Chapter 7:

Liz dropped me off at the school's parking lot and drove off. I entered the gated fence area, about an hour and half late because our lunch is only 45 minutes. The guard must not be around because he certainly didn't stop from entering the lot. I walked to my car, luckily I threw my stuff in there before we left for lunch because if not I would need to trek over to the other side of the school. I started the car, reversed and started making my way out of the lot, until the guard stopped me.

"Do you have a pass?" said the short, lean, man in his sunglass and "Security" shirt.

"Yes, I do." I began searching my pockets. My jeans never felt tighter, of course. After going through both front pockets, I remembered that I had put in my back pocket. I was finally able to locate the pass and handed it to him.

"You kids," he in a sighed voice as he looked at my pass, "Always leaving early," handing it back to me.

I didn't hear the last part. "Excuse me?"

I think he took my "excuse me" defensively because he answered back in a slightly annoyed tone, "You kids, always leaving school early because you kids don't give a shit about school..."

"Well," I interrupted to tell him about the accident and that was why I was leaving, "what happened was..."

He then interjected very annoyed, "and you are always interrupting me like I have nothing `important' to say to you!"

I was beginning to lose some of my patience. My phone was on my lap from when I was looking for my pass in my front pockets, I pressed the video button on the side of my Blackberry just in case things were going to get out of hand. "Sir, that's not the case..."

He was basically yelling at this point, "AND YOU DO IT A-FUCKING-GAIN! YOU KIDS NEVER FUCKING LEARN DO YA? BECAUSE YOU HAVE YOUR WHOLE FUCKING LIVES PLANNED OUT THANKS TO MOMMY AND DADDY. THEY GIVE YOU ALL WHAT YOU FUCKING WANT BECAUSE THEY HAVE TONS OF MONEY AND THEN YOU KIDS DON'T GIVE A FUCKING SHIT BECAUSE YOU HAVE THE WORLD ON A SILVER-FUCKING-PLATTER!"

I was SO agitated with what this man was saying, he not only dissing me, the kids at my school (which he wasn't lying about some) but MY PARENTS as well! He definitely crossed the line.

I swear I must have been 30 shades of red when I said this out of sheer anger, "NOW YOU LISTEN TO ME! WHAT DO YOU THINK THAT MONEY GROWS ON TREES FOR MY PARENTS? THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE TO WORK FOR THEIR MONEY? THAT MONEY APPEARS FROM THIN AIR? MY PARENTS CAME TO THIS COUNTRY WHEN THEY WERE MERE TODDLERS! THEIR FAMILES LEFT EVERYTHING THEY HAD OVER THERE. MY PARENTS HAVE HAD TO BUST THEIR ASSES OFF TO HAVE WHAT THEY HAVE! IF YOU DON'T THINK THAT I AM APPRECIATIVE OF WHAT I HAVE, SIR THEN YOU DO NOT KNOW WHO THE FUCK I AM, FOR I AM ETERNALLY GREATFUL FOR WHAT I HAVE!"

I drove off after I said that; I couldn't stand being in front of him. This is just such a wonderful day... I wonder if it could get any worse. I got home rather quickly, good thing I didn't get stopped by a cop. (because that would have been the cherry on top.)

I saw Liz's car parked out in front of the driveway as I drove in and parked in the garage. I grabbed my stuff and went through the garage door. I went through the laundry room, and started making way to the kitchen. There I was greeted by great laughter, who's is laughing? In the breakfast nook, Liz and Emily are reading Us Weekly and giggling.

I cleared my throat.

Emily looks up still lightly laughing "Hello Jacob-san." She gets a bit more serious but still has a smile to her face, "I heard about the accident, I'm so glad that everyone is okay. Do you need something to drink, some tea maybe?"

"No, thank you Emily. What are you two laughing about anyway?" I was curious.

Liz speaks, "Oh nothing. We're just reading some of the comments that the people make when they make fun of what the celebrities are wearing, they're great this week." She was smiling the whole time.

Emily taps Liz on the shoulder and points to; I assume a text on the page. The next second they're both in tears. Liz, if you couldn't tell, has become an integrated member of this family; she has become my mother's "adopted daughter," and basically my other sister.

Once they calmed down, I asked Emily, "Is my dad here yet?"

"No, Jacob-san. He went to the office today."

"Oh, okay. Can you tell him when he gets here that I need to talk to him?"

"No problem," she saw that my face wasn't the happiest one, "Why? What is wrong Jacob-san?"

Liz joined in as well, "Yeah, J what's up? When I left at the lot you were fine."

"Oh nothing, I just got verbally abused by the security guard on the way out of the lot." I said as I began to walk toward them and the table that they were sitting at.

