Chase Stone's Point of View
My name is Chase Stone and I am one strange person, at least that's what my family tells me all the time. I am twenty two years old and roughly 6'2 -220 pounds and love the gym, when I can be alone. I have blonde hair and bright blue eyes and a small golden hoop through my left earlobe. I have always been different all of my life from being gay to having some psychic power; I can hear other people's most personal thoughts and innermost secrets. It can help in some situations and in others, it sucks! Like at Christmas, knowing all your gifts is a real downer! But it has helped out in good ways like my job; I am psychic detective for the L.A.P.D (Los Angeles Police Department). My job for them is to hold an item of a victim or criminal and attaché myself to his/her thoughts and sometimes get a mental picture of what the criminal looks like. I have been doing this for the last three years and have been making a killing and I am starting to become famous. Of course though with fame comes risk.
This last time in the office was different though, I was repelled by the criminal almost as soon as I got in, and I was stunned and shocked. No one has ever been able to reject my probe before; especially with me holding what the police thought was his underwear that he took off before raping the victim. Such a personal item should have connected me to him instantly, but this guy was no normal criminal. He was a psychic like me if not stronger. What I had pulled from his memories, the brief time I was there, was the fact he had done this before and he was going to do it again. I was not able to get who he was or who his next victim was going to be, but I knew deep down it was going to be bad, really bad. This man scared me to the core; he was capable of evil things like no other. I had to help catch him at any cost before he can take another life.
At the same time I needed to get my own love life in order. How do you tell an ex that you still love him even though he cheated on you? My boyfriend Dillon and I have just recently split up after three years of being together. I was working late and then hit the gym to work out, only to go home and find him in bed with my best friend. How could he do that to me? After all we have been through and the years of growing up with each other he decides to throw it all away for the fucking best friend. Sad part is, I can't get over Dillon and I want to be with him again, but who's to say he won't go out and do it again. How do you trust someone that has cheated on you? Well as the old saying goes, he made his bed now he has to lay in it.
Dillon Taylor's Point Of View
What a `sucky' year this has been, first my boyfriend and I break up because he thinks I was cheating on him, second his parents and mine blame me for the whole thing and third no one I talk to will listen to my side of the story and third I lost my job because I could not focus on it. Once that horrible word "cheater" is used about you there is no escaping it, no matter how much you apologize. No one asked why I felt like I had to cheat on Chase or why I chose our best friend Steve to cheat with or should I say he chose me to rape. No one would listen when I said he slipped me a drug and that I hated it. They only believed I wanted him to fuck me.
I love Chase and I need him back with me; I have to set things right with his parents. Maybe if they would forgive me, I could get Chase to forgive me. I should give them a call and see if I can come over and talk. I look up at the clock and it says 2:45 and I know Mrs. Stone should be home. I pick up the phone and dial their number only to get an angry Mrs. Stone, she was still furious with me. I was lucky to get a word in at all.
"Listen here Dillon, my family is so mad at you for everything you have put Chase through, how could you even think about cheating on him? YOU are one of the few people who know about his powers and treated him like a human. Was your love for him only an act?" That question stung, a lot, but I decided to go ahead and answer her and see if I could talk some sense into this domineering woman. I was hoping she would still be the mom that she always was to me.
"Mrs. Stone please listen to me, It wasn't voluntary, Steve slipped something into my drink earlier in the night and helped me back to the house. I was defenseless against him, PLEASE Mrs. Stone?" All I heard was little humming, she was definitely thinking over what I said. That though, did not help my nerves any. Maria Stone was a strict lady and scary one, you don't mess with her; she can crush just about anyone. She is five-five and 140 pounds of pure firecracker. You look up the words "go getter" in the dictionary and there is a picture of her there.
"Okay, we need to talk about this more and see if Dr. Stone and I believe you. Come on over at four to our house for some tea and snacks and my husband should be here. This better be the truth Dillon because if it is not you will regret it. I will crush you like a bug. Do you understand?
GULP! "Y-Y-Y-Y-Yes M-M-MAM" was my only reply to her. All the time I have known her she still scares the hell out of me. Phrases like "crush you like a bug or I will destroy you," don't help that fear. After that we hung up and I hopped into the shower and got ready to go. I slipped on my nice tan pants and a blue dress shirt with a tie. I wanted to show the Stones I was all business and gain back their trust. Even if they don't want me with their son I am hoping they will still be the parents that I desperately needed and wanted all of my life. Soon as that clock struck 3:45 I was out the door and on my way to the Stone's Mansion and the fate that awaited me there.
