Resume:- Trevor has got involved in a relationship with Bob, a married man.

Two Jubilees and One Spitfire. Part 32.

"I am afraid I can't, I've got to get home. You see I'm married!" said Bob in reply to Trevor's invitation to stay the night.

"You're married?" said Trevor, sitting up and looking down on Bob in shocked astonishment.

"A lot of men who like having sex with other men, are married," said Bob. "Surely, you knew that?"

"I have never made love to a married man before."

"Does it make a great difference to you?"

"I don't know. I'll have to think about it. I have never really thought about gay men being married. I know Kundi, my Nigerian friend, has had to get married back in Nigeria. It was expected of him. If he had not married, he would have been regarded as a funny - peculiar. Would've ruined his job prospects." Trevor was silent for a moment. "Surely you weren't forced into marriage?"

"No. But when I married ten years ago it was expected of me. Surely you have been under some sort of pressure to get married?"

"No. My guardian, Isaac, is a bachelor, and as I've told you, he only likes what we've just done. I suppose there's been no female in my life to put any pressure on me, or even suggest that I should get married. I know a friend in Scotland was under some sort of pressure from his family, but he managed to evade the clutches of the female of the species." There was another short silence. "Does your wife know about you?"

"Good Lord, no. She'd have a fit and raise hell if she knew."

"Am I in danger of being named as a co-respondent in a divorce case, if she found out?"

"I make sure she doesn't find out."

"She might get suspicious. Where does she think you are this evening."

"Working late. Getting things all sorted out before the weekend. It's something I have to do every Friday evening." Bob grinned.

"She might get suspicious and have you tracked by a private detective. There might be one outside at this moment," said Trevor.

"Sorry, Trev, to have worried you. I enjoyed this evening. Not only was what we did very good,

"I enjoyed this evening, very much. I like you very much. I've enjoyed just talking to you, as well as being fucked by you. I've got to think about this. This is new territory for me." Trevor paused. "Do you love your wife?"

There was an even longer silence. "I do in a way. I have a couple of kids, a boy and a girl, and I love them to bits. I often feel guilty about what we've just been doing. I don't want to hurt my wife. But this is what's most natural for me. I have tried to stop doing it. But I get very miserable with myself. .... Does this mean never again?"

"I don't know," said Trevor. "I shall have to think about it."

"Trev, I ought to be going. I've got to go back to Liverpool Street, and then to Fenchurch Street to catch a train home."

"No need to do that. I'll run you in the car to Barkingside, and you can pick up your train there."

They got off the bed, and dressed. The conversation was a little strained on the journey across to Barkingside. When they got there they sat for a moment in the car.

"Can we meet again?" asked Bob.

"Ring me, Thursday evening any time after 7.00. I'll tell you then."

"Thanks for this evening. For me it was perfect."

"I enjoyed it too," said Trevor. He leant across and kissed Bob.

Greg and Mark were back when Trevor returned to Chelmsford Road. They were sitting drinking cups of cocoa. Greg got up and went through to the kitchen to make a cup for Trevor.

"How did it go?" asked Mark eagerly.

"All right," replied Trevor.

"Only `all right'. Something wrong?"

"The love making was great, and I like him. But he's married."

"So what? A lot of men who like having it off with men are married. Surely you knew that?"

"I never saw myself as doing it with a married man."

"My dear, darling, lovely Trevor," said Greg coming back into the room, and handing Trevor a cup of cocoa. "You amaze me. In some ways you are more knowledgeable and experienced than either of us two. But in other ways you're innocent or naive. As Mark has said, many of the men who are like us are married. I reckon a lot of those at that Turkish Baths are married like your Bob. Have you looked to see how many have rings on the fourth finger of their left hand?"

"No," said Trevor, still rather perplexed about the whole issue.

"But what does it matter? If you like Bob, and he likes you, then the fact that he's married is his problem not yours."

"But what if his wife finds out. Will I be dragged through the courts as co-respondent?"

