The Kingswood Complication
Chapter 22
Friday 6 January 2023
"Oh my god, I don't even know who that is!" Chris huffed in frustration as he turned away from Nicky.
Nicky scowled at Chris' back. It was only the first Music Club gathering of the new term and the two boys were already squabbling. "Oh, so it's fine when you make us play some ancient song from the 90s we've never heard of, but I want us to play something that's actually current and it's just a no? How is THAT fair?" Nicky demanded.
"I don't care how `current' it is," Chris said as he turned back to Nicky, "It sounds like shit!" As Nicky looked ready to shout back at him, Chris shook his head and said, "Sorry, I really don't mean that. All music has value. I just... don't like it, okay!"
Nicky's anger was slightly deflated by Chris' considerate addition, but he was still frustrated by yet another argument over the direction of their band. "And you think I like playing at old stuff?" Nicky asked pointedly.
"I..." Chris went to argue, but couldn't really think of any valid way to dispute the point and just stopped instead. "Okay, fine, then whadda we do? Let the others decide?" he asked with a shrug.
"Yeah, no!" Mark suddenly interjected, sitting on a table nearby. "Until Mikey gets back, `the others' is pretty much just me, and there is NO way I'm getting stuck in the middle of this!" he said, holding both hands up defensively.
"No, come on. You're part of this band. You deserve to have a say!" Chris said, smiling as he approached Mark.
"Oh no, no no no," Nicky said, shaking his head emphatically as he approached too. "Don't you go sucking up to Mark to get him to take your side!"
"I'm not sucking up," Chris said innocently, "I'm asking our talented, wonderful, sexy and all round amazing bandmate to give us his honest and unbiased opinion!" Chris smirked then quickly eyed Mark up and down and added, "Looking good. I like that shirt, where did you get it?"
As Nicky rolled his eyes, Mark looked down then back to Chris and said, "It's... literally just my school uniform!"
"Oh, well... you make it look good!" Chris added with a wink.
"Oh for god's sake," Nicky huffed.
"Relax," Mark reassured Nicky, "I'm not quite that easily manipulated!"
"Ha!" Nicky said, jabbing an accusatory finger in Chris' direction.
"But I refer you back to my previous answer – I'm not getting involved. Later bitches!" Mark said as he span his legs round to the opposite side of the table and jumped off to head down to the other end of the music room.
"Ha!" Chris retorted, pointing back at Nicky.
"You have literally nothing to `ha' about!" Nicky said with a bemused glower.
"No, but it just looked fun and I wanted a go," Chris shrugged.
"You're so annoying sometimes!" Nicky grumbled, only partially serious. He let out a groan as he sat down into a chair. He looked up at Chris with a slight pout. "What are we gonna do?" he asked dejectedly.
"I don't know," Chris nodded, taking a seat next to Nicky. He gave a hearty sigh but didn't say anything else.
"Gray... said he thinks it sounds like maybe... Stage Fright has... run its course!" Nicky said cautiously.
"Oh, did he?" Chris asked, recoiling a little as he scowled down the music room to where Gray was currently jamming with some of the others. Looking back to Nicky, he demanded, "And what do YOU think?"
"Honestly?" Nicky asked, getting a reluctant nod from Chris, "The same. I guess... I thought it for a while but..."
"But?" Chris prompted, then giggled and added, "Ha, butt!"
Nicky sniggered reluctantly though it quickly dropped away, "But... I dunno, I didn't wanna be the one to say it. Feels a bit too similar to breaking up with you and Mikey. I don't wanna be the bad guy again!" He looked round nervously at Chris, unsure how he would react. Seeing his expression looking fairly neutral, Nicky offered, "You can, like... keep the band and... and keep going without me!"
Chris shook his head as he thought about it for a moment then stated, "Nah, the band's kinda named after you. Besides, if you're quitting you know Mikey'll do the same. After all, he's only here to..."
"Hit things with sticks!" Chris and Nicky both said in unison before bursting into giggles.
"Exactly," Chris chuckled at how well they both knew the absent boy.
"And hang out with us!" Nicky added, letting out a gentle moan. They had only been back a few days, but it already felt weird without Mikey. "That's his main reason," he added sadly.
"He'll be back soon," Chris said with a massive grin.
"You don't know that," Nicky pouted.
"Actually I'm pretty confident," Chris said, still broadly smiling.
Nicky frowned at Chris curiously. As Chris nodded across the room, Nicky turned and let out a gentle gasp as he saw Mikey approaching. "MIKEY!" he yelled unashamedly as he launched himself across the room to grab his best friend in a hug.
"Hi," Mikey laughed as he got bear-hugged by Nicky.
"Hey, you!" Chris said happily as he approached the hugging pair, as Mark came back over towards them.
"Hey," Mikey said with a meek smile to Chris and then Mark. "Have I missed anything exciting?" he asked casually.
"Well Stage Fright's breaking up!" Chris said with a shrug.
Nicky's eyes widened. That was almost as blunt as Nicky's break up with them back in Year 8 and certainly not the tactful way he had hoped to broach the subject with their other two bandmates.
"Thank fuck for that!" Mikey and Mark both replied at once, followed by snorts of laughter as they looked at each other.
"Wow, charming," Nicky grumbled.
"Yeah, they could at least act upset!" Chris huffed.
Mark rolled his eyes as he shook his head. "Oh come on. You two have been squabbling literally for centuries!" he exaggerated.
"I don't think literally means what you think it means," Chris complained.
Mark shrugged the comment off and looked to Chris as he added, "Besides, you've not REALLY been into it for ages now!"
Chris cocked his head curiously as he started, "What's that supposed to..."
"I'm so happy you're back!" Nicky interjected, already keen to move on to more important things. "Why didn't you tell me you were coming back today?" he demanded with a slight pout.
<<Oh, that's such a fucking lie!>>
Mikey winced slightly and shook his head, then explained, "I... didn't even know til a bit earlier. I... umm... I don't wanna go into it here!" He looked painfully conscious of the boys around them.
"Hey, let's go back to the dorm," Nicky suggested.
Walking down to the exit, a few others offered greetings to Mikey, including Gray, who offered him a fist-bump as he said hello.
"No. Don't touch him," Chris pouted, pulling Mikey's hand back as he went to return the gesture. "You've done enough damage, Yoko!" he said moodily. The others around them all looked thoroughly confused by the comment, so Chris sighed and said, "Ugh, never mind!" Pointing accusingly at Gray, Chris narrowed his eyes and growled, "Go and google Yoko Ono so I can insult you properly!"
"Sure, I'll get right on that," Gray said with a smirk, shaking his head as soon as Chris looked away, to the amusement of everyone else.
A few minutes later, they were all back in the dorm where Danny, Rob and Josh were sitting chatting with David, who was accompanied by James.
"Thank fuck you're back!" Danny exclaimed amidst all the greetings.
"Aww, I didn't know you missed him that much," Rob teased, elbowing Danny.
"I didn't, but we got a match tomorrow and I'm already a man down thanks to stupid cancer!" Danny said, gesturing to Josh.
