The Schuyler Fortune VI: A Throuple of Bums-4
As they lay recovering, Liam thanked Mateo.
"Thank you, buddy. I was beginning to think I would never get to do that with anyone...and then there you were in Starbucks. By the way, tell me about communication in our throuple."
"Would you be comfortable letting Ben and I know if there are any topics that make you feel squirmy or even angry if we bring them up?
"I was thinking I would ask Ben the same question and perhaps one of you could ask me as well."
"Good for you, Liam. We'll probably think of more stuff to sort out before long. To answer you now, let's get together, the three of us tonight, for a 'Comm' meeting and answer that first question and make a list of others to think about. Would that work for you?"
It worked for Liam. "Just a heads up, lover, you can mention anything you want to me. I guess I would feel more respected if none of our conversations got used in a conversation with Paulo. Not being in the throuple, he might not appreciate being discussed or even knowing that our intimate details...he paused..."Will you be offended if I respect his privacy and just agree to skirt around the details?"
"No, not at all for me, at least. Ben will want to pitch in his own ideas, I'd guess. I love that you are thinking about Paulo's feelings. That reflects so well on how you might describe, or not, our throuple's activities to anyone else. You're a champion, man. I can't believe this, but I'm horny for you again. How does your hole feel about that idea?"
"I'm going to stagger around today anyway. I think you have a cock with a mind of its own and a body to drive it. Best of all, you've a lover's heart to guide it."
"Insert in slot A... " Liam cracked up and began to assemble the 'package'.
That afternoon, the financial team having assembled, the IT guys worked at first to make sure the conference software worked OK and then left the room. Liam led off, thanking everyone for their time.
"Thank you for 'being' here for me today. I already am acquainted with Ben, Paulo, and Mateo and look forward to getting to know you three others soon."
Speaking rapidly, clearly and moving to topic, Liam went on.
"Put clearly, I am a financial novice who has been living hand to mouth under poverty guidelines for some years. I am used to living on a small paycheck from post office employment. I had good benefits there which helped, medical insurance, very small 401-K, sick time, vacation time, union benefits too with flexible work times and others. I will need one of you to sign me up for similar benefits I need now even though I'll have to pay for them."
"Paulo has done fine work with my capital and re-investments and his firm provided me with a device that enables me to see at a glance that progress."
"Ronald Baker is our tax planner, Jim MacLeish has consented to be our accountant, and Charley Trim will be our CFP. That's Ben Dewey, my attorney there waving up on the screen and Paulo Schuyler-Jones smiling on the screen as well. Can everyone see and hear each other well?"
They all indicated they could.
"I would appreciate your taking notes as you think needed. Jim, if you can, would you be the note contact point for the team. If the team agrees, we'll all email our notes through a VPN to Jim at his email address, which he should provide to you later today. I don't care which VPN you use. That way, I can look at them and teach myself something. If you object, email me.
"At first, I expect to be a nervous micromanager. Live with it. It's the nature of the newcomer to finance, the father hen thing, I mean. I'm sure your hard work will mellow me out over time. My expectations for you are as high as you and your companies are getting paid. That being said, you all come with Mateo's highest recommendations."
"Let me have the floor for another few minutes and I'll shut up and we'll go around the circle. I expect we'll be done here in an hour. If we need to take a break for a coke or something, raise your hand and wave or just absent yourself if the need arises."
"First, I think that this group needs to consider the structure of my assets. If it needs to be said, I want to stick with Schuyler bank. Some options might include a trust or group of them, an LLC possibly or something better. Ronald, would you consult with the group this week and take point on that please? Shortly, I'll need a tax plan with details fleshed out and perhaps this can be a part of that."
"Second, Ben is already thinking about legal challenges to Mr. Gratz's will and ways to defend it."
"Third, it would be a good idea, if Paulo doesn't object, to have Jim have access to the information he needs to properly account for the structure we set up. The reporting forms to the state and the various federal government agencies need to be centralized in Paulo's office, I think, and I would like you, Jim, to take point on monitoring those required form's timely submissions, a double check for me and Paulo.