Greg and Mark laughed. They came and knelt either side of the chair in which Trevor was seated, and put their arms round him.

"But Trev, when you were a young lad earning your pennies with men, weren't any of them married?"

"Yes, but I was a boy, that was different."

"Was it really? The married guys wanted to do it with a boy, not with a girl, or with a woman, which would have been much easier, and not so dangerous," said Greg.

"I hadn't thought of it that way."

"You know we love you, Trev, don't you?" said Greg.

Trevor nodded.

"Then answer these questions," continued Greg.

"Did you enjoy having fun with this bloke, Bob?"

"Yea, very much."

"Do you like doing the same things."

"Yea, I think we do."

"Do you like him as a man, and not just for the fun?"

"Yes, a lot."

"Do you trust him?"

"Yes, I think so."

"Are you going to see him again?"

"Maybe."

"Maybe!" said Greg and Mark in unison.

"Trev, you like this man. You'd be a bloody fool if you don't see him again." said Mark, and then he added hastily, "I presume he'd like to see you again?"

"Yes, very much."

"Well then?"

"Maybe."

"When could you next see him?" asked Mark.

"Next Friday. He's going to ring on Thursday evening to find out how I feel," said Trevor.

"We'll answer the phone and say `yes' for you," volunteered Greg.

Trevor laughed. "No! I shall answer the phone. And probably say `yes'."

"Good," replied the other two.

"Thank you, both. Thanks for helping me think through that one."

They all stood up. "Bed?" said Trevor.

"Yes," they replied. Then the two of the grabbed Trevor and gave him a hug, and a kiss.

"We do love you," said Mark.

"I know you do, and I value that." Trevor then gave both of them a kiss.

On the next Friday evening Trevor and Bob met at Liverpool Street Station, and made their way out to Leytonstone.

"The other two offered to clear off again for the evening, but I told them not to. I hope that is all right?" said Trevor. "Mark usually gets home first on a Friday, and he'll be getting a meal."

"That sounds good," said Bob. "As long as it does not take too long. You know what I'm looking forward to?"

"Same here."

Bob was properly introduced to Greg and Mark. Together all four ate an enjoyable meal.

"Mark and I are going out for a pint, and we'll do the washing up when we get back." said Greg.

They were soon out of the house, and Trevor and Bob made their way upstairs. After a quick hug and several kisses, they undressed and got onto the bed. Their initial contact was again passionate: many kisses, a lot of touching, and they each gave the other a prolonged suck.

"When did you first do it with a man?" asked Trevor.

"When I was at school. It was with a prefect three years ahead of me," answered Bob looking up from sucking Trevor's cock. "I had been back at school one evening rehearsing for the school play. For some reason we seemed to be the last boys in the school building. We talked. Then he asked, Do you toss yourself off yet?' Yes,' I replied. I've been doing that for about a year now.' You like it then?' asked the prefect. I nodded. Ever done it with another boy?' I shook my head. It's much better than doing it alone.' He looked at me for a moment. Want to do it with me?' He stood there fiddling with his cock, which I could see was hard in his trousers. He reached across and felt my cock, which seemed immediately to become ramrod hard. You've got a nice one in there. Let's go some where private, where I can see and hold it properly."

We went round behind the bogs."

"The bogs?" asked Trevor.

"The school toilets. It was quite private round the back, certainly at that time of night. I don't think he saw much, but he got my trousers down, and felt me all around."

"And you liked it?"

"I should say," said Bob. "He lowered his trousers, and I felt him. His cock seemed huge compared with mine. Then we tossed each other off."

"Lot of boys do that. That is how I started with Harry, though I was a lot younger than you." said Trevor. "Did you do it much with this prefect."

"Yes. Usually after rehearsals. Sometimes at other times. Just once I went back to his place. His parents were out. And we had a long session on his bed."

"Other boys?" asked Trevor.

"Yes. Once you were into doing it, it seemed almost every boy was doing it. There was a sort of grapevine of information, Smith's got a big one, Brown gives a good suck and so on. All except for some of the religious types, of course."

