The Tyler I knew - Chapter 5

The clock on the nightstand said 7:47 as Tyler awoke the next morning. He laid there staring around the room, thinking about all the wonderful things that have happened in just the last few days. It was almost as if he were dreaming. It had to be a dream and he was still stuck in it. He didn't care though. It was wonderful. It was like he had a new family to love, and to love him.

"It's about time you wake up!" Andy said as he entered the room.

"Not everyone is as energetic in the morning as you!" Tyler shot back with a smile.

"It takes plenty of practice and a persistent uncle!" Andy said walking up to Tyler's side of the bed.

"But I don't like waking up without you!" Tyler said with a frown, pulling Andy down next to him giving him embracing him into a hug..

Andy lifted back up and stared into Tyler's eyes with a smile. "Good morning beautiful!"

"Morning!" Tyler said, pulling Andy so he was lying directly on top of him.

"Someone is in a good mood this morning!" Andy said, leaning in for a much longer and more passionate kiss.

"I love you!" Andy said, lifting his head away moments later. "Are you hungry? I made breakfast!"

Tyler shook his head "Very!"

"Good! Get yourself up and meet me downstairs, Uncle Mark left something for you. And I made breakfast. I hope you like pancakes."

It wasn't long before the two were in the kitchen eating. Both of them as happy as can be. Tyler had different reasons for the good feelings he was having. It hadn't been many times he was able to sit at a table with someone and have a peaceful meal.

"Do you want more?" Andy asked hopefully.

"No thanks! You said you had something for me, what is it?"

"Oh, ok. here" Andy said, handing Tyler an envelope

It wasn't anything special, just a normal looking envelope that one would mail a payment in. It was somewhat thick, and had Tyler's name on the front of it. He opened it up, taking small glances at Andy who was sitting across the table with a very meaningful smile. Inside he found a note, stuffed in with something green.

Tyler started to panic "There is money in here!"

"Just read the letter before you start getting all worked up, alright?"

Tyler pulled out the letter and slowly unfolded it, then read..

Tyler,

I'm sure by now you've seen the money inside, but I want to explain a few things to you before I get into all of that. When Andy brought you here the other day I had noticed something changed in him that I had never seen before. He's not a depressed kid, just constantly worried. He appeared to be happy for once. Almost as if it had all went away. He's told me a few things about you, however I am sure not everything by the way he said some of it. I know about your mom, and the problems you and her have which is why I am making these offers. One of which you have already agreed to, and I will be more than happy to have you working with all of us. The next one is just as importaint to all of us. He told me he took you to get some clothes from your house. So I hope you plan on staying here as long as you want. In fact, I am making yet another offer. The offer is to let you live here. You don't have the greatest place to call home right now, so I am willing to let you call this yours. I know right now you're probably wondering how we are going to get by your mom with all of this. There was something I didn't tell you the other day. In order for you to work for me your mother is going to have to sign some release papers. I am pretty sure I have all this worked out and plan on dealing with it on my own, so just trust me.

Alright let's start on a much happier subject. Shopping! I know you like to shop, what young person doesn't these days? Inside the envelope is $300.00. Think of it as a loan. We will work out later how it will be paid back. But for now it's all yours. There are a few things I want you to get with it first though. Andy has been told to take you to town to get a few things you will need while here, mainly just items for the job. Attached is a list..

I hope you don't get upset over all this, because none of us mind. In fact we are all very happy to have you hear and will do any thing we can to make it better for you. Please make sure you get everything on the list!

I'll see you when we all get home later. Have a great day and please don't worry about a thing!

Uncle Mark.

Uncle Mark? And what made him think it was going to be that easy to convence his mother to let him work somewhere else, let alone MOVE there!

"You alright?" Andy spoke up, snapping Tyler out of his thoughts.

Tyler nodded.

Good, if you're done with the note, read the rest.

Tyler went to the next page and read.

Here are the items you will need.

Nextel Cell phone. - You will need this because it's what we use to communicate. I will be contacting the phone store to let them know you two will be coming. You can pick out the phone you like but keep in mind you will be doing hard work so make sure you get a strong cell phone.

Boots, work clothes and shirts. - We don't want you working in good clothes so make sure they are just plain pants and shirts. The boots will need to be steel toed. Make sure you get comfortable ones, no matter how expensive.