The structure that we choose will affect the 'books' that need to be set up and kept current. Jim and Paulo's office need to work very closely together and smoothly. I don't want to hear that anyone can't do their work because another team member's office hasn't cooperated.
"Fourth, I would like Charlie to submit a financial plan within two weeks...submit it formally to me. I'm not an expert as I said, but I learned to read some years ago so look forward to the actual plan.
I'm open to your sending the plan digitally, in fact prefer that over a large folder or printed binder of papers.
"Fifth, I expect that all of you will communicate with other team members as you point and prepare, keeping in mind that I value kind relationships on my team, honesty, loyalty to task, and confidentiality. You have all signed non-disclosure forms which have post-contract implications.
I highly value my financial privacy as you can imagine. I don't value formal or informal sharing of my circumstances or my personal life outside this team."
Liam told them his ten minutes were up and wanted to hear their cheery voices for ten minutes or less apiece, keeping in mind this was a first meeting with a limited agenda.
He sat back and listened then, taking the odd note to record a thought or an idea, then resuming his full attention quickly to the speaker.
All of the team appeared professional and alert and seemed to agree that structure dictated much of the functions of the team. After the conference was over and the IT crew had dismantled the apparatus, Mateo sat and looked at Liam, his head cocked, his eyebrows raised a bit in disbelief.
"You have no business experience? Really? I know of any number of idiots who run their own businesses who didn't begin out of the starting gate like you did. You're a natural! This team will be a powerhouse for you. They know what you want, know your expectations of quality, and you managed all of them with a kind firmness."
"I love you, Liam," Mateo continued. "Your mind might have been a business tabula rasa, but someone somewhere wrote on that blank tablet. I would have appreciated knowing your bio father. Wonder if he's still alive."
"Dunno. Haven't ever tried to contact him or my second father that I actually remember. The third step-dad is pushing up daisies somewhere. Never went to his grave."
"Would you be averse to meeting your bio dad or your first step-dad?"
"No, actually. I never had the time or energy to look and besides I didn't know if they would be proud of me. Still don't know."
Mateo put it on his mental to-do list and said no more.
"Would you care if I called you 'Mat' for short, Mateo?"
"No."
"Let me use it in a sentence. 'I love you, Mat'. Sound OK to you?"
"It's music to my ears, lover... "
"I'll use it unless we're with others or out in public, then."
Ben got home from work about four p.m. Mateo and Liam gave him some chill time for an hour, then talked to him about his day and told them about their idea for a 'Comm' meeting once a week until they got tired of it.
Ben brightened right up.
"I've been wondering about the rules for this throuple too. Is it ok if I throw out an idea?"
After getting nods, "What would you think about all of us making a quick list of the issues that might come up and comparing lists?"
"If the issue arises on all of the lists, we could prioritize that to talk about."
It seemed reasonable, so three lists were written out and compared. Issues were pretty much limited to sex, permission, informing, schedules, lovers outside the throuple, testing, condoms, and telling.
All agreed that permission wasn't needed, that sex within their triad could happen without one member being present, that the third guy in that instance didn't have to be informed, but if he was present in the room doing something else, it would be polite to go to another room and continue or at least give the third person an offer to join in.
If a member had jealousy or other feelings, the person was to say so and be heard with respect.
They agreed that the throuple was closed at this point, but if one asked permission to do an attractive man elsewhere on occasion, condoms had to be used and the rest of the throuple notified when and what occurred the same day or the next morning and that event could not take place in the museum. They decided that was an initial rule subject to change.
Paulo's name came up, delicately, and both Ben and Liam agreed that Paulo's wishes were to be respected and agreed to share Mat and fill in for him on the schedule with each other if Mat and Paulo had a night planned. They agreed that a couple could scratch off their night if they wanted to after talking about it. If a throuple man wanted to fill in the gap, so to speak, he was welcome to ask, but not demand or pressure. The schedule was meant to be a guide only.
