times she had tried to call Bethany only to be told that she was in conference and could not be disturbed. She also tried her cell phone but got her message bank.

The next thing she did was call Luke and he wasn't much help either, telling her that the detective handling Bethany's brothers case was unavailable till later in the day when he would be on duty. Slamming down the phone she sat staring into space thinking that what she thought was going to be a wonderful phase in her life was rapidly turning into a disaster.

Mind you she didn't have a lot of time to sit around because a new intake of guys into the lock up floor of the hotel was arriving and she had to brief them on the rules and regulations and also arrange for their ankle bracelets to be fitted.

In fact when she called Luke he was just about to go into a meeting with Chief Falster and Paul Hernandez to discuss the problems they were having with some of the senior officers.

After the usual formal greetings all three of them sat down with a cup of coffee to go through the lists of officers they had gathered between them, "Let me say guys that whatever hiring and firing you do I will back you all the way and trust your judgment implicitly."

They both thanked the chief for his vote of confidence and continued working through their lists. Finally it was decided that they would be looking at several officers they weren't so sure about and decided that Paul and Luke would help each other by attending these meetings with these officers together.

"Well guys I think this has been a productive couple of hours and I wish you well with your interviews."

They both thanked the chief before heading back to their own offices.

While this meeting was going on Margaret Buchanan was being transported to the court for her bail hearing. As soon as she was off loaded her lawyer rushed her into court were Dr Johnson was waiting, and within minutes they were in front of the judge who commented on her lawyer's efficiency.

Peter Johnson presented his report before dashing out of the courtroom, rushing to catch his flight back to Boston.

The judge studied the report before saying anything more, "In view of the report I have before me I am granting bail on the following conditions that cash or bond of half a million dollars is posted and until after your trial lady you do not consume any alcohol whatsoever. You will report to the EPPD every second day and will undertake a sobriety test. The Dr also recommended you seek professional help and I am loath to order that before your case his heard but if you wish to do so in a voluntary capacity then it is up to you."

With those words he banged his gavel down a couple of times and the hearing was over. Her lawyer had her taken into an interview room at the courthouse so they could discuss the bail conditions, "We caught him in a good mood today I'm happy to say. With regards to your bail I think it you put up your apartment as collateral you should have no problems raising the money and I should have you out of prison later today."

Feeling very happy and relieved she thanked her lawyer before she was escorted back to prison.

Back in his own office Luke sat for a moment trying to make up his mind about something before deciding he should go for broke.

"He called on the intercom for Pru his lovely young secretary to come into his office and within seconds she was there. Inviting her to sit down he got the business side of the meeting out of the way first asking her to set up appointments with the list of officers he gave her for them to meet up with Officer Paul Hernandez and himself. He also asked her to carry out several other tasks before getting to the subject which was uppermost on his mind, "Pru, I hope I may call you that and I would appreciate if you would call me Luke when we are in this office."

She agreed smiling the most sweetest smile which set his heart fluttering and his dick to get hard. Good job I'm behind my desk and can hide that he thought to himself. "I don't know if it is appropriate or not but would you care to have dinner with me sometime?"

"Thank you for the invitation Luke and yes I would love to have dinner one evening I don't get to go out too often these days."

"Well how about tonight if you have nothing else on. I would like to get to know you a little better because we will be working closely together and I will be relying on you regarding the way things are run around here until I get into the swing of things."

"Thank you Luke tonight will be fine." After that they got back to business but Luke was captivated every time Pru smiled.

Garrett, Jake and several other members of the special school they were at had an early breakfast packed up their possessions and were on a prison bus for the halfway house before most people had breakfast.

From what the guys had heard they were looking forward to moving in because by all accounts it was a very nice place. On the approach to the hotel they marvelled at how big the building was. The bus drove past the front entrance and into the car park round the back stopping by a service entrance. Their guards began to off load them and as they went into the hotel they noticed an elevator with a sign on it saying, `This elevator is for the use of those housed on the detention floor which is floor nine and no one else. Please note that is the only floor this elevator will stop at except for the ground floor.'

"Hey man look at that we even have our own personal elevator." Jake remarked nudging Garrett in the ribs. They were loaded onto the elevator which at one time must have been used for carrying goods and furniture and stuff like that. Once the elevator stopped and they all got out they were surprised at the luxuriously carpeted corridor running the whole length of the building with rooms off to one side and windows down the other.

"Man, I think I've died and gone to heaven surely we're in the wrong place?" Jake whispered to Garrett who was looking around in amazement. Their guards produced a list and began calling out names putting two to a room as they went down the corridor.

"Just put your belongings inside and come back out right away making your way back to the room next the elevator which is a general common or meeting room for all of you." One of the guards told them.

They didn't even have time to check anything out before they were being told to get a move on. So they all hurried down to the room near the elevator which had tables and chairs and also a massive TV one of the biggest the guys had ever seen.

