Washington Academy Chapter 4 Hell Week
Hell Week had begun. Robbie returned to his dorm room hoping for some sleep and looked at his exhausted plebe buddies. Summer Training and the first four days of Hell Week had devastated his dorm room group, and only 10 plebes remained from the original 20. The only thing that had given him and his 9 buddies the strength to continue was the leadership of Tracker Whitestone. The Native American had taught his plebe buddies the power of meditation and prayer to whatever God they believed in. Every time they had a break in the exhaustive P. T., they sat in a circle on the floor and meditated to clear their minds and fight off the fatigue.
Dr. Linda Miller was sitting in the staff meeting of the administrators and voiced her concerns over the intensity of the Hell Week activities. Her staff was constantly monitoring the condition of the plebes with examinations, but she warned Vincent Brown that hazing activities had to be toned down. She had been the Medical Director at the academy for five years, and had never seen a plebe class put through such a difficult week with very limited rest. She demanded that the plebes be allowed at least five hours of sleep before the Friday activities that would end Hell Week.
Chancellor Brown relented and ordered his staff to follow the directions of the Medical Director. He realized that Linda was right, and also knew that his supply of female companionship would drastically be curtailed if he didn't follow her demands. He was anxious for Hell Week to end so his staff could relax. He'd kept his affair with Linda Miller a secret from his wife and staff, and questioned how he could love two women at the same time. His two daughters were in college now, and he spent most of his time away from his luxury home on Peninsular Drive to attend to the business of running the academy. His wife had turned frigid after her "changes of life" and never questioned his late nights at the academy or the recruiting trips across the country. He loved the academy and was proud of the accomplishments of the cadets that included superior scores in the ACT and SAT college entrance exams. The Washington Academy Eagles were the Class A Football Champions in the State of Michigan, and other high school superintendents were jealous of the academic and athletic standing of the academy.
Robbie and his plebe buddies were exhausted when they got to their dorm. They pushed aside their exhaustion and let Tracker lead them in meditation before they collapsed on their beds. They were so tired that they fell asleep without removing their grubs.
Drew was in a meeting of big brothers and shared his feelings that the hazing was excessive. He had witnessed the transformation of Robert Mathews from a happy guy with sparkling eyes into a robot that followed orders with no emotion. Gone was the happy face of his little brother, only to be replaced with emptiness and sadness.
Guy Stephens and Derrick Harmon had left the campus to have supper at Bosley's Harbor Inn, a famous restaurant in the Traverse City area. They sipped their drinks and reflected back on their SEAL training and how it was very similar to what the plebes were being subjected to.
"Next year we have to do things differently," Guy said to Derrick. "We're dealing with boys, not men! We're down to 245 plebes now, and I sure don't want to lose another one. We let the upperclassmen add too many stressful situations and exhausting challenges for a bunch of young teens."
"Dr. Miller would agree with that," Derrick admitted. "Let's develop a new plan for Summer Training and crank Hell Week down to something realistic. Vince will support us if we work with Linda to change things to more mental testing instead of physical exhaustion."
Both of the former SEALs knew that their boss was having an affair with the Medical Director, but knew that the affair wasn't affecting the operation of the academy. They finished their meal and headed back to the academy for the 2200 meeting with the cadets in charge of the final tests of Hell Week that would include the Snake Pit.
Keith and Drew were surprised to see each other behind the Grant Athletic Building. They smiled at each other and quickly disappeared into the shrubbery and trees for some sexual relief.
"I'm glad you showed up," Drew said while dropping to his knees in front of Keith. He quickly pulled down the sweatpants of his friend and swallowed the entire 8 inches of Keith's cock. He really enjoyed sucking Keith's dick and wished that they had time to trade fucks. He loved shoving his thick cock inside the tight ass of another guy and dreamed of popping Robbie's cherry. He took Keith's cock to the hilt and rotated his head to provide added stimulation to his cadet buddy. His lips ground against the red pubic hair while his nostrils were filled with the aroma of a freshly showered crotch. His oral maneuvers were quickly rewarded with several blasts of thick cum. He gulped down the tangy sauce and reflected how strong the flavor of Keith's jizz was compared to Robbie's. He had only blown Robbie twice when they shared R & R at the lake, and he longed for another chance to have sex with his little brother. Summer Training and Hell Week had limited the private time he could share with Robbie, and they only had a few opportunities for a brief hug.
Keith Philips enjoyed the talented mouth of his cadet buddy, but longed for the uncut cock of his little brother, Tracker Whitestone. There was something mystical about the Native American, and whenever they were alone, Keith felt the superior mental strength of his little brother. They had barely avoided being caught by Mr. Edwards when they were fucking in the head (toilet) in Washington Hall. Tracker was a great sexual partner, but was very vocal when he was being fucked. The handsome plebe usually came when he was being drilled, and had trouble holding back his groans and screams of ecstasy. Keith stared at Drew's cock and wished that it were Tracker's cock that he was going to suck.
Drew could tell that his buddy was thinking about a different guy, so he shoved his cock into Keith's warm mouth to bring his buddy back to the real world. He saw the startled look on the face of his close friend and laughed while shoving his 9 inches to the hilt. Keith was one of his favorite buddies to share intimacy with behind the athletic building because he could take all 9 inches of his cock without gagging. His desire for a quickie was satisfied when he pumped his load of goop down Keith's throat. He fucked Keith's mouth and throat until his orgasm was finished.
