This is the last chapter of my story, and the last portion of the chapter is actually more of a teaser for the new story, but don't look for it to be out this week. I am taking a small writing break, but the new story will surface soon enough. Enjoy!
Under your spell By Lee McDougal Chapter 9
When I woke up from my nap I found that Brody wasn't in bed with me. I looked around to find him setting at a desk that I had not noticed before. He seemed to be reading a book and scribbling notes.
"Good morning, evening, or night whatever time it is." I said and started rubbing his shoulders.
"Hey babe. I think I found the solution to getting out of this house. This book is like a journal. It explains that the house was put under a maze spell of sorts. You have to go in these directions to get out." He said showing me what he had written down.
The directions were pretty simple, but very confusing at the same time. Often times the map would call for one to turn around and go back in the door he had just gone through. However, it seemed according to the journal you could get to any part of the house or out of the house within 2 to 8 moves if you happened to know the right ones. Brody had written down only the directions out of the house, but we both agreed that taking the book with us was a good idea, just in case.
"So I think it's this door first." Brody said and we walked through it.
Much like the map suggested we found ourselves in the kitchen. I was hungry, but I wanted to be out of that house more than anything else. So as the directions suggested we went to the door to the left from there. On the other side of that door we found ourselves in an indoor gym of sorts.
"This isn't so bad. I guess vampires have to keep in shape too." I commented.
"From looking at the map there are a lot of interesting rooms. If it wasn't for the landlord, I wouldn't mind sticking around a bit." Brody said.
"Yeah, I think he'd charge a lot of rent.in blood. So we just have to go back through the way we came right?" I asked.
We made it to the lobby or at least that's what it reminded me of. It reminded me of the lobby's at hotels in the sense there was only a few chairs, a few decorations here and there, and of course what excited me most was doors that clearly lead outside.
"Are looks deceiving or is that the real way out?" I asked.
"Yes, according to the map that is in fact the way out." Brody said with a smile.
I took Brody's hand and we ran for the door. I turned the knob and of course it was locked. What's the old saying, if it's too good to be true- it probably isn't.
"Damn it! Now what do we do?" Brody asked.
"I have an idea." I used my magic to blow the door off it's hinges, but it only made a creaking noise and then nothing more.
"So the door is magic proof? I have to say the security is pretty tight around here, though most security measures are to keep people out, not in." I said frustrated.
"Maybe there's something else in the journal. Let's just relax and check it out." Brody suggested.
I got bored during my turn reading and wound up making a more detailed map instead of looking for a door opener. I also had my reasons for doing that though. I knew that if we didn't finish off David we would never be safe, and for all I knew maybe he was the one keeping the door closed. I knew he wouldn't attack with Brody with me, because no matter how much of a monster he had become he still wanted Brody with him. So it was when it was his turn to read the journal I headed off on my own much to his dismay.
"But what if David attacks you or me? We'd be stronger together." Brody said.
"I know that and so does David. He's already failed to beat us together. He won't attack unless he thinks he can win. Keep reading maybe you'll find something. I'm going back to the kitchen to get us something to eat. I'll be back soon." I said.
"You just made my argument Anthony, if we stay together he won't attack. Why fight him if we don't have to?" He asked.
"I won't fight him. If I see him I'll head back to you. Or make myself invisible. Don't worry so much." I said and kissed Brody before heading out a door that would lead me to the gym room.
I half expected Brody to follow after me, but I was still alone when I entered the door that lead to the library. We had not been in this room before, and I must say it was very impressive. There was two floors and each was filled with shelves full of books. It was also the best place to be ambushed. I counted on David to realize that. I needed him to find me, because when he thought he had me.
"There you are! Like a mouse into a trap!" David said springing on me.
"What are you that ready to have my blood fry your insides?" I asked no longer scared of him.
"I don't have to drink your blood to kill you. I will choke the very breath from you!" He said and began to put pressure on what appeared to by my neck.
"Why are you playing with that doll David?" I asked standing across the room from him.
"What?" He asked and then looked down to see it was nothing but a manikin.
"But how?" He asked.
"I have tricks you couldn't believe. Here try this one. Can you guess?" I asked as I made holograms of myself and surrounded him.
"You may can fool the eyes but I can smell you Anthony!" He said and charged towards me.
"Oh yeah, I almost forgot the heighten senses. Maybe you should smell this." Then all my holograms started spraying magical skunk gas/smoke at him.
"Where did you go?" He screamed as the smoke not only threw off his smell, but sight as well.