"Ah yes, the football tournament really is the true victim in all this," Rob said with a smirk as he stroked Josh's bald head, getting snorts of laughter from him.
"Whatever, I'm just glad you're back," Danny said, smiling at Mikey. As he got a bemused eyebrow raise from Nicky, he added, "And not just for the football!"
Mikey accepted a hug from Danny and chuckled a little as he whispered, "But mostly the football, right?"
"Totally!" Danny whispered back with a playful laugh.
Saturday 7 January 2023
The Southern Counties Inter-school Partnership Scheme, known more commonly as SCIPS, was a program that ran throughout the school year that brought eight boarding schools from the South of England together for a series of sporting, creative and academic events. The football and rugby tournaments were two of the bigger events of the SCIPS calendar.
While each of the schools would host at least one weekend of activities each year, one school was always selected as the `host school', charged with ensuring everything ran smoothly as well as holding the opening and closing events. This year, the Crestwood School for Boys was the host school and, having held the opening event the previous term, were now hosts for the first matches of the two sporting contests, with football taking place on Saturday and Rugby on Sunday.
With guest accommodation limited, and Kingswood being their closest neighbour, the Kingswood students were not staying at the other school for the weekend, but were commuting their football teams today and rugby teams tomorrow to take part. One of the coaches housed the Year 11 to 13 teams, while the other carried the Year 8 to 10 teams. The journey had necessitated an early start, but Danny had done his best to get his team energised and motivated as they got on the coach. It had not been well received, with Danny's genitals receiving a worryingly large number of threats if he didn't `take it down a notch', as several of them put it.
Eventually leaving his team to be cranky and sleepy, Danny had settled into a seat beside Mikey who was staring absently out the window.
<<You shouldn't be here!>>
<<You don't belong here!>>
<<They lied to you, they're not gonna help you!>>
<<They're getting a tiny little padded room ready for you right now!>>
<<It's not too late. Tell them you were lying!>>
<<Ooh, cows! Look at the cows!>>
<<They won't ever talk to you again. May as well enjoy today's match, it'll be your last!>>
<<You're just trying to steal Josh's thunder you attention whore!>>
<<It's okay, just keep pretending to be normal. Listen to me and I'll help you do it!>>
<<Sheeeeep! Sheep are better than cows. Wait, no, cows are better than sheep. Cows would definitely win if they went to war!>>
<<You can't tell them. DON'T tell them!>>
"You sleeping with your eyes open or something?" Danny asked, giving Mikey a gentle shake. "Earth to Mikey. Helloooo?"
"Oh," Mikey said, shaking his head as he looked round at the other boy. "Sorry, umm... there was a sheep. Umm, what's up?" he said absently.
"I was checking you're okay, but I think I kinda got my answer," Danny said, pursing his lips as he looked at Mikey, head cocked.
"Oh, no, I'm fine," Mikey insisted. "Just half asleep!"
<<More like half INSANE!>>
Danny continued to stare in silence for a moment, then lowered his voice and said, "Nicky didn't really tell us much about why you were off. Are you definitely okay to be back? I know I made a big thing about the match, but, like... health comes first!"
<<Yeah right. I bet Nicky was having a big laugh about it all while you were away!>>
"No he wasn't!" Mikey snapped, but realised his verbal mis-step as he saw Danny looking confused. "I mean, he... he didn't... tell you much," Mikey stumbled awkwardly, "Cos... cos he doesn't... KNOW much. I... umm..."
<<Yeah don't even think about it! He'll probably throw you off the bus while it's still moving!>>
Mikey sighed softly and shook his head a little as he said, "I'm okay but... let's just get today's match out the way and maybe later I can... umm... whatever!"
<<No you mostly certainly CAN NOT `umm whatever'... whatever that means!>>
"Okay," Danny said with a gentle nod. "Hey, I know between me and you I normally go with the whole... umm, tough love kinda thing," Danny said a little awkwardly, "But until we get to Crestwood, d'you wanna..." He didn't finish the question verbally. Instead, he just raised an arm.
Mikey smiled and happily leaned in to cuddle against his friend/dormmate/team captain, sighing softly as he felt the arm lower and tighten around him.
<<You do realise that if you tell them ANYTHING, that's it. This all ends! Keep your fucking mouth shut, you psychotic little pussy!>>
Josh let out a content groan as he stretched out, slowly waking up. His morning so far had not been particularly exciting, having woken up early to wish Mark, Mikey and Danny good luck in their match before they left, followed by breakfast, a quick check-up with Peter, the nurse on duty today, followed by a long nap on the sofas of their dorm. He smiled as he heard the sound of guitars playing.
At first, everyone had been careful around Josh whenever he was resting, always creeping around or making themselves scarce, though when he told them that he found it a bit creepy when things were too silent, they had gone back to just living their lives around him whenever he napped.
Lying still for a few moments, Josh heard Chris start singing, with Nicky joining in occasionally to harmonise or sing backing. He didn't know the song particularly, but at least recognised it to be a Taylor Swift tune. Halfway through, he sat up and looked over to where the two boys were playing. He got a smile from Chris, followed by Nicky looking round to give him one too. They carried on playing to the end of the song, playing to their audience of one.
"I thought you guys broke up!" Josh said as the song ended.
Chris smirked a little as he said, "Stage Fright broke up, but that doesn't mean we stopped being..." he paused to smile fondly at Nicky and finished thoughtfully, "Musically compatible!"
"Eww, is that a sex thing?" Josh asked, getting an immediate burst of laughter from Nicky and Chris.
"No," Nicky said as he placed down his guitar, "No it is not!" He moved across the room to take a seat on one of the other sofas.
"It just means Nicky would rather play music from weird Eastern European indie bands than classics like Queen or Nirvana!" Chris said, sitting down next to Josh, casually drooping an arm around his shoulders. He gave a slight smirk to Nicky and got an eye roll in return.
Josh happily cuddled up to Chris as he said, "It's a shame. I loved Stage Fright, but hey, people change!"
"Very true!" Nicky said with an emphatic nod.
"He's changed a lot!" Nicky and Chris both said at once, then frowned at each other as Josh sniggered at them.
"Me? You're the one who changed!" Chris said accusingly. "Getting all... mentally healthy and stuff," he said, sounding disgusted in a comedic way.
"Oh I know. Seriously, sometimes I think I should have someone else I love die just so I can be all messed up again!" Nicky joked.
"Geez, okay, I'm working on it, give me some time!" Josh said with an exaggerated eye roll.
"Oh my god," Chris said, laughing as he shook his head. "You two are so twisted!"
"Hey, you're the one laughing!" Josh said, nudging Chris with his elbow, "And chill, I'm kidding. I'm gonna outlive the lot of ya!"
"I don't doubt it!" Chris said as he gave Josh a gentle squeeze and a sincere smile, though he quickly looked back to Nicky and asked accusingly, "And whadda you mean I'VE changed? Aside from being half a metre taller and twice as big downstairs, I'm the same as the day I got here!"
Nicky snorted derisively as he said, "Half a metre? You wish! And twice the size? You SERIOUSLY fucking wish!" He grinned as Josh giggled at the comments and ended up in a headlock from Chris for it, then went on, "And you've totally changed. Well, not TOTALLY, but... I dunno, I guess just... it's hard to explain!"
