Who killed Bryan Langley?

Characters and possible suspects:

Jerry Campton - We know he and Luke is innocent of the murder as they were kissing inside the pantry when the murder was committed.

Luke Tate - We found out he and Jerry were in love, and was confessing it in the pantry during the time the murder took place.

Henry Westerfield - The first person Jerry and Luke ran into after the power went down. He also told them where the rest of the guys were.

Tyler Hudson - Hid behind the couch as he is terribly afraid of the dark. But does that entirely rule him out of murdering Bryan?

Matthew Solosis - Farrow asked for his help upstairs with "something" as his son Jerry was busy in the kitchen, during when the murder took place.

Farrow Campton - Jerry's father, came rushing from the top story when he heard his son's screams after finding Bryan's body. He emotionally hugged his son to comfort him, before calling the police.

Derek and Freddy Madison - The twins were the first to leave the house, with Derek furious at Jerry and Carone making fun of their mom being a former Playboy model.

Carone Parker - His parents ordered him to leave with the twins, as he arrived with them at the sleep over. Neither himself of the twins was seemingly at the house when Bryan was murdered.

Bryan Langley - Made jokes, laughed with the others, thanked Jerry personally for the party and even said they should do it more often before he was found dead after the power came back on.

Now, on with the story

The police had arrived, and his dad was speaking to the coroner and the undertakers. Everything seemed to happen in a fucking blur, he couldn't realise if it was real or not! He saw the paramedics carry what looked like a huge silver bag, which was laying on top of a stretcher outside towards their van. Suddenly he felt a cold arm touch his, and he quickly turned around in fright, only to see that it was Luke. The latter gently gave a little tug on his arm, wanting Jerry to follow him. Jerry walked along, letting his feet decide for him where he was going, because God knows, his mind wasn't working at the moment. He kept on seeing Bryan's nearly mutilated body inside that bath tub, and struggled not to think that only that same afternoon, Bryan still had scored two goals, helping their soccer team defeat Kempen Park High. Luke had came to a standstill, and Jerry could hear of a door opening, and Luke leading him inside, after which he could hear the closing of the same door. Jerry took little notice what was going on around him, but he knew that Luke brought him upstairs to his room.

"Jerry...Jerry, please look at me!" Luke urged him, his eyes full of unshed tears. He too had lost a dear friend and teammate tonight but he needed to stay strong for the boy he loved with all his heart. Jerry just shook his head, before Luke embraced him, rubbing the back of Jerry's neck soothingly, wanting to let him know that he was there for him.

"How...?" That was the first word Jerry had uttered since his blood curdling scream when finding Bryan's body. Luke didn't need to be a scientist to figure out what Jerry was talking about.

"I don't know dude. I may be cool and calm on the outside, but inside im fucking shaking, man. Who the hell wanted to kill him? Bryan of all people?"

"Have you thought about that this means?" Jerry asked a little more lively now, when the sudden realisation seemed to hit him right between the eyes. In answer to that, Luke nodded, his eyes wide with fear.

"Yes, dude. Me and you were in the pantry, inside the kitchen. And there wasn't anyone breaking in or shit like that, because one of us, or your dad would have heard it. Which fucking means that who ever killed Bryan..."

"...was one of the guys," Jerry completed the sentence. For that fact it seemed so freaking unreal. They had all been vast friends for as long as he can remember. Himself, Matthew and Tyler had attended Grade school together. They met Henry two years after that, when they moved here, and at that point, they were known as the four muskiteers, such good friends they were. Luke moved there at the beginning of the year, when Jerry lost he battle to love at first sight, when he first saw the former.

"Jerry, I don't wanna believe it, but it makes perfect sence, and there is no other way to look at it. Me and you were in the kitchen. So whoever killed Bryan, must have been either Tyler, Matthew or Henry. It sounds fucked to say it, but..."

"OH FUCK! I've just thought of something! If the police wants to know where me and you were when Bryan was killed...we can't fucking say we were kissing in the pantry!" Jerry whispered, covering his mouth in shock. Luke's heart dropped, he hadn't thought about this at all!

"Dude, that is our allibi. If they ask, we can just say we were in the pantry collecting some more food for the party. We know we didn't kill Bryan, Jerry. Dude, you're looking fucking pale, come on, sit down for a minute. You need to rest."

