Why Me? Chapter 3
Richard looked over to the door to see who was going to enjoy popping his cherry in the `glory hole. The door opened and ...."Oh, my God....."
Richard pulled away from the hole stuffing his friend back in his pants as he turned his back on Officer McLaughlin.
"Son, what you are doing is pretty risky considering the shape you're in." Mac said.
Richard slumped to the piss and cum stained floor. Emotions raced through his head. How was he going to get himself out of this mess? His alcohol altered state made it difficult to think clearly. He knew one thing though, he was in the biggest jam he had ever been in in his 16 year life. He had been caught red handed.
"Would you believe.." Richard started.
"I'd believe that you've had way too much to drink to think clearly. Come on Son, let's get you out of here and try and bring you back down to Earth." Mac said.
Mac helped Richard up off the floor and out to the front seat of his squad car. As soon as Richard was inside the car the dam broke. Tears streamed down his cheek. He thought that nothing could have been more devastating than being caught by Chad, his best friend, but that paled in comparison with this. Now he was going to jail. He'd heard about all the terrible things that happened to cute little `girlie' boys in the lockup. That was nothing compared to the fear of facing his parents.
The long ride back to the Station House was quiet except for the sound of Richard's incessant sobbing. Mac lead Richard into the Station.
"Hey Sarge." Mac greeted Sgt. O'Brian.
"Hello, Mac. What's the situation here?" Sarge asked.
"I was on patrol in the park and heard a commotion coming from the john and went to investigate. As I approached I saw Brent fly out of there like he had seen a ghost. When I opened the door this young man had himself shoved through the glory hole waiting on someone to come in and service him. It's kinda evident that he's had a couple too many cocktails. " Mac answered.
Richard was in a purple funk. Trying to compute all that was happening. "Brent? Brent who? Lewisville High football jacket? Damn, that's gotta be Brent McMillan. He graduated last year and got a scholarship to State didn't he? No, it can't be. Is there a Brent on the team this year. No, there's no Brent on the team. That's gotta be him. Hmm, quit daydreaming Richard. How are you going to get out of this jam." Richard thought as he was pulled from his deep thoughts by the Desk Sgt.
"Hmmm, Son, you know that what you did is against the law, don't you?" Sarge asked.
"Yes Sir." Richard answered and he started crying again. "Please, PLEASE don't call my parents. I can't face them. Not like this. Just lock me up please." Richard begged.
"Well, you are a minor and legally I have to at least call your parents. You're not the first kid that this ever happened to and I am sure that your folk's will understand. We can let you sober up some before we get them down here. Mac, you wanna get this `Dude' some coffee?" Sarge said.
Mac brought the coffee and the three men sat in the Station Room. The silence was broken when Richard asked "What's gonna happen to me?"
"Well, this is your first offense so we're going to go real light on you. You have to realize that you could have been charged with public intoxication, minor in possession, public indecency and trespass since the park closes at 10 P.M. Richard, we will have to make a report but that report will be sealed and given to the Juvy Officer and if you keep your nose clean no one beside Mac, myself and your parents need ever know of this." Sergeant O'Brian stated.
Richard breathed a sigh of relief knowing that he would not have to be humiliated in front of a Judge, Lawyers and his parents.
"Thanks, Officer. You won't have to worry about seeing me in here again under circumstances such as these." Richard said.
"Okay, then let's finish up the report and we can get you on your way. Let's go to the back and fill out the report." O'Brian said.
They went in the back room and did the messy job of fingerprinting first. Then O'Brian led Richard over to the mug shot section.
"Height 5 feet 10 inches." O'Brian said to Mac as he snapped the camera. Okay, Bud, now sit down and let's finish the statistical data." O'Brian said leading Richard over to the table.
"Weight?" Sarge asked.
"150 pounds." Richard replied.
""Let's see, brown hair and brown eyes, right?" Sarge asked.
"Yes Sir." Richard replied.
"Any identifying tattoos, piercings, moles, scars or birthmarks?" O'Brian queried.
Richard had to think about how to describe the mole that sat right on top of the cleavage of his well rounded bubble butt and the heart shaped birthmark that loomed just above his bush - and how `Mr. Happy' would cover the mark up when he got hard. Richard blushed and gave the information to the Desk Sgt.
"Any others?" O'Brian asked.