Josh raised his hand and let out a playful, gurgled noise as he remained trapped in Chris' grip. "Thank you," he said as he was released and sat up, "And I know what he means!"
Chris' brow furrowed as his gaze flitted between the other two a few times.
"It's about the glow!" Josh stated.
Nicky now looked every bit as confused as Chris as he asked jokingly, "Jesus, how long did you cut off the oxygen?"
"Ha!" Josh laughed as Chris shrugged. "What I mean is... well, you'll think I'm nuts but... fuck it, I'm okay being nuts. People glow! I'm not talking, like... actually glowing!"
"You're being metaphorical?" Nicky suggested thoughtfully.
"THAT'S the word. Thank you. Metaphonical!" Josh said, nodding emphatically, oblivious to the bemused smirk the other two exchanged at the verbal slip. "You've all got things that you LOVE. I mean... not just love, but that you LIVE for, the things that when you do them or talk about them it's... well, like you're glowing!"
"Ohhh!" Nicky said, catching on to what he meant. He thought for a moment and offered up, "Yeah, I get what you mean. Like when David talks about drag queens or computers, or Rob starts talking rugby or architecture!"
"Yes, exactly!" Josh said, pointing excitedly at Nicky, glad he had been understood.
"Oh, I get it," Chris finally caught on with a smile, but it dropped a little as he said, "Wait, so... what's that got to do with me? Don't I... glow?"
"Well there's one thing that always made you glow and still does now!" Josh stated confidently.
"Oh yeah?" Chris enquired, unsure if this was just some elaborate way to tease him.
Josh and Nicky looked at each other, smiled, then both looked to Chris as they stated, "Danny!"
A broad grin spread over Chris' face at the mention of the name. "Okay, fair," he admitted, unable to stop smiling.
Nicky suddenly perked up, nodding as he said to Josh, "I think I get where you're going with this!"
"Yeah," Josh nodded back at him, "He used to glow when he performed!"
"Or when he'd start nerding out over plants!" Nicky added with a mocking but sincere smile.
"I don't... glow anymore?" Chris asked, looking slightly dismayed.
Nicky and Josh hummed thoughtfully at each other until Josh said, "You kinda do, but it's... fainter!"
Chris shrank inwards a little as he pouted, "Oh!" and looked down at his hands sadly.
"Aww, sorry, not trying to bum you out," Josh apologised, cuddling back up to Chris. "I was gonna say there's new stuff that makes you glow!"
"Yeah, that's what I meant about change!" Nicky added with a nod, "I reckon I'm thinking the same thing Josh is!" He got a nod from Josh, even though he couldn't be sure yet.
"What... what is it?" Chris asked nervously.
"Think about what you did for Danny's birthday, and for all of us at Christmas!" Nicky prompted the other boy cryptically.
"The stories?" Chris said with a confused head tilt. "No, they were just..." he stopped mid-sentence as his eyebrows raised, thinking about the things he had written and the joy he had gotten from sharing them. "Oh! Oh shit, that's..." He couldn't think how to express it, but a broad smile spread across his face again.
"Yeah, exactly," Nicky nodded, amused at Chris' realisation. "I think it says a lot that you joined Creative Writing club to help with song lyrics and only ever wrote two songs, especially cos one was basically a hate crime against me for dumping you and the other was sweet but kinda shit!"
"Hey, you said you liked it," Chris pouted.
"Yeah, I did say I liked it," Nicky nodded, "But I never said it was good!"
Josh was snorting with laughter at the playful squabbling until it drew the attention of the other two.
"Oh, so what makes lil Joshy glow then, huh?" Chris asked as he grabbed him back into a loose headlock.
"Chemotherapy!" Josh replied, "But that's probably just a side effect of the radiation!"
Nicky snorted with laughter and shook his head as he said, "Oh my god, you're so wrong!"
Josh smiled proudly at amusing the other two, then shrugged and said, "I actually AM wrong. It's not radioactive, but hey, what's the point of having cancer if it's not an excuse to make cancer jokes!"
Chris turned his headlock into a hug and kissed the top of Josh's head as he said, "You're awesome, Josh. Have I ever told you that?"
"It's come up," Josh giggled.
"Now I almost feel bad for drawing on you while you napped!" Chris said, tapping Josh's head as he pulled away.
Reluctantly joining in as the other two laughed, Josh scowled and said, "Not again. You cunts!"
"Admit it! You begged them to put us in different groups because you're scared of us!"
A taunt like that from the captain of the King Edwards team could have started a riot in previous years. In fact, for the older teams it could still have easily started a fist fight, but Danny had just laughed as he heard the tease from Charlie, captain of the King Edwards Year 10 football team. "Oh, I think that's more the other way around!" Danny goaded back, "Remind me again who won last year's tournament?"
"I dunno, some backwards school from the arse-end of nowhere that we let win out of sympathy!" Charlie replied with a shrug.
"Mmm-huh," Danny hummed back with an eyebrow raise, "You keep telling yourself that!"
The two captains stared each other down for a few moments before stepping towards each other. Danny noted with mild annoyance that Charlie now stood a little taller than him, a change from last year when they had first met and stood at equal height. He looked older now too, which made sense... as he was older! While it had been eight months since Danny last saw him, Charlie looked like he had aged a couple of years, but in a good way. He had changed from a cute boy into a handsome young man, with his broad shoulders, strong jawline and muscled physique among some of his more impressive features. With jet black hair (fashionably styled), dark eyes and flawless skin that floated somewhere between tanned Caucasian and pale brown, he was quite a stunning boy. Danny couldn't help thinking he looked like the sort of guy he would have had on a poster in his room back home. He was also straight, but nobody's perfect!
As Danny held out his hand, Charlie swatted it away and wrapped his arms around Danny as he said, "It's okay, I know you're a hugger. This is fine, I've had my shots!"
Danny held Charlie for a moment, patting him on the back before pushing him away. "The fucking nerve!" he said with a bemused headshake. "So how've you been?" he asked with a sincere smile. It still seemed strange to be cordial with someone from King Edwards, considering the historic rivalry that verged on hatred between the two schools.
"Meh, not bad," Charlie shrugged as he sat down on a bench. "The school burned down and one of my team got really sick! Oh no, wait, that's YOU! Fuck how I'm doing. How are YOU?" he asked, shaking his head as Danny sat beside him.
"Wow, keeping tabs on me, are you? If I couldn't SMELL the straightness coming off you in waves I'd think you were flirting!" Danny said with a wry grin.
"Hey, that's heterophobia and that's not straightness, it's Lynx!" Charlie sniggered back.
"Did you know Lynx is called Axe in America?" Danny asked in a painfully transparent attempt at deflection. Seeing Charlie wasn't buying it, he sighed and said, "The school thing's not as bad as it probably seemed. Nobody got hurt, the damage is fixed and we got a cool makeover out of it!"
"And the Josh thing?" Charlie asked, cocking his head sympathetically. "Seriously that kid's had it rough!" he sighed gently.