They also decided to respect Paulo and Mat's privacy completely, not asking or discussing it unless the twin's brought it up together.
They all agreed that HIV and SID testing initially was a good idea followed by six-month interval testing just to preserve their health. After testing initially showed negative status, they would dispense with condoms unless an outside contact was reported.
Ben volunteered to put a tentative nightly schedule up to be changed prior to the final schedule and probably changed on the day if someone was called out of town or something else happened. The only rule about the calendar was that no one could change it without the consent of all three for any one day in advance after the permanent copy went up on the board.
Liam volunteered to order prep equipment, condoms and toys, input welcomed prior to ordering. Mat thought that would be great and perhaps they should also visit one of New York City's great sex stores to shop too. That idea went over big.
Liam wanted Alan to know and his co-workers. Otherwise, no one wanted to advertise, particularly. It was their business.
Then they were tired of rules. Mat got a glint in his eye. "We ought to declare to each other what we do and don't do."
"Can't think of anything," came two replies from the others, tearing off clothes as fast as they could.
"Ben, I have to tell you that our Liam has and is a monster in bed. My ass is still tender from this morning."
"Pity that," laughed Ben, "I'll have to take a deposition before trial."
The monster fucked both of them that night. Ben staggered to the shower after and Mat nearly collapsed on the way back to his suite. Ben and Liam began the night in their own beds; morning light found them spooned, Ben's cock once again resting in the crack. Ben began to giggle.
"Wouldn't you know," he thought, "just at the crack of dawn... "
Ben's cock got the message, the call to bear arms and charge, all at the same time. Liam, unlike the guy who 'never knew what hit him', knew exactly what hit him and although not converted to a total bottom, became a total fan.
The week passed by and it was time for the second team conference call. After the IT crew had retired to an anteroom, Liam thanked the team for their hard work during the week.
"Can all of you hear and see everyone else?"
They could. Liam told them this conference would be short, perhaps ten minutes per team member. He had no preface for them.
"Charlie, let's begin with your financial plan progress."
Ten minutes later, Charlie had filled the team in on the bare bones and some of the details and estimated another five days would bring a finished digital product.
"Jim and Paulo, why don't you report together on the progress toward a listing of forms for agencies?"
Jim began by saying that he had prepared a list of all the required IRS, SEC and other alphabet soup agency requirements each month and year, including reports and returns. These had been set up on Liam's private web site for him to check anytime and duplicates were maintained digitally but not web-linked at his and Paulo's office.
The completed forms were checked off on the list and each was linked to the form itself. Any letter from an agency was linked to that listing as well and indicated on the list. Paulo was pleased with Jim's progress and said so, saying the new system was easier and as comprehensive as the on the funds had used.
"Ron, the floor is yours for tax planning."
Ronald began with the IRS ideal view of the inheritance.
"Their goal is to maximize income from this set of transactions. Our goal is to minimize tax cost legally. That goal will be met through the only tools at our disposal."
"Deductions including philanthropy, deferment of income, tax credits, tax incentives, and business expenses in general, careful tracking and justification of each and every deduction, including the orange juice and fruit provided at this team meeting."
"A person at our office will be bird-dogging every possible expense and receipt that you submit. Please keep every Starbuck receipt with a note of who ate with you and what you talked about in general if it is business related."
"In general, it's not a good idea to choose a business structure just based on taxes. Having said that, we already know that we don't need capital, we don't need to recapitalize, we do want some protection from creditors, but that's a minor point, I'd say, so incorporation and an LLC aren't as attractive in this situation, since there's a better protection against creditors which is: don't have creditors."
"A Trust set up on the lines of the Schuyler trust would reduce tax consequences dramatically and insulate you from a lot of personal tax consequences without ceding control. I advise we proceed with that. I spoke with Ben and he recommends we talk to the Schuyler trust CFO and legal department in this regard. We won't proceed until Liam gives the OK."
Liam replied, "Liam just gave the OK." Laughter on screen and in the room sounded.