The two satisfied cadets pulled up their sweatpants and quickly left the protection of the shrubs to head for their dorm room. They both wished that Lamar Young and Justin Chambers were more receptive to gay sex so they could suck and fuck in their room. Lamar and Justin both enjoyed having their dicks sucked, but rarely reciprocated. Neither one would take a fuck up the ass, and always seemed more interested in sex with females than males.
At 0400 hours on Friday of Hell Week, the banging of drums and sounds of screaming cadets shocked the plebes awake. The startled plebes quickly donned their tennis shoes and followed the cadets on a ten-mile run around the campus.
Robbie saw other groups of plebes doing exercises and knew that cadets had split the plebe class up for the final day of Hell Week. All watches had been confiscated from the plebes when Hell Week started, and all wall clocks had been removed. Tracker always seemed to know the exact time of day, and whispered the time to the plebes in his group of "maggots".
It was nearly 1200 hours when the group of 10 plebes arrived at the lake. They were instructed to strip to their boxers and swim to the float approximately 200 yards out in the lake. Robbie was tired, but he was an expert swimmer and led his group through the water and towards the swim float. He felt something drag him under the surface of the water and quickly realized that someone had scuba equipment and was pulling him towards the bottom of the lake. He kicked the diver in the face and broke free of his grip. Before he headed for the surface, he tore off the mask and air line of the diver to force him to the surface.
Tracker was swimming towards the float when he felt something grab his legs.
He struggled at the surface and swallowed water before being dragged down.
He saw Robbie swimming underwater towards him and tried to break loose from the diver.
Robbie was furious that someone would try to drown him and his plebe buddies. He dove down and hit the diver with his fist, breaking the strap of the facemask and knocking the air line out of the diver's mouth. He grabbed Tracker and helped him swim to the surface while the startled cadet tried to get the air supply back in his mouth.
Tracker got to the surface and had trouble catching his breath. He was coughing and disoriented from the attack of the diver, but he knew that Robbie had protected him. The other plebes made it to the swim float and saw two cadets coughing and cussing when they got to the shore of the lake.
When Tracker calmed down, he thanked Robbie for saving his life. He admitted that he wasn't a strong swimmer and had panicked when he was dragged under the surface.
"Those assholes wouldn't have let you drown," Robbie said. "They just wanted to scare us. When I find out who they are, I'm gonna kick their asses!"
Adam Wentworth and Heath Clark were both embarrassed when they got to the shoreline of the lake. They had both tried to scare the plebes by pulling them under the surface of the lake, but Plebe Mathews had nailed both of them. They both had bruises on their faces from blows from Robbie, and they took a lot of teasing from the other cadets on the shoreline.
Robbie and Tracker were with Tom Holden and Jim Seifert when they faced the last obstacle of Hell Week. They looked at Cadet David Benson and listened to their final challenge.
"This is it!" David said to the exhausted plebes. "You will all follow the course through the Snake Pit and collect the six flags. If you miss a flag, you have to start all over again. The course goes around the peninsula and ends on the other side of the road. Good luck!"
The four plebes looked out over the swamp and couldn't believe that they were expected to get into the muck and collect flags without sinking out of sight in the stinking mud. They saw Cadet Benson leave and they knew that they had to finish the course within 30 minutes.
Robbie was talking to his buddies about where they should start when he saw Tracker become silent and motion for his buddies to be quiet.
"There's someone out there," Tracker said.
"Cadets are all over the place getting their rocks off watching us," Robbie replied.
"I sense danger!" Tracker replied. "Forget the flags. We need to take cover!"
Robbie, Tom and Jim knew that Tracker had taught them how to meditate and focus their minds on any task during Hell Week. They could see the intensity in Tracker's face and knew that he was genuinely anxious.
Robbie took control and quickly looked around for a place for the plebes to hide. He saw some downed trees that had been pushed into the swamp and told his buddies to remain calm until he gave them the signal to run for the cover. When the three guys heard the signal from Robbie, they all jumped into the swamp and struggled through the muck to get to the downed trees. Bullets splattered against the water and struck the trees before they were safely behind the cover.
"WHAT THE FUCK!" Guy Stephens exclaimed. "Those were gunshots! Give me the radio!"
Drew Anderson and Keith Philips were with two other cadets waiting at the end of the Snake Pit. They hoped to greet their little brothers at the end of the Snake Pit challenge that would end Hell Week. They thought that someone was setting off firecrackers to scare the plebes, but saw that Guy Stephens was alarmed.
Guy Stephens called Central Dispatch in the Washington Hall and demanded to speak to Colin Williams, Chief of Campus Security. From his years in the military, he knew the difference between firecrackers and gunshots, and reverted back to his days of active duty with the SEALs. Kerry Johnson was the cadet manning the dispatch center and quickly paged Chief Williams to come to the center.
"Who's authorized to fire a weapon?" Guy Stephens demanded of Chief Williams. "I heard gunshots here at the Snake Pit!"
Robbie and the other plebes were terrified that someone was shooting at them. They hid behind the trees in the swamp and listened to bullets hitting the trees near their hiding place.
"He's moving to higher ground!" Tracker said. "I can't see him, but I can sense that he's climbing up!"
Robbie looked in the direction that the shots had come from and quickly realized that whoever was shooting at them was close to the other side of the road where the Snake Pit ended. He knew that Drew would be waiting for him to finish the obstacle course along with the big brothers of Tracker, Jim and Tom. He realized that his big brother was in danger and acted quickly. After telling his plebe buddies to stay hidden, he struggled out of the swamp and ran up the slope to the road.
