Chapter 5 - Avia and Ian
She sits up naked in bed. Her back is leaning up against the wall, and she gently places her feet on a shirtless Ace. Avia has blue eyes. Ocean blue. She's unapproachable, committed, and enigmatic.
"What's with you and that kid," she says in a husky voice.
"What kid?" Ace says with a pause.
"David....the boy you went to visit. What happened with you and his mom?"
Ace goes red. He scoffs dishonestly. "David's a freak. He...look don't tell anyone..."
Avia's eyes begin to shine brilliantly. Almost like a glass mirror. In a cavalier and sexy manner, she says "I promise Ace. You can tell me anything."
"He's gay! And he thinks I like him. That me and him are a thing. God he's such a psycho. I only showed up to support him...I'm not gay."
Avia begins to laugh. "I believe that. Why would you like someone like him? He's so weird."
She now gets up and straddles Ace.
"You're such a nice guy Ace. He's probably just confused. I heard he tried to kill himself over a year ago. Just stay away from him, okay?"
Ace's heart drops, he takes a moment to speak.
".....okay. I love you Avia, you know that right?"
"I do," she says now with satisfaction.
He walks in with anger. Total bravado. Ian's the stern type. Caring. Paternal. And always passionate.
"David! Tell me now! God damn it."
He sits on David's bed firmly. He grabs David with both arms. And shakes him.
"What happened with the three of you guys. You were in there for such a long time. I'm one of your fucking best friends. Tell me!"
"Well...my mom knows I'm gay now.." David says. He gets up to sit by Ian on the other side of the bed.
"Well good! She'll come around man. Don't worry." Ian still seemed heated even though he was trying to sound supportive.
"She just needs time David. You hold so much back no one can read you. I would have never known you were gay if you hadn't told me."
"I know." David said with guilt.
"And then what happened with the boy - Ace?"
"After my mom left crying he -- he left too. I think I've got him all wrong. I don't think he's.....like me."
"Are you fucking kidding me David. That stupid bitch left here afraid. In fact, he was crying too!"
"What?"
"Yeah. I talked to him briefly..."
"What did he say," David said now with anticipation.
"He told me to tell you he'd visit..." Ian looked down.
"He said when he's ready, he'll come back.."
David leans back down against his bed.
Ian lays back down too. "Look! You need to keep taking your medication, okay? That and going back to school regularly. You have 3 more months until the semester is over to pick up your grades."
"Do you believe in love at first sight, Ian?" David says with innocence.
Ian turns facing Ace and finally speaks softly.
"...I do."