Silence prevailed as I sat down.

"Wait... What do you mean? What happened?" Liz looked peeved.

"Yes, Jacob-san what happened?"

I told them the story of what happened between me and the guard at the gate. I also played the recording that I had on my phone, they heard both what he said and what I said back to him.

"What the FUCK! That is ridiculous! Who does he think he is!? Does he pay your bills, I don't think so! At least you gave him an earful, which was very well said."

Emily was quite as Liz spoke but then she decided to speak, "He doesn't know you or your parents well enough to EVER say that to YOU!" It was the first I ever heard Emily really be angry. After saying that, she got up and began ranting off in Chinese and waving her hands in the air. She turned to me at the doorway of the kitchen, "Don't worry Jacob-san, I will tell your father to go speak to you before he decides to do anything else."

"Thank you Emily," she left. I turned to Liz, "I thought that after she said `Don't worry' she was going to say, `I will take care of these myself.'"

Liz began to chuckle, "That would have been something to see, Emily drop-kicking someone's ass to the floor."

"Yeah but I wouldn't put it pass her to do something like that. Okay, well now that's over, my room?"

"Yeah."

We both went upstairs to my room, where the first things we did was throw our bags on the floor by the doorway and headed straight for my king size bed, where plopped ourselves down next to each other.

"I am SO glad that it's Friday!" what I said was muffled due to the duvet that was covering my face. I felt Liz shake her head on the bed in agreement.

Liz was the first to raise her head from the bed, "Okay, due to the fact that today hasn't been the day," it was my turn to nod in agreement, "I think that there is only to be one true solution to making us feel better..."

I looked up at her, she had a huge smile on her face, "You mean..."

"Uh-huh, you're picking up what I'm putting down."

"RETIAL THERAPY!" we both said it at the same time.

"Oh my god, yes," I responded, "I NEED it so bad. Considering all the shit that has happened in the past like 3 hours."

"Exactly, that's what I'm saying. You deserve to get a few things for yourself."

"Yeah, it would be nice..."

"Uh-huh, and besides we really gone shopping together in like 2 months."

"Okay, it's settled. We shop tomorrow."

Liz squeaked a victorious "YAY!"

"Wait, but where do we go? You know how we both don't like running into kids from our school."

Liz had an answer, "I thought of that already."

I looked at her inquisitively, "Due tell."

"Bal Harbour!"

"Ah! I see that you have thought this through."

"Yes, indeed, I have. So, is that a `yes?'" She had her hands by her mouth, looking at me all hopeful.

"How, can I turn down Bal Harbour?"

Another victorious sqeak came from Liz, "YES!"

I could only laugh. A pain suddenly radiated out from leg. Liz saw the expression on my face.

"Are you alright?"

"I think my just cramped up. I probably over exerted it today." I said while rubbing my calves.

"Yeah, considering what you pulled off today. Want to massage them for you?"

I sighed in relief, "That would be wonderful."

"Of course, anything for my `brother.' Lay face down." She giggled.

"Okay." I laid face down on my bed and she sat on my ass and began to rub my calves.

"Pressure good?"

"Yup. I'm feeling the good pain already."

After about 5 minutes of her on top of me massaging my legs, someone cleared their throat from doorframe in my room. Me and Liz both looked up to my dad with a grin on his face.

"You know, if didn't know the current relationship between you two, I would think differently."

Liz and I imagined what my dad was looking at, we both laughed.

"Emily told me that you wanted to speak to me? She looked very serious when she told me. I felt like I had done something." He chuckled nervously.

"Yeah, we need a lawyer."

He raised one eyebrow, "Why? I thought that the cops were going to handle the whole thing on their own, and you really weren't involved in the crash anyway."

Liz and I began to move so that we could sit like normal people.

"No, this is another thing entirely." Liz said.

"Alright, what is it then?" My dad asked, still puzzled.

"On my way out of the lot today, since Mom took me out early, I was stopped by the guard at the gate, and that when all hell broke loose and I was verbally assualted..." I told him what happened between the guard and I.

He looked at me shocked, "Really?! Who does this guy think he is?!"

"I KNOW! That's what I said," said Liz as she placed her hand towards her.

My dad looked at me, "I may not be a lawyer but I think that the only thing that we can do is file a complaint with the school. Since there are no witnesses, it's going to be your word versus his."

I looked at him, "I know. Unless someone has evidence of the event that happened..." My dad looked at me with a raised eyebrow. "Let's just say that I some pretty incriminating evidence in my favor."

He looked at me then Liz, who was smiling, "Uh-huh."

I took out my Blackberry and played the recording.

