The Wounds Within My Heart
Part Six
The Cabin
Chapter 12
Nohea
That week leading to our trip up to the cabin flew by. There was the usual school work, homework assignments and athletic activities we were doing that occupied most of that week. Finally, Friday was upon us, and Pietro and I finished the day totally ready to go!
Once back home, I made sure my bag was packed. Dad was in Triston's room going over his bag one last time, making sure that he had everything in it he would need. All was in order, and soon I heard a knock at the front door.
"I'll get it," I called out.
After checking to see who it was, I heard Bryan answer that it was him, Amy and Pietro. I smiled then opened the door. We all greeted each other as I let them in. They sat down in the living room and we visited for a few minutes.
"My dad and Triston will be down in a moment," I said. "Dad's just looking over his bag to make sure that Triston has all his stuff."
Good," Amy said.
"I really hope that you guys have a good time," Bryan added. "It sounds like a lot of fun."
"Thanks, I'm sure it will be," I replied. "What will you guys be doing over the weekend while we're gone?"
"We'll be going over Thanksgiving Day plans," Amy answered.
"It'll be here soon," Bryan said.
"That's right, it will be," I responded.
"Does David know what you're all going to be doing for Thanksgiving?" Bryan asked.
"Not yet," I said. "I had been meaning to ask him about that, but haven't had a chance to with everything going on."
"I understand," Amy said.
"We don't have a lot of family around here," Bryan said. "It'll probably be us, Pietro and Lexy at the house."
"If you all want to join us, you're more than welcome to," Amy added.
"Thanks," I said. "I'll talk with my dad and Aunt Beth. I'll see what they say about it."
Soon, David and Triston were coming down the stairs. David greeted Bryan, Amy and Pietro. Triston said hi to them as well, and after making sure that Pietro was all set, they hugged him. We all shared hugs with them as well, then they left to go back home. After dad checked the house once more, he said that we could go now. I went with Pietro and Triston out to the car. Dad followed us out a second later and locked the house. After the three of us got in the car, dad slid in behind the driver's seat and started it up. We were on our way and I was glad to be getting away that afternoon!
On the way there, Dad told us about the various things we could do in that area. The area where the cabin was located was near a small town which had a bowling alley and a couple of stores where you could buy different foods. They were mainly foods like hamburgers, hotdogs, potato salad and other things, including drinks, both sodas and alcoholic as well.
I was glad to hear that they had the bowling alley, as I had a lot of fun when I'd go bowling with Pietro and our other friends. That would also be really nice since it was colder now and the weather was calling for several spells of rain for that Friday night.
The weather also called for several thunder storms on all day Saturday and for most of the evening, so it was good that we had a few in-door activities from which we could choose. The most obvious activity for many people came to that area though was hunting and fishing. Dad liked to hunt some of the time, but like with most outdoor activities, that wasn't the weekend for it. Dad talked about him and a couple of his other male friends doing some hunting when the weather was a little better. He brought this up as we continued driving that afternoon.
"That'll probably be a weekend where I'd be at Pietro's house," I said smiling.
Guns and hunting weren't really my thing, and I appreciated my dad not trying to push that activity on me in all that time I had been living with him and Triston. Triston mentioned early on when I first came to live with them that he wasn't into guns due to sensory issues. That made sense, and like with me, Dad didn't push it with him either.
"I'll probably be doing that next weekend," dad said. "I'll let you know though.
"Well, you hunt it, we'll eat it," I said.
"Absolutely," Pietro added.
Triston agreed, and dad said he'd probably be bringing back some deer meat and other things that they might find out there.
"That sounds good," I replied.
"It definitely does," dad agreed. "First things first though, we have this weekend to enjoy. After that, we have Thanksgiving coming up towards the end of next week."
"We do," I said. "Do you know what you wanted to do for the holiday?"
"I've talked to Aunt Beth a couple of days ago about it," Dad answered. "She's opened to suggestions."
"When you were checking Triston's bag before we left the house earlier, Bryan and Amy said that you, Aunt Beth and all of us could come to their house for Thanksgiving," I said.
"They brought that up to me a couple of nights ago," Pietro said. "I'll let them know what you say, if or when you decide to come over."
"That's really nice of them, as well as you," David said. "I'll talk to Aunt Beth, and we'll go from there."
"How would you feel about that Triston?" I asked turning to him.
He was on my left and Pietro was on my right. We were all three in the back seat.
"Will it be loud there?" Triston asked.
"I don't think so," Pietro said. "It'll be my mom, dad and I. Well, then it would also be Aunt Beth, David and Nohea there with us too. I don't see us all making a lot of noise, and the TV if it's on wouldn't be playing loudly or anything like that."
"I think it would be fun to go over there," Triston replied.
"I think so too," David added.
Me too," I said.
"I'll talk to Aunt Beth when we get up to the cabin," David said.
After about ten more minutes of driving, we were at the place. Dad shut off the car, then got out. Pietro was next, then I scooted to the end and climbed out. Triston exited out of the left side, then came around to join us.
After I helped with getting our bags out of the trunk of the car, I closed it. Dad and I carried mine, his and Pietro's bags so Pietro could balance and walk more easily. Triston carried his own bag, and we waited until Dad got the door unlocked. Once it was unlocked and opened, he entered the cabin. We followed behind him, and he took all our bags and placed them in the living room.
When first entering the cabin, there was a long hallway that had two rooms on the right side. The first one was the restroom, and the second was the kitchen. On the left was two closets side-by-side. The first one was for coats, and the second one was for blankets, sheets and pillow cases.
