Zach Brimstone Final Chapter edited

All the T's and C's apply.

Hey guys, normally I put a note at the end of the chapter but I thought this news cannot wait. I just launched a Kickstarter page to hopefully raise money to get Zach Brimstone turn into a paperback book. It will be professional edited and printed. Also it would be available as a e-book too. Here is the link if you guys can help Donate to this cause.

Thanks in advance for all the support, Samuel

The porch of this once happy place has some leaves blowing over it. We see a yellow strip with black writing on it. It is dangling in the wind as the wind blows through the porch. We see the writing on it, "DO NOT CROSS" in big bold letters. We walk in and notice everything has been removed from the house, a couple of birds squawked outside. The place is empty except a few items left over from the police investigation and some chalk outlines on the floor that have not vanished. Next to the chalk outlines were dry blood stains from the fight that went on inside this once happy home.

Damien's P.O.V.

I walked into the house that I was raped in. A flood of memories came back into my mind. My mind started flashing back on that night; Zach noticed and squeezed my hand a little. It brought me back from my memories. I looked over at him and smiled. He did notice that my smile was a little forced but he just smiled back at me. It made me feel a little better but I still was worried that Logan might come back.

We walked into the living room and the room was dark. Zach went to flip the light switch but the light did not turn on. He came back to me and said, "The lights seem to be out, must be a broken fuse or something. Just sit here while I go into the bedroom. You can rest."

Ok babe, I will clean up a little here in the living room," I said and walked over to the table. I started picking things up and arranging them on the table. Zach came over and pinched my ass that was stuck out a little. I moan from the touch. His hands wrapped around my waist and he gave me the biggest hug and I felt his face nuzzle into my neck. I just melted into his hug. He turned his head and kissed my neck. He started to suck on my neck and another moaned escaped my mouth. I knew what he was doing and it started to get me in the mood.

He was trying to replace the bad memories in my mind about this place with some new and better ones. It was working. I let him work his magic and then he whispered in my ear, "Let's continue this a little later but let's finish up here first."

I just shook my head as his hands unwrapped from my waist. He kissed my neck one more time before leaving me alone in the living room. He went into the bedroom and I could hear him slowly shuffling through certain objects in there. He must be grabbing a suitcase and packing up our clothes. I picked up some magazines off the floor and arranged them on the table.

As soon as I put the magazines on the table, I heard movement behind me. I thought that Zach had come back from the bedroom. That is when I felt something pushed onto my back. It felt round and I still though it was Zach coming back to finish what he started a few moments ago.

"Oh Zach, you could not wait for later to come," I said to the person behind me.

Then he leaned in and whispered in my ear, "I am not Zach, but I can still give you a good time."

That sent a shiver down my spine; my mind went racing to what was now on my shoulder blade and slowly going up my spine. I knew it was a gun and I knew who was holding it. It was Logan. Since he was now being searched for by police, he must have got a gun.

"I was thinking about what we did and then what you guys did. I figured I ought to get some insurance so you would not go to the police, yet then again I can just end all this right now. Play out the whole, revenge of an ex-boyfriend," he paused and clicked the piston of the gun. "Yet, then again I think you know all about that, don't you Damien."

"What are you talking about?" I said back to him as I was still trying to calm down.

"Before I came back to L.A., I made a stop off in New York," he paused.

"You didn't," I said as my eyes got wider.

"I did, I visited your ex Austin. He told me his story and how he tried to break you and Zach up forever. Well I think I will beat him to it. By the way he did say he was going to get out soon and come find you. I told him not to bother, he would be too late," he said to me.

The gun that was now on my head slowly drifted down to just below my heart or somewhere close to it. He pushed it into my ribs and I felt the barrel of the gun. I was thinking fast to come up with a way out of this. "What you're too afraid to shoot me face to face?" I said back to him.

"Nope," he said and turned me around. Now the gun was pointed at my ribcage. He pressed it against them.

I was still thinking about a way to get out of this mess then I heard his voice. "Damien, I am almost done," Zach yelled through the bedroom door. I saw my chance as Logan turned his attention I went for the gun. For the spilt second, I had control of the weapon. We struggled and then the gun went off.

I felt the hole that was shot into my chest. I lifted my hands saw them completely covered in my blood. That is when I looked up and saw Zach come running out of the bedroom. That was the last thing I saw before I fell to the ground.

Zach's P.O.V.

"Damien, I am almost done," I yelled through the bedroom door. I quickly closed up the suit case and picked it up. My feet hit one of my throwing knives; I bent down and picked it up. I smiled at the thought that I might use it on my ex in the near future. Not kill him but just cut him a little bit to get back for raping my partner.

I called out to Damien but there was still no answer. I was just about to walk out the door and I heard the sound that made my heart sink. A gun shot rang throughout the whole house. My whole body just stopped dead in my tracks.