"Oh, there's a scar about three inches long under my left ti.. Uh, nipple." Richard replied. He remembered back to the day he got that one. He and Chad had been playing King of the Mountain on the gym set. Chad was on top of the slide and Richard had made a run up the inclined slide and Chad pushed him backward. He lost his balance and fell on the pedal of the bike that had been left too close to the gym set. When he got up off the bike and looked down to see the blood soaked shirt he thought he was mortally wounded. Of course it was only superficial but at 12 any time you saw blood you thought you were gonna die. Chad was so ashamed for what he thought were his irresponsible actions that he avoided Richard for days.
"That should just about cover it. Let's see about getting you home." Sarge stated.
"Please, let me stay a little longer. Then I could get home on my own. You don't need to call my parents." Richard begged.
"I wish it could be handled some other way, Richard, but I could lose my job if I just let you go without a responsible adult signing you out of here." O'Brian answered.
So the Sgt. picked up the phone and dialed the Dean residence. Fear was building up in Richard. How could he face his parents. So he decided to make a run for it. He headed for the door throwing chairs behind him to try and slow Mac down. Mac caught him before he could flee the room and Richard valiantly tried to escape the hold that Mac had on him. O'Brian joined in and both men managed to subdue him.
Richard sagged between the two officers and cried at the top of his lungs "Why ME?"
"Look, Son. We're trying to make this real easy on you but you have to trust us. I'll have a talk with your parents. I won't tell the where we found you or what you were doing if that is what's worrying you. Now we're going to take you back to a holding cell till they can get here to take you home." O'Brian said reassuringly.
The car pulled in the driveway after a long silent trip back from the Station and the two men walked silently into the house. Betty was waiting in the kitchen with the aroma of freshly perked coffee permeating the icy atmosphere in the house.
Richard started to leave the kitchen and his Father stopped him with "Son, we have to talk for a few minutes. I know you are tired and this has been a nightmare of a time for all of us."
Richard went to the breakfast bar and sat on one of the stools. His Dad poured coffee for the two of them and sat beside his wife across from their son.
"I know that something is, and has been, troubling you for the last couple of months. It must be something really devastating for you not to talk to us about it but there is nothing you can't discuss with us. Your mother and I love you and you can rely on us to help you through anything that is bothering you." Carl said.
"Do you love me? Do you truly love me?" Richard asked with tears forming in the corner of his eyes. He wondered how much they would love him if the terrible truth of the earlier events were known.
"Of course your Father and I love you Richard. There is nothing that you could say or do that would cause us to stop loving you." Betty answered with Carl nodding his agreement.
"Okay. I want you both to know that I love you just as much. You mean more to me than anything. I could not have asked for a better set of parents than I have. I do honestly love you and please trust me by allowing me to work through this myself. I give you my solemn word that you won't ever have to come pick me up like you did this time. May I go to bed now?" Richard asked.
"Sure, Honey. And we will let you try and work this out by yourself but remember, we are here anytime, ANYTIME you need us." His mother said as she came over and hugged him and kissed him on his forehead. His Dad walked over and helped his son off the stool and put Richard's arm over his shoulder and his arm around Richard's waist and they walked upstairs to Richard's room.
"Son, I know that the teenage years are the some of the most stressful times. If this is a girl problem or something like that and you feel uncomfy talking to your Mom about, let me know. Okay?" Carl said.
"'K Dad." Richard said and laid back still dressed to try and sleep. His Dad sat in the desk chair waiting for his son to drift off to sleep. Richard rose from the bed.
"What's wrong?" his Dad asked.
"The room is spinning and I feel a little sicky." Richard replied.
"Sit there on the edge of the bed. I'll be right back." Carl said.
Carl left the room only to return a minute or so later with a pail.
"How are you feeling now?" he asked.
"Better." Richard replied.
"Okay, now lay back and place one of your feet on the floor. That will keep the room from spinning. But if it doesn't and you feel you're going to heave, just aim for the bucket." Carl said.
"How do you know that trick, Dad?" Carl asked.
"Let's just say a little bird told me and leave it at that." Carl said.
Richard laid on his bed again, one foot on the floor and wondered what that last comment really meant. Somehow he could not imagine his Dad being drunk. Or doing anything wild and crazy. And he fell asleep. A sound restful sleep.
Carl stayed by his son's bedside until around 8 A.M when he went to his bedroom, pulled the slip of paper that O'Brian had given him earlier and called Bob Jenkins.
"Jenkins Electronics." The voice on the other end replied.
"Bob Jenkins, please." Carl said.
"Speaking." Came the reply.
