Twenty Years Later

Chapter 9

When Mac got home, he saw a light on in the front hall. He let himself in with his key, and discovered that nobody was in the house. His family had all gone downtown to see a gay-themed movie, and they were going to a gay bar after the film. Mac ran upstairs and threw what little he had brought with him, into his room. He undressed rapidly, and totally naked, he lay down in Ari and Larry's bed. He wanted to surprise them, but he and Dennis had so much sex a short time ago, that he didn't realize how tired he was. He fell fast asleep, and he never heard his family come home.

When Mac left Dennis's house, Dennis said to Laurie, "I should go after him, and make sure he's OK."

"Sure," she said. "I'm going to soak in a hot tub, and go right to sleep. I have to work again tomorrow."

Dennis drove right over, but nobody was home. The house was dark, and no one was answering the doorbell. In spite of that, Mac's car was parked in front of the house, so Dennis sat down on the front steps, and waited for someone to come home. It was Saturday night, and he braced himself for a long wait.

At the bar, Arlen and Kenzie had one drink, and decided that they were too old for this noise, and the deafening music of the place. They wanted to go home. One of Ari's school chums told them to get going, and he promised to take Ari and Larry home, safe and sound.

So when the two father's drove up to their house, and saw Dennis dozing on the front steps, they became alarmed. They jumped out of the car, fearing something terrible had happened to Mac. They roused Dennis from his semi-sleep, and dragged him into the house, where he began to relate his story. Of course, Kenzie's mouth was wide open, but Arlen already knew that Dennis was not only gay, he was in love with Mac.

Arlen and Kenzie both told Dennis how sorry they were about the broken engagement, but inside, they were rejoicing.

"But where's Mac?" Arlen asked, and he ran upstairs. He checked Mac's room first. He saw his small suitcase on the bed, but Mac wasn't there. On a hunch he checked Ari and Larry's room, and there was Mac, lying spread eagle on their bed. He was on top of the covers, and he had a woodie that extended heavenward. He could only imagine what the boy was dreaming. Arlen wanted desperately to fondle that magnificent rod, but he went downstairs quickly.

Kenzie and Dennis breathed a sigh of relief, when Arlen reported that Mac was sleeping like a baby. It was then that the phone rang. It was Ari. They were on their way home. Even these young men couldn't stand the noise of the bar. The truth is they were underage, and couldn't get served.

"Are you still up?" Ari asked.

"Sure, we just got home."

"Good," Ari said. "Put up the coffee, and we'll have a snack before we turn in."

Arlen hung up the phone, and said to Dennis, "Boy, are they in for a pleasant surprise. They had begged Mac not to leave, and they cried when he did."

They put up the coffee, and pulled an apple pie out of the freezer. They defrosted it in the microwave, and set the dining room table for six, in case Mac woke up. When everything was ready, Ari and Larry came in. They were shocked to see Dennis, and they had the same moment of fright their fathers had; something terrible had happened to Mac.

They enjoyed their coffee and a snack while Dennis recited the story, it was Larry's mouth that was agape. When Dennis finished, the three young men bounded up the stairs. They jumped on the bed and started to wrestle with Mac. It took him a second to realize where he was and to start wrestling back. He was naked and they were all dressed, but they were each trying to get his cock in their mouths.

"Please," Mac said, "I want all three of you to fuck me. I need to prove to myself that I have put the trauma of rape behind me. They had no trouble complying with his wish. Ari entered him first, and he knew immediately that his father was right; when it's love, everything you do together is wonderful.

Nobody thought to use condoms, and if they had, they would probably have foregone them. Larry fucked Mac next, and Dennis was last. While Dennis was fucking him, Mac came twice himself. When they all lay cuddled together, Mac cried and laughed at the same time. "

"It didn't hurt at all," he cried out. "I love you all so much."

They separated and Dennis and Mac went to Mac's room. All four slept like contented kittens. They all slept well into the mid-morning hours on Sunday.