"Ben, last but not least, are the wolves at bay?" Ben told the group that the wolves weren't dead, but they had little ground to stand on. He had reviewed Mr. Gratz's will carefully, the process that Mr. Gratz went through to arrive at his decision, his state of mind, his documentation of his state of mind with two physicians, one a prominent psychiatrist in Boston, the other his own internist.
He might have improved the odds a bit had he convinced the Archbishop of Boston to sign on, but Mr. Gratz was a bit of a heretic, not exactly what a practicing Catholic would term a 'communicant'; that option wasn't available to him. He expected a challenge sooner or later from Liam's mother for sure.
That expectation turned out to be misplaced.
Within two weeks, a civil action challenging the will had arrived from the sister of abusing husband number three, stating that her brother had worked hard and put up with much to marry the rightful owner of that money and she asked for the sum total of the inheritance.
The judge on receipt of the suit dismissed it with prejudice, tossed it out for good.
There followed various nuisance lawsuits claiming various harms suffered by persons previously unknown from not getting their cut of the fortune, including one rather flamboyant student of Mr. Gratz who was just sure his teacher had meant him to get a reward from a night of passion long ago. A judge treated that one the same way.
In the midst of the madness, Mat called Alan one morning and asked him to meet him at a Starbucks not far from the museum.
After chatting a little and sipping their drinks, Mat came to the point. "Alan, it would surprise me if you guys don't have a talented man on your team that finds people.
Liam's biological father and his beloved first step-father are somewhere, and I want to know everything there is to know, every detail, about where, why, who, when and shoe sizes and..."
"I get your drift, Mateo. I take it that this phase is information gathering only, not a call for contact with either man?"
"Hole in one, man. Liam gets to make the final call, but please report to me and send the bill to me."
"Hey, we work for the Schuyler trust. No bills. You are family last I heard."
"I want to keep my man happy. Liam has been through enough. If these guys are low-life, I won't want to bother him."
"Got it, Mateo. I'll keep you posted."
It turned out neither was low-life. Alan told himself that life often was stranger than fiction, but this took the cake. He had interviewed co-workers, teachers and waiters at the cafe where Liam's father ate, ensuring their silence with generous donations to their favorite charities.
Liam's father, abused at home by his drunk wife and kicked out of the house, had gone for psychiatric care and worked through many of his own issues, had become a functioning adult and vowed to rescue his boy someday.
He had gone back to auto mechanic school, graduated and gone to work for a Ford dealership where he was working in the service department.
A man brought his Ford pickup F-350 in one day for a look at the ignition. Liam's dad had stepped up to get a better look, leaned over to inspect some items below the steering wheel when the pickup owner's eye caught a good look at his ass and became aroused.
Surprised at his own reaction, the owner of the pickup had half turned away when Liam looked around, glanced down and in profile saw a log where he might have seen a branch and gained more insight about things than the psychiatrist had seen fit to share with him.
They talked for a few minutes and Liam's dad told the owner it would be fixed by morning the next day. Liam's dad asked a co-worker to fill in for him for the day as he had an errand to run.
"Can I give you a ride home?"
"Sure, didn't know the dealership had that service."
"They don't."
"Oh."
"Have you had breakfast?"
"Not yet."
"Let's stop and rustle up some calories."
"Sounds OK with me...Dutch though."
"Deal."
Over breakfast Liam's dad and the owner told each other they had both been married (didn't mention to whom), that they both had a son about 6 now (didn't say his name or where he lived, that they both missed their son and how hard it was to think they couldn't be his dad now. The conversation turned to other things and Liam's dad dropped the owner of the pickup at his home.
"Why don't you come in for a cold beer or something? Are you in a rush to get back?"
Leo Markham wasn't in a rush to get back to work.
Greg Kimber opened his door, led his visitor to the kitchen and grabbed two cold ones from the fridge, handed one to his new friend and they ambled out to the back deck to sit in the mild, warm sunshine.