"Someone's running on the road!" Drew yelled. He was still confused about the gunfire or firecrackers and thought it was another cadet trying to scare the plebes. When he recognized Robbie running on the road, he was afraid his young friend was giving up and running to "ring out".
"GET DOWN!" Robbie screamed when he launched his body against Drew and Guy Stephens. His body was in the air when he felt the impact of the bullet tearing through his buttocks. He screamed in pain while he tumbled to the ground with Drew and Guy.
"CODE RED!" Guy Stephens screamed into the radio. "CODE RED IN SECTOR 7! ONE MAN DOWN! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!"
Kerry Johnson had been at the Dispatch Center during drills at the academy. All cadets and plebes had run to the basements of the nearest building during the drills when they heard the warbling sirens. They had to remain in the basement with armed guards until the "all clear" message was broadcasted.
Colin Williams had been ready to talk to his security officers before shift change when he got the page to report to the Dispatch Center. He recognized the voice of Guy Stephens and sprang into action. He lifted the protective cover from the emergency button and turned on the emergency sirens.
Across the campus, the cadets, plebes and faculty members ran for the emergency shelters. Every member of the faculty and administration had been trained in firing weapons, and they quickly armed themselves and headed for their assigned post.
"Light up the board and give me a status report!" Colin yelled at Kerry. "Initiate the emergency pagers! I'm taking command!"
Kerry followed the orders of the Security Chief and realized that the academy was under attack. He had heard Mr. Stephens say that a cadet was down, and he knew from his training that the message meant someone was shot.
He clicked on the "Code Red" button on the computer screen and then hit the "Pager" icon.
Vincent Brown was shopping in Traverse City with his wife when his cell phone rang. He saw the text message of "CODE RED" and ran out of the store.
His wife left her packages to follow her husband out of the store and heard him screaming on his cell phone.
"JESUS CHRIST!" Vince shouted. He had just heard the report that a cadet was wounded and he was appalled! The academy had emergency codes for intruders, but the Code Red was the most serious. A Code Blue warning identified a breach in security from an intruder, but a Code Red was only used for an armed attack. In the history of the academy, he had never known of a Code Red alert! He told his wife to stay in town while he ran for his car.
"Bay County Sheriff, this is Chief of Security Colin Williams at the Washington Academy," he said to the 911 operator. "We have an armed intruder with shots fired. We have one casualty and need assistance in securing the perimeter of our grounds. We have armed security forces responding to the area! DO NOT let any deputies enter our grounds!"
"Washington Academy, I've alerted the Day Commander. Units are being diverted to your location. Do you need air support?" the 911 operator asked. "Air One is on traffic duty but can be on site in five minutes."
"Send the chopper to the southeast perimeter of the academy," Lt. Williams ordered. "We need to identify the source of the gunfire. Does the chopper have infrared equipment?"
"Negative on the infrared," the 911 operator replied. "The chopper's on the way. We've issued a request for support from the City Police and Alger County Sheriff Departments. All units will remain outside your perimeter until you give us authorization to enter."
Colin Williams had been in the Army Special Forces and was accustomed to pressure and dangerous situations. He had prepared his officers to handle intruders with the hope that they would never face a terrorist. The repeated drills would now be tested under an actual attack. "Alpha Force your target is Sector 7" Colin instructed his special group of armed officers using the emergency radio frequency. "One cadet is down! Extreme force is authorized! Sweep and neutralize!"
Kerry listened to the orders of the Chief of Security and lit up the display board that showed outlines for each building on campus. He began receiving phone calls when each building was secured and protected by armed guards. Each time he received a call he clicked on the computer keyboard to change the light for that building from green to red. He was trying to remain calm, but he was scared when he heard the voice of Guy Stephens asking for Chief Williams.
"Get Dr. Miller and have her pull the file on Robert Mathews," Mr. Stephens said. "He's down with a gunshot wound to his buttocks and there may be other casualties. When this sector's clear, we need medical response. Three plebes are in the swamp at the beginning of the Snake Pit and four cadets and the casualty are with me at the end."
"Roger that!" Colin Williams replied. He turned to Kerry and saw tears running down the face of the cadet. "Can you handle this or do I need to relieve you of duty?" he asked Kerry.
"I can do it," Kerry choked out while dialing the number for Dr. Miller's cell phone. He really liked Robbie Mathews and was terrified that the young plebe had been shot. He handled the call expertly, and was complimented by Mr. Williams.
"Alpha Force, what's your status?" Lt. Williams questioned. He didn't hear a response and correctly guessed that his team of ten men were sweeping the area and maintaining radio silence.
"Security Forces, give me status reports of your sweeps," Chief Williams said to the other security officers searching the academy grounds away from Sector 7. He was thankful that the Code Red had happened during shift change when 20 extra officers were on the campus. He heard the helicopter flying over the building and waited for a report from Alpha Force.
Drew screamed when he saw the blood pouring out of Robbie's body. He was holding Robbie down behind a tree with Guy Stephens yelling for everyone to stay behind cover. It was a terrifying experience to hear bullets flying over his head and hitting the tree he was hiding behind. He tried to comfort Robbie and prayed that his little brother would live.
"Put pressure on the wound!" Guy Stephens ordered Drew. "Everyone stay down until the security forces secure the area!"
Robbie moaned in pain. His ass was on fire and he fought to stay conscious.
He hugged Drew and sobbed on his shoulder.