For all intent and purposes, Dennis spent most of his time with Mac, and hung out in his house, often sleeping over. He wasn't worried about Laurie, because she spent most nights at her boyfriend's apartment. One Saturday morning, when she wasn't scheduled to work, she showed up at the basketball game with a handsome man. She introduced him as her boyfriend, James, and everyone was surprised. They all assumed that Laurie's boyfriend was a high school chum, but this handsome man was at least thirty years old, and appeared well to do.

"I need to speak to you after the game," she said to Dennis.

"Meet me at home. I'll need to shower," he said.

He and Mac had begun to shower together after a game or a workout. He would have to miss that pleasure today.

Dennis showed up at Arlen's house at about five that afternoon. He had a suitcase with him. When everyone looked surprised at the suitcase, he said. "I'm here most of the time anyway, so I thought I'd start moving in."

"What about Laurie?" Mac asked in alarm.

"Good news. She and James were married by a Justice of the Peace, yesterday afternoon. She's moving to his apartment tomorrow, and she advised me to put my house on the market, if I had no intention of living there. I'm going to do that first thing Monday morning."

Mac stifled a sob.

"It seems," Dennis continued, "that James lives in a penthouse apartment. She said to tell you that she'll have us all to dinner as soon as she gets settled in."

"Has she told James that we are all gay?" Ari asked.

"Sure, and he's fine with it. It turns out that he's a lawyer, and he often takes cases pro bono, when they involve discrimination against gays, or any other minorities. I guess he's an OK guy."

Dennis and Mac embraced. They didn't kiss, they just held each other, and Arlen remembered when Kenzie showed up at his door, after twenty years of separation. They just held each other for what seemed like hours. It was an expression of love that far surpassed sex.

Kenzie, the practical one, asked Dennis if he had dinner yet.

"No, and right now, I'm so happy, I could eat a horse."

"OK guys," Kenzie said, "Arlen and I are taking us all out to dinner to celebrate."

"Sure," Arlen said mockingly. "You don't care how you spend my money."

Mac must not have been thinking right. He thought his father was serious, so he said, "Dennis and I both work. We'll be glad to chip in."

Arlen roared with laughter. Dennis and Mac were still holding each other for dear life, but big Arlen managed to embrace them both, and kiss them both on the cheek.

That night, Arlen and Kenzie were in bed cuddling and fondling, when Arlen began to cry.

"What's wrong, honey?" Kenzie asked.

"I was just thinking about how a little bit of fate can alter our lives. If Ari hadn't chosen Syracuse University, you wouldn't have come to Syracuse. If you hadn't come to Syracuse, you wouldn't have looked me up, and we never would have reconnected.

"If you hadn't insisted on introducing me to your son, before returning to Austin, his eyes might not have been opened to how much he loved Larry. He might have gone on fooling himself that he was straight.

"If Mac wouldn't have been raped, robbed and beaten, he might never have come to me for comfort, and we would still be estranged."

"If Ari and Larry had not seduced him, Mac would still be kidding himself into thinking he was straight. He would marry Laurie and his marriage would be a disaster.

"If Ari hadn't taken Mac to the pick-up basketball game, he wouldn't have met Dennis.

"I think they call that the fickle finger of fate," Arlen concluded his reminiscing.

Kenzie giggled. "You're playing the `what if' game, Sweetie. It's everybody's favorite game. You don't need to purchase an expensive board with accessories. You just have to remember back to one tiny incident that changed your life."

"It may be a fun game, but it's also frightening," Arlen said. If any one of those things had not happened, our lives would be entirely different."

"You're right. That is a frightening thought," Kenzie said. "Let's take advantage of where fate has put us at this moment in time, before something else gets altered." He leaned over Arlen, and found Arlen's limp dick. Kenzie started to work his magical tongue and lips, and in mere seconds, Arlen was as stiff as a ramrod.

The end.