"Yeah, it sucks, but... he's in remission and doing well so far with his consolidation therapy!" Danny said, doing his best to remain positive.
"I... don't know what most of that means, but you look happy so I'm gonna assume it's good!" Charlie said honestly.
Danny sniggered at the comment and replied, "Yes, it's good. He's gonna be off the pitch for the rest of this year, but he's already planning his big comeback for year eleven!"
"That's good. I'm guessing you'll appreciate having him back to help you recover from your horrible defeat in year ten!" Charlie smirked.
Danny shook his head at the comment, holding back a smile as he said, "Wow, you turn being a cocky cunt into an art form. Nicely done!"
"Thanks. I've been practicing!" Charlie chuckled, "Shame we don't get to face you til the second round though!"
"I agree. I'm looking forward to giving you a spanking..." Danny taunted, then gave a salacious grin as he added, "And beating you at football!"
"Now who's flirting, gay-boy!" Charlie replied with a bemused headshake.
"Hey, that's heterophobia!" Danny joked, then gave an exaggerated confused frown as he said, "Wait, that's not right..."
"Funny," Charlie said dryly. "Oh well, I guess if we're gonna make embarrassing bets on our matches, they'll just have to wait til round two!"
Danny bit his lip as he let out a slight groan, then said, "Wow, you REALLY know how to encourage a guy to succeed!"
"You're such a freak!" Charlie snorted with laughter.
"Umm, Danny!" they suddenly heard from behind them. They looked round to see Mikey standing there. "Umm... can we talk?" he asked quietly.
<<Eww, that's a King Edwards guy. Spit in his face!>>
"Yeah, sure," Danny said with a curious frown. "We'll finish this later," he said with a grin at the other captain as he got up to approach Mikey, getting a laugh and a nod back. "Whassup mate?" he asked.
<<Were they flirting? You should tell Chris!>>
"Yeah, umm... well... the thing is..." Mikey muttered a little awkwardly, "I'm... I'm not... I'm not completely sure I should... umm... play in the match today!"
<<Excuse me! What. The. Fuck. You're playing! Football is fun!>>
"Oh, are you... not feeling well still?" Danny asked curiously, "Should we go talk to Mr Cunnigham?"
<<Maybe YOU should flirt with the King Edwards. He's actually kinda hot!>>
"No, it's not that. I just... umm... I don't wanna get us... disqualified again!" Mikey said a little shakily.
<<Picture it! May 2021. The King Edwards locker room. Match of the century – Mikey versus Gregory! Ding ding. Round one!>>
"What? Why would you..." Danny started, slightly sideswiped, "Why would you get us disqualified? Did someone say something to you?"
"No, but... but... what if they do?" Mikey said, shaking his head. "Someone says something and I flip out and get us disqualified again. I don't wanna do that to you or the others!"
<<Gregory deserved that punch. For what he said about Josh you shoulda thrown HIM off the roof!>>
"Hey," Danny said, placing a hand on Mikey's shoulder, "That's... that was a very different Mikey. You're all good, just relax, okay!"
Mikey nodded, sighing deeply as he remained silent.
<<Danny's so nice. I like Danny, even when he's slapping sense into you, which is kind of annoying, I still like him!>>
"Come here," Danny said, pulling Mikey into a hug, "I know this helps you clear your head sometimes!"
<<His head is perfectly clear thank you very... oh... this feels nice. Keep doing this!>>
After several more seconds, Danny let go and asked, "Better?"
Mikey nodded as he smiled timidly.
<<Hug him again!>>
"Y'know, I know a lot of the pros go on about, umm... not doing certain things before a match, but we could always... do the other thing that I know helps clear your head!" Danny offered cautiously, "We've still got time before the match!"
<<Ooh, that's better than a hug!>>
Mikey nodded again.
<<Can we bring the other guy too?>>
"So... do we get to know what's up or you gonna keep us guessing for dramatic effect?" Danny asked playfully.
Mikey looked round, tilting his head just a little to look at the slightly taller boy as he asked, "So... do we get to know what's up or you gonna keep us guessing for dramatic effect?" He grinned at turning the situation back on Danny.
"Oh! Oh that's just mean. How very dare you!" Danny said, trying to feign annoyance as he laughed.
<<Oh my god, I forgot how much I like Danny's smile. Make him smile more!>>
"Tonight!" Mikey said, with a hint of a nod.
The comment, succinct as it was, caught Danny a little off guard.
"But that doesn't mean you have to as well," Mikey added.
"Okay," Danny replied gratefully. Neither of them spoke again as they headed into the toilets and looked around furtively before they entered a cubicle together. "Sorry, not exactly glamorous!" Danny apologised at their surroundings.
"Danny, mate, we're here for a shag, not a date. I'll live!" Mikey chuckled, then reached down to pull his dick out and said, "Suck it!"
"Ooh, so bossy. I like it!" Danny chuckled as he squatted down and took hold of Mikey's cock. It was still soft, though he could already feel it firming within his grasp. Danny leaned forward to take it between his lips, chuckling to himself as he felt the penis thicken and lengthen, reaching further into his mouth.
"You like it bossy?" Mikey said with a wry grin, "Good, then I'm gonna fuck your face, and then your arse and then we're gonna go and win this fucking match!"
Danny opened his mouth and, slightly muffled by the new erection, replied, "I'm okay with all three of those things!"
Mikey laughed, but snapped, "Shut up!" then grabbed at Danny's mess of blonde hair and gripped tightly as he started thrusting into his mouth. He heard a few gentle gags at first, which made him slow momentarily, but Danny soon got into the flow of it and happily took the whole thing with gusto.
Pulling Mikey's shorts and underwear down to his knees, Danny reached round to grasp at his bare buttocks, cupping one in each hand as his throat got fucked. His own cock was rigid, but aside from enjoying the feel of Mikey's butt, he didn't want to cum. Willing as he was to help Mikey cum before the big game, Danny liked to `save it up' to help fuel him on the pitch.
After a couple of minutes with his dick in Danny's mouth, Mikey began to pant a little and suddenly pulled back. "Ooof, almost got carried away," he chuckled before moving round behind Danny. Unceremoniously yanking his shorts and briefs down, Mikey reached round to grasp at Danny's dick. Giving it a quick stroke and a firm squeeze, he got what he was looking for as his fingers touched the tip and found a small glob of precum.
"Ah fuck yes!" Danny groaned as he felt Mikey's fingers use his own juices to lubricate his hole a little. Leaning forward to brace himself, he raised one hand to his mouth and bit down slightly on his finger as Mikey impaled him, plunging all the way in with a single thrust. "Ah, Mikey... fffffuck!" he gasped.
"I am!" Mikey sniggered. Gripping at Danny, he pulled back and slammed in again, his crotch slapping against Danny's pert, plump buttocks with each thrust. If anyone else was in the room, there was no way they could mistake the sound for anything other than what it was, though thankfully they went undisturbed.
"Where d'you... wanna cum?" Danny asked, bouncing back and forth a little with the movements, his own cock bouncing in time with them and just begging to be touched as he continued to ooze precum.