John Zachary was the leader of Alpha Force and deployed his men in the woods near the Snake Pit. He was carefully approaching the Snake Pit when a shot hit his bullet-resistant vest and knocked him to the ground. Another bullet hit the tree near his head, and he knew where the shots originated. He immediately returned fire with his AK-47, along with the men in his team. Most of his men had been trained with M-16's during their military service, but they all preferred the Russian assault weapons that the academy provided.
Guy Stephens was anxiously waiting for arrival of the security forces when he heard the flurry of AK-47 rounds being fired. The woods of the Washington Academy echoed with the unique cracking sounds from the powerful assault rifles and the aroma of gunpowder seared everyone's nasal passages. Guy knew that the security officers had located one of the armed intruders and were taking aggressive actions.
The four cadets waiting for their little brothers screamed in fear that their buddies were in danger. The gunshots were still ringing in their ears when they head the radio crack with information.
"Perp #1 is down!" John Zachary reported to Chief Williams after seeing the body of a man fall out of a tall oak tree. His chest ached from the impact of the gunshot, but the vest had stopped the bullet and had saved his life! He knew from the way that the body fell to the ground that the attacker was dead. He struggled to his feet and sent his men on a sweep of the area to search for more attackers.
Colin Williams was taking status reports from his officers when he got a call from the front gate that Chancellor Brown had arrived and asked to be admitted to the academy. Under any emergency situation, the highest-ranking security officer on the campus had total control. All gates were locked and protected by armed guards until the "all clear" announcement was broadcasted.
"Let Mr. Brown in, but secure the gate after he enters," Chief Williams ordered. He listened to status reports from his officers sweeping the campus and was relieved that no more gunshots were heard.
"Sector 7 is clear!" John Zachary reported. "The perp's dead! Perimeter's established!"
Colin Williams was relieved that the intruder had been neutralized, but was still concerned that other terrorists could be on the campus.
"Med Evac, you're authorized to enter Sector 7 with caution!" Colin Williams said to the waiting ambulance team. He heard the siren on the Academy ambulance when it passed Washington Hall on the way to the Snake Pit. He kept the entire academy under "Lock Down" to protect the cadets and staff members. He talked to John Zachary and told him to cover for the ambulance and guard the downed intruder. He called the front gate and asked his guard to request a Sheriff Department CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) team.
Guy Stephens was relieved when he saw the ambulance arrive with the paramedics. Dr. Linda Miller was in charge and quickly ran to check on the wounded plebe.
Drew was terrified and didn't want to let Robbie out of his embrace. He listened to his buddy sobbing in pain and wanted to do something to help him. He felt Guy Stephens pulling him away from Robbie and struggled with his football coach.
"Let the paramedics take care of him!" Guy ordered. He pulled Drew away and watched Dr. Miller examine Robert Mathews. "Can you give him something for pain?" Guy asked Dr. Miller.
Dr. Linda Miller never expected to treat a gunshot wound on the academy grounds, but quickly cut away Robbie's sweat outfit to look for other wounds. "I can give him a small dose of Demerol to take the edge off the pain," She said to Guy Stephens. "He doesn't have any allergies listed on his medical records, but I'll only give him 5 cc's."
Drew watched while the medical team applied pressure bandages to Robbie's butt. He saw Dr. Miller inject the painkiller in Robbie's body and hoped that it would work fast. He was shaking in fear when he saw Robbie's body tense up and then start convulsing.
"HE'S ALLERGIC!" Dr. Miller screamed. "GET ME THE TRICONOL!"
Marty Wade was a trained paramedic and was assisting his boss, Dr. Miller, in treating the injured plebe. He watched Robbie's body tense up and then collapse. "WE'VE LOST HIM!" he announced to Dr. Miller when he didn't find a pulse on the injured boy.
"CPR NOW!" Dr. Miller ordered.
Drew screamed! He struggled with Guy Stephens and wanted to get to Robbie.
"GET HIM OUTTA HERE!" Marty Wade ordered to Guy Stephens.
Guy Stephens tried to restrain his quarterback, but realized that the strong athlete was hysterical. He did the only thing that he could do. He doubled up his fist and slammed it into Drew's jaw, knocking the cadet unconscious. "Take care of him!" Guy ordered Cadets Philips, Jackson and Kosmanski.
"His airway's closed!" Judy Pearce yelled to Dr. Miller.
"GET THE THOMPSON AIRWAY!" Dr. Miller ordered Judy. She injected Robbie with the Triconol and prayed that the medication would neutralize the Demerol. She knew from her training that an allergic reaction to Demerol could paralyze a patient's body and result in strangulation when the lungs and heart stopped working.
Guy Stephens watched the medical team working on Robbie and prayed that the young man would survive. His mind was taken back to his Navy SEAL missions where team members had been wounded or killed. He tried to calm down the cadets and help them control Andrew Anderson.
Marty was forcing oxygen through the Thompson airway after Dr. Miller had inserted it in Robbie's throat. Judy was performing CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) to keep Robbie's heart circulating blood, and the whole medical team was afraid that the young boy would die.
Drew regained consciousness and struggled to get up off the ground. His cadet buddies held him down and shared in his fear that Robbie was dead.
Marty was thrilled when he felt Robbie's body move. He helped restrain the young plebe and watched Dr. Miller inject more Triconol into the boy.
"HE'S BACK!" Marty announced excitedly. "I'm getting a pulse and he's trying to breathe on his own!"
"Stephens, get that chopper down here!" Dr. Miller ordered. "Alert Bay Med that we're transporting a gunshot victim in toxic shock!"
