Tortuga Gold - 13 t/t
Chandler looked across to where Tom was on his knees on the deck scraping off salt and grime. It had taken the better part of two weeks for Tom to heal enough to resume light duties. He wasn't allowed in the rigging yet, but Chandler was sure it wouldn't be too much longer and he'd be strong enough to climb.
The ship's carpenter was working on a section of the stern rail and Chandler stood by his side handing him tools when asked. Chandler was enjoying the work, the added bonus was that the carpenter preferred women and so hadn't made any other requests of his assistant. "Not like being Cook's Boy," Chandler thought.
"Captain wants the ship squared away before we reach port," the man said as he tapped a chisel with a wood hammer.
"How long before we make the islands?" Chandler asked, squinting in the bright sun.
"Fair weather, steady winds, we'll be in Port Royal in about four or five week's time I reckon."
Chandler looked out to sea; the line of ships following the Tortuga was impressive. The two prize ships were in the middle and the Soledad brought up the rear. The excitement of the battle and the anticipation of the tallying of the cargo had faded. Now it was work as usual. Chandler stared at the prize ships and smiled. "More than you can count," he remembered Tom's words when Chandler had asked what their share would be, "more than you can count!"
The carpenter dismissed Chandler late in the afternoon. The boy smiled and hurried to find Tom. His friend was helping in the galley.
"I thought that was Stevens's job?" Chandler teased as he sat down next to Tom who was cutting up some scraps of dried meat.
"I'd rather do this than scrub the deck again," Tom laughed.
Thatcher tossed something into the soup kettle.
"How's he working out as Cook's Boy?" Chandler asked, nodding in Stevens' direction and biting into a bit of meat he had snitched off the cutting area.
Stevens was sitting on the bench that had been made especially for the ship's boys.
Thatcher smiled.
"That good, huh?" Chandler chuckled.
Thatcher stirred the soup. "No complaints," he grinned.
Stevens wiggled a bit, no doubt trying to get more comfortable. Chandler remembered when he had been the one sitting on the bench. The greased wood peg had felt strange the first time he had sat down on it. His weight had forced the intruder ever deeper until finally his cheeks were on the bench and the knob was crammed all the way up his hole. The feeling of the thing filling his bum and rubbing against his button had been embarrassingly pleasurable. His face had grown red, and not long after, he had squirt all over the deck.
"Stevens must be feeling the same thing," Chandler thought, because despite his efforts to hide it, the boy had a throbbing hard on.
Tom gave Stevens a mischievous look. "So do you miss being the Captain's Boy?"
"Bugger off," Stevens whispered.
"Looks like you're the one getting buggered," Tom chuckled, and playfully winked at Chandler.
Late that night, Tom was sitting on the floor of the gun deck, in the spot that he and Chandler used as their sleeping quarters. Tom leaned back against the hull, his legs stretched out wide in front of him. Chandler sat down between Tom's legs, his back resting against Tom's chest. Tom wrapped his arms around him and pulled him close.
"Saw you looking at me today when you were supposed to be working," Tom whispered in Chandler's ear.
"I couldn't keep my eyes off of you. Your arms were all sweaty and your muscles were bulging," Chandler giggled.
"You like my muscles?"
"They're all right," Chandler teased.
Tom gave Chandler a tender squeeze. "Are you going to make me feel good tonight?"
"Don't I always?" Chandler turned and smiled.
Tom nodded.
"So what's it going to be?" Chandler turned back and leaned against Tom.
"What do YOU want?" Tom asked softly.
"Hold me for a while?"
Tom snuggled his face against Chandler's neck and gave him a little kiss. "For a while," he whispered, "then I'll want more."
Chandler made soft sounds as Tom nibbled at his neck and licked his ear.
The boys sat together for a time and then Chandler turned around, got to his knees, and wrapped his arms around Tom's neck. He leaned in and closed his eyes.
Tom saw the sweet look on Chandler's face as he drew near for a kiss. Tom closed his own eyes as their lips met. The kiss was ever so tender and gentle. Tom felt Chandler open his mouth in invitation, and Tom's tongue took advantage. Chandler moaned softly, the sound muffled. Their tongues played happily. After a time they parted.
"That was nice," Tom whispered as he pushed a lock of hair away from Chandler's eyes.
Chandler smiled and gave him a little peck on the lips. "Yeah, but my knees hurt kissing like this."
Tom reached for Chandler's shirt, smiled, and started to take it off. "Well, let's do something else then."
Some time later, Chandler made a soft whimpering sound as Tom gently positioned the head of his cock between his cheeks and slowly pushed his entire length deep up his ass. "That's nice," he grunted in approval.
Lying on their sides, Tom caressed Chandler's chest as his hips started a rhythmic thrusting. "So nice that you want it twice tonight?" Tom teased.