I rushed through the doorway into the living room. As soon as I got out there, Damien smiled at me then fell down to the ground. I went rushing over to his side; I did not care about Logan and his weapon. I grabbed Damien and tried to stop the bleeding. I grabbed the nearest piece of clothing and tried to stop the bleeding. I grabbed my phone and dialed 911.

Logan quickly realized that I dialed the cops. He tried to grab the phone out of my hand but only knocked it out of my hand. It went sliding under the sofa. I heard the operator start talking but I could not answer. Logan was pulling me off Damien's body. I started fighting him and the gun was thrown out of his hands. He punched me in the face and I knew I had to end this fight and go treat Damien for his wounds.

I looked over and Damien was now in a puddle of his own blood. That threw me into a blind rage. I went for the gun but I was not quick enough. Logan socked me in the stomach and I went down to my knees. I felt something poke me in the thigh and I remembered that I put one of my throwing knives in my pocket.

Logan was about to grab the gun and I reached out to grab his leg. I got it and yanked with all my might. He fell down to the ground with a thud. I pulled his leg again but he was trying to shake me loose. He was kicking it wildly and I was holding on to his leg. I finally was able to crawl up to his face and we start grabbling we rolled around on the floor and he pinned me in a small pool of Damien's blood. He started punching my face since he had me pinned down.

My vision started to get blurry and my body started to go limp. My hand touched something. It was Damien's hand at that time. He was still awake for a quick second or so it seemed. I felt his hand squeeze mine. He sent me a message to not give into this guy. That is when my vision came back and I dodge his punch. His hand made contact with the hard wood floor. He shook his hand off from the pain and I was able to throw him off my body.

I squirmed my way to the other side of the room; he went to the other side of the room. I pulled myself up using the sofa and I was still getting my bearings back. I looked over and Logan was still down on the ground. I fell to my knees and star reaching under the couch for the cell phone. I found it and pulled it out. It was still on the phone call, I put it up to my ear. "Hello," I said into it.

"Hello, do you need help?" the operator said to me.

"Yes, my partner has been shot and I fought off the attacker. Please hurry," that is the last words I said to her. I dropped the phone and it broken when it hit the floor. Logan was on his feet now but he was also holding the gun.

I rushed over to him and tackled him to the ground. The gun went sliding into the dining room and so did we. I started punching him this time while I pinned him down on the ground. His hand was reaching for something. Whatever he found, he smashed into the side of my head. That stunned me for a second and he pushed me over onto the floor. He went after the gun again but this time I could not grab him to pull him away from it.

He got up and so did I. I reached into my pocket and pulled out the throwing knife. I hid it from his view and knew he was not going to stop till one of us was dead. He was betting on himself to win. I was just going to make him stop with one good stab to the leg. We faced each other and we both were completely out of breath.

"Ok, ok. I see you still have some fight left in you but I doubt Damien has much time left. It has been five minutes and I am sure his bleeding is draining him. It is time to make that choice, him or me?" he said while standing with the gun point at me.

"I will never choose you, you hurt me and the one's I love. Damien is the one I will always fight for. If I turn my back and go for him do you have the guts to shoot me I the back. You will not stop me from saving him," I told him while taking a deep breath.

"Fine then I will do what his ex could not. Kill the both of you and then vanish like the early morning fog," he told me.

"Go ahead and shoot me. I already got shot once another bullet will not stop me. I will take you down with me if it is the last thing I do," I told him and put the throwing knife into my hand. He looked down at my hand and noticed the tip of the blade.

"What, you think you can stop me with that little butter knife," he paused to laugh at the thought. "I will shoot you down before you could even throw that thing at me."

"Does not matter if you do, I will always hit my target with this knife. I promise you that," was all I said. I knew I needed to end this now. Neither of us; was making a move though. I looked behind me and saw Damien's lifeless body. I had mixed emotions running high in me. One to get revenge for him hurting my partner, second sadness for Damien that I had put him through all this and third was that I just wanted all this to end.

We both were out of breath and just barely standing on our feet. My eyes were both going in and out of focus. I raised my hand and with all my might I tossed the throwing knife out of my hand. My eyes were closed but I knew I hit my target but I heard his gun go off as well. All I heard was a gurgle sound coming from across the room.

My body hit the floor with a thud and I opened my eyes. The knife was lodged into his throat and he was trying to breath. His body hit the floor a moment after mine did. Then I felt the same pain as I did before when my other ex shot me. I was hit by the last shot. I felt my chest and found the hole just below my right ribcage.

I tried to put pressure on the wound but it was not working. I used my remaining strength or little that was left and dragged myself across the floor to my baby. I reached out and grabbed his hand. I put my head down in defeat but then I felt his fingers grab onto mine once more. Before I faded away, I heard footsteps and sirens off in the distance somewhere.

Epilogue

A few moments later, I opened my eyes but I was not looking up at people or the scene that just happened. It completely blew me away and then I started putting two and two together. I did not care what was going on down below me but I was more concerned about where Damien was. I started floating around the house to see if he went looking for me. He was nowhere to be found.