Marty ran to the ambulance and found the emergency flares. He lit a smoke flare that would let the helicopter find the location to land.
Drew tried to get into the helicopter with Robbie, but Guy Stephens held him back.
"Only blood relatives are allowed," Guy said to Drew. "Dr. Miller's going with him, and I'll take you to the hospital when we get things settled here." Guy hugged Drew and tried to convince him that Robbie was going to be okay, but he had concerns of his own after seeing the boy react severely to the Demerol.
Guy and the four cadets watched the helicopter leave before running to the security forces standing in the woods. The cadets ran up to their little brothers and hugged them and cried.
"It's that fucker, Cataline!" Tracker said to Guy Stephens and the cadets. He motioned towards the body on the ground where sheriff deputies were taking pictures and processing the crime scene. He had to be restrained from attacking the body on the ground.
Guy Stephens was shocked that a former cadet had been able to get on the campus undetected. He saw Vincent Brown arrive and quickly told his boss the identity of the attacker.
"OH MY GOD!" Chancellor Brown when he saw the dead body of Lawrence Cataline. He knew that he would have to call his friend, General Lawrence Cataline, to tell him that his only son was dead.
"We don't see a weapon," the sheriff deputy announced. "Are you sure that he fired any shots?"
"His weapon's tangled in the branches," John Zachary said while pointing up inside the oak tree. The weapon was carefully removed from the branches to preserve the fingerprints.
Drew looked at the dead body of Larry Cataline and struggled with Guy Stephens. He wanted to kick the body and mutilate Larry for shooting Robbie!
The helicopter pilot used his radio to contact Bay Medical Center. "Bay Med we're in transit with a gunshot victim," the pilot announced. "Stand by for STATS on the patient."
Dr. Linda Miller used the radio to describe her patient. "This is Dr. Linda Miller, and the victim is Robert David Mathews, age 15, height 5 feet 8 inches, approximate weight, 150 pounds, blood type O Positive," she began. "The patient has a gunshot wound to his buttocks with no exit wound. Patient had an allergic reaction to Demerol, and we'll need a toxicology screen for any other allergies."
"ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) is ten minutes," the helicopter pilot announced.
Robert David Mathews remained unconscious for several hours. His brief time at the academy had turned to disaster.
"All security forces, Stand Down!" Colin Williams announced to his men using the radio system. "Code Red is cancelled!"
Across the campus, the "all clear" sirens sounded. The cadets and faculty members streamed out of the basement shelters and into the fresh air. Everyone wanted to know what had happened, and rumors flew across the campus.
Vincent Brown knew that he had important phone calls to make before addressing everyone on campus. His first phone call was to Barry Howell, Chief Counsel for the academy. Barry was an experienced attorney, and quickly organized his team of lawyers to be present during any questioning by the Sheriff's CSI Team.
Mike Edwards walked into the Chancellor's office and heard the last part of a very difficult phone conversation. He poured his boss a large glass of scotch and waited for the call to end.
"God, I hated that call," Vincent Brown admitted while taking a large drink from the glass offered by his friend and subordinate. "General Cataline's devastated! He refuses to believe that his only son attacked us. Barry Howell will earn his money before this is over!"
"Has anyone contacted the parents of Robert Mathews?" Mike Edwards asked his boss.
"Derrick Harmon's doing that right now," Vince replied. "Plebe Mathews was legally dead when he was being treated at the Snake Pit. Dr. Miller and her crew got him back and stabilized before the airlift, but we might have another lawsuit from the Mathews family. He could have a relapse and die, but we have to trust the medical team at the hospital."
Derrick Harmon dialed the home phone number for his friend and SEAL trainer, David Mathews. He hoped that David would answer and not Marie. He had bad news for his buddy and tried to plan his words carefully.
"Hello" David Mathews said. He was in his office and Marie had just walked in with a hot cup of coffee for him.
"David, this is Derrick Harmon," Derrick began. "I've got some bad news. We had an armed attack on campus today and Robbie's been shot."
"ROBBIE'S BEEN SHOT? OH MY GOD! IS HE ALIVE?" David demanded to know everything.
Derrick tried to compose himself to explain the events, but hearing Marie screaming and sobbing in the background made it very difficult. He heard Marie pick up another phone, screaming in fear for what she had heard David repeat. He had trouble speaking with the screams of Marie and heard David order his wife to hang up the phone. He finally was able to tell David what he knew of the attack and that Robbie was taken to Bay County Medical Center in Traverse City.
David tried to remain calm, but hearing that his boy had been shot and had nearly died of toxic shock, terrified him. He told Derrick that he and Marie would ask a friend to fly them to the airport in Traverse City, and asked for someone to meet them and take them to the hospital.
Vincent Brown walked into the Amphitheatre and faced the plebes, cadets, and faculty members. Normally he would be facing a sea of happy faces, but the grapevine had spread terrible news across the campus.
"I'm very sad to inform all of you that we were attacked today," the Chancellor began. "An intruder entered our campus and fired gunshots at members of our family. I know that rumors have been circulating, and I want to set the record straight. Former cadet Lawrence Cataline fired a deer rifle at four plebes at the starting point of the Snake Pit challenge and then turned his weapon on Cadets Anderson, Philips, Jackson, Kosmanski and Mr. Stephens. Plebe Robert Mathews was wounded in the buttocks when he risked his life to warn the cadets and Mr. Stephens. During medical treatment, Plebe Mathews had a severe reaction to a small dose of Demerol, a common pain medication, and was legally dead. The quick reactions by our medical team brought Plebe Mathews back to life, and he's been transported by helicopter to Bay Medical Center in Traverse City. His condition is listed as critical, and we hope that the doctors can stabilize him before they surgically remove the bullet."