"I... I'll show ya!" Mikey gasped as he pulled out and grabbed his dick, stroking it rapidly to finish himself off before squatting a little to shoot his load into the crotch of Danny's underwear.
"Oh, lovely, thanks," Danny groaned as he looked down between his legs to see Mikey's cock pumping out its load into his briefs.
"Oh, what? You're fine having it up your butt, in your face or anywhere in between, but in your pants is too far?" Mikey scoffed as he stood up and grabbed some tissue to wipe the tip of his dick.
"Hey. Don't go using facts against me. That's not fair!" Danny smirked. As he turned, he pulled Mikey into another hug and asked, "Feeling a bit more... clear?"
"Yeah," Mikey sighed contentedly. After a few moments in Danny's arms, he added, "I'm really okay, you can let go!"
"I know, I'm just giving the jizz more time to soak in before I pull my pants up!" Danny said, getting a snort of laughter back from Mikey.
"So, one week into your second term... this feel like home yet?" Rob asked with a sincere smile as he looked across at the younger boy.
Devon, or Dev as he preferred, thought for a moment as he contemplated his mentor's question. "Maybe not home quite yet, but... yeah... I think coming back this term was WAY easier than the start of last term!"
"That's good," Rob said with a happy nod. "This term I'm gonna make sure we meet every single week, more if you need it!" he assured Dev with a confident nod.
Dev pursed his lips as he shrugged slightly and said, "It's okay, I get it, you've got a lot going on!"
"I did," Rob nodded. He paused briefly and continued, "I still do, but... well, me being busy doesn't mean I can neglect my mentor duties. I get we've not known each other that long, but you matter to me. Besides, you're stuck with me for four years, we may as well make it good!"
"Wow, that's a long time," Dev said, nodding wistfully.
Rob sighed slightly and replied, "Not as long as you'd think. It flies by!" He immediately laughed at himself and said, "Wow, I sound like a proper old man, don't I!"
"Little bit," Dev chuckled.
Rob continued to snigger gently as he nodded thoughtfully. Honestly, he was a little stuck for what to say. During the first half of last term, their sessions had mostly been taken up with releasing Devon from his chastity device to wash and be `tested', but he had developed to the point of earning his release by the time he came back from the first half-term break. Since then, their meetings had been sporadic as Rob spent so much of his time looking after Josh. Not wanting to admit he just didn't feel like he really knew the boy yet, he opted for an easier tactic and prompted, "So come on, tell me what's going on with you! Classes? Clubs? Your dorm? ... Boyfriend?" He smirked a little as he saw just a hint of darkening in Devon's cheeks.
"Classes are fine. I'm so NOT good at maths!" Dev started with a shrug, "Not particularly great at French either and I'm pretty sure Mr Klaus hates me cos everything he says is really... harsh!"
"Nah," Rob said, waving a hand dismissively at the mention of the school's French teacher (technically he was also the school's German teacher as he was German and a teacher, but the class he actually taught was French). "That's just Mr Klaus. He treats everyone that way. He likes us all equally," Rob said, then frowned thoughtfully and added, "Or he hates us all equally. We can't tell, but either way it's nothing personal!"
Dev laughed and nodded as he said, "Fair!" He thought back to the question and said, "Clubs and stuff are good. I really like rugby!"
"Yes, good man!" Rob said approvingly, offering a high-five to the younger boy, "Maybe you'll make captain in year eight!"
"You think I could?" Dev asked, smiling excitedly, "Like you!"
"Sure," Rob nodded, "I'm happy to give you some pointers for the sort of stuff Mr Hargreaves tends to look for in his captains if you like!"
"That'd be great, thank you!" Dev said, nodding emphatically.
After Dev spoke for a little longer about his extracurricular interests and the conversation lulled again, Rob prompted, "So how about your mates and your dorm and stuff. Are things... a bit calmer than this time last term?"
Dev nodded silently for a moment, then said, "Yeah, but... mostly cos we tend to just stay apart now. Avery, Milo and Leonardo have their side of the dorm. Me, Dec and Jorge have our side!"
Rob wasn't sure whether he found the news pleasing or not. On the bright side, there had been no issues or arguments in need of their intervention for a while now, but at the same time, such an obvious division in the dorm sounded like a recipe for an unpleasant couple of years sharing a room. It was especially hard to think that his mentee and his little brother were on the opposing sides of the divide. Suddenly curious about the numbers, as he had only mentioned six of the dorm's eight occupants, Rob asked, "Wait, what about the other two? Umm... Axel and... umm... wait, I'll get it..."
"Peyton!" Dev interjected.
"Oh, yeah, I was never gonna get that!" Rob smirked. "But yeah, if they're not with you or with the others, then what? Aare they camped out on the front lawn instead?" he joked.
Dev shook his head. "Nah, Peyton's... nice I s'pose but he tends to keep to himself. I reckon he's mostly just scared of getting caught in the middle of things. When we fight, he literally hides!"
"Oh," Rob said with a nod, unsure whether that was something he should talk to Peyton's mentor (Mark) about or if he was best just staying out of it. "And Axel?" he asked curiously. While he didn't hear much about Peyton from Mark, David talked about Axel quite a lot.
"Hnnh, kinda like Peyton, but not," Dev said cryptically. As he got a frown from Rob, he explained, "Tends to keep out of things and not take sides, but... I swear, he loves it when we fight. He gets the popcorn out!"
"Well at least someone's having fun," Rob said with a slight crinkle in his brow. Not wanting to concern Dev unnecessarily, he quickly forced a smile and asked, "So what about the last bit... anyone... of interest?"
Rather than blushing as he had before, Dev let out a gentle sigh as he shook his head and said, "I don't really do that!"
"Fair, you're still young. I kinda forget how... eager most of my dorm were with shit like that!" Rob chuckled.
"No, it's not that," Dev said with a gentle shake of his head, "It's... umm... ugh, sorry, I don't think you'd get it!"
Rob stared back for a moment, giving the younger boy the chance to elaborate, but when nothing was forthcoming he decided to prompt. Having heard other things Devon had said about his life outside of Kingswood, he felt like he could make a pretty good guess. "Is it... the race thing? Sorry if that's a really shitty way of putting it!"
Dev smirked for a moment and nodded as he said, "It's fine!" The smile dropped a little as he added, "But yeah, pretty much!"
This time when a wait didn't prompt any further comments, Rob held his tongue and let silence nudge the boy on.
"I dunno, I've not had any issues here, which has been pretty cool actually, it's just... when you spend so long being the outsider, it's hard to... I dunno, STOP feeling like you're the outsider!" Dev explained sadly.
"You're right that I don't get it," Rob said with a slow head bob, "But... I want to. Maybe this is something we can talk about more whenever we meet. I can't ever, like... experience what you have and I can't just CHANGE how you feel, but maybe... if WE talk about more, it'll feel a bit more okay and I'll understand things a bit better from your perspective!"
"Yeah, I think I'd like that!" Dev said with an eager nod. "Would you..." he started, but paused himself mid-sentence, blushing again.
"Would I... what?" Rob smirked.
"Would you be able to... teach me some... umm... stuff, too?" Dev asked awkwardly.