"So why did you get married, if you were enjoying it so much?"

"Well, when I left school I had a sort of office boy job at Lloyd's. It was a different world. Grown up. There were girls around. It was a dangerous thing to do. Then came National Service. I was in the army. You were soon told that being found out doing it could land you in the glass-house. [Colloquial name for the Military Corrective Establishment, MCE at Colchester.] Did you, Trev, in your National Service?

"Very nearly, with the lad in the photo in the army uniform on that chest of drawers. We had just discovered each other,

and we going to do it when we had our long leave in Japan. But he got killed first, saving my life. That's when I was wounded in my thigh."

"I noticed that scar last week. I thought it must have been from falling off your bike sometime when you were a kid."

"No, a Chink bullet did that. So why did you get married?"

"It was just presumed by everyone. Parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles; and all your friends seemed to be getting hitched. I don't think I ever considered the possibility of not getting wed."

"How did you meet your wife?" asked Trevor.

"At a Young Conservatives dance. We met, and we clicked. Met one winter, engaged the following Christmas, and married eighteen months later. Janice was born eighteen months after the wedding, and Richard two years later."

"Did you have any problems, - sexually?"

"No, not at all."

"Went well then?"

"The kids came along on time."

"And no men?"

"Not for the first two or three years. I thought about it, and I think, I wanted to; but I held off."

"Why did you start up again?" asked Trevor.

"Two reasons I think. First, it was out of the question with my wife for a while before Janice was born, and my wife kept me at arm's length, or should I say cock's length, afterwards. She was tired after giving birth, and there were night feeds, and generally bad nights for several months.

I was shattered, my wife must've been more so. But, if I'm really honest with you, Trev, I knew what I really wanted, what was natural to me."

"What did you feel about breaking your marriage vows?" Trevor was surprised at himself at asking this question, but it rather slipped out.

Bob took no offence. "That held me back for quite a while. My wife and I resumed occasional sex together. But then she caught on again with Richard. [Footnote 1] It was shortly after Richard's birth that I had my next encounter with a man."

"What happened?"

"After my National Service I had gone back to Lloyd's. Better job, good prospects. There was a youngster in my department doing the sort of office boy job I'd done before call up. Nice looking lad. Blond hair, and blue eyes you'd die for. And I knew what it was like to be like him at the bottom of the ladder. I think I treated him better than most of the others in the office. We often had little chats. Then I suddenly realised he was flirting with me. Especially when we were alone, he would talk, and make eyes at me."

"And you liked it?"

"I was flattered, Trev. He was good looking."

"Did you encourage him?"

"When I realised what he was doing I did. I wondered where it would lead, but what the hell!"

"And?"

"Well, late one winter afternoon when the office was almost empty, the two of us were talking, and I asked him if he'd like to go for a beer. His face lit up. `Any suggestions where we go?' I asked. He suggested a pub a little out of the usual orbit of our office's drinking houses. As we walked the three or four hundred yards, he said that it was a pity we did not work in the West End. When I asked why, he said we could've gone to the Quebec. I must confess I'd never heard of the Quebec in those days. So I asked why the Quebec. I think he was surprised that I didn't know about it.

It's a pub where men who like men go,' he said. He watched to see if I was shocked or anything. I was slightly surprised, but grinned at him. He then winked and taking me by the arm for the moment led the way towards the pub we were going to. Once in the pub we found a quieter corner where we could talk. You've been to this Quebec place then?' He nodded. Often?' Quite a number of times.' Like it?' I asked; and he nodded. Does that shock you?' he asked. Not really,' I replied. I thought you might be the same?' he said. I did a lot of that sort of thing when I was at school.' But not now?' `Not since I married,' I said.

He laughed. Pity. I thought we might,.......' He was still flirting with me, eye lids fluttering and the most bewitching smile. Would you like to?' he asked. I grinned back at him. I wouldn't mind, you're heck of an attractive chap.' Would you come back to my place? I've got a small one room place in South Hornsey.' As you can guess I went back to his place. When he put his arms round me, pressed into me, and kissed me, it was like coming back home. I knew I had rediscovered the real me."