Chandler pushed his ass back apparently making sure Tom was all the way inside. "Maybe," he chuckled.
Tom used a hand on Chandler's hip to steady himself. He paused and then slowly drew back and then just as slowly pushed forward.
Chandler moaned, the tenderness of Tom's actions was evident.
Tom paused once more, his dick buried deep inside.
"What?" Chandler asked.
Tom kissed Chandler on the neck, "I was just wondering," he whispered.
Chandler reached for Tom's hand and their fingers intertwined.
Tom slowly pulled back.
"Of course I love you," Chandler whispered.
Tom pushed in again and the two were as one.
After arriving in Port Royal, the Tortuga anchored in the harbor. The Captain saw to the safe mooring of the prize ships and the Soledad. A few short hours later an emissary from the Governor made his way in a small boat out to the Tortuga and was welcomed aboard.
"What's that all about?" Chandler asked Tom as the Captain took the man below.
"We owe the Governor some of the treasure," Tom answered.
"Why? He didn't fight!"
"Letters from him is what makes us privateers and not pirates. We pay him and he pays others. We get what's left."
Chandler still didn't understand.
"We pays the Governor or we hang," Tom said quietly.
Chandler finally understood.
It was days later that the Captain allowed the men and boys to go ashore. The treasure had been divided, and Soledad sailed immediately after her crew had been paid. They had taken coin and the Governor had taken his portion in the form of cargo and gold from the captured vessels. The Tortuga crew held the remaining gold and the ships themselves, which they would sell and the money handed out. For the time being, all hands were given an advance so that wine, women, and fun could be had by all.
Chandler's legs felt rubbery as he stepped off the plank and onto land for the first time in months. "I wonder if big John will be surprised to see us?" Chandler gushed as he and Tom headed down the street.
"Bet he'll be glad for the business," Tom laughed, shaking the small bag of gold coins that hung from a loop of his britches.
Tug had offered to see the boys safely to the tavern. "Ruffians about," he had grunted when Tom had resisted, "Remember?"
Chandler recalled how Tawse had stolen from Tom and left him in an alley so many months before.
"Well, I guess you can come along." Tom tried to act tough, but it was clear to Chandler having Tug join them wasn't a problem.
Chandler gave Tom a concerned look as they rounded the corner. The wooden sign with the crude sketch of a black dog hung crazily by a broken rope, shutters covered the windows, and trash was strewn about.
"What the..?" Chandler said in confusion.
"Looks like it's out of business," Tug grunted.
"Big John would never let the place go like this," Chandler said quietly.
As they got closer, the place looked worse.
"What do you think happened?" Tom asked.
Chandler shrugged. He was relieved when he tried the door and it opened. He entered and Tom and Tug followed.
The inside of the tavern seemed about the same as always Chandler thought as he looked around. "Hello?" he yelled to the empty room.
"There in a minute!" A woman's voice called from upstairs.
The three waited and finally there were footsteps headed their way.
Chandler smiled when the woman appeared.
"Chandler!" Sarah shrieked in happiness and hurried down the last few steps. Arms spread wide she wrapped her brother in a hug.
Chandler felt himself pulled off his feet as his sister lifted him and continued her high pitched shriek of excitement.
"Save one for me?" Tom teased when Sarah finally let go of Chandler.
Sarah gave Tom a smile and wrapped her arms around him. "We heard the Tortuga came in, but when we didn't see you boys we wondered..." her voice trailed off.
"Came through it, and only just a bit worse for wear," Tom replied.
"Show her," Chandler said softly.
Tom pulled his shirt up and showed off the jagged line where he had been injured.
Sarah winced. "Well, you're safe and sound now!"
"Where's Big John?" Chandler asked as Sarah led the way to a table.
"In his bed," Sarah glanced up the stairs, "there was a fight a few weeks ago." Sarah fetched glasses and a jug. "He was holding his own until one of `em put a knife into him."
Chandler was afraid to ask.
"They say he'll never stand on his feet again," Sarah said softly, her eyes growing moist, "but he's a tough old bird and I wouldn't count him out."
Tug filled a glass and tossed it down in one gulp, and then poured another.
Chandler and Tom glanced at one another exchanging concerned looks and then Tom poured for both of them.
Sarah sat with her hands resting low on her belly. Chandler thought it a bit unusual.
Sarah smiled when she saw Chandler looking her way.
"I've got a little one on the way," she whispered and rubbed her stomach.
Both Chandler and Tom grew wide eyed.
"You're going to be an uncle," Sarah chuckled.
Chandler led the way upstairs, with Tom following closely behind. When Chandler opened the door to the bedroom, Big John let out a bellow of welcome. It was obvious he was very happy to see the boys again. It wasn't long before he was asking them to tell him everything about their time away.
