Chapter V: "This is my last chance to make you mine"
Lexi and I decided to have a little party with our closed friends to celebrate our new found love. We invited Paul as a little way of saying thank you, Kathy, and Nicole for the special evening. Everyone is wondering what is the special party is all about except for Paul.
"Hey guys, listen up. We have an important announcement." as Lexi holds my hand and looks at me.
"Ok Alex, what's up?" Kathy asked with a raise eyebrow.
"Umm, Lexi and I were partners." As I intently watch their reactions. Kathy and Nicole were shock by the statement. "Kat, Nic are you ok?" I nervously asked.
"What? You and Lexi? How come?" Kathy asked.
"Yeah, Sorry Kat, I didn't say it early. I want to surprise you. It's a long story." I chuckle.
"You really surprised me though!" Kathy said. Paul stands up and offer us a toast. Nicole suddenly gets up on her chair and headed to the door. Everybody fell silent. What's wrong with her? I thought. I smell trouble. "Stay here ok, I'll talk to her." I said to Lexi. As I immediately follow her to her car.
"Hey, Nic! What's wrong?" I asked. She turns around with an angry look on her face. "What's wrong? You're asking me what's wrong? Ha?" she's screaming with anger.
"Yeah, what's wrong with you?" I shouted back.
"Ask yourself what's wrong! Damn it!" as she closes her car door and tries to speed away.
"No, you're not going anywhere, we're going to talk." As I moved in front of her car.
"Back-off or I'll ran over you!" she screamed. I got a little bit nervous that's why I give in. "Alright!"
Lexi runs towards me and embraces me. "Are you Ok? Honey?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. What's wrong with her? I haven't seen her like that before." "Maybe, she likes you!" Kathy whispers in my ear.
"Huh? Me?"
Our little gathering went on after the incident, this is our night, and I don't want somebody to spoil it. "So lets call this a night?" Paul asked. "I guessed." Lexi said. We say goodbye to Paul and Kathy and apologizing for what had happen. After they left I decided to go straight to my room and lock myself up. I didn't spoke to Lexi, I don't know what to say I'm a little bit shy? I can't understand why Nicole did such things.
"Alex, open this door. What are you doing?" Lexi asked.
"Lexi please!" I pleaded.
"Alex, please? You're not being fair; we need to solve this problem together. You don't have to bear it alone." I slowly open the door and let her in. "I'm sorry about what happen. I'm sorry!"
" It's alright, no one expect it to happen." Lexi kissed me on my forehead. I got up and get my car keys. "I'll be right back!"
"Alex, where are you going?" Lexi stops me from the door. "I'm going to find her and we're going to talk!" I exclaim. "No, I'm going with you!"
"No, you stay here alright? I'm going to fix this on my own." I remark.
"But--" "No, let me handle this alone. Please? Just this one, please?" I pleaded.
"Alright! I love you!" Lexi said.
"Love you too, bye." As I kissed her.
Lexi just can't sit on a corner and wait for Alex to return she's afraid of what's going to happen with Nicole and Alex. Lexi stay put behind Alex's car. If something went wrong she'll be there in an instant.
"I know you're going here!" I sat beside Nicole.
"How do you know I was here?" Nicole asked.
"I just knew it! You're still mad?" She didn't say a word. I just kept mum and wait for her to speak up. I know she's thinking of what she did earlier.
"Remember the night you brought me here? The night you made me realized of what I am and what I want. That night, the sky was so bright, full of stars. That night was perfect. And now look at them, sky was empty, no stars shining through." Nicole said, "You told me that every thing will be ok. You told me that only a fool couldn't like me. You made me feel special but look at me now, I feel --. " As she starts to cry like a lost child. I patted her on the back and say how sorry I am. That's the only thing I can say at that moment. She taps my hand and stood in front of me. She's really mad at me. I can see it in her eyes.
"You know what's wrong with me? You want to know why I did that? Look at me!" as she lifted my head to face her. "I want you to realized that I like you! You understand that?" I just shook my head. "I thought what you said on that night were true, and it give me a thought that you like me, but I was wrong. Am I not good enough for you to like me?" as tears continue to flow on her face.
"Nicole, sit down, calm down will you?" She slowly sits down and covers her face with her hands. I gently took both of her hands and look her straight to the eyes and said, "What I said that night was true, I mean it. And I'm sorry if you feel that way. I only see you as a friend, I'm sorry. I can't reciprocate your feelings towards me, I'm sorry. I-I-I love Lexi she is my better half. The moment I saw her I knew it would be her. I love her. Please, I'm sorry. I know you're going to meet someone much better than me, please I'm sorry!" On the other hand, Lexi saw everything that's happening. She knew that everything would be ok soon, she knew that Alex can fix all those things. But she can't keep on thinking how jealous she was seeing the one she loves are having those conversation with someone. * What if Alex realized that she loves that girl more than me? * "Arrgh, I love her and I must trust her! I'm secured of her love for me! Why am I having this thought?" Lexi asked herself. * What is she doing? * Lexi thought. "Stay Calm Lexi! Stay calm!"
We stay on the park for about an hour, no one said anything we decided to sit there on the bench.
"Alex, I'm sorry! I ruin your evening." Nicole mumbles.
"Now, are you ok?" As I wiped the remaining tears on her face.
"I guessed." As I see the smile on her face, "I'm such a cry baby. You noticed? Alex, can you do me a favor?" she asked.
"Sure!"
"Can I give you a hug?" I just smiled and with open arms I give her a hug.
"Thank you!"
I went home that night with a peace of mind. I know everything will be ok after that. Everything will be all right!