"You saw a lot of him?"

"For about six or seven months until he got called up for his National Service."

"What about your wife?"

"I felt bad, very bad for a while. Then she decided - no more kids. It was only occasional sex, and only then with a couple of French Letters. Double protection. Putting on one of those things as soon as you know she's going to let you do her is bad enough, but getting the second one on! Sex is now very, very infrequent. Last time was about four months ago. She doesn't want it any more, and neither do I, to be honest."

"I hope you don't mind me asking all these questions," said Trevor.

"Not if it helps you want to do this again." Bob reached down and began to give some attention to Trevor's cock and balls.

"Did you have sex with your wife before you married?"

"No way. It was completely out of the question."

"Would you have liked to?"

"Probably. I know I was keen to get on with it on our first night."

"Now let me give you some attention," said Trevor.

That set the pattern for the relationship. It was all rather predictable and like a railway timetable: meet on a Friday evening at Liverpool Street Station, tube out to Leytonstone, a meal, and then upstairs. After a couple of hours or so Trevor would run Bob to Barkingside to catch the train out to

Thorpe Bay and his wife. This was punctuated only by

Trevor's trips abroad, and half terms.

But early on Trevor thought long and hard about the relationship. He enjoyed his times with Bob very much. It was not just what they did with their bodies in bed on a Friday evening, it was also talking together throughout the evening. But Bob was married. Trevor did not want to be the cause in any way of a breakdown in Bob's marriage. In the background of his thinking there was a fear that he might get involved in a legal wrangle. He decided he must keep it a predominantely sexual friendship. He must not let his heart get involved. He knew that if he did there could be complications.

Every half term Bob's wife would take their two children to visit her parents up north. She was away for various lengths of time, and it was so worked that Bob came and stayed with Trevor.

Trevor's work continued to go well. He was invited to go over to Germany to deliver a number of lectures in the Spring of 1962. His office readily gave him permission to be away for three weeks, as they reckoned Trevor's lecturing and taking part in seminars was good for business. He was working in his spare time writing a couple of articles for learned journals. He was in regular contact with Double O'Brien. That relationship was subtly changing as there were now occasions when she consulted Trevor. She always disagreed strongly with him, but he noticed that there were times when she ended up agreeing with him. There was an idea for another book forming in his mind.

Paul and Lizzie Driffield insisted that Trevor come up to Leeds about once every three months to inspect his godson, the young Trevor. He found that he looked forward to these visits, not just to see Paul, but to talk things over with him. Trevor told Paul all about Bob. When Paul was told that Bob was married he pulled a face, and Trevor knew that there was a limit to Paul's approval of man to man relationships. However that fact made no difference to their relationship, and Trevor ended up respecting and loving Paul for his standards, even if he did not go along with him. But he also delighted in his growing godson. A part of the ritual for each visit was that he bathed the baby. He found that he was growing very interested in and fond of the boy.

That Christmas Trevor took a longer break and paid his first visit to Israel. Isaac was delighted to see Trevor and show him round. Trevor met Isaac's Israeli `special' friend, and was pleased to note that there were none of the feelings that had arisen when Heinie appeared on the scene.

Their relationship was continuing to evolve. Isaac was now in his late fifties, his hair was almost totally grey. They slept together, but there were fewer orgasms together. They talked a great deal as always, and there was a great deal of affection and mutual regard, but less sexual intimacy. Isaac had his Israeli boy friend, and Trevor had Bob back in England.

Towards the end of his stay Trevor found that he was getting desperate to get back home, and the reason was that he was missing Bob. There might be problems in the relationship with Bob being married, but he was getting very fond of the man.

Foot note:- "But then she caught on again with Richard." She became pregnant with the baby who was called Richard. The knowledgeable reader will spot this northern expression in a southern context. I could not resist using it!