I went back into the living room, Jackie and Elliot finally arrived to the horrible scene that went down just moments ago. I started watching the police men do their work. There was one person per body. Each person was looking around our bodies to see if there were any signs of life. I went out outside and sat down next to Jackie.

She was crying her eyes out on Elliot's shoulder. Elliot was being the strong one for her. I was happy that she found someone that will be there for her. I was still wondering where Damien was and why I was still here. I took a seat next to them and put my arm around her body. She looked up for a quick second then went back to crying on Elliot's shoulder. I tried to rub her back but it did not work.

"Why did they come back here?" she finally looked over at Elliot and spoke.

"Probably to get some clothes or belongings so they could live at their parents place," Elliot said back. "We should have got here sooner."

"Do not blame yourself; it was not your fault. It was that stupid Logan's fault. Where is he? I am going to make sure he pays for what he did," I said and was about to go drag him out of his body. When I noticed a hand grabbed mine. It was Elliot's hand.

I never did realize that we had a deeper connection or that he had a connection with ghosts. "Talk through me," Elliot whispered to me.

"What?" I said.

"If you want to say anything to Jackie to calm her down, now is your chance," he told me in a calm demeanor.

"Ok, I guess I want to say that she was always my best friend and not to blame herself for what happened here," I told Elliot.

"Jackie, Zach tells me that this is not your fault and that you were always his best friend," he told her.

"Where is he? Is this a joke?" she asked while drying her tears.

"No, this is not a joke, remember when I told you I can see ghost or at least hear them. Well, Zach is sitting right next to us and told me to tell you those words," Elliot said to her.

"Fine, if it is really him, ask him to tell me something only he knows and not something I told you," Jackie said to him.

"Well," Elliot asked me.

"I guess she wants proof, tell her that she has had a secret journal hidden in the park that I once dug up and read. She thought keeping it in her room would be not a safe spot. In that journal, there was an entry marked 8/12. It was marked for me if anything happened to her. On that page, is a map to your most cherished treasure but I will not tell Elliot what that is," I said to Elliot.

He repeated everything that I told him to Jackie. She had a completed shock on her face. "Tell him that we love him and will never forget him."

"We love you and you will forever be with us," she said out loud.

"You heard that goes for all of us," Elliot said. "Is Damien with you?"

"No, he is not with me. I checked the house and his spirit could not be found," I said to him.

"Maybe he left to go look for you," Elliot said and shrugged his shoulders.

Jackie was looking at her phone; she was debating to call all his friends. She started texting them one by one. It was a simple text just saying to meet at Damien and Zach's house. I have something to tell you.

The coroner wheeled in three gurneys into the house with his assistant. The cops started going and the coroner came out with two of the three gurneys. Everyone started showing up one by one. The last gurney came out as Sean and Ethan came up. They were the first ones to come. Then Chase and Justin and right behind them were Ryan and Bobby. Jackie knew where my parents were and Damien's dad as well.

They were all sitting outside the house that was now closed off with the do not cross police tape. "What happened?" Sean asked once everyone got there.

"Not sure, we are waiting for the police to come tell us. All I know is that Damien and Zach are gone. What I pieced together is that Logan and they must have fought inside the house," Jackie said to us.

"I have talked to Zach as a spirit but I have lost contact with him," Elliot chimed in.

"What? You talked to his spirit," Ethan blurted out.

"Yeah, been able to do that for a while now, either way, he has not come back since he went to look for Damien's spirit," Elliot said to everyone.

"I wish he was here, we could find out what really happened," Ryan said and rested his head on Bobby's shoulders. A couple tears roll down his face onto the awaiting shoulder.

A moment of silence was made within the circle, I was floating above them. Just then I had a thought. "Wait," I thought to myself. "If I am dead, shouldn't my life flash before my eyes or something like that?"

"You're right, that is if you were dead," a voice from behind me said.

I turned around to see someone dressed in a long black robe. "Are you here to take me away, death??

"Death," he said with a chuckle. "I am not death, I do know him and he is not great at parties. I am here to see where you belong."

"Belong? You mean heaven or hell," I said back to this man in black.

"Well, there are those chooses but then there is a third option and I will see if you can go back," he told me.

I just was dumbfounded; I did not know what he meant. "Go back?"

"Yeah, every once in awhile we will give a chance to someone that is special and shows promise. Your love with Damien is so strong that if it can surpass time then that will give you the chance to go back and change what happened, are you ready to go find him?"

"I would do anything for him, let's go find him," I told him.

Hope you guys enjoy this final story of this Zach Brimstone. Before you guys get up in arms and I get those nasty emails of why I killed of my characters. I felt like I need to move this story to a different area of life. I noticed on Nifty there is not a lot of stories about dealing with death and what might come after it. Do not worry Zach brimstone and his loved ones will be in the new series that I will be starting called "Afterlife." I left the ending as a little teaser to the opening of the next part of Zach Brimstone?s journey.

I am looking forward to all the emails on this one, both good and bad.

Next: Chapter 55: Afterlife 1