"What kind of stuff?" Rob asked, forcing a straight face as he played dumb.
Dev's eyes flitted side to side as he looked anywhere other than at Rob for a few moments. "Umm... y'know... umm... ugh, never mind," he mumbled.
Feeling bad for teasing, Rob helped him out by asking, "Sex stuff?" As he got a shy nod in response, he smiled and said, "Well I'm here to teach you whatever you need, so you can ask me anything. I won't laugh or judge or anything, I promise!"
Dev's gaze raised to meet Rob's, giving him a brief, questioning glance which received a gentle nod of confirmation. "Well... some of the guys in my dorm have already started... umm... butt sex!" Dev stated, shrinking back slightly, seemingly in anticipation of mockery.
It was a touchy subject for Rob in some ways, but also something he was glad his mentee felt safe to bring up. "Whadda you wanna know?" he asked gently.
Dev sighed slightly, then pursed his lips thoughtfully for a moment before he eventually shrugged and said, "Well... everything, I suppose!"
Rob nodded back, allowing Dev a moment to accept he wasn't just going to be laughed at. Taking a deep breath, Rob started with, "Well as far as I'm concerned you need to know three very important things!" As Dev stared at him with wide-eyed curiosity, Rob said confidently, "Firstly, and ABSOLUTELY the most important thing, is that you should never feel pressured into doing anything like that. You can always say no, at any time!"
Dev nodded, then smirked a little and asked, "Even if it's a bet?"
Rob chuckled slightly. `Always pay your bets!' was one of the school's unspoken rules, although for an unspoken rule it sure got spoken a lot! "That's different," he said with a hint of a smile, "You know if you make a bet and lose you gotta pay up round here, so you know what that means!"
"Yeah, don't lose a bet!" Dev answered with a cocky grin.
Rob laughed out loud this time, shaking his head in bemusement. "Well, yes, that's good advice too, but I was gonna say don't bet things like that if you're not willing to pay up! Understand?"
"Got it!" Dev nodded. "So what's the second thing?" he asked curiously.
"If you do decide to do butt stuff, starting doesn't mean you need to finish!" Rob stated. "Considering you're essentially shoving something up your butt, it's probably gonna hurt a bit, but you shouldn't really be in pain, but if you are and you want to stop, you can still say no, even after it starts! Consent isn't just a one-time thing! You get me?"
Dev smiled and nodded as he said, "Yeah, I do," and looked a little more at ease. "And... the last bit?"
"Well, this one might surprise you," Rob said, bobbing his head thoughtfully. "I don't know the exact figure, but I think it's something like half of all guys who have sex with guys... don't even do butt sex!"
"They don't?" Dev asked, looking a little shocked. "I thought... that WAS sex for us!"
Rob chuckled and nodded as he replied, "Yeah, for some people it is, but... there's a lot more to it than just sticking your dick in a hole... or being a hole a dick gets stuck in!"
"Do you do it?" Dev asked curiously.
Rob gave a hint of a smile as he replied, "I don't!" As Dev looked at him for a moment, he added, "But my boyfriends do!"
Dev looked a little confused for a moment, prompting him to probe, "What, like... together, but... without you?"
"Mmm-huh," Rob hummed. "They like doing it, I don't like doing it, so they do that together and then I do other things with them both!"
"Cool," Dev said, letting his head bob absently for a moment before he added, "I don't think I wanna do it. At least, not yet, but... it's good to know I don't, like... HAVE to do it!" He took another brief moment to think and asked bluntly, "Can I wank you off? I've tried that with someone before but I don't know if I was any good!"
Rob felt a slight twinge of nostalgia. Back when Rob was in Year 7, his own mentor, Sam, had helped him to practice his sexual skills too. "Sure, no problem," he said with a firm nod, mildly amused at the casualness of both Devon's request and his own acceptance. "Should I... get it out?" he offered.
"Maybe you could do me at the same time just to help show me how you do it!" Dev suggested eagerly.
The two boys settled side-by-side, neither of them stripping fully. Instead they just pulled their jeans and underwear down a little to allow each other access to their dicks. Rob allowed Dev to reach out first, making sure he was happy stroking the more developed dick before reaching across to grab at the younger boy's.
"Wow, you're growing quick!" Rob observed, then smirked and added, "And I don't just mean getting a boner!"
"I hadn't really noticed but I guess it has!" Dev said a little shyly. "You're pretty big too!"
"For my dorm I'm one of the smaller ones," Rob said, grinning as he saw Dev's eyes widen. Not wanting to make the boy insecure, he added, "But in general I think I'm a bit above average!"
"I wonder if I will be," Dev mused, looking down at his small dick grasped between Rob's thumb and forefinger.
"At this rate, probably!" Rob said confidently. The boy certainly wasn't huge, but just in the short time he had known him there really was a visible difference.
"Am I doing this right?" Dev asked curiously as his hand stroked at Rob's dick.
Rob thought for a moment and said, "I don't know if there IS a right' or wrong' way, it all depends on the guy, but I'm definitely enjoying it!"
"Awesome!" Dev said as his hand sped up.
"Hey, go easy," Rob cautioned. "It's not a race. Cumming's fun, but sometimes the build-up is fun too!"
"Okay," Dev replied with an eager nod, then squirmed a little and said, "You're really good at that, by the way. I might cum soon!"
Rob simply smiled back and continued the mutual wank. It didn't take long before Dev's hand stopped and he gave Rob a nervous glance. Moments later, his dick was spitting up a small load over Rob's fingers as he moaned and whimpered his way through an orgasm.
"That felt good!" Dev sighed happily. He suddenly gasped, remembering what he was supposed to be doing as he resumed wanking his mentor. "Are you close?" he asked hopefully.
"Almost," Rob nodded, not wanting to discourage him. He gently reached up under his own t-shirt to start playing with a nipple. It helped speed things along easily and soon enough he had to warn the boy, "I'm about to cum!"
Dev went to pull away, but made himself keep hold, stroking Rob's dick as he squirted up a bigger load. He immediately looked to Rob anxiously.
"That was great," Rob said, stroking Dev's arm gently. Truthfully it was average, perhaps just on the `good' side of average, but if Dev wanted to learn, he could just help him work on his skill over time. Starting on a low note just didn't feel like the right move.
"I'm already looking forward to our next meeting!" Dev said with a grin.
[Wow, so u tied against Crestwood. Maybe we WON'T c u in the 2nd round HAHAHAHA!] Danny typed out and sent to Charlie, sniggering to himself. He had held off from rubbing in the fact that Danny's team had won their first match, against the Fothergill Academy. He was saving that in case Charlie still tried to act smug.
[Don't push me, Kingswood!!] Charlie sent back with a series of angry and annoyed emojis.
[What was that? I cant hear you from up here on the winners podeeum!] Danny replied.
[It's podium, dipshit. Clearly too much time on the pitch and not enough time in the classroom!] Charlie teased.
[I spend plenty of time in the classroom... usually having sex rather than studying, so u may have a point LOLOLOL] Danny joked.
