"You are only an hour and bit away. We have our second game of the season on Saturday afternoon. Come see him play. I'll make sure that you meet after the game. Take him for supper and tell him how much you missed him at Thanksgiving. My parents call every week. I look forward to the call. He hasn't received a call since he arrived. Look I can arrange a team ticket for you, really good seats. I'll leave it at the box off under your name. That is if you want or can do it.
"Robert, I am impressed and humbled. A great suggestion. You only mention one ticket. I guess you have guessed that family dynamics. How about I meet you at the box office after you guys change and are ready to leave? Do you want to come with us?"
"For now, just you and your son. Our team always has an after game time at the canpus pub. The team celebrating if we win or planning how to improve if we loose. It is going to be a tough game."
"Thank you Robert. A lot of guys your age, no most people of any age, would not have treated me and have talked to me as you have done today."
"We, all my family and I think that he is an amazing guy. Thanks for calling."
Oh boy, he hoped that he had done the right thing. Well, his father was making a move. First step but the mother, or as his father had said the family dynamics. He didn't dare say that it couldn't be worse. Every situation can always be worse but it can also be the first step in a positive direction. Now did he keep it as a surprise or should he forewarn him? First thought and probably the last one, surprise. The father seemed genuine. Maybe some words just seconds before they meet. Let Lucas know that the father really wanted this.
Present
A few minutes later, he heard the door handle turn and there was his guy, face shining from the outdoor temperature, cooler than the weather on the weekend. They had had great weather at Thanksgiving but this was fall in Ontario and weather could change quickly from day to day.
"You look so studious. Not that programing language again. I think at times, I have a rival there."
"Not where and when it counts. You look great, ready for the practice. It is going to be a couple of hard days, then our first game. We are in for a tough battle with that team on Saturday."
"I think that the team has started to come together. I know what my line is like. I can anticipate what the others are going to do and it does make a difference. Now if only our forwards were that organized and ready."
Robert was out of his chair in a bound and had his guy in a head lock and they ended up lying on the bed laughing.
"Pretty quick. You forwards may work out yet." Lucas leaned over and gave him a peck on the lips. "That's all. We have to be going."
He was so glad that the call had come when it did. Lucas didn't need the distraction of a meeting with his father. He was still his playful self. However, even Robert wondered what the father was going to say. He certainly sounded upset in a good way that his son had not come home for Thanksgiving.
Lucas was correct. The entire team was coming together. Robert was on one of the best lines and he suddenly realized that they were anticipating what each other was doing. The coach didn't give them a really tough first workout. He concentrated on making plays and encouraging teamwork. Robert could tell in the showers that the team was acting as a team with lots of jokes and encouraging words.
The final practice on Friday was much the same but the guys were really working with each other and it looked as if they would have to play well. Robert figured that they had a chance with the visiting team.
Robert and Lucas had their own very special celebration before they fell asleep.
Robert woke up the next morning with his arms around that big defence man. He realized how much this man had come to mean to him. Sometimes, it amazed him how strong his feelings had become for a man, especially his Lucas.
He suddenly realized that today was the day. Oh shit, he had better plan his strategy. He had arranged the ticket for Mr. Stephenson the previous day. He figured that he would ask Lucas to come with him to the entrance for something that he had to do there. He would try and hurry his guy so that he couldn't ask any questions. Then when they arrived, he would whisper that there was someone here who really wanted to see him play and to talk with him. He would stand back and disappear when father and son met.
The energy level and the anticipation level could almost be felt in the dressing room. The coach had them together and he told them how impressed he was with the entire team. He specifically said that the new guys had fitted in and the team was one of the best he had had in quite a few years. He gave a few pieces of advice and they were making their way to the ice.
The team had a big following on campus and the stands were more than three quarters full. Robert took it all in and as he looked around, he saw a man about the age of his own fathers sitting in the area set aside for the players' friends and family. Lucas would never think of looking there.
The puck was dropped and the game was on. Robert knew that this team had a reputation for being very physical so he was careful but after a couple rough boardings, and elbows in the corners, he started his paybacks early. Very quickly, the opponents received his message, don't mess with number 10. The coach patted him on the back as his came in off the ice. The coach had muttered nice work Malenfant but be careful.
