Chapter 10 Help Me
The Shadow made his way to the first hotel on the list. He dared not let any more time slip away than was necessary. He wouldn't let what happened to Amit and Dhani happen to anyone else. There hadn't been any new information on who wanted their cum or why it was needed. All he knew was that Nick was going to be next. He didn't know how he knew, but he just knew deep down that something was going on.
'I'm getting a knack for this type of stuff,' he thought. 'I learned it when I met Dhani and Amit. And it's possible whoever wanted their cum will want Nick's. I'm almost sure of it.
'Plus, this is how I can serve penance for what I've done. I deserve to be punished, after all.'
The Shadow arrived at the first hotel and snuck inside as he had done before, changing from his shadowy costume for that of a housekeeper. He headed up to the floor where this Nick Carter was supposed to be. It wasn't too far up the skyscraper denoting some type of lower rate for the room. 'Not something Nick would want, is it?' he thought. 'Better to be safe than sorry, though.'
Using the key card, he entered the hotel room and found an older gentleman sitting at the desk. The man turned and looked up at him.
"Sorry, sir," the Shadow said. "I didn't realize you were in."
"It's all right," the man said. "You can go ahead and clean, restock the bathroom, and all that."
The Shadow nodded and went ahead making the bed, taking the dirty towels and filling the shelves with new ones. Once his "job" was finished, he left and went back downstairs to the laundry, where he dropped everything off, changed into his costume, and went back out to the next hotel.
Harris and Roy were practicing some more. Harris gave all that he had in learning defensive moves, blocks, and tumbles. Making the pain his motivator encouraged him all the more.
"Did you love him?" Roy asked as he took a swing at Harris.
"Who?" Harris replied as he ducked underneath the punch and rolled on the floor passed Roy.
"The mutant you dated."
"Yes," Harris replied rolling to his back.
Roy turned and put his foot on Harris's throat. "Got you. Nothing you can do now except die." Roy removed his foot and helped Harris up. "Do you still love him?"
Harris looked down.
"It isn't a crime if you do. That happens to couples often. One will cheat on the other for whatever reason. It doesn't make it right, it just is."
"Why do I still love him, though? The hurt inside me is just as great as how much I love him. I feel so conflicted."
"You have two options, Harris. You can go back to him and try to work things out. Or you can make a clean break of it and move on with your life. You being here tells me you want to make a clean break. Either that or you are running from him hoping that you will succeed in running from your feelings. Problem is your feelings are inside you."
"When I picture his face, I am filled with anger and pain. At the same time, I feel love and..."
"Lust?"
"Yeah, I guess. I just love everything about him, from his insides to his outsides."
"Hotties with good character do that to you. It isn't uncommon for what you are feeling. Just don't turn into the freak. For whatever reason, he has lost all touch with his feelings. And now it is manifesting as obsession with helping these stars who probably don't need help. You don't want to end up like him."
"I don't think that's his problem. I think he genuinely wants to help."
"You're very naive. Maybe your ex-boyfriend didn't care about you at all. Maybe he was being kind and, when the opportunity arose for him to have sex with some really hot guys, he took it. It could be his way of letting you go."
Harris became angered at Roy and took a swing at him. Roy wasn't expecting it and Harris hit him square in the jaw. Roy tumbled backwards and clutched his chin.
"Fuck, that hurt!" he said as he rubbed his jaw. "Good. Get pissed off. Then you can be a force to be reckoned with. Maybe you need to punch your ex. That might get the hurt and pain out of your system so you can move on with your life."
Roy turned and walked away leaving a very pissed off Harris behind.
The Shadow left the second hotel and made his way toward the third and final one. 'This should be it. I know for a fact Nick Carter is in town. I saw him earlier.'
The Shadow, having gotten tired of changing into housekeeper uniforms went through the front door and up the elevator to the 1100th floor. 'According to Harris's printout, he should be in room 1169.' Walking up and down the corridor, the Shadow finally came to room 1169 and leaned in to listen. He didn't think Nick would be here. 'Most celebrities like to party and get laid. Marie attested to that when she said the A-Teens normally went out after every concert.'