"Mr. Jenkins, this is Carl Dean. Last night we had a rather traumatic experience. Our son was picked up drunk and the Desk Sgt. suggested that I call you, that you might be able to help with whatever problems he is having. If you could help in any way, I, uh we would be forever grateful to you." Carl said.
"Well, Mr. Dean, if Sarge, or Mac, recommended him to me then I have no choice but to do whatever I can to help out. Those two are really special Cops. A true asset to this community. What I need to have you do is suggest, no, bad word, insist that your son get a job - you know "Idle Hands"? I hire these kids that need help, sort of, and through work association get to know them and root out the problems and go from there. I'm not bragging but I have a pretty fair track record. Now, if you are interested, bring your son out to my shop on Monday morning, ready to go to work and I'll interview him to make it seem realistic and hire him on the spot. Any questions?" Jenkins stated.
"I think that can be arranged. We will see you bright and early Monday morning. Oh, the address on the note says 1202 Wilbur Circle, is that correct? Carl asked.
"Yep, right across from the Yellow Dog Cafe,. See ya'll on Monday." Jenkins responded. And with that Carl went back to resume his watch over his son. As he sat on the chair he nodded off to sleep.
The alarm radio clicked on and the staticky AM station woke Richard from a sound sleep. "Gospel music? Did I die and they're having my funeral?" Richard thought. "Oh, it's Sunday morning and that's Jerry Falwell and the `Old Time Gospel Hour'."
"Fellow Christians. I come to you this morning with a gladdened heart. This is a joyous day and I am at peace with the world. And I want to share that peace with all of you out in radioland. Are you troubled, worried, sick, bereaved. If you are just pick up that phone and dial 888-888-8888 and tell me what you are against." the voice blared from the little clock radio.
Richard sprang from the bed and reached for the phone.
"Let's see. 888-888-8888. Good - It's ringing - not busy like when you have to be the 10th caller to win free movie tickets." Richard thought.
"Good Morning. This is the Old Time Gospel Hour' - Jerry Falwell speaking. Can you say Praise the Lord'?" Falwell said.
"Sure - `Praise the Lord'." Richard replied.
"Goodness alive, could you first turn your radio down? And then tell me who's calling, where you're from and how we can help you this morning." The Rev. replied.
Richard leaned over, turned the radio down and replied "This is Richard Dean from Lewisville, Missouri and I'm thinking of committing suicide because I'm gay." Richard said. ""Dang, did I just say what I thought I said?" Richard thought to himself.
"Hold on there Richie. Let me get this straight, no pun intended. You are gay and you want to commit suicide? Well, I don't think that's necessary and neither does the Lord. There's a place in this Church for all God's Children, straight, bi and gay. I've even let my eyes wander lustfully at some of these cute men singing up here in the choir. And you oughta see the backside of that organist, hmmmm, boy howdy."
The buzzer on the alarm woke him from this dream. He could not help but smile, Hell he started laughing and almost fell out of the bed until he felt a pounding in his head and butterflies the size of blackbirds swirling around in his stomach. He rose to get up from the bed and wavered. His Dad, who had stood vigil by his bed, came over and steadied him. Richard looked up at his Dad and wrapped his arms around his Father and said "Dad, I love you.". Tears welled up in Carl Deans eyes and he bent over and kissed Richard on the forehead and said "We love you too Son. Please never forget that. Okay?" They got up and Carl stood by Richard into the bathroom and once assured that he was steady enough to ambulate by himself told his son that he would meet him downstairs.
Once downstairs, Richard went to his Mother and hugged her tightly repeating the words he had muttered to his Dad upstairs. His Mom's reaction was basically the same as his Dad's. She poured him a glass of milk and sat opposite him at the counter and said "Richard, we are a family. When one member is hurting, we are all hurting. I know you want to work through this yourself but we want you to know that we are here and want to help. You never have to face anything by yourself as long as your Father or I are alive. What happened last night is history, and hopefully history never, NEVER repeats itself. It's a closed book and won't be brought up unless you want to talk about it."
Richard had never seen his Mother as this assertive before but there was no doubt in his mind about her sincerity or resolve. They sat around the counter and finished breakfast. Richard's Dad was collecting the dishes and he said "Son, I think that the best thing that you could do to try and get your mind off these whatever is bothering you is for you to get a job. I've done a little checking and Bob Jenkins is looking for someone to help him in his electronics shop. Bill Berry down at the office told me about it - his younger brother worked there (a little white lie) and has moved on so they need someone desperately. He's taking applications next Monday morning. I'll arrange my schedule to take you out there Monday and if you get the job, then you and your Mother can share her car so that you don't have to go begging for rides or ride your bike."
