Chapter One
Nohea
Dinner turned out really well, and we all had seconds as we were known to do when Dad made steak! It was all really good, and after thanking Dad for another really well-done meal, I helped him clear the table. Triston and Pietro helped with dishes while I helped Dad clean off the grill. We went back into the house, and after helping Triston shower, we all gathered in the living room to relax and watch TV for a bit. Dad did let us know that we would all have to be in bed at a decent hour since we would be going somewhere the next day.
"Still no hint as to where we're going?" I asked. "Pietro did let me know that there are plans that have been made for the weekend."
"I haven't told him what they are yet," Pietro added smiling.
"You'll find out soon enough," Dad replied.
"I definitely can't wait for whatever it is," I answered.
Eventually we all went upstairs and got in bed for the evening. Pietro and I cuddled, and were asleep in no time. It felt good to be in the arms of the love of my life once again.
I awoke the next morning to the sound of my alarm. Reaching over, I shut it off, then sat up. I got out of bed, then relieved myself. Pietro was getting out of bed as I brushed my teeth, and he greeted me just as I was putting away my tooth brush. We got in the shower, and after making sure Triston was up, I listened and heard my dad getting out of the shower. Soon we were all in the kitchen eating breakfast.
Once breakfast was finished, Dad let us know that we would need to get our over-night bags packed, then he let us know that Bryan, Amy and Lexy would be joining us. Soon they were at our front door, and we were all getting in the car to follow them to where ever it was we were all going.
We drove for almost 30 minutes, then my dad let me know where we were headed. I couldn't believe it, and my excitement grew even more!
"So that's what you guys had planned!" I said as Pietro and I hugged. "This really is a wonderful surprise! Thank you, Dad, for this! I was hoping that we could all get away to the cabin sometime soon!"
"You're welcome, and I figured you'd be really happy with the surprise," Dad replied. "I wanted to get away for a while too, and I had been thinking that the cabin was the best place for us to go. I was really happy when Pietro brought it up."
"I also figured that we all could use a minivacation," Pietro said. "It's so peaceful at the cabin, and I really loved it when we were there a few months ago."
"I really loved that time too," Dad replied.
"Now that it's warm, we'll be able to do more things outside around the area," I said. "I can't wait to check out the lake they have close by."
"I'm looking forward to that as well," Pietro added.
"Me too," Dad responded.
Triston let us know that he couldn't wait to swim in the lake either, and I told him that I was sure we would have a lot of fun there.
Soon we pulled into the driveway, and we greeted Lexy, Bryan and Amy. Entering the cabin, we all got our stuff unpacked, and Dad let us know that he was going to be headed to the store to get food for the kitchen. I asked if he needed anyone to go with him to help out, and he said he would be alright by himself. Once he was out the door, Pietro, Triston and I went out and into the front yard. We sat there admiring the scenery, and Pietro described what was all around us.
There were the huge groups of trees behind the cabin that stretched out across the way so that they could be seen when standing beside the cabin. The lake was to the right of the cabin several feet away, and at certain areas in the grass, there were several rabbits that were hopping around. In the trees, several Blue Jays sat on a branch. There were also three land turtles that were sitting side-by-side next to one of the trees where the Blue Jays sat. Triston let me know that the turtles were watching us, then they went in their shells. There were also a few deer that were walking around, two of which watched us for a moment before walking away.
Flowers were all around us at certain points closer to the cabin. Pietro pointed out several roses, a few daisies and a few Morning Glories. In short, it was the best place to be, both for the wild life and for us. I never wanted to leave, and I wished we could have stayed there forever!
Triston and I got up after another moment of sitting, and we went around looking to see if there were any rocks since he loved checking them out. We did find a few, one of which was a square shape, and a brown color that he described as looking like caramel. We stepped closer to where the lake was, and Pietro was on my left as I held on to Triston's belt while he walked along-side me on my right. We stood there at the lake's edge, and Triston motioned, making an excited sound.
"There are several ducks going by," Pietro said. "That's what he saw. There are also a few fish that are coming up, now they're going back under the water. One of them is a slight green, and the two others are a dark blue color."