Chase Stone's Point Of View
I had just arrived at home after working out and getting something to eat. I had a gut feeling something bad was going to happen. It seemed like there was a second person with me all day since I attempted to probe the criminal earlier. That is such a creepy feeling to have, especially when you know the other person may be some lunatic. I decided that I should call my mom and dad and see what they were up to and how they were doing and then see what's up and maybe call Dillon. I am not sure I am ready to talk about the incident or forgive him yet. Just as I was picking up the phone there was a knock on the door.
"Hello Officer Mavry, how can I help you?" I said as I opened the door. I knew if Kevin Mavry was at my door that it meant trouble. I looked into his eyes and saw great sadness and anger.
"Chase I have some bad news for you, earlier today we received a call from a neighbor of your parent's that someone odd was around the house. When we arrived we weren't ready for what we saw. I am sorry to say this Chase, but both of your parents were murdered."
"NOOO" I yelled out loud, furious, angry, sad and heartbroken, who would murder a doctor and his wife. Who would hate my parents enough to kill them? I was lost in my thoughts of people and revenge until Officer Mavry spoke again.
"Chase there is something else, we have determined two things. First that we arrested a Mr. Dillon Lyle as a suspect, he was the last one who was at the scene. Witnesses have him there at four and leaving at five thirty. Second the only thing taken from the house was the wedding rings they had on their hands. From what our witness had said, they treasured those and would never give them away. I am sorry for your loss Chase and we will do our best to find the murderer and bring him or her to justice. "
I started to cry and think about what he said, Dillon, my Dillon, killed my parents and stole their wedding rings. He had also said bring the murderer to justice and not Dillon. Does that mean he didn't think Dillon did it or they didn't have enough proof to prosecute him? Officer Mavry came over and hugged me and showed me support no other officer would have. He was like an older brother to me. I looked up at him and stared into his eyes. I always thought he should have been a model instead of an officer.
"Kevin, how soon can I talk to Dillon?" I asked him with the sadness in my voice. I knew that if I saw him that I would be able to probe his mind with ease. Dillon's emotions, feelings and ideas have always been like an open book to me. I guess that comes with the territory of being friends and lovers. I wanted answers and I was going to get them with or without the police's help.
"Not until tomorrow my friend, by the way even if you probe his mind the police cannot accept your help in this case on the grounds you were related to the victims. I am sorry Chase but unless we find proof to discredit Dillon's guilt and prove he is innocent we will have to take it all the way to a trial. Right now they don't have enough to prosecute him and its going to take some time before they can."
I was shocked, even if my probe of him found him guilty I could do nothing, I decided on the spot I had to go and see him and learn the truth. I was struggling with the idea of Dillon as a killer and a thief. I knew he was close to my mom and feared her, how he could kill someone who was a second mother to him. One way or another, my parent's will be revenged.
Dillon Taylor's Point Of View
Once I arrived at the Stone's mansion, I went around to the window and went in like I did when I was in high school. Just doing that brought memories rushing back to me. Once inside I saw Larry's the butler's face smiling and shaking his head at me. Chase, Larry and I would get into all sorts of trouble when we were growing up, he was a blast when he was the babysitter. He signaled for me to follow him and I did, he led me to the sitting room for tea and snacks with the Stones.
Chase and I use to call this room the dungeon as we were usually brought into the room to receive a lecture or to talk about what we did and why we did it. Once I sat down, the Stones entered and sat. I was getting the look of "THIS BETTER BE GOOD" from both of them. Mrs. Stone was the first to break our tense stares and uncomfortable silence.
"Okay Dillon let's have it from the beginning." Her face showed nothing but disbelief and anger. Who could blame her; I had hurt her baby boy and my lover. I looked up at Dr. Stone and saw anger so fierce that I was wondering if I had made the right decision to come to their house and talk to them. I looked into Mrs. Stone's eyes and felt water on the corners of my eyes. I knew it would not be long before I broke down.
"Well earlier that night Steve had called and asked us if we felt like going out. Normally we only go out as a couple to make sure nothing happens to the other and keep each other in line. Chase said he had to do some things and for me to go ahead, so I went out with Steve to this gay bar that was just a little ways away from our apartment. I only wanted one beer and so did Steve, as you know I am not that big of a drinker since I saw what it did to my father." The Stone's just looked deep into my eyes like they were trying to tell if I was lying or not. They nodded and I continued on with my story.
"Then we were going clubbing for a little while. Once I finished that beer and was getting ready to stand Steve pushed me back into the chair and said we should have another. I looked at him with a look of warning because my anger was flaring up a little. He got up and went to the bar and came back with two beers and we chugged those down. But after we finished my throat was really dry and I was going to get a glass of water to dampen it. I had just stood up but couldn't really stand straight up and fall back down into my chair.