Their team scored just at the end of the first period. They had played about 10 minutes of the second period when Robert got a pass from Lucas. He was certain that he saw a way across the blue line and then he saw the hole and the goalie screened unable to see past a defence man. You could hear Robert's slap shot all over the arena. He saw the goal light come on, heard the cheers from the fans and then his team was all over him.
Late in the third period, Lucas made an incredible defensive move that saved a sure goal. The fight seemed to evaporate from the opposing team and when the final buzzer went, they had managed to win 2 -- 0. There was pandemonium in the locker room. The team was all over Robert and Lucas. The coach had already told them what a great game that they had played.
Robert was mentally otherwise engaged. He had to get his guy out of the showers and to the entrance of the arena. Finally as they were walking out of the dressing room, Robert turned to Lucas. "Come on this way. It will just take a second; I just have to pick something up at the entrance."
Before Lucas had a chance to say anything, Robert started to walk fast ahead of Lucas. They arrived and as Robert scanned the area, he saw the man who had been sitting in the team's area. He turned to Lucas. "Actually, there is someone here who wants to meet you. He really wanted to see you play and talk with you. I am pretty certain that he wants to take you out to eat. I'll see you later. I am going over to the pub."
He turned his guy around who by now was standing beside him. He saw Lucas scan the area. His eyes got bigger. He looked at Robert with surprise and tears in his eyes. "You set this up." He grabbed Robert and gave him a hug. Lucas started to walk towards his father and suddenly turned around. "You should come."
"Time for son and father. He really wanted to do this. He is a good man. Go big guy."
Robert heard the whole story later in bed.
Robert arrived at the pub and was surrounded by his teammates for his great goal. One of them said that the slap shot sounded like a gun going off. He had a beer forced into his hand. He took a sip and sighed, it did taste good. However, he wanted a clear head to talk to his guy later. So he took very small sips. Minutes later the coach and the coaching staff turned up. Again high praise from them for a game well played
Coach came up to Robert. "Stephenson not here? His defence work gave us a clean sheet. You two had a great game."
Robert stood up and asked coach to talk to him away from the table. "My fault he is not here. His father phoned earlier in the week and I took the call. They live slightly more than an hour from here; there have been some family problems and his father wanted to see him. I suggested that he come today and set him up with a ticket. He has gone off for supper with his father to talk. It is important Coach."
"Malenfant, thanks from the team and me for doing that for him. You know, you don't act like a lot of roommates. You seem ... hm, pretty close."
He shrugged in his matter of fact way. "We're pretty close."
Coach started to laugh. "I should have known that would be your answer. I have seen the looks between you two, especially Thanksgiving Monday. I watched some of your workouts. I'd say much closer than roommates."
Robert knew what they weren't saying directly. "Does that matter coach?"
"The only thing that matters to me is how you play hockey. I just like to know if there are any possible situations that might arise. I suspect that a couple of your teammates might disagree with me but I have your back. Damn good game you both played. Please let him know."
"Hey, what did coach want?"
In a disgusted voice, "Wanted to know where my loser roommate was. I told him that his father was in town and wanted to take him out for supper." With a big smile, "Anything to get away from you guys." Good natured hoots and boos.
About an hour later, his phone vibrated. He looked at the message. "Come now to the Swift Arrow Pub. Dad wants to meet you. Important!"
He looked around the pub and spotted Lucas. He so hoped that all had gone well with his father. As he approached the table, he could see the smile on his guy's face. A good sign.
"Dad, Robbie Malenfant."
"Young man, a real pleasure to meet you. I simply cannot thank you enough for what you have done"
"Mr. Stephenson, it was nothing."
Rolling his eyes, "I told you what his answer would be." Then the surprise. Lucas grabbed him in a hug and then looking intently at Robrert, he whispered, "I have my dad back. Thank you, thank you. You are amazing."
His father smiled at the show of affection. Had they talked? Did he know?
Robert sat down. "Did you enjoy the game?"
"I picked Lucas out immediately and I have never seen him play so well. Then I noticed a number 10." He started to smile, "I certainly heard his slap shot in the second period. I was amazed at how you were over the blue line and saw the screen shot. One of the neatest goals that I have ever seen. You guys played very well."
"Thanks sir. I have to admit that the coach said much the same." He turned to Lucas. "Oh, by the way Coach missed you at the pub and I told him why you were missing. He sends his best. I think that the words 'damn good game' were from Coach."