[You're such a perv, but even pervs deserve congratulations. Nicely done with the win! We're totally coming back swinging next time. DEFFO gonna face you in round 2! Gotta go. Need to kick some ass!] Charlie sent back.
"Who ya texting?" Mikey asked with a grin as he leaned over to try and look at Danny's phone.
"Nunya!" Danny replied as he slipped his phone away.
"Who's that?" Mikey asked with a confused frown.
"Nunya fuckin' business!" Danny said with a broad grin.
Instead of being annoyed, Mikey just chuckled gently and slipped his arm through Danny's. "That was funny," he said softly.
"Thanks," Danny said happily. He glanced at Mikey for a moment and said, "You did so good today!"
Mikey shrugged and pulled himself a little closer to nuzzle against Danny. "Maybe," Mikey sighed. "Maybe I shouldn't have come back yet," he mused.
"Maybe, maybe not," Danny replied with a shrug, "But I do know everyone's glad to have you back, even if you were only away a few days!"
Mikey rolled his eyes and scoffed, "Yeah right. Bet nobody even noticed I was gone!"
"Okay, now that I DO know!" Danny said, nudging Mikey away to make him sit up as he nodded emphatically. "Obviously Nicky missed you. Mr Rudd was so sick of him asking for any news about when you'd be back!"
"Well yeah, but that's just Nicky," Mikey shrugged. "And don't say you too. I know you just needed me back for the match!"
"Partly true," Danny smirked, "But I just wanted you back. The dorm felt weirdly empty without you. Chris said the same!"
"Hmmm," Mikey hummed thoughtfully.
"I know Mark missed you, he said putting up with Chris and Nicky without you was painful!" Danny sniggered, getting a chuckle from Mikey. "David keeps talking about wanting to do more stuff with you too, and keeps talking business ideas!" Danny went on.
"Oh, that's nice!" Mikey said happily.
"And you KNOW Josh missed you. He's very subtle about it, but I decoded the secret meaning of his words after he said to us the other night, `Hey, I really miss Mikey!' but maybe I'm reading the signals wrong," Danny said with an exaggerated shrug.
"Funny," Mikey said dryly.
"And I tell ya, Nicky was SO sick of everyone asking after you. Harley was asking after you every day. Jazz said basketball and tennis were dull without you! So many people in just a few days," Danny explained. "So I know you claim to never be wrong about things, but... if you think nobody missed ya, that's a big fat WRONG to that!"
Mikey sat silently for a moment, seemingly taking it all in.
<<Totally making it all up!>>
Mikey winced slightly, then leaned over to grip onto Danny again as he said, "Thanks!" After taking a few more moments, he grinned and asked, "So who was ya really texting?"
Danny just rolled his eyes and chuckled as he shook his head.
"Oh... my... fucking... god..." Chris gasped as he stared up at his own dick for a moment before it dribbled out a small but intense load, his third of the evening. Panting heavily, he felt the dick inside him pull out as the hands holding him up let him flop down onto the ground. "Seriously," he panted. "Oh... my... god!"
"Quiet, still busy here!" James admonished him.
Chris reached up to casually scoop the spunk that had missed his mouth onto his tongue as he watched James and David still going at it. What had started out as teasing about his two friends' foray into the world of exotic sexual positions had turned into an agreement to help them out with it. Chris had only really been with either of them in a group setting before, on the few occasions the entire dorm had played together, although he did have a mutual wank with James at the last Kinkswood, though that had been quite brief.
David and James weren't that showy about their sex life together. They weren't shy about it either, feeling no shame in admitting their new relationship was every bit as physical as it was mental and emotional. Yet Chris and the others really knew very little about what went on between them, particularly since they started fucking. To say Chris was shocked would be an understatement. They were like machines!
Chris knew he wasn't the most sporty boy in the dorm, but he thought he was at least moderately fit, but he had struggled to keep up with James and David as they fucked, sucked, wanked, licked, touched, rubbed, frotted and contorted their way through more positions and techniques than Chris could even imagine.
"What's that one called?" Chris asked as he laid flat on the ground, still exhausted as he watched the two boys together.
"The Bouncer!" David replied a little breathlessly as he sat atop James, "I like to... finish on this one!"
"He just likes having an excuse to cum on me cos he knows it annoys me!" James said, rolling his eyes.
"Yeah, you look SO bothered!" Chris sniggered sarcastically.
"Shut up," James blushed.
"Oooh, you should shut HIM up!" David said as he looked at Chris, "Sit on his face!"
"Awesome!" Chris laughed as he suddenly found a second wind.
"Aww, come on!" James grumbled.
"Hey, we used the flavoured lube for a reason!" David sniggered wickedly.
James tutted, rolled his eyes and agreed, "Fine!" A moment later, he had Chris' butt in his face.
"Wanna make out til I cum?" David asked playfully.
"Well who could say no to that!" Chris chuckled briefly, though it was cut short by a surprised groan as he felt James' tongue on his hole. "Oh fuck!" he shuddered.
David grinned and whispered, "He'll never admit it, but he loves doing that!" As Chris laughed at the comment, David pulled him into a kiss as he continued bouncing on James' dick.
Slightly disappointed that he really didn't have another load in the tank, Chris happily made out with David as James rimmed him, occasionally reaching down to tug at his own semi-hard, wet sticky dick. As he felt vibrations coming from moans against his hole, he felt James tense a little and could tell he was cumming. David was showing no signs of stopping and continued to bounce while kissing Chris until he suddenly pulled back, let out a pleasured gasp and shot his second load of the evening onto Chris' stomach and cock.
"Bejesus!" Chris exclaimed as he pulled back for fear of smothering James, "Please tell me you're done!"
"I guess we could stop there," James said with a casual shrug as he propped himself on his elbows with David still perching on his lap, though he had now released James' legs.
"You guess..." Chris started, shaking his head. "Fuck me, you two are... mental!" he exclaimed, but quickly added, "In a good way!"
"Thanks," David chuckled.
"Chris, do you think Danny might be interested in this too?" James asked thoughtfully. "I was actually thinking we could double date and then all have sex after. There's some things I'd like to try!"
Mildly amused by the candour, Chris nodded as he said, "Sure. I think he'd actually quite like that."
David looked at James and gasped a little as he asked, "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
"Usually, yes," James shrugged, "So it seems probable!"
"Do I wanna know?" Chris asked wryly.
"Yes, but we're not telling you. You speak to Danny and we'll arrange a day we're all free!" David said, smiling ecstatically.
The Year 10 football team were welcomed back to a cheer and applause as they headed into the Year 10 Common Room, celebrating their win with their classmates. Unfortunately, thanks to the trip home taking slightly longer than expected because of a traffic jam, their celebration was brief before they were all herded off to their dorms by Mr Rudd.
"Not you," Mr Rudd said as he grabbed Josh's shoulder as the boys began to leave.
"Hi!" Josh said, giving the man his usual grin.
"Hi," Mr Rudd chuckled back. "Just need a minute to talk about something," he requested. He glanced round at the emptying room and saw Adrian and Kyle chatting, casually holding hands as they faced each other. Rolling his eyes, he called out, "You're saying goodnight, not goodbye forever. Move it along!"
