TRUE LOVE-2
Chapter II:
"Say something Lexi!" I pleaded. * Oh, God this is not good* I tried to hide my rising anger so I decided to leave. As I'm going to stand, she grab my hand, "Wait, I'm sorry, I didn't say a word right away. Please sit down." I take my chair again and waited for her to speak up. My heart was pounding so hard at that moment. I don't want to pretend to other people of who I really am. If they don't like my preferred sexuality it is their problem to deal with not mine.
"Alex, it doesn't matter to me. It's OK. Believe me! I'm glad that you are very open about it. And thank you for trusting me." Lexi exclaimed. "Nothings going to change, you're still the same Alex I met at Kathy's Party." She smiled. Her smile gave me the assurance that it was really fine.
"Thank you." I replied.
The rest of the dinner we talk about the bills that I'm going to shoulder on, her house rules and its great to think that I can save a lot.
"Kathy, get up! Kathy! Guessed what?" I was screaming of joy.
"Alex, what? I'm not a fortune teller so tell me now!" Kathy said.
"I've got a new place!"
"Huh? Where? She inquired.
"Lexi. She told me that her house was so big for her and she has a spare room for another person. And she thought that I can be a good house mate."
"Alex, I told you, you can stay here with me for as long as you want to. You're not being obligated to find your own place. " Kathy said. As her smile fade away.
*Oh-Oh! *
"Kathy, we already talked about this, right? I've been here for almost 3 months. And I want to give you back your privacy."
"Sorry. I forgot!" she said.
I told her that I'm going to move-in a couple of weeks. I need to check the place first, if it's really near my office. I told Lexi I would give her a call if I want to visit the place.
At the office...
*This whole week is going to be busy. Pack my things little by little, visit the house. This is too tiring! *
At lunchtime as we we're waiting for our food to be serve...
"Hey, Alex. Friday night ok?" Nicole said with all her smiles.
"Huh?"
"You forgot?" she said as her voice was louder than the usual. That's when I recall the promise I made.
"Umm, No, No, of course not. It's my treat right?" I lied. (I can say that I'm not a good liar. It shows!;-)
I sensed that Nicole got a little bit upset about me forgetting the "date". She didn't talk to me the rest of the lunch. I should've told her the truth. But I didn't. *Damn, what am I doing! I'm looking for trouble. *
"Honey, she's moving in a couple of weeks from now, maybe Saturday?" Lexi said cheerfully.
"What's with her that you want her to be your house mate? Ha?" Paul inquired.
Lexi just kept mum and pretended that she didn't hear him asking. * I really don't know why, Paul. *
"Don't forget our date on Friday alright?" Paul said.
"Hey, Kathy. You want to go out with my friend and me on Friday? I asked.
"Nah, thanks! I'm going to have a business trip for three days and Friday is my only day-off, You have a date on Friday? And who's the lucky girl?"
"Let me correct that, it's not a date. She' my co-worker at the office. OK? Name? Nicole." I snorted out.
"Whatever you call that girl. Still it is a date! So good luck on your first date in the city." Kathy teases me.
"It is NOT a DATE!" I stated matter-of-factly.
After that Lunch with Nicole I felt very guilty of what I did. I'm going to make it up to her. The only time I have the chance to talk to Nicole was at Lunchtime.
"So, Nicole, where do you want to go tomorrow night? You got any plans?" I asked.
" Just take me out to dinner." She said without looking at me. I thought we're going bar hopping. But then I resign for the thought of asking her why a sudden change of plans.
"Alright, I'll pick you up at 7:30pm?"
"Are you sure you want to go out tomorrow night? It's OK with me if you don't want to!" She stated.
She still remembers that I forgot the "date". I was struck by her words that I didn't realize it is very important to her. * What am I going to do? *
I hold her hand and gently squeeze it. "Nicole, I'm sorry that I almost forgot Friday night. I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to. I'm just so busy with deadlines with the design and everything." Still holding her hand. "And yes, I want to hang out with you on Friday night ok? Please, I'm sorry."
Friday night with the thought of making up to her...
I pulled up at the parking lot of Nicole's apartment. As the door open-up I saw Nicole dress up for the night. I just exclaimed how beautiful she was at the dress. She's wearing a knee length black dress that was perfectly suited her skin and her long curly blonde hair.
"Wow, you really look great tonight!" all I can say.
"Thank you!" she said.
" Tonight you're going to make heads roll. I bet" I can't believe that she's going to dress up like that,
"Liar!" she said while laughing.
"Shall we go?" I asked. "Yeah!"
The drive was full of fun and laughter. Finally, the old Nicole I knew was back to her normal self. "Ok, we're here!"
"Are you sure we're going to eat here? She asked.
"Yeah, you told me that dinner was just fine right? So we're having dinner here. Don't worry I made a reservation." I said. I really want to make it up to her.
On the other hand...