"It really is beautiful here," I said. "I love how we have all these animals here around us. That's really special!"
"It definitely is," Pietro replied.
After another moment of admiring the lake, we returned back to the cabin and sat on the porch. There was a large porch swing to the right of the door, and three rocking chairs on the left side. Further over a couple of feet there sat two benches. And over where the swing was, there were two non-rocking chairs. The porch was a really large one, and I was glad that we had a lot of room there.
Pietro and I sat down on the porch swing, and Triston sat down beside us. Pietro was on my right and Triston was on my left. As we sat there, Bryan, Amy and Lexy came out, letting us know that they had their stuff unpacked. Lexy would be sleeping in one of the guest rooms, and Triston would be in the one beside it. Dad would be in his usual room he slept in, and Bryan and Amy would be sleeping in the living room on the pull-out bed that was in there. I was glad that the cabin was as large inside as it was so that we all could fit!
Eventually, Dad returned with groceries. I came out to help him bring them in, and Pietro along with Triston and Lexy, helped with putting everything where it needed to be. Once that was done, we all got ready for lunch. We would be having cold roast beef sandwiches along with potato salad and our choice of soda or juices. There were also various flavored waters. I was glad that we were getting lunch started, as I was really hungry. We did have breakfast as I mentioned a while ago, but it was a light and quick one.
We decided to eat out at one of the picnic tables that was to the right if you were standing with your back to the front door of the cabin. It was sunny out, but only 70 degrees, so not too hot. Pietro described the sky as having no clouds, so in short, it was the perfect day for eating outside!
The food was really good, and I was glad to see everyone enjoying themselves! It was really nice being there among my family and Pietro along with his family. We soon finished eating, and once everything was cleaned up, we all decided to go swimming in the lake.
Once changed into our swimming shorts, we all applied sun screen, then we headed towards the lake. The water was cool, and really felt good! Triston, Pietro and I swam laps and it quickly turned into us seeing who could beat the other. Lexy joined in, and soon though, we lost count of who was beating who, and just swam around enjoying the water!
Soon we all got out and dried off. Pietro and I got changed back into regular clothes, then let everyone know that we would be checking out some of the woods in back of the cabin. Triston was with Lexy looking for more rocks in the side yard of the property, and our parents were standing where they could see Pietro and I. As Pietro and I walked along, I could hear the birds in the trees, and I could even hear a few of them flying over-head.
"It's really quiet here," I said. "It seems even more so as we're walking further towards the trees."
"I've noticed that too," Pietro replied.
We walked along, smelling a few of the flowers that we found, and I loved the roses we came across. They smelled amazing, and Pietro loved them too! Soon, we came to a large oak tree, and we sat down resting our backs against it.
"This is absolute Heaven!" I said, taking Pietro's face in my hands then gently kissing him on the lips. "I'd love to live here with you forever if I could!"
He smiled, then returned my kiss.
"I feel the same way!" he replied. "It's really lovely being here with you like this, and with the calming woods all around us!"
"We'll definitely have to come back here again soon," I went on. "It would be even better if one day we could build a place for both of us to live when we're adults. I mean, it's not like I don't have the money to do it. I know that's a long way off, and that we're still kids, but it's still really nice to think about."
"It definitely is," Pietro answered. "I completely agree. I hope we can make that dream come true when we become adults at some point. If we ever had kids, I'd love to raise them in a place like this."
"I'd really love that too," I responded.
A silence ensued in that moment, and Pietro wrapped his arms around me. I snuggled into his embrace, and rested my head against his chest. I could have stayed like that forever being held by him! Soon though, I heard Dad calling us. We got up, then returned to where the others were.
"I was wondering if you guys wanted to swim again, or was there something else you wanted to do?" Dad asked.
We decided to go back in the water for a little while longer. Returning into the house to get my swim shorts on again, I checked the clock. I couldn't believe that it was almost 3:00 P.M. The day was going fast, but it was definitely a perfect one!