They chatted for a while. "Dad, it is getting late. I don't want to get rid of you but maybe you should be thinking of heading back. I don't want you in an accident."
Robert looked at the two. "You know that we are going to be playing in my home town in a few weeks. Why don't you come to the game? You could stay at my parents' home. We have lots of room and I know that they would really like to meet Lucas' dad."
"I, I couldn't impose like that."
"Actually, they would be really upset if you turned down the invitation. You have met my Papa, Timothy. Did Lucas explain my parents to you?"
"Explain? No."
"My family is a little different. My other dad is Jeremy. I think that you would really like to meet him. He is in the same line of work as you."
"Oh he is an accountant?"
"It might as well come out now. His name is Jeremy Marchese-Milner, the owner and head of The Accountants."
There was a shocked look on Mr. Stephenson's face and total silence for what seemed like forever.
"I better tell you everything. All my family will be out to the game. My Grandpa is James Milner and his husband is Philip Marchese, Head of Marchese Construction." Mr. Stephenson mouth dropped open.
"Dad, they are the most amazing family that I have ever met. At Thanksgiving, I made the dressing and stuffed the turkey with James Milner. We laughed and joked; he is the one of the best.
"I don't know what to say."
"I have a suggestion."
Chuckling, "Not the first time that I heard those words from you. So far, great suggestions."
"We really want to see you there and my parents and family will want to meet Lucas' father. Don't know what to say. Say yes."
They all broke out laughing. "OK, check with your dads and let me know. If there are no problems, YES."
They finally stood up. "Lucas has told me about his time at the chalet. He said he learned a lot. He told me about the welcome he received." Mr. Stephenson reached over and pulled Robert into a huge hug. "Our family doesn't usually do this but it felt so good from my son." Quietly in Robert's ear, "Please take good care of him. I know how important you are to each other. We had a long talk."
"Thanks sir. He is very special to me and to all my family. You'll meet Momma; she loves him. She welcomed him to our family in her own special way."
They were at the car. Big hugs goodbye. Robert could see the look of pleasure on Mr. Stephenson who had told to call him Dad. He guessed that sometimes, you got things right. He felt Lucas' arms over his shoulder as they were waving goodbye to his father. When the car disappeared down the street, Robert felt Lucas move. There were tears in Lucas' eyes and lips on Robert's lips. They lost themselves in each other for a few seconds.
Chuckling they disengaged but not before Lucas muttered, "Wait 'til we get home. I have so much to tell you."
They walked down the street and didn't see the person on the other side of the street who had witnessed it all. Could trouble be brewing? If so, at least, not tonight.
They weren't in their room for more than a few seconds when Lucas had Robert on the bed with Lucas lying on top of him. When they came up for breath from the kisses, Lucas knelt between his legs and looked down at Robert.
"How did you keep that secret for all those days and why?"
"I made a decision and kept to it. You didn't need the distraction of knowing that your father was coming to see you. Even I wondered at times what was going to happen but I liked the tone of your father's voice and his sincerity. I took the chance. You were focused on what was important, your studies and the game today. I watched you a couple of times today. You were on fire. Coach was impressed."
"I am on fire now but for something else. Damn, I saw you skate down the ice after my pass. Graceful, strong, magnificent. Then when you came into the pub, I saw you. Your face shone. Your sweater moulded to your body. The pants hugging your beautiful ass. Then what you said to my father. How you handled it and what you did for him. The whole package."
Lucas undid his own shirt and was soon bare chested. Then he did the same to Robert. Lucas' hands were all over Robert's chest and nipples. He licked each one very delicately which set Robert off with noise in his throat and incoherent mumblings. He licked down to his navel and then down where there was a hint of a treasure trail. It was the treasure that he wanted. The pants were undone and the shorts pulled over the very hard cock. It already had the first bit of precum. That disappeared quickly causing more moans from Robert.
Quickly, Lucas' pants and shorts were off and Robert was staring at the magnificent cock. He loved the way it stood up away from his body, thick, red, with lovely veins highlighted and the head with its little bit of pearly liquid. He used his finger to capture it and put the fingers in his mouth and savoured his guy's taste.