"I'm right here!" I said and I jumped forward and stabbed him in the heart with a wooden stake.
"Foolish man did you really believe that to work? It's a mere urban legend." He said cackling with laugher.
"It was worth a try. Maybe this will work better." I said and made a sword appear in my hand and severed his head from his body.
His body turned to dust. It seemed my old friend was finally put to rest. However apparently he had a trick or two of his own, because a moment later he had me and was choking me, and this time it was the real me.
"Good job killing me. However, in this house I can't die for good. No, as long as I'm here I will never die!" He declared as I felt the room start to fade away.
Just when I thought I had it. There was a large thud and David hit the ground. I fell with him, but Brody soon helped me up.
"How..did you find?" I asked finding it hard to talk.
"I followed you. I didn't want you to face him alone. I thought if I made myself invisible neither of you would know. I thought you had him, but I guess he can't die here. So we have to tie him up, and take him outside." He suggested.
We tied him as tightly as possible with ropes I fashioned out of metallic material. Even with his supernatural strength it would be almost impossible for him to break free.
"So if killing him isn't the way to unlock the door what is?" I asked Brody.
"I think I might know the answer to that. It will only open if a resident or owner of the house touches the door. Here look I found it while you were waiting on David." He told me and showed me the entry in the diary.
"So we can just ram his head into the door and it'll unlock?" I asked.
"That should do it!" He said with a laugh.
We carried him back though a few more rooms before arriving back at the entry room. We brushed the door with his head rather than ramming him into it, but all the same the door unlocked and we rushed out to freedom.
"Now we finish him off." I told Brody.
"I can't let you do that love. I still have use of him." Allen said and appeared before us and freed David.
"Now let's finish them together!" David declared with delight.
"I think not. Even together we are no match for them. It's best that we escape with our lives for now." Allen suggested and they ran back into the house and the door slammed shut.
"Now what?" I asked rather annoyed with the escape routine.
"I still have the journal. In the same section that told how to unlock the door, there's an explanation on locking the door forever. All one has to do is to knock five times on the door and say closed for business. If you are the owner or a resident the house will be locked till opened again. Also it says to be careful to only do it when no one is home, because the house can only be unlocked from the outside if this spell is performed." Brody explained.
"One problem, we aren't the owners." I said.
"It doesn't matter, look there are a few hairs from David's head on the rope. It might be enough that we have his DNA on us." Brody said and did the spell with a single hair wrapped around his knuckles.
Sure enough as the words were said allowed after the knocks the house started to shift and the windows all became covered in what seemed to be sheets of metal. The door itself seemed to disfigure and the door knob no longer was there. On the door it said for just one moment "have a nice trip". Then the message faded away.
"So now our exes are locked together in that house for the rest of eternity." I said.
"Or till they die of old age." Brody suggested.
"I don't think so though. David can't die because the house makes him and his family invincible. He'll age probably till some point, but I think he'll go on." I said.
"And he'll probably make Allen like him so he won't be alone right?" Brody asked.
"If I had to guess I'd say that was right on the money. Maybe they'll find happiness together in the end." I said.
We walked through the forest that seemed so much brighter this time around. It wasn't long before we found ourselves in the tunnel. When we made it to the hole Daniel was there and he dropped a rope down for us.
"Daniel! I can't believe you are still waiting for me. It's been what a 2 days?" I asked.
"What are you talking about cuz. I've only been gone a few minutes getting the rope." Daniel said.
"Are you sure about that?" Brody asked.
"Brody, is that you? Wow, were you in the tunnel the whole time?" He asked as he pulled us out on at a time.
"No, we were in a big mansion." Brody said.
"There's a mansion down in the tunnel?" Daniel asked confused.
"Never mind, it seems there is a lot about that place that we don't understand. It isn't too hard to imagine time works differently in that place." I suggested.
We told the whole story to Daniel, after we made it back home. We sat around Brody's living room as we explained about locking the exes in that house forever.
"So in a way it seems they may get what they wanted all along." Daniel said.
"I don't know about that, but at least they aren't all alone. It is probably better than they deserve." I told him.
"I think I'll head home. I'm so glad you are back safe Brody. Can one of you guys help me to my car?" Daniel asked. He had left it at my house.
"I guess I can take you there on my way home." I offered.
"You can take him to his car, but you are coming back here. This is your home babe. If you will move in with me that is?" Brody asked.
"Of course I will! I'll be back soon love." I said and kissed Brody before taking Daniel to his car.