Lexi notice the two ladies being escorted by their waiter at their respective table. Could it be Alex? * The table was not far behind them. * I'm right, she's Alex. What is she doing here? On a date? Lexi's mind was racing for the fact that Alex was there and curious of who she was with. She didn't even notices Paul was saying something to her.
"Honey, are you listening?" Paul asked.
"Huh? Umm, Sorry I didn't hear you. What was that again?" Lexi try to focus her attention to Paul.
"Hon, is there something wrong? Are you OK? You seems so off." He asked.
"Umm, I'll go to the rest room. Excuse me!" Lexi said.
- Lexi, come on! What the hell are you thinking? You're having a date with Paul your BOYFRIEND! FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS! *
At Alex's table...
"Nicole, I'm really sorry about forgetting the Friday night-out." I said.
"It's ok! I really don't like people to forget such good things." She replied.
"I'm sorry!"
The Dinner was great. I enjoyed it. We talked about her family, friends, how she gets the job in the city, and boyfriends. She told me that she has 2 serious relationship with men but she seems something is missing. I told her that now she's in the Big City of New York she can meet a lot of men that could fill that missing link that she's saying.
"Alex, can I ask you something?"
"Sure, fire away!" I said.
"Are you gay?" she asked blatantly.
I was shocked. I didn't know that she's going to ask that question. I didn't think of lying to her again this time.
"Yes, I am! And I'm proud to be one!" I said with a big grin on my face. "Why? Are you? I asked.
"Umm, Yeah, I realized it when I came in the City." She said with uneasiness on her voice. "Hey, are you shy of being gay? Come on! It's not an issue anymore!" I said to cheer her up. I hold her hand to give her an assurance that it's ok for her to tell me those things. And there is nothing to be ashamed off.
At the meantime Lexi wasn't able to focus on Paul, she kept on sneaking at Alex on what are they doing. As Lexi saw Alex hold the girls' hand "Honey, Let's go home! I'm not feeling well! Take me home. Alright?" Lexi pleaded.
"Why? What's wrong? I'm your boyfriend and I deserve to know what's bothering you!" Paul asked with a slight annoyance on his voice. "Just, Please Take me home now!" Lexi commanded Paul. I can't take this anymore!
"OK I'll take you home!" Paul resigned.
Back at Alex table....
"This is not the right place to talk about your little problem." Alex said.
"Something in mind?" she asked.
"Yeah, let's get out of here."
Paul kept on talking to Lexi on their way home but Lexi's mind was set to Alex.
"We're home!" Paul said.
"Thank you!" as she gives Paul a quick kiss on the lips
At the moment Lexi heard Paul's car drove off, she quickly headed to her room and think about what she saw at the restaurant.
"Why am I so bothered by the fact that Alex has a date. We're just friends! What is this I'm feeling towards her?" as Lexi cried. "Did I like her? No, she is going to be my housemate and it won't do any good if I continue to have feelings like this to her!" she screamed.
"Good Lord, Please help me out!" as she continue to cry.
"OK we're here!"
"Park?"
"Yeah, there it is, my favorite bench." I pointed the little bench beside the lake. "This is where I usually go when I need to think over some things. Maybe this could help you." I said. As we sit on the bench " Look at the sky, the stars are shining so bright I haven't seen it for quite sometime now. The sky is so clear. This is a perfect evening." As I close my eyes.
"Alex, I'm scared!"
"Huh? Scared? Of what?" (Now I'm confused) "Does your family knows? I inquired.
"Yes, and they are very supportive of Me."
"Then what it is you being scared of?"
"Rejection! What if no one will love me? What if they don't like me?" she's freaking out.
I gently put my thumb on her lips to silence her. "Come on, look at yourself, I think you're good, smart, and beautiful inside-out! Only a fool can't notice that! Trust me! And you're going to have lots of love in this world."
Now we are face to face with each other. As I look in her eyes I can tell that she needs me. I'm in an awkward situation. I just turn away from her and look up at the sky.
"Nicole, it will be ok! Don't worry. Look at the stars they are all shining at you."
"Huh? Yeah! Such a perfect evening." She remarked.
As we stayed on the bench, we kept silent. I think back of Lexi. I wish it were Lexi that I am with. I hope that someday Lexi will be the one person I'm sitting on this bench forever. Forget about Lexi, Alex. You can get hurt! Why on earth Lexi!
"Alex!"
"Huh? Yeah?"
"Thank you!"
"Thank you for what?"
"For making this evening so wonderful! For making me realize of what I really am and what I really want in my life. Thank you!" as a tear rolls down in her eyes.
"Hey, you don't have to thank me for that. I just said what I have to say. That's all and besides that's what friends are for right?"
The drive back at Nicole's place was silent. Her mind was wandering somewhere else. So I just glued my eyes on the road.
"You're home!" I exclaimed. As I walk her to the door. "You want to come in? Have some coffee or anything?" she asked.
"No, thanks it's getting late, maybe some other time."
"OK!" she smiled.
Before I turn to leave, I kissed her on the cheek.
"Goodnight, Nic. everything will turn out right!"
"Goodnight! Thanks!"