Robert could see that his guy was on fire and so was he. Robert knew what he wanted. He wanted that big, hard, straining object in him and he wanted to be taken hard. There were still times when he could almost not believe how quickly this had happened and how much he enjoyed this man's body and how much he enjoyed their time in bed. He managed to get Lucas off him and on his back. He took that straining head of his cock into his mouth so that just the head was surrounded by his lips. He had learned that Lucas loved to be sucked and have his tongue just lightly tease the head.
But tonight Robert had decided to try something that he had read about. He went down as far as he could and then backed off as his gag reflex started. Lucas was almost crying in pleasure. Robert then went down a little bit more past the reflex and each time after he came up, he went a bit further until he could go no farther. He heard the words 'oh shit' several times. They were even louder when he put a finger in him.
He came off him and smiled at him." Now I am going to tell you how this is going to go. Yes this is the bossy me." He stood up and pulled Lucas up. "I am going to go over against the cupboard mirror. I am going to get you wet and then you are going to take me standing up. I want it fast and hard and I want your hand on me stroking me to the same rhythm as you are in me. You can edge if you want or you can just give yourself the most powerful, fast finish that you have ever had. I'll be right with you. If I push your hand away and I start stroking, I am close."
They watched as Lucas entered him. It seemed so hot to watch. Robert ordered him to not stop but to invade him, fill him with that thick, hard cock. He smiled to himself. He had never talked like that when he had sex with Anna. Sex with his guy was exciting and yet loving. As Lucas invaded him and then took him with force and power, he realized how much this guy meant to him and how wonderful it was to make love with this man.
Robert finally took over stroking himself and Lucas remembered what that meant and started to move faster and harder. Robert flexed around the invading cock and the groans of pleasure from his guy only made him do more. Suddenly, he felt Lucas put his arms around him and pull him in tight as only a man could do and felt the rhythm change. He was certain that he could feel him finishing. His own hands tightened and moved faster and suddenly with a gasp, he saw shot after shot hit and run down the mirror. Lucas almost collapsed on his back.
Robert moved so that Lucas slipped out and he turned and pulled him close. There bodies were coated in sweat. He could feel the damp wetness on his stomach from Lucas' still hard cock. "Lucas, the feelings, the closeness were experiences I have never had before. I never dared to hope that I would have them and with you, I have."
They were still holding each other when they woke the next morning. They had a very busy day. Both guys had a lot of reading and work to keep their studies up. At one point in the afternoon, Lucas looked over at Robert and saw a very interesting page on his computer. "What is that?"
"I have started my project using this new computer language to construct a web site. I am redoing Grandad Philipo's Marchese Construction web site. If I can get it the way I want to, I'll show him when we are in town for our game. It is a really interesting language. Look at the site already."
Lucas came up behind him and put his hands on his shoulders. "Ah after being on this computer for so long that feels great. Just message my shoulders. Ahhh!"
"Robbie, that site is fantastic and you are only starting it. I am certain that Philipo will really like it. Oh, look at the time. We have a practice in 20 minutes. Better go."
"Right I want to talk to coach about us driving home and staying at my parents. Save the team some money."
It was a good practice. The team was building together and were getting mentally and physically stronger every day. They talked to Coach after the game and he agreed that it would be OK to stay at his parents as long they kept their phones on and were at the practices and spent time with their teammates.
They had finished their talk with Coach and had showered and dressed. As they left the dressing room, they noticed Paul, a team member sitting on a bench by the exit. He stood up as they approached. "Can I walk with you guys? There is something that I want to talk about."
As they walked along the path back to their rooms, Paul looked at the guys. "Guys I went for a walk after the game on Saturday and I happened to be outside the Swift Arrow Pub as you guys came out with a man who you knew well. When he left, I saw the arm on the shoulder and the kiss."
The look on Lucas' and Robert's faces changed. Defences went up. Would it be attack or defend, in words of course?
Quickly Paul smiled. "Guys its OK. I am going to put myself out there as they say. I too have a friend, Brett. We did much the same thing as you did that night when I went back to his room. I have been looking for some guys who might be like minded. We could back each other up if problems arose. We would also like to be able to double date and talk to people we trust."
Lucas looked at Robert. There was a minute nod yes. Lucas had a big smile. "I hope that you had as good a night as we did when you were back at his room. Our kiss was a warm up."