That night we made love again and again celebrating our victories small and large. It seems like it was too good to be true. We were finally back together and everything was going great. It would be nice if I could just say that was our entire story, and let it end on a happy note. However, there would still be many trials ahead of us before we got to our happy ending if it would come at all. It wouldn't be more than a few weeks after we got back home that our life was turned upside down again.
It started with phone call from Brody's sister. She said something was terribly wrong and she needed Brody to come to Florida as quickly as possible. By the time Brody was off the phone his face was pale.
"What did she say?" I asked worried.
"She said people were disappearing. Also some people were just appearing from thin air too. People that didn't seem to fit. Like people dressed like pilgrims, and people dressed like futuristic and stuff. They are all claiming to be from different time periods." Brody said.
"Is that even possible. I mean we always said time traveling was out of the question. Do you think maybe David and Allen tried to time travel to get out of that house, and they messed up the balance of time?" I asked.
"I don't know, but if it was linked to them why did it start in Florida of all places." I asked.
"I'm not sure. We better get to your sister's apartment fast. Maybe we should just use magic. I don't think magic would really disturb her at this point." I suggested.
"Yeah, lets go invisible though and then we can just ring the bell. That way we can explain it to her easy, and not scare her to death." He said.
"I'm glad I finally get to meet Sarah." That's his sister's name.
"Yes, I just wish we could have met her under more normal circumstances." He said.
We arrived in front of her door directly and looked for signs of passer bys. If there were any we didn't see them. We quickly made ourselves visible and rang the doorbell.
"Who is it?" Sarah called from the door.
"It's us sis! Let us in." Brody said.
"How in the world did you guys make it so fast?" She asked shocked.
"We cheated." I told her.
"We used magic." Brody said.
We spent most of the evening explaining to her about our powers. She seemed to take it all very well. However, I couldn't help but notice that Sarah kept staring at me. It was starting to make me feel uneasy.
"I know we never met since my parents decided to home school me, but I just know I've seen you somewhere before. I mean not like I saw one of Brody's annuals from school things either. I know you don't I?" She asked me.
"I don't think we've ever met. I didn't really go over to Brody's house when we were growing up, except for that one birthday party." I told her.
"It wouldn't have been that, because I remember you looking just like you do now. Wait, I know! You look like the math teacher at the high school here in town." She said.
"Why would you know the math teacher?" Brody asked.
"Oh, yeah I've been doing some work there. I volunteer 3 days a week helping kids with learning disabilities." Sarah explained.
"Wow, that's great you seem to be doing really well now." Brody said.
"I still don't like crowds much, but the kids are nice. I only help a few at a time, so it isn't so bad." She said. It seems on top of her panic attacks, she also had really bad anxiety about public places and large crowds. I too had similar issues, to a smaller degree.
"I know I never met you, but it does feel like we have a lot in common. I'm really glad I met you today Sarah." I said and gave her a hug.
"Thanks. I'm glad to meet you too. You make my brother happy. He talks about you a lot you know." She said with a smile.
Brody later took me aside and told me it was amazing that Sarah had hugged me. She wasn't really into contact with strangers usually.
"So if all this weird stuff is going on, why hasn't it made the news?" I asked Sarah at dinner.
"Not many people seem to notice it at all. That's the odd part. It's like crazy town all the sudden. All the strange stuff keeps happening and no one seems to care." Sarah explained.
"What do you think caused it?" I asked.
"Lee seems to think there's a tear in the time warp. I'm not sure what he means, but he seems to know a lot about such things." Sarah said.
"Who's Lee?" Brody asked.
"Oh yeah, he's the teacher I was talking about earlier." Sarah said.
It was about then that I knew I had to meet Lee though at the same time it felt like it might be a bad idea.
"I think we have to talk to him. Can you take us to his house?" I asked.
"I don't know him that well, but I guess you could go to the school tomorrow and talk to him." Sarah said.
The end
This is actually the end of this story, but I decided to continue on with a bit of a cross over. If you haven't read "Through the Time Warp" yet, now might be a good time. This story is now going to be directly linked to it. The characters Lee and James for sure will be in the new story. I'm not sure about anyone else making it over or not. Please stay tuned. The new Story will be titled "Through the Dimensional Tear". It will probably be featuring some celebs, so I suppose it could be found in the celebrity section. I haven't started writing it yet, but will soon. Sorry for the delay, but I needed a break. Send comments to leoinbama@gmail.com
