Westlife Romance - Part 37
The night went on and Nicky stole the spotlight. He mingled all over the ballroom, chatting with guests of all ages. He danced with the ladies and talked business with the gentlemen. All in all, Nicky was the talk of the ballroom. Of course, the other lads did their share of promotion, but it was obvious who was pulling the weight that night.
It was nearly eleven when the first guests began to leave, although the majority of them stayed behind. Nicky decided that he'd had enough and made a quiet exit from the ballroom, but not before catching Bryan's attention. Bryan excused himself and ran after Nicky. Seeing Nicky's smiles and laughter earlier in the night, Bryan told himself that perhaps now was a good time to talk to his band mate.
"Nix, wait up!" Bryan called out as he ran after his band mate.
Nicky turned and looked at Bryan running towards him. But there was no smile in his face.
"What is it, Bryan?"
"I...I thought maybe we could talk..." Bryan said nervously.
"Don't think that'll be necessary, Bryan," Nicky replied firmly. "I already told you. I don't have a problem. And I don't need your help. Just leave me alone." And as those words were spoken, Nicky walked into the elevator and the door closed, leaving a disappointed Bryan standing in the lobby.
Bryan went back to the party but he did so reluctantly. Finally, the party ended a little past midnight and the four remaining lads went back to their hotel floor. As the doors of the elevator opened, they saw Nicky emerging from the lounge with a bottle of water. Again, Bryan called out.
Nicky turned and was clearly very annoyed. "What is it now, Bryan?" he demanded with a hostile tone. The other lads were taken aback by this, but Bryan had already expected it.
"Nix, please talk to me," Bryan pleaded. "I'm begging you!"
"I already told you to leave me alone," Nicky replied. "Which part didn't you understand? Why must you always be a pest?" The words that came from Nicky stung Bryan and his face clearly showed it.
Shane had clearly heard enough and couldn't stand Nicky's attitude any longer. "That is so unfair to Bryan, Nicky and you know it!" he said angrily.
Nicky took a step closer and stared at Shane angrily. "Don't talk to me about what's fair and unfair, Shane. I suppose it was fair that my boyfriend cheated on me and treated me like fool, right? I suppose I deserved to be raped by the one person that I loved and trusted, right?" Nicky yelled, furious with Shane's comment. Without waiting for an answer, Nicky turned and headed to his room, slamming the door so hard that the lads cringed at the sound.
Once inside the security of his room, Nicky collapsed on the bed and shook with tears. "I'm so sorry, Bryan," he whispered. "I'm sorry...Why do you have to be so patient with me...I'm no good for you, Bryan...just move on..."
Meanwhile, Bryan went into his room quietly and sat by the window, struggling to hold his tears back. "I'm not going to give up, Nix..." he vowed. "I'll wait for you even if it's the last thing I do..."
Nicky tossed and turned in his bed, flailing his arms and whispering incoherently. "No...no...don't...no...please let me go, please..." For the next half an hour, Nicky's tormentor continued his work. Nicky's blond hair was soaked with cold sweat and his mind was taunted. "NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!" he yelled as he bolted up from his bed.
"Fuck," he mumbled, knowing that it was another nightmare. It had become so frequent that he was beginning to accept these horrific nightmares, only that with each nightmare, they were becoming increasingly real and terrorizing. The cool night breeze blew into the room, causing Nicky to shiver. "Oh God...I need you, Bryan...I need you..." he cried. But he knew the path that he must take. He must face this alone. He had made a decision to drive Bryan away, a decision to bear the pain himself. Little did he realize that by doing so, the pain that he inflicted on Bryan and the rest of the lads were beyond what words could describe. He looked out the window, to the slowly brightening sky. The window then began to move, slowly...then there were two windows...then three. The bed began to move...and the floor...The room began to spin...faster and faster. Nicky buried his face in his hands, hoping that he could stop the spinning, and for a while, the spinning stopped. As he got up off of the bed, again, the spinning began. Nicky struggled to the bathroom, grabbing onto anything that he could find along the way. After five tortuous minutes, he finally made it.
He searched frantically for his medication, and thankfully, it didn't take him long. He took out two pills and downed it with cold water. Splashing his face with water, he finally managed to stand without having to grab onto anything. The spinning eventually stopped. The sun was rising. Nicky put on his clothes and sighed. Another day of putting on a mask, another day of driving away his friends. Sighing again, Nicky opened the door and walked down the hall to the lounge.