"WHO THE FUCK DOES THIS BASTARD THINK HE IS?! TALKING TO MY SON THAT WAY?! OH, HE'S GOT SOME BALLS TO SAY THAT SHIT!" Yup, he was angry. "THE FIRST THING I'M DOING TOMRROW MORNING IS CALLING DAVE! I'M GOING TO MAKE SURE THIS SON OF A BITCH GETS WHAT HE DESERVES!" Yup, really angry. He stormed off.

Liz turns to me, "Well, I think that went pretty good. You?"

"I think so."

Liz decided that she was going to sleep over so that we can leave at around 11 in the morning. Liz and I have know each well enough that we have drawer in each of our closets that is filled with all the necessary items that one needs when staying over. Liz being herself as a few extra things in her drawer, including 4 outfits, 2 sets of PJs, perfume, jewelry, underwear (duh), a clutch, and 2 purses. Yes, she has one of the biggest drawers in my closet, which shows you how much I care about her.

"Hey Liz, I'm going to jump into the shower. I need wash off all the bad from me."

She chuckled, "Okay, no problem. I will just check my facebook and stuff."

"Okay."

I went into my closet and got a pair of navy pajama pants and a plain white shirt. I walked into my bathroom, and I starred at my bathtub longingly. If there was a day that I needed a bath, today would be the day. But, I had Liz to think about; and it matter anyway, it's not like the tub will be going anywhere. I took a quick shower and was out in about 15 minutes. I walked back into my room to find Liz on the floor shaking.

I ran to her, "Liz, are you alright?!" There were tears streaming down her eyes, and she had this huge smile on her face and all she could do was point at my Vaio. I looked at and saw that she was on youtube watching a video called "Scarlet takes a tumble." (Like for real, if you have not seen this video, YOU NEED TO GO TO YOUTUBE.COM RIGHT NOW!) So, I replayed the video from the beginning.

I ended up on the floor next to her because my insides were in so much pain because I was laughing so hard. Apparently my reaction to video made her laugh more than what she was already and me and her were thrown into a laughing fit for about a solid 15 minutes on the floor because we were unable to get up.

Finally, we were able to compose ourselves and she spoke, "Isn't that like the best thing that you have ever seen in your entire life?"

"It's up there," I replied while still wiping off excess tears from my face. I finished wiping the tears from face and continued, "I thought that you were hurt when I saw you on the floor basically convulsing."

She laughed, "I'm so sorry about that it was just that I laughed so hard that I was in pain but I couldn't stop, so I dropped to the floor. Luckily though, you were able to pick up on my hint."

"I'm I did." We laughed a little, I look at her, "Wanna see it again."

"Don't need to tell me twice."

We must have seen that video at least a dozen times, and for some reason it was just still funny. After the video began to lose its humor we decided to look up reaction videos. There were many fits of laughter to be had after we saw just one of the reaction video. We must have been there for a while because before we knew it, Emily was at my door asking if Liz and I were hungry because dinner was ready. Liz and I looked at each other in disbelief.

"What time is it?" I asked Emily.

"It is just passed seven, Jacob-san."

"Whoa! Really?!"

I looked at the clock at the bottom right-hand side of my computer, only confirming what Emily said. I then turned to Liz, "Are you hungry?"

"Sure, I'll eat."

"We'll both be down in a few Emily."

She bowed and took her exit.

Liz turned to me, "We are huge losers. We just spent the majority of our Friday night in front of the computer watching youtube videos."

"Yup and I don't think that I would have it any other way," I smiled and Liz laughed.

"Could you wait for me while I change into my PJs before we go downstairs?"

I told her that it was no problem. I can't believe that we spent four and half hours watching reaction videos to one video. Youtube is officially WAY too expansive. Liz came out in a pair of green boy shorts and a yellow tank top from what I thought was from Victoria Secret.

As we were walking out, "Are those my briefs from H & M?"

Liz looked at me, "What?! All the underwear that I have here would show much more than just my legs. And I like these." I just rolled my eyes.

We both walked into the living room area, to fin, yet again, both my sister and father still on World War III. With my mom, finally learning her lesson moved to the counter.

"After yesterday, I refuse to sit on THAT sofa!"

Me and Liz could only laugh. We both took our seats at the counter and waited for Emily to serve us our food. Today's menu: Balsamic Chicken Pasta with tomatoes. We began to eat and I swiveled my chair to see what my dad was watching on the TV.

"Oh, the news! Pops, why are you watching the news? It's all depressing stuff that makes us think that we are living in a world that is falling apart."

"I just wanted to see the weather for this week. It should be coming up, I'll change it afterwards."