Apart from their guards who had escorted them from the school there were a couple of other guys and a woman. Right away they began to fit them all with their ankle bracelets so they could be traced at all times, and when that was done the lady who introduced herself as Sally Hughes explained that she was the head of the social services department in the Joey Alvarez centre.

"Welcome to you all and I note that some of you look like being with us for some considerable time. While the accommodation is a lot better than what you are used to you should also remember that you are still part of the Texas prison system and any misdemeanours which occur here could mean you will be moving somewhere not as nice."

Sally paused to let that sink in before continuing, "There are other social services in this hotel and under no circumstances are to speak or have anything to do with the other residents. Once again if you do you will be removed from here. You will have your meals in the same dining room downstairs as everyone else living in this centre, except your section of the dining room will be partition off from the rest of the room. Meal times are posted in your rooms as are your schedules for being taken to and from the school."

You will notice there are phones in the room but they are not connected for outside calls. You will receive calls from time to time whenever for some reason your schedules are changed or you may be required to go to court or to see your lawyer who will have access to the smaller interview room next to this one. There will be a security guard on duty on this floor at all times."

She asked if anyone had any questions but everyone was still overawed by the whole set up and kept quite so they were told to go to their rooms to unpack and then be ready to go down to lunch at noon.

Garrett and Jake made their way back to their room and stood just inside the door marvelling at the size of the room and the two large beds complete with bedside tables and lamps. Two wardrobes and two chest of drawers along with a couple of easy chairs made up the rest of the furniture, but what amazed the boys was the big TV set in the corner which was at least a thirty seven inch.

Garrett made his way over to the bathroom and when he opened the door he called for Jake, "hey man come and take a look at this." Jake walked over to join him in the doorway whistling in amazement at the bathroom which was almost as big as the bedroom with a big shower cubicle complete with double shower heads so both could shower at the same time. A double sink and toilet, and two large bath towels were hanging from heated towel rails, with hand towels and face washers on the wash basins.

"This is luxury plus, we're in a five star prison man." Was all Jake could get out. They began unpacking their bags and putting stuff away before lying on their beds to wait for the call to lunch.

Davey and Johnny had just got their lunch and were sitting at their usual table with Jacob, Cesar and the rest of the guys when one of Jacob's security detail came up whispering something in Jacob's ear. Jacob looked across at Davey a worried look on his face before beckoning Davey to join him as he moved some distance from the table so they wouldn't be overheard.

"Davey, do you know a guy called ...

To Be Continued

Writers Corner: Once again this chapter of Rebirth had a lot of things happening over a short space of time. As I think I explained last time this story is still five days ahead of Jacob's stories and because we use some of these characters in both of our stories I have to move things along slowly, but so much is happening in different parts of El Paso that while only about twelve to eighteen hours went by from start to finish it was still a busy chapter.

Now to the chapter itself. Sally and Bethany are going through a rough patch right now because of the charge of rape against Bethany's brother Mark. Hopefully the full story of Mark's alleged rape will be revealed in the next chapter and then maybe, just maybe the two ladies will get back together again. I certainly hope so.

A lot more was heard about Davey in this chapter some good things and some not so good. The appearance via the telephone of Jarod, Davey's old next door neighbour came out of the blue and shook Davey to the core. I can see a few problems coming up later with this guy. Remember that Davey was well and truly in love with this guy and he was there for Davey when he needed someone badly, which makes me think about Johnny Walker will he be put on the backburner and replaced by this older guy. I doubt it but then I have learnt to be mean and nasty when writing from my good buddy Jacob.

Luke and Paul as well have their work cut out in their new positions with the EPPD with some stormy days ahead I'm sure. It looks like Luke has the hots big time for his new secretary Pru and I hope once again he has some luck with that possible relationship although Paul as also dated her a couple of times so maybe some rivalry could be creeping in there as well.

It looks to me as if the prison system is getting too soft on some of these juveniles. After all Garrett did to poor Davey and Carlos he appears to have come out of it very nice indeed. Of course he had to testify against his mother and the other Margaret to get these benefits which is a good thing because without his testimony the district attorney would have trouble making the charges stick.

A real member of the psychiatric profession my adopted son Peter made a cameo appearance in this chapter when he prepared a report on Margaret Buchanan for the court. He lives and practises in Boston along with his partner who has been with him for over thirty five years.

Peter features strongly in one of my other stories the Adventures of Cliff and Derek and if you go back to some of the earlier chapters of the book to you will find out how I came to adopt him. That part of my story is fact.

I think the cliff-hanger will be easily solved by everyone it is a bit obvious or is it? LOL.

I have added a proof reader to my list of great guys checking my stories and a big welcome to Richie who had been reading my stories for over two years I think. There are still a few un-American words creeping in from my British and Australian upbringing, so I need all the help I can get.

Last week I added more bios and pictures to the Rebirth site so when you have the opportunity go in a check them out and tell me what you think.

Finally I hope 2012 turns out to be everything you want it to be and that you will continue to enjoy our stories. Please let us know how we are doing we love to hear from you.

Hugs

Trevor