Steve said he would get it but he came back with a juice and alcohol drink that was kind of misty. I was cautious of it because he knew I wanted some water but yet I got this drink. He said it was a special drink to help my throat, so I drank it and started to feel dizzy. Steve and I decided to leave the club at that time and I had a hard time walking. My limbs felt like they weighed 300 pounds each and I had hard time breathing. My mind felt like it was in a fog and all I could hear was a voice saying he would take me home. I do remember a voice asking "He's already had too much to drink" and a soft chuckle.
I remember Steve helping me into his car and taking me into the apartment. He lead me to the bedroom and laid me down on the bed. Then he got onto the bed and laid next to me and whispered "I am going to fuck you so good bro and going to make you mine. Going to have you begging for more and more of my cock. Going to take you away from your worthless boyfriend." Then he started to run his hand all over my body. I kept trying to tell him NO but I could not get my mouth to move. Then he slowly s..s..st...str...stripped me and laid me on the bed-d-d" I managed to get out before sobbing.
Dr. Stone had a look of pure hatred and anger towards this person, not only did he hurt Chase he had hurt me. That look sent chills down my spine, I have never seen that look before and it made me fear him and fear for what he had planned. I looked at Mrs. Stone and saw a tear running down her cheek, she then motioned me to come to her. I came over to her and she wrapped her arms around my body and hugged me close to her.
"What do you think honey, any chance it was what I think it was" Mrs. Stone asked her husband. The only response was a grunt and anger filled "yes." That got his anger boiling even more than before, as a doctor he knew what messing with drugs could do to someone. Mrs. Stone's hug tightened around me and I let it all out, the feeling of being alone in the world, the pain from Steve raping me, losing Chase and the fact that I may never get him back again. I lifted my head off Mrs. Stone's shoulder and looked her then her husband.
"Y-y-you know what's worse thing about all this. I made reservations to Nourriture, our favorite restaurant. I was going to propose to Chase. I want him to be my l-l-life Partner" I sobbed out. The Stone's faces where covered in shock, but excitement as well. Both Stones hugged and comforted me the best they could, and then Mrs. Stone had a look on her face that like she had a great idea. She got up and left the room and came back with two small velvet boxes.
"I know you have a ring picked out for Chase, but could you use this for the actual ceremony" came from Mrs. Stone as she sat back down on the couch. I looked at her with questioning eyes trying to figure out what she was up to. She reached for the first velvet box and opened it and inside was a golden ring that looked very valuable and very old. "This was my grandfather's wedding band. I want you to have it as your own. It was to be passed on to the second son and even though Chase has no siblings, you are our son and always will be Dillon." That set a whole new set of water works off and hugged her and cried on her shoulder and thanked her over and over for the ring. I stepped back and smiled at her.
Then Mrs. Stone opened the second box and showed me a second ring. This one was gold and silver; it looked like it belonged in a museum. "This was my great – grandfather's wedding band, I want Chase to wear it at the ceremony. You guys deserve the best and you have our blessings." Than Dr. Stone left the room and came back with two envelopes, one had my name and the other had Chase's name. Dr. Stone came over to me and hugged me tight and slid them into my back pocket and leaned his head next to my ear. "Don't open those until tomorrow night when you two are alone. Do not go anywhere or do anything until you and him sit down and read the letters." I nodded my head and hugged him tight as I could.
I was sobbing all over again, I was so happy that I cleared things up with the Stones. Now I just had to see Chase and that would be priority number one tomorrow. I looked up at the time and saw it was 4:37 and I stood and hugged the Stones again and left. I had to go somewhere before tomorrow and see someone. Especially now that I had these two rings in my possession. I said good bye to Larry and gave him our handshake that Chase and I had created when we were younger, then climbed out the window and left.
When I arrived home after my appointment and setting everything away, I found a police car sitting in my drive way waiting for me or at least that was my guess. I got out and walked up to the officer and noticed his name was Mavry. Soon as I got close enough to Officer Mavry, I saw him reaching for his cuffs. My first instinct was to turn and run but he decided against it.
"I am sorry Mr. Taylor I have to place you under arrest for the murder of Doctor and Mrs. Stone. Please turn around and place your hands behind your back. You have the right to remain silent and anything you say can and will be used against you . . ."
I was crying, for the second time in two weeks I have been accused of something. This time though I wasn't sure I could talk my way out of it.
To be continued...
[Editor's Note: Jordy may be a "new writer" but he has already captured my interest in this story and its characters. Chase's psychic "powers" are unique but they don't seem to work for him all the time so we now wonder how he will accommodate these varying levels of their effectiveness. Dillon is once again in big trouble but this time his intended life-partner's own parents are dead! Will Chase assume that he is guilty or not? How can they retain their friendship now? Please write to our author and let him know how you would answer these questions.