Permit Packet from License Department. - Sorry to say that you will have to get your license, and the sooner the better. I also want you to stop at the Drivers-Ed school and pick up and application.

The rest of the money is yours to use. By yourself something nice with it. You deserve it. I'll see you later, and again, have a great day.

"Are you a slow reader or have you read that thing more than once?" Andy said. making his presence apparent yet again.

He was right however. Tyler had in fact read the attached note a couple times. "I don't know, it just all seems like a lot. I don't get why you all feel you have to do all this."

"It's because we want to." Andy said, simply. "So let's get moving, we have a lot of things to get done today before you have to be at work. Do you want to shower first?"

"No, that's alright. You go ahead. I'll clear this mess." Tyler said, still looking at the envelope and it's contents.

Andy started laughing. "Tyler, I already have."

Tyler looked up. His and Andy's plate was gone, nothing else left on the table and everything was back to it's normal place. "Oh. Well, you go ahead. I'll be up in a few."

Andy stood up and walked towards the stairs. But was stopped before he exited the kitchen.

"Andy. Thank you." Tyler said looking up at him.

Andy turned around and walked behind Tyler, wrapping bother arms around him. "No, thank you for making my life that much better! And I only hope I can do the same fore you."

"I will be here to pick you up when you get off. Have a good day." Andy said as he pulled the car in a parking spot. "I programmed my cell phone number in your phone, and you already know how to use it. Don't hesitate to call me if you need anything.

"I will." Tyler said with a smile has he leaned over and gave Andy a kiss. Then exited the car.

The day had gone by so fast, and already Tyler was walking into a place he considered to be his "Second hell". He had very good reason to, because a minuet had gone by before he had already wished he didn't show.

"Tyler!" A voice came from behind him as he walked to the back to put his things up. "Where were you yesterday?"

"What do you mean?" Tyler retorted.

"You were supposed to work yesterday, and you didn't show!"

"It wasn't on my schedule."

"It's on ours! This is the last chance you get. If it happends again your gone!" The manager stated. "Go get ready, I want you in the Drive-Thru tonight. Get moving"

What an asshole! Tyler thought. It wasn't the first time the guy had changed his schedule after Tyler had already copied it down.

"Oh, I need to talk to you sometime tonight. It's really important." Tyler yelled back at him as he walked through the kitchen.

At fifteen till 11 Tyler was more than ready to leave. "I need to talk to you!" Tyler said as he walked up to the manager.

"What?" The grumpy old man said as Tyler walked in the office."

"Well, I found another job. So I guess this means I am turning in my two-week notice."

The manager looked Tyler over a moment. This always made Tyler feel uncomfortable. The manager had a long nose, puffy white eyes, and a look of disgust he always wore.

"Well, I guess there's no need for that." The manager said. "Just don't bother coming back at all." He said simply.

"Sounds good to me!" Tyler said. "I'll bring my things in when I come to get my check." And with that, he walked out of the office and right out the front door.

"You're out early!" Andy said as he pulled up next to Tyler. "Everything alright?"

"Yep, just fine!" Tyler said, and meaning it. "I think I just got fired."

"Let me guess. You told him that you were turning in your two-weeks?"

"Yep! The asshole didn't like it or something. He told me not to bother coming back in. So I told him I would bring in my things when I returned to get my check."

"Sounds good!" Andy said, looking nervous. "Look. There is someone at the house, and well. I'm not supposed to say anything, not even that. Uncle Mark wanted to talk to you about it before me. I just wanted you to prepare yourself for another one of those. surprises. K?"

"Who's there?"

"I can't say. Just. prepare yourself." Andy said looking even more nervous.

He was not officially worried again. Who was there? His mom? Why would she come? Surely she wouldn't leave the house unless it involved drugs or something else to benefit her.

It didn't take long to get back, mainly because he was lost in thought the whole way. As the two walked up on the porch, Tyler gave Andy a nervous look then opened the door.

"What are you doing here?" was the first words out of his mouth as he seen a girl sitting on the couch looking rather upset.

There sat the last person he ever expected to see there. his sister, Erica.

*** I really do wish I had more time to write more at once, but I guess I am just as impatient as some of you. So here is Chapter 5. Thanks again for the emails, keep em comin!*** andy_9529 @yahoo.com