Triston joined Pietro and I in the water once again. We all swam laps for a while. Eventually though, we all just moved around in the water, enjoying the coolness of it. I know Triston was definitely loving being there at that moment. We did get back to swimming a few more laps, then soon Pietro let me know he was ready to get out. Triston and I swam a couple more times, then joined Pietro. Soon we all got showered and changed into regular clothes again.
Once we were dressed, Bryan and Amy called us into the living room. Dad was there, and they mentioned us all going bowling. I was really excited about that, and so was Pietro, Triston and Lexy. We all got in the car, then headed off.
I remembered the last time we went to the bowling alley the first time we came here. It was really fun, and I was so glad that we were going back once again! It didn't take long, and soon we were pulling into the parking lot. Shutting off the car, Dad was the first to exit. We all got out and we greeted Pietro's family as they exited their own car.
It was a little after 4:00 P.M. when we began our game, and everyone was doing really well with hitting the pins. Triston beat me a few times, then I beat him. Pietro managed to return the favor a couple of times. Lexy, Bryan, Amy and our dad were doing really well with their shots, and I congratulated them. We kept up the game for almost an hour, and when it was a little after 5:00 P.M., we finished the game. I ended up being the member of our group with the highest score, and everyone congratulated me!
Once back at the cabin, we all talked about what to do for dinner. We discussed it for a few minutes, then settled on pork chops, mashed potatoes and salad. The meat would be cooked outside on the grill just like the night before, and I couldn't wait to taste it! Going outside where the grill was, I helped Dad set everything up. We had the grill on the far-right side of the porch, and I got the lighter fluid pored, then Dad brought out the matches. Handing one to me and directing my hand, I lit it then dropped it.
The fire flamed up instantly, and I made sure to stand back.
"Good job," Dad complemented me.
"Thanks," I said. "I'm really enjoying helping out on the grill."
"You're welcome, and I'm happy to have you as my assistant," he replied.
"I'm sure the pork chops are going to be really good on the grill just like the steak was," I went on. "You did a really good job with that last night. I know I thanked you after we had dinner last night, but I wanted to say again how amazing the meat turned out!"
"I really appreciate that," Dad said, hugging me. "I'm so glad you liked it!"
After a few minutes, I helped with getting the meat set out on the grill. Once that was done, we went in and I asked Bryan if he needed help with the potatoes, and he said that he was doing fine with them, but he'd let me know. I did help out with getting the salad prepared, and that went really well.
Soon dinner was ready, and we all sat down to eat. Everything turned out truly amazing! The potatoes were really flavorful, and the chops were as good as the steak from the night before! The salad was also good, but I was definitely enjoying the meat and potatoes even more! I was glad to see how much Pietro and Triston were loving the food! Lexy complemented everyone on a job well done.
"I'm really glad you liked everything," I said.
"Me too," Lexy answered. "You did good with helping your dad on the grill."
"Thanks," I replied. "I'm glad you think so."
"I definitely do, and you're welcome," she responded.
We had pecan pie and vanilla ice cream for dessert. It was the perfect end to a wonderful meal! I was glad to see how much Pietro, Triston and everyone else were enjoying the dessert. Mostly though, I was just glad to be there among my family, Pietro and his family as well. It was the little things such as that which I truly loved and appreciated more than I could ever put into words. I told them this as we finished the pie and ice cream.
"I feel the same way," Bryan said.
"So do I," Amy added.
Lexy agreed also.
"I'm really glad to hear you say that Nohea," Dad responded. "I definitely love these moments as well. They mean everything to me!"
"I also feel the same," Triston added.
Pietro agreed, and I smiled with the joy of us all being together in that moment! Once everyone cleaned their bowls, we took them to the sink and I helped with the dishes, then we all went out onto the porch to sit and relax for a bit as the sun began setting. That was another peaceful and wonderful moment I was glad to experience with all of them!
Author's Notes
I hope everyone likes how things are going with Nohea and everyone as they enjoy their first day at the cabin. We'll continue on with their vacation in the next chapter, and I hope you like that and what all happens there as well. All that being said, I hope you're all doing well and having a good evening. I'll see you all in Chapter Two.