Jerry sat down on the edge of his bed, and looked around him. Everything felt, looked just the same as always, except, now there has been a murder committed inside his house. A murder of one of his best friends, and one of their other friends was probably the killer.

"What are you thinking?" Luke asked, lightly placing his head on Jerry's shoulder, and wrapping his arms around Jerry's middle. Before answering, Jerry placed his head on top of Luke's. They sat like that for a while, with Luke later starting to think that Jerry had fallen asleep before hearing him say:

"Im thinking that if Tyler, Matthew or Henry is capable of murdering Bryan, then they have no reason to stop there..."

"Are you saying...?"

"Yes, Luke. Whoever it was may come after the rest of us. The sad thing is, that me and you won't know who to trust. It can literally be any one of those three."

"Think how the rest of the guys must be feeling, dude. They don't know for a fact that me and you didn't do it. They must all be thinking the same thing..."

Before Luke could finish his sentence, there was slight knock of the door. Jerry and Luke looked at eachother, each spotting the fear in the other's eyes.

"Jerry? Buddy, are you in there?" Both boys sighed out loud when they heard Farrow's voice.

"Yeah Dad, come on in."

Farrow looked nearly 20 years older than before when he entered, and immediately placed his hand on his son's shoulder. This boy must have gone to hell and back tonight, he thought.

"Are you okay, Buddy? Should I maybe make an appointment for you at a councillor or specialist for sometime in the week?"

"Fuck no, Dad. I don't need to talk to a shrink to understand what happened tonight. I found Bryan fucking murdered with his blood running everywhere. There is no way getting past that. I have you and Luke. That's all I need."

Farrow's eyes flickered to Luke for the first time since he entered the room, and what Luke saw in them, frightned him for some reason. It was like a warning, or a sign of danger that he got from his best friend's dad. But he shrugged it off. He had known Jerry and Farrow for nearly a year now, and there was never anything to be worried about.

"Luke, would you give me and Jerry a minute, please?" Farrow asked, still with cautionous look in his eyes. Luke didn't answer, but quickly stood up and made his way out of the room. He closed the door behind him, but decided that he would eavesdrop. He hated doing that, but ONE THING he hadn't told Jerry, was that it wasn't only their teammates who could have murdered Bryan. Farrow, like it or not, was also in the house when the murder happened. And whether he was Jerry's father or not, that made him one of the suspects. He leaned in further to hear what was being said.

"Jerry, what happened here tonight was bad, very bad. I've never thought I'd have to deal with something like this happening in my own house. Jerry, the reason I wanted to talk to you alone...there wasn't any one else in the house except for myself, you, Luke, Henry, Tyler and Matthew. That means..."

"Dad, me and Luke were just talking about that ourselves, and I know what you're thinking. Luke was with me in the pantry when the power went out. We were getting more chips and stuff for the party. Who ever murdered Bryan, it wasn't Luke and it defintely wasn't me."

"Jerry, I never thought it was you, but I couldn't be sure about Luke. Im glad you told me, Buddy. Now...I tried to postpone the police from questioning you guys until tomorrow morning, but they insist it has to happen NOW. Lets get you a jacket, and do what they ask. Come on, let me help you up."

As Jerry decended the stairs, he saw Henry, Tyler, Matthew and Luke all standing there, with not one of them speaking to the others. Henry looked freaked out of his mind, while Tyler had silent tears running down his face. Matthew leaned on the wall, with his arms folded infront of him, staring into nothingness. Luke was the only one whom he knew didn't kill Bryan, and it was to him which Jerry walked to, before they heard Farrow's voice.

"Right boys, the police vans are wating outside. They want to question all of you guys tonight still. Please just give them all your support and please work with them..."

"This is so unfair! I didn't do shit to Bryan!" Tyler screamed, his voice hoarse from crying.

"Neither did I for that matter, why should we go to the cops?" Matthew asked calmly.

"Nobody said that you guys are guilty. But the fact remains that we were the only people in the house. It doesn't help to wanna pussy foot around this! One of you guys inside this house killed Bryan!"

"Are they gonna question you aswell? You were upstairs when it happened, or so you claim..." Henry spoke for the first time, stating the question that everyone of them except Jerry had thought about. The latter didn't take it to well.

"Fuck you, Henry! My father isn't a cold blooded killer!" he screamed.