Vince paused when he heard the gasps and sobs of the young men seated in the Amphitheatre. He knew that it was terrible news for them to process.
"I'm telling all of you the truth," Vince continued. "Our security forces under the directions of Chief Colin Williams responded to the Code Red alert from Mr. Stephens, and came under hostile fire. Lawrence Cataline was killed during the firefight. We have a Crime Scene Investigation team on our campus processing the area of the attack. The news media monitor police calls and are now demanding access to our campus to air live news broadcasts. Mr. Michael Edwards is our Personnel Director, and he's the only person authorized to speak to the media. I'm giving everyone on this campus a direct order. YOU ARE NOT TO SPEAK TO THE MEDIA! Any person who violates this order will be removed from the campus and will NEVER return! When the news hits the radio and television stations, your friends and family members will be calling you to make sure you're okay. You have permission to calm their fears for your personal safety, but you CANNOT give them the details that I've just described! Do you understand?"
"YES, SIR!" was the unanimous reply.
"We're all concerned about the condition of Plebe Mathews," Chancellor Brown continued softly. "I'd like us to bow our heads and share a minute of silence while we pray in our own ways for the recovery of Robert David Mathews."
During the period of silence, sobs were heard throughout the Amphitheatre. Vince continued by saying, "When we get information about Robbie's condition, you'll be notified. All cadets and plebes are confined to their quarters, except for chow times. This is a horrible event for our brotherhood, and we have to stick together. Please don't disappoint me!"
The cadets and plebes left the Amphitheatre in a state of shock. Many of the rumors they heard were true!
Reporters tried to interview the cadets and were frustrated by the polite, but sharp refusals. They were forced to broadcast the formal interview with the Personnel Director that only gave sketchy information devoid of the names of the people involved. Michael Edwards was professional in refusing to answer pointed questions about the events, and said, "The Bay County Sheriff's Department will provide more information when their investigation's complete".
It was less than three hours after the tragic phone call when David and Marie Mathews rushed into the Trauma Center at Bay Med. They met Guy Stephens, Andrew Anderson, and other academy officials and waited for information about their boy.
Robbie was disoriented when he regained consciousness after surgery to remove the bullet. He thought he was dreaming when he heard his aunt's voice. He was weak and his entire body ached, but he asked for Drew. It was a tearful reunion when Andrew Anderson and Robert Mathews were together again.
David and Marie Mathews talked to Dr. Linda Miller and heard her prognosis that Robbie would make a complete recovery. He'd have trouble walking until his muscles healed and the scar tissue was stretched, but his body was responding positively to being flushed to remove the final traces of Demerol.
"We still don't know how Larry Cataline got on the campus," Guy said to the group in Robbie's room. "The perimeter's guarded and monitored with security cameras 24 hours a day."
"I think I know," Drew admitted while holding Robbie's hand.
Guy Stephens listened in shock to Drew's description of a tunnel that began in the shrubs behind Washington Hall and ended up in the shrubs on the outside of the perimeter fence.
"Who dug the tunnel?" Guy asked.
"I really don't know, but it was there before I was a plebe," Drew replied. "Cadets have been sneaking out of the academy to go to town to get things they need that aren't available on campus."
"I'm afraid to ask what that might mean," Guy admitted.
"When I was at the academy we patterned the guard routes and jumped the fence," David Mathews admitted. "Cigarettes, booze and sex were the reasons then, and I'll bet things haven't changed."
Robbie was shocked to learn something new about his uncle. He always believed that his uncle was "squeaky clean" but this information proved that his uncle was a renegade cadet. He was surprised that Drew knew about a way to leave the campus and that his big brother hadn't shared the information with him.
Guy Stephens took a deep breath and used his cell phone to call Colin Williams at the academy. The tunnel would be located and filled in immediately.
It was a happy day when Robbie was released from the hospital to return to the academy. David Mathews knew the close bond between big and little brothers at the academy, and invited Drew to help get Robbie back on campus.
When they arrived at the front gate, they were shocked to see the driveway lined with cadets and plebes in their dress white uniforms.
Robbie choked up when he saw the young men holding "Welcome Home Robbie" signs and cheering and waving to him. The lines of the handsome men continued all the way to the front door of the Jefferson Dormitory.
"I can't get up the steps to the third floor," Robbie admitted softly to Drew.
"You and I have a temporary room on the first floor," Drew said while helping Robbie out of the car. He was pleased that the cadets had welcomed Robbie home and saw the entire administration standing at the front of their dorm.
Robbie used crutches to walk up to Chancellor Brown in his Army uniform and tried to balance himself to salute to the General. He nearly fell, but was quickly caught by Drew and Uncle Dave.
"Welcome Home Plebe Mathews!" General Brown said while saluting Robbie. "If Cadet Anderson can get your dressed in your whites, we have an important meeting in the Amphitheatre."
Robbie had asked Drew about Hell Week and wondered if he would have to start over. He knew it would be weeks before he could run and do exercises. Drew had been evasive, and Robbie was pissed at him. He followed Drew into the dorm building and into the two-man room closest to the front door. He saw that all of his gear was in the room and he was shocked.
"What's going on?" Robbie asked Drew.
"Let's get you dressed and find out," Drew replied. "I'd tell you to get the lead out of your ass, but the doctors pulled it out four days ago!" he teased.