At the end of the hallway was a doorway beyond which was a large living room. It had two large couches sitting across from each other with a large coffee table in the center of the room. Where the wall was across from you, if standing in the doorway, the big screen TV sat. To the right of it was a large stereo cabinet where the stereo and speakers sat.
On the left of the TV was a cabinet in which countless DVDs sat. Back at the beginning of the living room, on the right while standing in the doorway, was a recliner facing the TV. Beside it was a table with a lamp. There was a table sitting beside the arm rest of the couches as well, and a lamp sat on each one.
To the left of the TV and DVD cabinet, there was another hallway. There were four rooms within it. Two were across from each other when you entered the space. The second two were at the end straight ahead and beside each other. They were the four bedrooms. They were all really cozy-looking.
Dad had the bedroom that was at the end of the hall on the right. He told us that we could decide which rooms we wanted. Pietro and I looked at the three other rooms. Triston went over by the room that was right next to Dad's. I remembered him saying that that was his room. This left the two other rooms. Pietro and I had to choose one since we would be sleeping in the same bed.
Pietro checked out the room on the left when first entering the hall. I checked it out as well, then we looked at the one across from it. It was a larger room, and the windows looked out on a large patch of grass and a huge row of trees close by. The room also had a full bathroom in it. After asking Pietro, he gave one tap.
"So you definitely like this room?" I asked.
"I really do," he typed.
"Me too," I answered.
We got our bags unpacked, and after putting our clothes in the closet, we went out into the living room where dad was texting with Aunt Beth. I sat down, and Pietro joined me on the couch. Triston was in his room putting away his own clothes. It was really nice to be there, and I felt at peace immediately when we walked through the door. This feeling only increased as we continued being there. I leaned back against the couch while Pietro took me in his arms.
Just then I heard Triston enter the living room. He came up to where Pietro and I were, and he gently took hold of my arm. That usually meant that he wanted me to come with him somewhere.
"I'll be back in a moment," I said kissing Pietro on the forehead.
We walked into his room and he needed help with getting the bed made. I helped him with that, then he went over to his bag that contained his sensory toys. I heard him moving things around, and I knew that at the bottom of the bag was a weighted blanket he sometimes used. It was for one of two reasons. He would use it either to try and calm down to prevent a melt-down, or to keep a feeling of calm about him that was already there.
Walking back over to the bed, he sat down then removed his shoes and socks. He didn't like wearing them, and I could now hear him making slightly soft frustrated sounds. It was definitely time for them to come off.
"I'm sure you're glad to have those off now," I said as he placed his shoes down on the floor and his socks beside them.
He made a sound of relief, then he moved so he could lay down full-length. He put his blanket on himself and lay on his side. He then sat up then moved to the edge of the bed again.
"Are you alright?" I asked.
He stood up and then I realized what he was doing. He had forgotten to remove his fidget belt. This is a special kind of silicone belt that gives a certain amount of pressure around the hips. It can help with keeping kids calm in situations that can either be too stimulating or stressful. Triston kept his fidget belt on throughout the day, and it did a good job with helping him remain calm while at school.
Once he removed it, he handed it to me. I put it in his bag and he lay back down, covering himself with his weighted blanket once again.
"Do you need some time to relax?" I asked.
I was sure that he did, but I wanted to make sure so I could let Dad and Pietro know.
"Yeah," he replied.
"Okay, I'll be in the living room. I'll let Pietro and Dad know where you're at," I replied.
He thanked me, and after shutting off the light, I returned to the living room and told Dad and Pietro that Triston needed some time to decompress.
"That's fine," Dad said. "I need to get some stuff from the store. You and Pietro can stay back if you want."
"I'd like that," I said.
"So would I," Pietro added.
"Good," Dad replied. "Also, I just finished texting with Aunt Beth, then with your parents Pietro. They'd love to have us all over for Thanksgiving next Thursday."
"That sounds really good!" Pietro answered.
"I'm really looking forward to it!" I said.
"So am I," Dad added as he got his coat back on. "I'll be back soon."
"Okay," we both said as he opened then closed the door to the cabin.
I leaned back against the couch, and Pietro took me in his arms. We hadn't had much of a chance to be like this over the last couple of days. Homework was mainly the reason for that. So now as I rested in Pietro's arms, I felt myself growing more and more relaxed. Pietro lightly stroked my hair, and kissed me a couple of times on the forehead and then on the lips.
"This is really relaxing," I said. "I'm glad to finally be sitting and not having to rush off somewhere. More than that though, it's just really nice to be here with you, resting in your arms. I always love that."
Pietro made a happy sound, then I pressed my lips to his. We shared several warm and long kisses, then gazed deeply into each other's eyes.
After another moment of that, Pietro let me go and got his device.
"I truly feel myself falling more and more in love with you every day we spend time together, Nohea," he typed. "You're the missing part of me, and you really do complete me in ways I can hardly put into words. I couldn't ever love another boy; not like how I love you. You truly are the love of my life, and always will be."
"I feel the same way Pietro," I said, then kissed him tenderly on the lips. "I can't ever see myself without you by my side, and I'm more in love with you than I could ever have thought possible. You're also the love of my life, and you always will be. I want us to spend the rest of our lives together, and I want us to grow old together."
"I want that as well," he replied. "You're my everything Nohea."
"You're my everything as well Pietro," I answered.
Pietro put aside his device, and we hugged each other while sharing several deep and passionate kisses that soon eased into soft gentle ones. After that we just held each other while reclining against the back of the couch. It was truly Heaven being there with the love of my life in that moment!