"At the end, they made me Carpenter's Helper," Chandler said proudly.
Big John congratulated him on his promotion from Cook's Boy. "Learned a few things at sea, I'll wager," he said with a wink.
Chandler blushed.
"Neither of us will have to drop our britches and bend over for a few coins anymore," Tom said, shaking the sack of gold. "Unless we want to that is," he laughed.
The next few weeks were busy ones. Chandler and Tom used every spare moment they were allowed off the ship to help out at the tavern. As Tom had predicted, the Tortuga crew was eager to spend the gold they had just earned. The tavern was busy.
Chandler couldn't help feeling sad for Sarah every time he saw her climb the stairs with a man. To his mind, her being in a family way seemed to make things that much worse. He wondered why it had never bothered him before. "Maybe I did learn a few things," he thought to himself.
Big John seemed to be getting slightly stronger as time went on. But the progress was exceedingly slow and he still hadn't shown any signs of being able to use his legs. He and Chandler had long talks each afternoon.
One day the conversation turned to Chandler's future.
"Back to sea?" Big John asked after one of Chandler's tales of life aboard ship.
Chandler thought about the conversation he had with Tom a few days earlier. No decisions had been made, but neither had been eager to set sail again any time soon. "Don't know about that," the boy said softly.
"If not the sea, then what are you going to do with yourself?"
Chandler shrugged.
Big John had gone silent. "You came away with gold, you're a rich young man."
Chandler nodded. "Captain says it was the biggest prize he'd ever seen."
Big John smiled, "Made some money in the tavern business, but nothing like you!"
"What's going to happen to the Black Dogg?"
John shrugged. "Probably close, no one to run the place if I'm flat on my back."
Chandler could almost see the idea forming in Big John's mind. It wasn't hard to guess because he was thinking the same thing himself. "But, if Tom and I were to pitch in.."
John gave Chandler a look, "and you took an oath to take care of an old cripple, there might be some profit in it for you."
"What kind?"
"I'm thinking there's room for a partnership," John drawled.
"Need to be papers, all signed and such!" Chandler said warily.
"Aye, all right and proper."
"And we'd need a strong hand to settle the crowds," Chandler offered.
"Tug might be persuaded," John suggested, "told me himself he's about had his fill of killing."
It grew quiet as both thought things over.
"No more upstairs work for Sarah," Chandler said firmly, the negotiations now in full swing.
"If so, then there'd have to be some compensation for the loss of income," John countered.
"A bit of gold, but the rest in trade, helping out with cooking and such," Chandler countered.
John stared at Chandler, and Chandler stared back, each taking their measure of the other.
Chandler stood and walked to the bed. He offered his hand. "Do we have a bargain?"
Big John smiled, spit into his palm and reached out. "That we have!"
Chandler laughed as Tug grabbed the drunk by the seat of his pants and his collar, and tossed him out the door end over end.
"Just like Big John," Tom smiled.
The crowd was loud but reasonably well mannered. Tom and Chandler worked the tables, Tug the bar, and Sarah saw to the "entertainment" assigning girls to customers that wanted to go upstairs.
Tug had taken some jokes tossed by the Tortuga's crew for him tending bar and not drinking away his share of the prize money. But Tug had decided he had taken his last trip to sea.
Chandler looked at his sister as she sat at a table near the stairs. She was definitely round in the middle now, the baby looking to be a big one.
"Mary's done," Chandler looked at the young woman slowly walking down the stairs. "Shall we take off and she can serve the drinks?"
Tom smiled. "Haven't ended early in weeks," he chuckled.
"Let's go," Chandler grinned.
The moon was full and the air cool and fresh as the boys walked through town toward the harbor. All the taverns were filled to overflowing and their noise carried down into every alley.
"Glad to have some time for ourselves," Chandler said quietly as they neared the docks.
"The Tortuga looks deserted," Tom glanced at the ship anchored near the center of the harbor.
"Most of the crew is at our place drinking," Chandler laughed.
"Or fucking," Tom smiled.
The pair leaned against the sea wall and looked at the other ships swinging slowly on their moorings.
"Sorry about not going back to sea?" Chandler asked as he drew close to Tom.
"Enough adventure for a while," Tom whispered.
Chandler looked around, and, seeing no one close, wrapped an arm around Tom.
Tom turned and looked at him. "What about you? Are you sorry about not going back to sea?"
"Big John and the Black Dogg are all that I know."
Tom gave Chandler a mischievous smile, "that and Tortuga Gold!"
Chandler laughed. "Let's stay here until the tavern closes, and then you can show me a good time."
Tom bumped against Chandler, "shall we try to beat our record?"
Chandler chuckled, "sure, why not?"