"Very funny, asshole!" Robbie exclaimed. He had to admit that it was a funny thing to say after having a bullet removed from the left cheek of his butt. The bullet had penetrated his right buttock and exited before it lodged in the left cheek of his muscular bottom.
"We normally don't have visitors during our ceremonies, but we'd like to invite you and your wife to this one," Vincent Brown said to David Mathews. "We usually have the promotion ceremony the day after Hell Week ends, but the cadets demanded that we wait until Robbie was here."
"Robbie didn't finish the swamp test," David said. "He's worried that he's gonna have to start Hell Week all over again."
"Robbie saved my life and Drew Anderson's," Guy Stephens said. "He took a bullet that would have hit one of us in the chest. The cadets are unanimous in the opinion that the four plebes proved their mettle during a situation more intense than any obstacle course. Today, they'll all get their first stripes and become Cadets Fourth Class!"
"I think we should say goodbye to Robbie and let him get back to normal life at the academy," David Mathews said to Vincent Brown. "I know that you heard that some lawyers were pestering us at the hospital to file a lawsuit against the academy. Marie and I don't like lawyers, and we're not gonna feed those bloodsuckers! We just want Robbie to be safe and happy. We told those jerks to get screwed!"
Vincent Brown was pleased. Guy Stephens and Derrick Harmon had assured him that David Mathews was an honorable man and wouldn't sue the academy that launched his military career. Both men were right about the famous Navy SEAL!
Drew was just starting to help Robbie into his white uniform when David and Marie Mathews walked into the room. He offered to leave and let them talk to Robbie in private, but Robbie insisted that he stay.
It was a tearful parting for Marie Mathews. She was worried about Robbie and wanted him to return to Detroit and attend public high school. She caved in after listening to Robbie get very upset and declare that he'd run away from home if he was forced to live in Detroit. David and Marie Mathews left their boy at the academy and headed for the airport.
"Let's go, plebe," Drew said after getting Robbie dressed. He had to admit that Robbie looked great in the uniform and couldn't wait to hand him the first stripes for the sleeves.
Robbie was very emotional when he was at the Amphitheatre and listened to Chancellor Brown announce the graduation of all of the remaining plebes to Cadet Fourth Class. He was using his crutches to stand in the line of plebes when Drew handed him his stripes. He broke down and cried tears of joy.
Drew hugged Robbie and felt the tears flowing down his own face. The past few days had taught him a lot about friendship and how a man could lose his best friend in combat. He knew that he couldn't face that type of situation again, and was now committed to attending college if he could get a football scholarship. He loved the academy life, but he would never enlist in the military service.
When all of the new cadets had their first stripes, the Amphitheatre erupted with the sounds of happy cadets celebrating the graduation of the plebe class. Everyone was given free time for the rest of the day, and the soft drink machines were opened for everyone. Robbie and Drew were celebrating at the vending machine when Guy Stephens asked to talk to them in private.
"I never really thanked you for taking that bullet for me," Guy admitted to Robbie, shaking his hand. "You risked your life to protect me and Drew. That bullet would have hit one of us in the chest, and your actions saved our lives! It's the ultimate sacrifice for a man to do that, and I salute you!"
Drew realized that he had never thanked Robbie in the same manner. He was embarrassed, but thanked Robbie, wishing that he had done it before.
"Tracker's the one to thank," Robbie said to Drew and Guy Stephens. "He sensed the danger and even knew where Cataline was hiding. If he hadn't alerted us, we all might be dead."
"I'll get an electric cart and take you two back to the dorm," Guy said. "I know you want to stay and celebrate, but Robbie just got out of the hospital and needs to rest."
When the two guys were back in their room, Drew asked Robbie if he wanted anything. He was surprised when Robbie asked him to close the door and lock it.
"It's been so long since I had a kiss from you that I'm going crazy!" Robbie admitted after he heard the door lock.
Drew sat next to Robbie on his bed and leaned over to kiss his little brother. At first the kiss was gentle, but when he felt Robbie's tongue probing at his lips, everything changed. The two guys fell back on the bed and continued French kissing for several minutes.
Robbie broke the kiss and looked at his handsome friend before saying, "I need to suck your dick! Every time you visited me in the hospital, I boned up and wanted to grab your dick and suck it dry!"
"I saw your chubby when you were in the hospital bed!" Drew admitted. "I've got so much cum inside me that I'll probably blow your head off when I shoot!"
"Cut the crap and feed me!" Robbie demanded. When he saw Drew's massive cock pop out of the white uniform, he tried to move to suck it. He moaned in pain and realized that Drew would have to deliver the cock to his hungry mouth. He was pleased when he could finally wrap his lips around the head of Drew's cock and enjoy the texture and flavor of the hard meat. It seemed like it had been an eternity since he had sucked Drew's cock at the lake. He swirled his tongue across the head of Drew's cock and lapped at the sensitive underside. He balanced his body with one hand on the bed and the other that was holding Drew's cock. Precum was now flowing freely out of Drew's member, and Robbie was in heaven. He took his mouth away from Drew's throbbing meat and used his hand to force the precum up the shaft and out of the slit. He smeared the precum around the head before licking his finger and then licking the head clean. He repeated the motions several times before Drew announced that he was close to cumming.
Drew tried to stifle his moans of pleasure when he felt his cock erupt in Robbie's mouth. Keith Philips and Tracker Whitestone had left the celebration to check on Robbie and Drew, and were outside the door to the room when they heard Drew moaning and begging Robbie to keep sucking his dick. The two guys laughed and decided to let their buddies enjoy some personal R & R.