The Shadow turned and found himself staring at Nick Carter, who was running down the corridor.
"Help me!" he called out as he neared. "They are after me!"
The Shadow, knowing who was after Nick, pulled out his pistols and took aim at Nick's pursuers. 'No more Mister Nice Guy,' he thought to himself.
Nick got to his door and put in his key trying to unlock the door.
Several people came around the corner, screaming at Nick. The Shadow almost fired but caught himself when he realized it was a cadre of girls. The girls, once seeing the gun, screamed louder, only this time it wasn't in excitement, but in fear. They also stopped in their tracks and turned to run the other way.
"Come on in!" Nick said as he opened the door.
The Shadow turned and entered. Nick slammed the door and locked all the locks, including the chain. He leaned against the door breathing hard as the Shadow replaced his pistols.
"Thanks," Nick said catching his breath. "That was crazy!"
"Uh, you're welcome," the Shadow stammered.
"Have a seat," Nick replied after making sure the locks were fastened. "Can I get you something to drink?" he offered as he entered the kitchen.
"No, thanks." The Shadow was taken back by the nonchalant attitude Nick had. 'He's a superstar. Why would he talk with me like this?'
"I don't see many like you any more."
"What do you mean?"
"Masked superhero types. I used to live in Orlando. We had several running around down there. Now there are only two, but we had around four or five. And there were a couple in Los Angeles. In fact, one of them moved from L.A. to Orlando." Nick noticed the look on the Shadow's face. "Haven't you run into any up here in New York?"
"Only recently," the Shadow answered.
"You guys don't have a secret club or something? Hmm, with the way comic books seem to make it out to be, I figured all of you would have had something like that in real life."
"Well, I wouldn't consider myself a superhero, really."
"Oh, why not?" Nick entered from the kitchen with a drink. He sat down next to the Shadow, really close to the Shadow, actually, and looked deep into the Shadow's goggle-covered eyes. "You look like you would meet the criteria for a superhero. You're masked, look good in a cape, just saved me a few minutes ago, and got me all hot and bothered."
The Shadow glanced down at the growing bulge in Nick's pants. His eyes widened underneath the goggles, but Nick could see.
"Here, I'll prove it too you." Without hearing a response, Nick unbuttoned his pants and pulled out his swelling 8-inch long, 6-inch thick cock. Precum oozed out of the head and he wiggled it back and forth. "That's what you superheroes do to me. So you can't really tell me otherwise. This is how I respond to you guys."
"This isn't appropriate," the Shadow replied standing, tearing his eyes away from the thick, juicy cock, even though deep down he wanted it.
"What isn't appropriate about it?"
"All of this. You don't even know me yet you offer yourself to me. If you had a significant other, you wouldn't be doing this."
"Oh, nonsense," Nick said as he waved his hand dismissively. "Of course I would do this. In fact, if you want," Nick stuffed his cock back into his pants as best he could, "you could join my boyfriend and I for a night of hot sex."
The Shadow could not believe his ears.
"Are you sure you want to do this? You really want to get involved in this kid's personal life?" Roy asked.
"It's what we do," Robert replied as he found the letter 'M' and then looked for the name. "Maybe it was under 'B'," he said out loud.
"This kid doesn't seem to want any help. Look at how he lives. Did he mention if he had any friends? I don't think he does. The guy who runs the place doesn't even seem like a friend."
"Like I said, Roy. It's what we do. Ah, here it is," Robert replied after finding the name he was looking for. Picking up the phone, he dialed the number.
"What if this guy isn't home? Doesn't he have a life?"
"Why are you so adamant about not helping this guy?"
"I don't know," Roy replied. "It just seems like you are taking an awfully personal interest in him."
"I'm doing it to help him."
"If you say so."
The other line picked up and a voice said, "Hello?"
"Hi, Eric. It's me, Robert."