"Meaning I am?" Henry screamed back, visibly upset.

"CALM THE FUCK DOWN!!" Luke screamed from where he was standing. Everyone turned towards him. Luke didn't get mad easily, but when he did, he was frightning to say the least.

"Mr Campton is right. You guys don't know this, but me and Luke were in the kitchen pantry getting more snacks and stuff when the power went out. You can ask Henry about that, he saw us coming out of the kitchen. He said Tyler was somewhere around, since he is afraid of the dark. He also said Matthew was upstairs helping Mr Campton, and that Bryan was in the toilet. Is there anyone that says Henry lied about that?"

"No, I did ask Matthew to help me fix the chandelier upstairs in my room, I can vouch for that," Farrow said, with Matthew nodding in agreement.

"When I went along with Mr Campton, Bryan said he was going to the toilet, that's true, I heard him say that," he said.

Everyone's faces turned towards Tyler.

"What are you all looking at me for? When the lights went out, I ducked behind the same couch which you guys saw me from! I didn't come close to killing Bryan!" he shouted, wiping his tears angrily.

"Henry?" Farrow asked gently. Henry didn't say a word, he just kept on staring out infront of him. Farrow walked over to him and place a hand on his shoulder, just like he did with Jerry.

"Fact is, dudes...that myself and Luke know that we are not guilty, because we were together in the pantry when it happened. And I don't wanna think this of any of you guys...we have been best friends for a fuck long time...but I can't change the facts of this situation. It had to be either Henry, Tyler, Matthew...or you, Dad," Jerry spoke, saying his dad name in a mere whisper.

"Come on guys, the police are waiting. Whatever you guys do, just please tell them the truth. And yes, Henry...I will also be questioned. There was never a doubt that I wouldn't be. I've got nothing to hide. Let's go."

One by one, the young teenagers and Farrow was questioned about where they were during when the murder took place. An estimated time of death was determined, and it was discovered that Jerry and Luke, aswell as Farrow and Matthew, was the only ones who had a allibi, as they were able to vouch for eachother. But Henry couldn't not state without a shadow of a doubt that he knew where Tyler was during the murder or that somebody could vouch that he just stayed inside the livingroom and ofcourse vice versa. Tyler said he ducked behind the couch in the fetal position, and layed there with his eyes close until Jerry and Luke came out of the kitchen. The boys were incredibly tired after they gotten back to Jerry's house, where their parents were all waiting for them. The police had strongly advised them, not to take trips out of the state, and that they would want to speak to them again in a few days.

Tyler's face paled as he climbed out of the police van and saw his father storming up towards him.

"I told you to stay away from this damn sleep over, Tyler, but you refused! Look what you have gotten yourself into!" Tyler's father yelled at him, before shoving him into the car, before driving away, not bothering to speak to anyone else.

"What was that all about?" Luke asked to no one in particular.

"It was his parents's wedding anniversary last night, and they wanted him there with them. He chose to come to the sleep over," Matthew said, before he left for his mother's car without even saying good bye to any of them. Rita Westerfield, Henry's mother, came up to Farrow in the meantime.

"For heaven's sakes Farrow, are you guys okay?" she asked worryingly.

"Yeah Rita, psycically we are all fine, but mentally, this will take a little time to get over this. You better take Henry home and let him rest a bit, he must be incredibely tired. I'll talk to you later."

"Thanks, Farrow. I'll call you," Rita said, before walking away to her car, with Henry behind her. Farrow turned around and placed his hand around Jerry and the other around Luke, as Luke's dad was waiting infront of the house.

"Luke, tell me now. Did you kill that Bryan boy?" he asked.

"WHAT? Dad, how can you even think that?" Luke asked, his eyes wide with shock.

"Just answer the question, Luke. You know why I'm asking," his dad said, leaving Farrow and Jerry with frowns on their faces.

"No, I didn't! Ask Jerry, I was with him when it happened!"

"Its true, Sir. Luke wasn't near Bryan when he was murdered," Jerry said, but also wanting to know more to what Mr Tate was seemingly hinting at.

"Fine. I just came to say that I won't be home tonight. Any chance Luke can stay here tonight, Farrow? I'll pay for for any inconvience."

"I don't want your money, Gareth. Luke can stay here anytime he wants. Come on, Jerry, lets get inside."