"I'm going to sit in the hot tub for a few, he said. Why don't you join me? It's just us chickens, no missus and no family around?"
"I don't have a suit to wear."
"So, who wears a suit in a hot tub? I wouldn't mind perving on your ass anyway," he grinned.
Leo pondered this and said, "why not". They both removed their clothes and hung them over chairs, Leo a little self-conscious about his ass now. He was proud of his junk though and had never had complaints, outside of a disastrous marriage, about his equipment.
Greg enjoyed flaunting his tight belly and ample pecs anytime he could. They eased into the very warm tub, taking their beers along. After a half hour or so, their skin had begun to show signs of waterlog and Greg led the way to the bedroom to grab towels for them.
As Leo was toweling dry, his eyes fell on a picture of a kid who looked kind of familiar.
"Greg, is this your son?"
"Yes," came the reply, "that's my step-son at six or so."
"What's his name, Greg?" Leo's voice sounded strained.
"Liam Markham."
"That's my son's name. I'm Leo Markham."
"Oh Christ! Are you his real dad?"
"Yes, Greg, did you marry her too?"
"Left her soon afterward, Leo... I couldn't take Liam with me because he wasn't mine."
The two men sat on the bed stunned and naked.
"I wonder where he is, Leo. Every night. Do you think about him too?"
"Every night and during the day, I wonder where he is and if he turned out OK and if he's all right. His mom won't speak to me. I don't know how to find him."
"Let's try and Google him. We'll use your last name. That has to be the name on the birth certificate. I'd sell the truck to find him. I just never...I wish I had connected the dots sooner now. I hope it's not too late. The only thing I gave that boy was some knowledge of how to cook a little. It's a hobby of mine and he used to watch me a lot and ask questions. His mom was one of the meanest women I've ever met."
Within a few hours, they had a little information about Liam Markham. A paragraph in a Boston newspaper reported that he had come into an inheritance and disappeared.
"If we try to find him now, he'll think we're after money or something. If he wants to find us, he will, Leo. Now get over here. I've got a cock here asking for love."
Greg and Leo spent the rest of the day in bed getting acquainted as men friends sometimes do, both still able to excite the other.
Greg was the dominant of the two. Leo wasn't exactly submissive however. Greg was a top. This was a first for Leo and he found that Greg's advances were welcome and finally thrilling as Greg showed him some turbo power right up where it counted. They both emptied their balls that day, liking each other a lot, and linked by a common daddy bond to a kid that had grownup without them.
The next day Leo's supervisor called him in and told him a man named Alan had asked for an interview for Ford magazine for an article about service at the best Ford shops.
"It's a real honor for us and a chance to get a mention in the article."
He sat with Alan for several hours that day and answered all kinds of questions both business and personal, including his new relationship with Greg and how that impacted his work.
"It isn't a relationship yet," blushed Leo, "we just met yesterday and found we share a son. I saw the picture of his son on the dresser after we sat in his hot tub. I no longer believe in coincidences."
"This is been a great interview. This should print up well. Thanks for your time. I'll make sure you get a copy when it prints in the fall."
That night Mateo got an earful that brought tears to his eyes. The two men, less than an hour away had missed their son separately and now together for many years.
Mat and Ben talked on the phone for a few minutes, trying to decide how to tell Liam and when.
"The simplest straight forward approach is what I would want if it was me in his shoes," said Ben.
"Liam, we have something to tell you. Alan did some looking and found both of your dads. As it happens, they are both alive and well. They live in a town almost an hour away from here. They just met by coincidence a few days ago and by accident your bio dad saw a picture of you on Greg's......
"Yeah, Greg Kimber was his name, I remember now..."
"...on Greg's dresser after a hot-tub soak."
"Oh... Oh my God! You're kidding me."
"No."
"I don't think they know much about you. They think you have disappeared. Leo had no interest in your money, at least he made no mention of the inheritance. He is the service manager at a Ford dealership."
