The Truth on Love Chapter 3

Blake sat there waiting for Devin's conscience to recover. He had a stereotypical cool guy pose with arms crossed and an emotionless look. On the outside it may have seemed that he could care less for this random kid sitting in front of him. But on the inside, he sad a sort of caring attitude towards him.

Blake shook his head in an attempt to ignore that mentality towards him. 'You're starting to care too much,' thought Blake.

He was startled when he noticed Devin moving in the bed. The nurse came in and gave him a quick checkup.

"Well it seems like someone finally woke up. How are you feeling?" asked the nurse.

Devin looked around and spotted Blake looking over at him from a chair. "My head kind of hurts," he said and redirected his attention to the nurse.

"I'm going to give you some pain killers and hopefully that will bring down your headache. Although you might need some help going to and from class. I don't want you falling again and hitting your head," said the nurse.

Blake looked up and said, "I can take you back to the locker room."

"Okay, here are the pills." The nurse handed Devin the pills.

Devin swallowed the pills and got to his feet.

"Be careful," said the nurse.

Blake walked close to Devin to be able to catch him in case he fell.

They reached the locker room and Blake prepared to change. Any other day, Devin would steal occasional glances over at Blake, but he wasn't feeling as well.

As Blake slid his shirt off, Devin started wobbling and fell backwards onto Blake. Blake caught him and helped him regain his balance.

Devin faced Blake and laid his head on Blake's bare chest. His palms rested on Blake's stomach. He could feel the six bumps guys tried so hard to achieve. Blake's skin was radiating heat. He wished he could stay like this until his headache went away. Devin could feel Blake's heart start to beat faster. He shouldn't be doing this, it's not right.

Devin pulled away slowly, making sure he stayed on his feet. Blake looked away and continued to change. Nothing else was said between the two and when Blake finished dressing he said, "I guess I'll see you later. Hope you get better" and left.

Devin sitting on the bench, got up and walked to the cafeteria. There's a reason Blake didn't accompany Devin to the cafeteria, he had a reputation to hold up.

"Oh my gosh, are you okay?" asked Carmen. Carmen was almost like a sister to Devin. They had been best friends since the first grade and have never gotten into fights between each other. The ideal friendship.

"Yeah, I just hit my head hard. I should be fine with some bed rest," Devin responded.

"You should thank Trevor for beating the guy that threw the ball at you. I felt so bad for him, but then I remembered what he did," said Caroline.

"Wait, did Trevor get in trouble?" asked Devin.

"Yeah, he's in the Principal's office. Wait where are you going? Devin, you need to eat," yelled Carmen. But Devin was already out the door.

He entered the office and spotted Trevor. He had his head down. It reminded him of that kid he saw at the library.

He sat down next to Trevor and said, "You really didn't have to do that."

"You obviously wouldn't have done it. You're too nice and would have put up with it. You're my friend and no one should even dare lay a finger on you. You're like a brother to me. It would be a sin to not care about you."

This brought a smile to Devin. He felt so loved with his group of friends. He was lucky for having people that care so much about him. Although he sometimes takes them for granted.

The principal came out of her office and said, "Alright, I'll let you off the hook with a warning just because no one got hurt too badly. I don't want to see it happen again. Understand?"

"Yes," said Devin answering for quiet Trevor.

As they got up and started to leave, Devin noticed the kid at the library. He was in the Principal's office. `I wonder why he's in her office,' thought Devin to himself.

Drew had heard about Devin's incident earlier. He had so much anger bottled up in him. He wish he could beat the guy to pieces but he decided that it would only make things worse. He took a deep breath and walked over to where Devin's locker was.

"Hello, my name is Drew and I would be glad to be your assistant this afternoon. Let me take those for you." Drew took Devin's books and walked alongside of him.

"How are you feeling?" asked Drew.

"Good. And you?" Devin returned the question.

Drew looked at him weird. "Why do you ask that?"

"Just asking is all." Devin smiled.

Drew chose to let if go. He set Devin's books down on the desk.

"Thank you."

"No, thank YOU," said Drew with a smile. "I was wondering if you'd like to hang out after school or something." Drew wasn't really expecting an answer, but it was worth a try.

"I don't know. I'll let you know after school ends."

"Okay, see ya." There was that brilliant smile of Drew. Devin couldn'thelp but to also smile.

"So are you going to hang out with him or what?" asked Carmen.

"Stop eavesdropping. Nosy," said Devin pointing his finger to her nose.

She shooed him away.

"I can't help but feel like he enjoys being with you. Which is weird because it's out of his original social circle." .... "Fine don't answer me," said Carmen, a little irritated.

"Sorry, my head just hurts." Devin lay his head down and passed out.
