Gay

An alarm clock sounded off at 7:30 pm as Terell gently

opened his brown eyes to the sunlight of dawn that shown through the

curtains of his new bedroom window. A faint scent of scrambled eggs

and bacon wafted through his nostrils as he began to get up out of bed

He trotted downstairs and found his mother in front of the stove, a

stern but soft sight she was.

"Good morning mama" he said gently kissing her on the cheek

"Mornin" his mother replied "You looking for a job today right?"

"Yes Ma'am" he said, he respected immensly as she raised him all

by herself since the age of 7 when his father left them for no reason.

Terell had seen what it did to his mother, it devastated her and it

showed. Through it all, Terell had always been by her side.

Terell finished his breakfast and lept up the stairs to his

room to get ready to job hunt. As he fumbled through clothes

still unpacked he found an old picture of his father loose

at the bottom of the box. He couldnt help but feel a pang of hurt

as to why he had left him so young. But that quickly faded as he noticed

a movement out of the corner of his eye. He had never noticed that

Marcus was in the room across from him...he caught a glimpse of him

cleaning his camera.

"He seems like a nice kid...not to mention CUTE" Terell thought

to himself. But he quickly shook himself back into reality and

got back to preparing himself for the day. His thoughts were

centered on getting himself a job today...or at least try to.

In his hurried attempt to grab a pair of socks he accidentally

knocked over another unpacked box sending it tumbling to the floor.

Terell shot over to pick it up as he noticed one of his secret

gay porn magazines slipped out of all the mess.

"Crap, mom will KILL me if she finds this" . Obviously, Terell

had to always hide his sexuality from his mother.

As he went down the stairs and stepped out the front door,

he said goodbye to his mother and went to apply for employment

at the local grocery store. He got 2 blocks away from his

house and was standing at a crossing about to cross when he saw

a 4 door Sedan roll up in front of him. It was Marcus.

"Need a ride man?" Marcus had luckily happen to be driving through

the same time Terell was crossing. He wasnt about to miss out

on an opportunity to help someone or make a friend. Terell paused

for a moment...he took a while to recognize Marcus.

"Oh hey Marcus!..um..i guess its cool" Terell opened the passenger

side of the Sedan and hopped in.

"Where to?" asked Marcus

"To the grocery...my butt has got to apply for a job" Terell

said making Marcus laugh a little.

"You got it!" Marcus said as he pulled into the street.

They drove for another block or so. At this point Marcus was

seriously wondering wether Terell was gay too...he thought he saw

him checking him out a few times through the side view mirror trying

to be slick.

"Thanks for the lift man, so..how long have you lived here?"

Terell asked Marcus.

Marcus went on to tell his life story, his southern friendly side

coming out as he stated he was born here but left a while back for

New York. Terell sat there in his seat ...totally enthralled in

his story of traveling the world and meeting photographers and

important people. He had never done anything close to that. Something

inside Terell sparked...actually, he was bit by bit developing a

crush on Marcus. To Terell, Marcus seemed worldly, friendly, and

interesting, but he couldnt help but feel terrified at the

posibility that Marcus might be straight and would feel horrified

if he found out it was obvious he was gay too.

They finally arrived at the grocery and they found a parking

space that was close. They both stepped out of the car and walked

towards the store. It was a slightly overcast day..it seemed as though

the clouds wanted to tease the sun or something.

"I gotta get some groceries for our house so I might as well

go in as well, ya wanna meet back here when youre through?"

"Sure...see ya in a few!" Terell waved as he wondered if Marcus

was checking him out as he walked away.

Terell walked up to the customer service desk and asked for an

application.

"Are you all hiring at the moment?" he asked the clerk.

"Why yes we are..we might be able to use you if theres an

opening" she said...then she suddenly looked up "Marcus is that you?!"

"Jesse?!" Marcus appeared with a small basket of groceries.

Terell looked dumbfounded as he looked at the two conversing,

filling out his application.

"Since when have you been back?!, its been like forever!" Jesse

shouted.

Marcus trotted over happy to see his old friend and co worker.

"Hey Terell...sorry about that...this is Jesse..my old friend,

Jesse this is Terell...he just moved here" Marcus said politetly

"Nice to meet you...wow...guess everybody knows eachother here"

Terell asked "Ok all done" He said as he turned in his application.

"Thanks...so...you know Marcus now hehe...take it from me..he's

a DORK!" she said in her usual joking tone

"WHATEVER!" Marcus retorted

"I think we might be friends soon", Terell said placing his

hand on Marcus's shoulder subconciously in a "damn i wanna touch

you" state of mind.

"Well, we better be off, it was cool sein you again Jesse..im

back for a while i guess...see ya later!" Marcus and Terell started

towards the front exit of the store.

"I guess that means we're friends now?" Marcus asked smiling.

"Yeah...its cool" Terell replied trying not to sound too

immature and naive. Suddenly they heard cries from behind them.

"You hear that?" Marcus asked as they turned around to see

a little girl crying all by herself in the parking lot.

"Wheres my mommy?"..........