"Tell ya what. Here's what I want Alan to do. Have him buy me a big black Ford F-350 for cash, all tricked out and disable the radio so it needs fixing or diagnosing or replacing or something service-related. I'm going to take it in to meet my dad."
"You sure you want to do this?"
"Yep."
Leo looked on his computer appointment list a week later, got acquainted with the day as it was shaping up and was surprised to see a big 350 drive up to the bay door and a man step out. The guy walked up. After a glance at Leo's name tag the man asked if he could get his radio looked at.
"Sure, can I have the name?"
"Liam."
"And the last name... "
"Markham."
Leo's face snapped up from his clipboard, eyes narrowed a little, a questioning look on his face morphing into a slight disbelief.
"What did you say, sir?"
"Markham. M A R K... "
"That was my son's name, Leo gasped." A low, barely controlled voice replied.
"It still is, dad."
Then moisture clouded their eyes, they both wiped their eyes with their sleeves at the same time, smiled the same shy grin and started to cry softly.
"It's a long story, dad." After you get off, I'll pick you up and we'll talk. I need to go find that rascal step-dad of mine, you probably don't..."
"I met him a week ago, another story to tell, he lives at 113 Trousdale, just south of town. He's got a picture of you still. I won't tip him off."
"You get around much or anything, dad?"
Leo blushed and grinned, "Damn kids these days. No respect for their parents."
"See ya this afternoon, dad. I love you." Dad and son hugged, and Leo went back to work.
That afternoon seemed the longest of Leo Markham's life.
Greg was outside mowing the lawn when the black, tricked-out F-350 pulled up by the curb. He saw a man step out of the truck and start across the grass toward him.
"You Greg Kimber?"
"Yeah, who wants to know?"
"I'm Liam Markham, dad, the asparagus kid."
"Oh my God!"
Liam thought he might not be able to breathe from the squeeze Greg was putting on him.
"Hey, don't crush me before we can talk."
"Oh sorry, I just can't believe it's you. You were, what, six years old, when I had to leave you behind. I've thought about you every day. Come in, Liam, it's hot out here. I want to show you something."
On his dresser was the school picture of Liam at age six smiling happily at the camera.
"I saw Leo over at the shop. I guess you two met there."
Greg had the grace to color a little. "He has a nice, um..."
"Ass?" Dad, I'm an adult and gay. I have two partners in a throuple in Manhattan."
"What's a throuple?"
"Three of us love each other equally and sleep with whom we please inside that triad and make decisions together."
"Lord, that's wild."
"It's liberating, like the 1960's all over again, I guess. I'm picking Leo up this afternoon. Want come too?"
"Sure."
"I'll buy dinner for us. Just no asparagus though," Liam laughed.
At supper the dads learned how good genes and good dads can set a son on a firm path to becoming an adult. They could hardly believe that their wife's brother had amassed some money but were well into surprises that day already. Both were happy for Liam and wished him the best.
"That sounds like a good bye, you two. Not so fast. I just found you and want to spend some time with you in New York. I want you to meet my partners and go to the park with me, maybe even the merry-go-round."
Leo and Greg looked at each other.
"We might be able to get some time off.
"Neither of you have to work again unless you want to. If you can live on a few million a year, I've got open positions for two fathers. You can keep your place here and come here anytime you want to make the trip and escape Manhattan. I want you two to take me to Disney World and the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone and San Francisco by the Bay and Napa and Boston and Fort Lauderdale. In short, I've got plans for you two if you can keep up with a kid."
Leo and Greg looked at each other again. "Let's start by visiting you in Manhattan and see if you inherited our best genes and talents or whether you turned out to be a brat or something." They grinned together and drew their son into a hug.
"Now I'm going to leave you two to your nefarious dad loving. I don't want to hear about any of that nasty stuff. TMI and all that. Be sure and wear condoms, you two."
"Yes, son."
Liam drove off, his hard cock pointing the way back to Manhattan. They were a couple of good-looking guys who loved him already, who loved each other already and who turned him the hell inside out. Damn, he loved being an adult.