"Okay."

The newscaster came back on after the commercial break, "I'm Alexis Westin we will have your weather report right after this breaking news story."

My father looked back, "See, I told it was coming on soon."

"Thank you, Alexis. Our breaking news story today, a young man was able to capture a man that Miami-Dade police have been looking for, for months. We will go to our newscaster Linda who recorded this earlier today."

I swivel to Liz, "Oh that actually sounds interesting." She swiveled with me to watch the story.

"Yes, you heard right a young man was able to capture a fleeting fugitive that has been escaping police arrest for past three months. Our news van was on the way to another story, but thanks to a car accident that we happened to be caught in, we were not able get there. But, luckily we were able to get you this breaking story instead. Here is a picture of the fugitive. His name is Ivan Livingston; he stands about 6 foot 3 and weighs about 215 pounds. So, how was it that a young man that stands about 5 foot 8 and weighs about 130 pounds, able to take him down?"

I tapped Liz on the shoulder because she had turned around to get another bite of food, "I think that you should watch this."

She turned around, "Huh?" looked up at the TV and recognized where the camera was pointing, "Oh Shit!" She whispered to me.

The news woman kept speaking, "The accident happened right here on US 1, right around noon. But the accident is not what this story is about."

Liz whispered to me again, "Oh SHIT!"

"A green 2004 Toyota Avalon smashed into a navy 2008 Porsche Cayenne." The camera showed the accident of the two cars. "Ivan Livingston, the man driving the Avalon, after realizing what had happened ran away from the scene according to an eye witness after our young hero tapped on his window to see if he was doing okay, and that is where our video begins."

Liz whispered to me again, "Oh SHIT!"

While they played the recording of me running after the guy through oncoming traffic, the news women spoke, "The fugitive ran into moving oncoming traffic but that didn't stop him trying to capture the man."

My mom spoke, "Oh dear! Hey you know what he looks a lot like..." as my mother was saying that they were playing the clip of me jumping through the bushes where there was a clear view of the "Offerdahl's" sign of where we ate our lunch. "In the parking lot of this Offerdahl's, our hero was able to miraculously do five front flips gaining more air with every passing."

Liz whispered to me again, "Oh SHIT!"

"He was then able to jump high enough by the fifth front flip that he shoved the fugitive to the ground with his feet and landing only a few feet from where the assailant fell."

My father turned off the TV after being asked my mother, and turned around, all eyes were on me, and silence became the background noise.

Liz whispered to me again in an even lower voice, "Oh SHIT!"

I finally said something, "Yes, I know what I did was ridiculously stupid. I know that I could have gotten hurt, badly, by not only the traffic but also the guy could have easily taken me down. But, when I saw the guy running away from the accident, I don't know what came over me because the next thing I knew was that I was chasing him and yelling at Liz to call the cops. I'm sorry that I didn't tell you guys, I just didn't want to have this awkward conversation." My voice trailed off.

My mom was the first to say something, "So, you are telling that you fully had analyzed the situation and thought that it would be best for you to capture the man instead of the police."

I could respond with, "Well, when you say it like that..."

"But, that what it really is, Jacob. You could have gotten really hurt by not only the cars but by the man as well,"

"I know."

"What's worse is that you may not have only gotten hurt but killed as well."

"I know."

"But, what you did was very heroic, stupid, but heroic nonetheless."

"And makes for a very good news story." My dad chimed in.

My mom gave an evil eye, "Don't encourage it Anthony."

I was very glad that my parents weren't going into hysterics like they do sometimes when they feel the situation calls for it. But the rest of dinner went by just fine; there were no more awkward silences and things of that nature. After Liz and I got done my mom came up to us.

"Do you guys plan on going out?"

I replied, "No, we're going to just stay in." Liz nodded in agreement.

"Oh, okay. I wanted to know if you guys were up to a game of Monopoly."

Liz spoke, "Mrs. D you always win."

"That may be true, but at least we always have fun." My mother is so modest, isn't she?

Me, Liz, Eve (My sis), and my mom played Monopoly until the wee hours of the morning, only to lose miserably to my mother.

"Okay Jacob you landed on Park Place and it has a hotel so that means..." she began to look at her card.

I interrupted her, "You win."

She had a great and triumphant smile over her face. We all cleaned up, after me and Liz headed upstairs to go to sleep.

"Your mom is like the champion of Monopoly."

"You're telling me, I live with the woman." Liz laughed.

We got to my room and brushed our teeth.

"What time you want to wake up tomo... I mean today?"

"Um... Well we want to be out of the like around 11, so, I guess 10 is fine."

"Okay." I set it for 9:30, we liked to snooze.