Jerry walked after his dad into the house. He badly needed the toilet at this time, but he couldn't face going to the bathroom after what happened. He heard the door slam behind him, only to see a furious Luke storming his way up to Jerry's room.

"Give him a little time on his own, son. He also needs to deal with his own issues," Farrow said, watching Luke running up the stairs. Jerry walked with his father to the kitchen, and switched on the kettle for some hot chocolate.

"Dad, where exactly were you when the power went out?"

"I was upstairs, Buddy. I came down and Henry told me you were in the kitchen, so I rather asked Matthew to help me, since he was the tallest. We fixed the chandelier, I thanked him, and he went back down. I decided to read a bit, because that's why I wanted to fix the chandelier, I couldn't quite see as good. I was reading when I heard you scream, and you yourself saw me coming down from the stairs. I wasn't anywhere near Bryan on my own last night."

"Im sorry I had to ask, Dad."

"I understand, Buddy. It could have been any of us. The police says that Bryan had been stabbed with a sharp object numerous times, but it was the stab in his heart area which killed him. Matthew told me that Bryan's words was: "I have to piss like a racehorse, dudes!" and then he left. That was the last time he had seen him alive."

"Dad, I don't know about Matthew and Henry, but Tyler is shit scared of the dark, it couldn't have been him. This one time at camp, our lanturn went out, and he stayed in the exact same place where he was until we got it working again. I believe that when the power went out, he probably ducked behind the couch and stayed there, until me and Luke came looking for them, just as he said."

"I don't wanna make assumptions, Jerry, but it seems to me and Henry is the only one without any sort of alibi. Neither is Tyler, but if he is as afraid of the dark as you say..."

"I have thought about that, Dad. I don't know what to think anymore," Jerry said before he took the two cups of steaming hot chocolate and left for his room. Farrow looked at his son walking up the stairs, and when he saw that Jerry was completely out of sight, he fished his cellphone out of his jeans's pocket and dialled a familiar number, making quite sure he couldn't be seen nor heard...

Luke sat up quickly as Jerry entered the room with two mugs. He gave one to Luke, and sat his own on the dressing table. Luke stood up, and before Jerry knew that hit him, Luke planted a big ass kiss on his lips. After all the tension of the last few hours, it was exactly what both boys needed. Their hands were all over eachother, with their fingers gripping and caressing everywhere possible. Jerry pulled away after a few breathless minutes.

"Dude, we can't...not here, not now...my dad is just downstairs..."

"Jerry I need to do something because if I keep on thinking my mind is gonna fucking explode!" Luke said, his eyes starting to water. Jerry once more pulled him close, and rubbed his back soothingly.

"It's okay, Luke. I still love you, so freakin much. Don't you ever forget that."

"I won't dude, because I feel the same."

Jerry leaned forward and kissed Luke's forehead. This wasn't the right time to wanting to go further in their relationship. It wasn't because they were gay, but they had bigger stuff to deal with at the moment. Bryan was murdered, and knowing who ever killed him was one of their best friends wasn't easy to deal with. Who of them could they trust? If they trusted the wrong dude, and they end up killed like Bryan? But what both boys wondered about the most in their romantic embrace, wasn't really who killed Bryan...the person who did it, must have had a good reason to want him dead. What could that have possibly been? Bryan never harmed anyone!

Meanwhile, Farrow had slipped out of the backdoor, and quickly ran over to the rubbish bins. As quietly as possible he started to work his way through the smelly pieces of garbage until he found what he was looking for.

A cellphone.

He immediately pressed a few buttons until he got to the Pictures and Videos section of the phone. He took a deep breath, and opened the Pictures folder. Just as he thought...they were all still there. Pictures of Bryan Langley in the bath tub, bleeding to death taken from different angles. He closed the folder and went into the Videos. There was only one of them. He pressed play...

"Oh, hey dude! You ahead and use it, I just finished pissing. Wow, this afternoon was crazy shit, man! Can't believe I scored two goals, while you had your sorry ass on the bench! Uhh...hey bro, I was just kidding! Uhm...dude, what's with the knife and phone in my face? Dude? OUCH!! Hey man, what the fuck? OUCH!! AHH, AHH!!! Dude, sto...AHH!!"

The screen on the phone suddenly went black. So did Bryan's screams of pain as he was repeatedly stabbed.

The video was over.

Farrow's face was as white as snow.
