... The following morning I rose up to the sounds of birds chirping near by. That and a lovely smell of some thinking cooking on the fire. I looked around and saw Tork was doing the cooking. Val was no where to be seen though.

"Where is Val?" I asked. "He is scouting ahead" he said back. "We still have to pass through a region of uncertainty" "He is making sure we are safe."

I asked again how much further it was. He said another few days or so before we reach our destination. That once we passed the desolate valley, I was beyond those hills and to an inlet near the great sea. But I had nothing to worry about. That they would see I arrived safely. And that's when he told me that there was a small village restarting there passed the desolate lands. I was again finding his words interesting. Another village beyond the forbidden zone. I wanted to know everything.

"Who I lives there?" I asked

He smiled and then told me what he knew from what Val had told him. For he had never been there until this journey.

"Its the village of the non believers my boy" he said "Those that we could save from death and the desolation out here.."

He looked at me and sighed. It was a deep solemn sigh of loss.

"And it's not many" he added "For most cast from your villages fall to death by beasts of just lack of food." "But the small hand fulls that we could save are brought there" "Safe from judgement?" I asked "Yes" he then said. "Yes my boy. Safe from lies"

I was overjoyed that there were others there. I would not be on my own. I would gave others there that understood the scorn of our hateful religion and it's book of lies.

We arrived into the valley the next afternoon. I could see where the destruction hand come so long ago.the valley itself was the crater of the destruction. But through the centuries it had recovered and was a beautiful green landscape. In the far distance I could see small smoke trails through the trees. I surmised it was the village that Val had spoken of. But he still asked.

"Is this it?" He said with excitement "Yes my boy, it is" Val repeated.

He smiled back at me as he "There is a quaint village down there. They call it Xzyon. It is small by the standards you are familiar with. A few dozen families and and other there. Some have been there for years. He added.

"And no temples of religion" Tork added "So all are free to be whom they are and what they are" "Really?!" I chirped "That us wonderful."

Val mentioned there is a sanctuary for lost youths there. There was an older woman there that ran the sanctuary. She would see to my needs. And then if I desired would place me in a home with a new family. I smiled whole-heartedly. At the hope of connecting with other again. Not that being with these kind beasts was terrible. It was better than I could ever have hoped. I learned much from them and I would truly miss them. But I did need to be with my own kind. And they needed to go back to their homes.

"We shall be down there in a hour or so" Tork said

With that he grabbed a horn from his side. I actually never noticed it until that moment. Then he brought it to his lupa and pressed his breath to the thing. A tympony of several sounds echoed out and to the valley below. I looked at them and wondered why he set such a sound out to them.

"To let them know we are friendly" Val stated "They have eyes in the trees" "And they will attack strangers" "Why?" I asked

He explained and i understood immediately. It was due to the enemies that had forced them there. The persecuting church's in there contempt of what was different. So they had to protect themselves. We came down closer and could see that it was not as small as I assumed it to be. Certainly smaller than my village. But for the small amounts of people I was sizeable. There was a very high wall surrounding the facing side. And that wall curved and swept around the village. And it appeared they were still adding to it on the Dr side that I could see. U did see something strange though. There appeared to be a large building that resembled a temple. So I hazed at my allies and guides in wonder. And as if Val could sense my oncoming question he spoke.

"That is not a temple my boy" he said "They call it a community center" "A place to gather and have events together" added Tork "They are quite happy here"

I smiled as he explained the building. But still questioned the beed for such a place. But I guess it mattered not. I was free if the church and it's vile rules. There was a trumpet sound that echoed back from the trees. Then I saw movement in the brush and trees as well. I looked down to see that the great gate was opening below.

"They know it is us" Tork said "We are safe"

We continued down towards the village. As we got closer I saw a few young men moving around. And some men were very attractive as the passed along by us. Then a younger lad, maybe a few years my senior saw Val and hooped and shouted. Calling out him name in exuberant jubilation. Whooping and whistling.

"Hey look. Its Val" he shouted

Many others whooped in unison at seeing the obviously famous ramgard. I was to learn later that Val has made this trek more than most. Brining lost unwanted sould to thia joyous little village. The young man rushed over and greeted us. Shaking Vals hand. Then coming over to me and introducing himself.

"Hi. I am Shemar" he said "You are most welcome friend" "This is a place if goodness and love"

I shook his hand and continued towards the huge gate. It and the walls towered over that of my village. The wall had to be 35 feet high at the least. The gate a massive agriculture of wood and metals. And there was what appeared to be a crows nest tower just to the left if the gate. Standing another 10 feet up. The stone walls were intimidating to say the least. There was a crowd gathering just inside the gates on a large court yard just inside them. Small children and a woman gathered with her to see who was the new person. As I passed inside the gate there was a grouping of guards and and someone who appeared to be the eldest here. He was a man of maybe 50 or so. Greying hair and a full greying beard. He was tall and rugged looking too. He stepped towards us first. He and several large men.

"Val my old friend" he said as he came over "How be you. Well i hope?" "Yes Mangar. I am well." Val replied

He and the older man shook hands. Then the man gazed at me. He smiled abd welcomed me to the village. Assuring me I would be safe from any prosecution here.

"Welcome to xzyon my boy." He said

Then he introduced the woman. The one who would keep and care fir me until a home could be found fir me..

"This is Omelda" he said "She will be your guardian until she sees fit to get you sutuated correctly" "Hello my boy" Omelda say as she took my hand.

She lead me to the group if children. Many smaller and younger than myself. So I found it odd that there were children here. Lost to the world by a religion that didn't care for them. I would layer ask this to get am answer. I looked back at Val and Tork. Knowing I would be saying goodbye to them. These great kind souls that were my guides to this safe haven. I started to cry as I knew they would be leaving soon. I ran back to Val and Tork. Grabbing them and hugging them both. I had learned much from my Ramgard friends. And was glad they were so good to me.

"I shall miss you. Both" I said through tear filled eyes "Thank you ever soo much"

Val stroked my head as I held him. Saying to me all would be well for me now. And they would very likely be back soon enough. Or at least Val would.

"Many souls to save" he said

Mangar said he would bring them supplies for their journey back. Then I felt Omeldas hand on me. She said that we should go and let the adults finish their business. I still looked back at my saviors with tears still pooling in my eyes. I did hope I would see them again. Soon.... ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ To be continued