Robbie was savoring the flavor of Drew's thick cum and knew he was addicted to sucking the handsome guy. He felt Drew's cock soften in his mouth and squeezed out the last few drops. He held the fresh cum in his mouth and used his tongue to push it into Drew's mouth when they kissed. His own cock was painfully hard and he hoped that Drew would return the oral favors.
Drew opened Robbie's pants and pulled out his hard cock. He quickly swallowed Robbie's cock and began sucking. He was still amazed that Robbie's cock was so long and thick. The moans of his buddy encouraged him to deep throat the 7-1/2 inches and display his oral talents. He rotated his head and flexed his throat muscles to provide stimulation completely different from normal masturbation. He fondled Robbie's balls and pulled them down to delay his orgasm, wanting to prolong their intimacy.
Robbie was lying on his side while Drew sucked his cock. The pain in his buttocks caused him to groan, but he didn't want to change positions until after he had blasted a pent-up supply of male elixir into Drew's mouth. He knew that Drew was prolonging the blowjob by pulling down on his balls, and finally begged his buddy to let him cum.
Drew released Robbie's balls and felt the cock enlarge and begin throbbing. His fingers were at the base of Robbie's cock when he felt the first pulses that alerted him to the impending orgasm. He felt the first blast go directly down his throat and pulled back to hold Robbie's cockhead in his mouth so he could taste the thick liquid. He stroked Robbie's cock with his hand and gulped down the baby pudding. He loved the unique flavor of Robbie's seminal fluid and wished that the supply were unlimited. He was pleasantly surprised that Robbie had initiated the sexual activity and hoped that they would take advantage of their privacy every day.
Robbie pulled his softening cock out of Drew's mouth and re-positioned his body on the bed. He groaned and painfully rolled onto his stomach.
"Can I do anything to make you more comfortable?" Drew asked softly.
"You just did that by blowing me," Robbie giggled. "Whose room is this?"
"David Benson and Tyler Mason offered their room to us," Drew replied. "When you're able to get up to the third floor, we'll go back to our regular rooms. They're great guys for moving out until you heal up."
"I could use the elevator," Robbie admitted.
"You know that cadets aren't supposed to use the elevators," Drew said. "Even if you got up there with the elevator, you'd have a long walk to the end of the hall to get in your dorm room. Tomorrow you'll start the physical therapy while the other cadets are in Phys Ed (Physical Education).
Everyone wants you to recover and get back to normal."
"Will you help me undress?" Robbie asked. "Our uniforms are getting wrinkled and I'm really tired."
Drew helped Robbie undress and then took him to the head across the hall. When Robbie's ablutions were finished, he helped his buddy get into bed. He was removing his own uniform when he noticed that Robbie was already asleep.
He walked over to Robbie's bed and kissed him on the cheek before covering him with a sheet. He sat at the desk and carefully sewed the new stripes on Robbie's uniforms.
The physical therapy was painful for Robbie. Dr. Linda Miller knew what exercises would break down the scar tissue and allow Robbie to recover from the bullet wounds. She frequently talked with Robbie and Eric Hart, the physical therapist.
"You're doing great," Eric said to Robbie during a status meeting with Dr. Miller. "I know it's painful for you to stand or walk, but tomorrow we'll start on the Nautilus equipment."
Robbie groaned at the thought of being on the machines, but knew he wanted to return to normal activities with his cadet buddies. Football practices had already begun, and he hoped that he'd still have a chance to tryout for the team. He left the meeting and slowly walked back to the Jefferson Dorm.
He still had the crutches but only used them if he stumbled or was in severe pain.
Guy Stephens looked out the window of his office and smiled. He watched Robert Mathews limping down the sidewalk and knew the young cadet was working hard to recover from his injuries. Justin Chambers and Drew Anderson had told him that Robbie would be a great wide receiver, and he hoped the cadet would heal quickly.
When Drew got back to the dorm, he saw Robbie folding the laundry for David Benson and Tyler Mason. He helped Robbie finish the work and filled the two laundry baskets to deliver the clothes to the two cadets. He knew that Robbie was shining the dress shoes for the two cadets who'd temporarily given up their room, along with ironing uniforms and polishing brass for them. He was proud of his little brother.
It was two weeks from the day of his release from the hospital when Robbie made it to the top of the stairs in the Jefferson Dorm. He was soaked in sweat and leaned against the railing to catch his breath and fight back the pain from the difficult climb.
"Robbie!" Tracker yelled when he saw his buddy. "You shouldn't be taking the steps without someone with you! Let me help you get to the bench!"
Robbie painfully sat on the bench at the top of the stairway and tried to relax. He was pushing his body to recover from his injuries and was concerned about how he would get back to his temporary room on the first floor. He rested for a few minutes and talked to Tracker before asking his buddy to help him get up. He slowly walked down the hall to his original dorm room and was greeted by his former roommates. He looked around the room and saw that posters and pictures had been added to the walls. Plebes weren't allowed to display any decorations, but now that he and his buddies had passed Hell Week, the decorations were allowed. He missed the contact with his classmates, and knew that he was inconveniencing Drew, David and Tyler.
When it was chow time, Robbie asked Tracker and Tom Holden to help him get down the steps. When he was climbing up the steps, it was painful but he wasn't afraid of falling. Going down the steps was a different matter. He made it to the first floor and into the Mess Hall without any injury and was pleased. He ate with his classmates and knew that his physical therapy was paying dividends.