Paul broke out in laughter. "Not exactly the answer I expected. Actually better. Our night was quite good. Had a lot to celebrate. How about a cheap meal out on Friday after practice. We should be with the team on Saturday, win or loose."
They parted as new friends. Robert looking at Lucas, "Life has had a lot of surprises for me lately. My biggest was you."
"For me, what you just said is almost unbelievable. I have my father back. Coach has our backs and now some friends who we can talk to. And I have you."
The next couple of days went by quickly. They were managing to somehow fit in their school work, hockey and each other. It was fun and exciting. The practice on Thursday was tough but they felt so good at the end. They woke up Friday to take on the world.
Robert had to admit that he was enjoying the accounting course. He didn't want to say anything to Lucas but he found it easier in many ways than his computing classes and the rest of his course load. He had a really good time in the lab where he was able to ask a lot of questions about the new programming language. He had the impression that he was only one who had started on the project. He realized that with a some polishing, he had something that he could show Philipo when they were in town for the hockey game.
He knew that day he would eat lunch by himself as there was a lecture on forensic accounting Lucas had to attend. The lecture was given by a lecturer highly regarded as an expert in the field. Uncle David was the lecturer and Robert intended to eat quickly and then go to the seminar room and greet him when it was over. He knew that Lucas had to be off to class immediately after the lecture.
He arrived a few minutes before the end of the lecture. He heard snippets of comments as students were leaving. He heard comments, 'really interesting, humorous, brilliant'. David came out of the lecture hall with their accounting professor.
Robert calmly walked over, "Uncle David, I hear you weren't a smart ass today."
The professor was about to react very badly when David started to laugh and then rushed to Robert and gave a big hug. God it felt good to Robert.
Lucas sauntered over. "This must be the David, missing from Thanksgiving."
"You must be Lucas. So good to meet you finally. I have heard so much. Jeremy can't stop taking about Thanksgiving." Another hug.
The professor looked as if they were all speaking a foreign language. His looks were asking what the hell was going on? Finally, David spoke up and explained it all. Their professor looked shocked. He had the nephew and his friend in his class. They talked for a minute and then David was hustled away for a luncheon with the department.
The guys said their goodbyes and walked out of the building. They agreed to meet back at their room but it would have to be quick as they only had a little over an hour to get to practice.
Robert attended a lecture and then went back to their room to work on his programming. He realized by doing the web site, he was learning the language better than he ever could by just reading about it. He was learning by reading and doing.
About 40 minutes after he arrived back there was a loud knock on their door. Robert looked at his watch. Lucas never forgot his keys and his class didn't end for another 15 minutes.
He opened the door to find a woman in her forties, well dressed, with an expensive haircut staring at him.
"Are you the Malenfant kid?"
The tone of voice was offensive as were her words. Could he smell alcohol on her breath? "Yes, I am Robert Malenfant."
"You are the deviant who is leading my son astray! I want to speak to my son about not coming home for Thanksgiving and some disgusting things as well."
"Your son is my roommate. Lucas has a fairly full day. He is at a lecture and then we have a practice at the arena soon after his lecture is finished."
As he was talking, he checked his pocket. His phone and keys were there. Luckily, he had automatically saved his work when he heard the knock on the door. He stepped outside the room and closed the door. He heard the lock click. OK, he had her out of the room. Be calm, think Robert, find a solution, the simplest if there is nothing else. His Papa's word echoed in his head.
"Mrs. Stephenson perhaps a cup of coffee or tea in the lounge downstairs. The coffee and tea are quite good and we can wait for Lucas there. It is more comfortable than our room."

I have had some feedback from some readers who were trying to read some of my previous stories. If you go to Authors on Nifty and find my name, when you try to access Surprised Eric and Dave from the Authors list, it doesn't connect to anything. Surprised Graham and Robert is just not there. If you want to read them, use the date and category, Adult-Friends or Beginnings etc. and go the appropriate category and date and they are there and active.
If you liked this story, you might want to read the others that I have published on Nifty. In particular, my first story, Unexpected Change which has had the most positive comments and one of my other favourites, What a Difference a Year Makes. I have recently reread Introspection and it is worth a read, Michael Burtchell's story is in Discoveries; its ending is a little weak but getting there is fun.