Richard, being way above average on the intelligence scale, started putting two and two together. A job, a set of wheels - shows regaining some of their trust, money, good deal. "Hey man, that sounds like a great idea. You have a deal." Richard replied.
He got up and walked into the living room and flipped on the television. There on the floor was the indelible remnants of the stain from where he had cracked his head open. As the screen came to life, he couldn't help but laugh as the announcer said "Live from Lynchburg, Virginia, the `Old Time." and he surfed right on. "What's so funny out there?" his Mom asked. "Oh, nothing really." Richard replied. He settled in with the Home Shopping Network - something that would make noise but not require any thought. He was about to doze when the doorbell rang. "Get that, would you dear?" his Mother asked.
"K, Mom." He replied. He looked through the peephole. Jeezus Christ, it was Chad. He stood there like a deer caught in the headlights of a rapidly approaching semi. Chad rang the bell again. Richard, are you going to answer the door? His Mother asked.
"I've got it." and he slowly opened the door and stepped outside.
"Hey Richard." Chad said.
"lo, Chad." Richard said looking down at his shoes.
"Can we go inside and talk? I'm a little uneasy standing out here in front of the house with all the neighbors watching." Chad said.
"Do we have anything to talk about Chad?" Richard asked.
"Look, this insanity has got to end, Buddy. Right now. Let's go up to your room and talk." Chad said insistently.
They went in the house. "Who is it, Richard?" his Mother asked. "It's Chad, Mom." Richard replied. "Hi, Missus Dean." Chad laughingly shouted. "Oh, hey Chad. Haven't seen you around in a while. You guys want anything to drink while I'm still in the kitchen?" she asked.
And the two boys took the Cokes from Richards Mom and went up to his bedroom.
Chad broke the uneasy silence with "Richard, how long have we known each other? All our freakin lives, haven't we Bud? I know that I am your best friend, I think and I know you are my best Bud so this crap we have been going through this past two months has got to cease."
"I thought that you never wanted me to speak to you again after catching me with my pant's down, so to speak. Figured that you didn't want to have anything to do with someone who would do such a disgusting thing as let some other dude suck him off." Richard said.
"What? I was so damn embarrassed by you catching me after all I had said that I couldn't face you. You thought that... Oh, no. I should have kept my mouth shut." Chad said and he immediately started laughing.
"What's so funny?" Richard asked.
"You thought I had slipped back or saw you go in the john and was going in to embarrass you. Look, man. I have a confession to make. I was slipping back to get my dick sucked. That is to go no further than the walls of this room. Do you understand?" Chad said.
"Wha..?" Richard said and then both boys simultaneously pointed their fingers at each other and grabbed their stomachs as the burst into laughter. Downstairs Carl and Betty looked in the direction of Richards room and a smile came across their faces. It had been months since sounds such as this had graced their home.
As the laughter died down Chad held out his hand and said "Richard Dean, please accept my hand in apology for me being a total asshole these past few months."
Richard took Chad's hand and then drew him closer and hugged him and got him in a manly hug and said "Apology accepted. Chad, promise me one thing, okay?"
"What's that best Bud in the world?" Chad replied.
"Promise me that you won't ever let anything stupid come between us ever again." Chad said sniffling to hold back the tears.
Chad put a finger under Richards chin lifting his head up until they were staring eyeball to eyeball and said "Only if you're willing to do the same thing, Bud."
"Deal." Richard replied.
Richard felt a stirring in his undies. And he felt like Chad was sporting more proud flesh than normal also. This scene was almost like one from a movie. What should come next. A tender kiss? Groping?
"CUT"
"Hey, my Dad let me have the car this afternoon. Wanna jet over to Shakeys and get something? My treat?" Chad asked.
"Sounds like a winner to me. We're outa here." Richard replied.
As they walked to the door Chad said "Are you that happy to see me or do you have a mouse in your pocket?"
Richard turned 10 shades of red and stuck his hands in his pocket. "You bastard. You wish" he said.
They ran down the stairs with Richard announcing that they were leaving for a while.
"Have fun boys." Carl yelled as the door was slamming shut.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- That's all for now folks. I'd like to state that all the names are fictional - `cept for Rev. Falwell. Next chapter Richard goes to work. Does Richard and Brent's path's cross again? Do Richard and Eric get together? Got a direction you'd like to see the story take? Like I said in the beginning, your comments would be greatly appreciated. E-mail me at webworm@nex.net