"Hey, you can't hurry love!" Adrian said back with a grin that quickly dropped as he got a glare from the teacher. "Run!" Adrian said as he dashed for the door, dragging Kyle behind him.
Josh laughed at the other two boys, then looked to Mr Rudd and, now that they were alone, stated, "Hi dad!"
"Hey son," Mr Rudd smiled. "Here," he said as he sat down on one of the sofas near the TV, patting the seat beside him.
"More news?" Josh asked curiously. "Is Tate dead yet?" he asked coldly.
"Josh!" Mr Rudd said, shaking his head a little as he frowned disapprovingly.
"I know, sorry, I don't mean that," Josh sighed. "So this is about the other one then?" he asked, referring to his other brother.
Mr Rudd nodded. "They've got a funeral date. It's going to be on Tuesday the seventeenth!" he said softly. He held for a moment to see if Josh would react, but he just sat silently. "Now I know that's in the middle of your next round of chemo, but Dr Julius has said we'd be able to..."
"No!" Josh interrupted, shaking his head. "I'm not mucking up my schedule for that!" he said slightly bitterly. As he got a concerned look from Mr Rudd, he added, "But honestly... I decided not to go anyway! Why would I want to say goodbye to someone I wouldn't even be willing to say hello to?"
Mr Rudd nodded gently and replied, "That... IS a fair point."
"Besides, I'm not gonna sit there and pretend to be sad he's gone," Josh went on. As he looked Mr Rudd in the eye, he continued, "Y'know, since I found out Ryan's dead and Tate's probably not waking up, I've literally never slept better. I think I was always a bit scared they'd just show up one day... which is pretty reasonable considering they both did... but... knowing they can't, knowing my stuff with them is REALLY over. I've never felt better!"
Mr Rudd reached out to stroke Josh's back and started, "I..." He stopped and sighed, shaking his head a little. "I probably shouldn't say this, but... I actually agree. I'm definitely a lot more comfortable knowing that the people who hurt you aren't out there anymore!"
"Oh, I thought... you'd be all, like... `you should go, you should say goodbye, you should get closure' or whatever!" Josh said, smiling a little.
"No," Mr Rudd replied, shaking his head. "If our positions were switched and it was MY abusers who were gone, I'd be pretty happy too!"
Josh reached out to grasp the man's hand as he said quietly, "You've never talked to me about that!"
"I will," Mr Rudd nodded, "One day!" He gripped tightly onto Josh' hand as he said, "For now, let's get YOUR shit outta the way before we start unpacking mine!"
"Good deal!" Josh said as he leaned in to hug the teacher. A few moments later, Josh headed out one of the Common Room's exits to head back to the dorm as Mr Rudd left through the other. "Oh, hey," Josh said as he almost ran face first into Mark.
"Hey, everything okay?" Mark asked, having seen Josh get kept behind by Mr Rudd.
"Yeah, just..." Josh paused, pursing his lips a little as he pondered what to say, ultimately opting for honesty. "I'm not going to Ryan's funeral!" he stated.
Mark looked back at him for a moment and nodded. "Good!" he said bluntly, "He doesn't deserve you!" He blushed a little, but didn't flinch as he remained confident in his statement.
"Thanks, I knew you'd get it," Josh nodded. "Oh, congrats by the way. Heard you were on fire today!" he said, feeling a twinge of sadness at missing the match, but pleased with his team's success.
Further down the hall, Chris and Nicky were just on their way back from the bathroom when Nicky stopped them at the corner. Pointing ahead to where Josh and Mark were talking, he looked to Chris with a grin and asked, "You see what I see?"
It took Chris a second to recall their conversation with Josh earlier, but when he did, he chuckled and let out a sigh as he put an arm around Nicky, watched wistfully and said, "They're glowing!"
Two of the beds in the dorm laid empty. Nicky and Mikey had both vacated their usual spots to join Chris and Danny on their conjoined bunk once Mr Rudd had been round for his final check of the evening. Lying together, the four boys had enjoyed `wank time', though most of them had ended up cumming through things other than wanking. They could have called it a celebration of the football win, or of Mikey's return, but in reality it was just a normal Saturday and something they wanted to do because it was fun!
Once they were finished and cleaned up, they had flopped down together in a pile, casually draped across each other in a tangle of bodies and limbs.
"I really missed you," Nicky whispered in Mikey's ear.
"I know. Danny told me!" Mikey whispered back.
"Did he tell you I missed you too?" Chris said, making it clear none of them were asleep and that attempts to stay quiet were a little pointless.
"He did!" Mikey giggled.
"Well, doesn't Danny have a big mouth!" Nicky teased.
"Yeah, and it's usually full of cum!" Mikey added with a snort of laughter.
"Hey!" Nicky and Chris both said at once.
"It's okay, you don't need to do that!" Danny said, shaking his head a little. Nicky had already been defensive of Danny, having suspected for months that he was being `bullied', but having now confessed his feelings to Chris, he was joining in on the defensiveness. It was considerate but a little annoying.
"Do what? What did they do?" Mikey asked, a little lost.
"Nothing. Never mind!" Danny said dismissively, then quickly moved the subject on as he said, "So Mikey, you... said you'd... tell me... or all of us... something tonight! Well, it's tonight now, so..."
<<Ugh, of course he remembered. Shut the fuck up you cum-filled slutbag!>>
Mikey flinched a little.
"You don't have to," Danny added as he felt the recoil.
<<Aww, he's so considerate. He's so sweet!>>
"No, I want to. I... actually... need to!" Mikey said as he sat up. As Chris reached out to click on a lamp, Mikey moved to the foot of the double bed and sat cross-legged facing the other three who all sat up too. "How much... has he told you?" he asked Chris and Danny, letting his eyes flit briefly to Nicky.
"Nothing," Nicky answered for them, "Not my place to!" He gave a supportive smile.
<<Nicky's so nice too. We love Nicky!>>
Mikey nodded and let out a sigh as his hands casually fiddled with the bedding in front of him. "So... at Christmas, I kinda... talked to my parents about some of the... the really SHITTY things I've... I've told you about!" he said shakily.
<<Woah, hey, what's this now? What's the plan here? The fuck you think you're doing?>>
"It turns out, a lot of it... a lot of the stuff I remember, I might not be... remembering it quite right!" Mikey explained, then fell silent for a moment.
<<Umm, WRONG! You're totally remembering it right, but it's not like they're gonna sit with other witnesses around and say `hey, we hate our kid', are they? Use your fucking brain!>>
"It's got us talking a bit more and I started... telling them about... just... about stuff," Mikey explained.
<<Yeah, and look where THAT got you. You're certified fucking MENTAL! Stop now!>>
"So they took me to see a couple of doctors while I was at home," Mikey continued, shaking a little, looking almost visibly pained as he spoke, "That was why I was late coming back!"
<<Seriously. Fucking stop. Cease. Desist. Conclude. End.>>
"They... they talked to me a lot... about a lot of things and, well they said it definitely sounds like something's... not right," Mikey said, his hands clenching together now nervously.
<<If you do this you can NOT take it back. This'll be it. You'll stop being Mikey and start being the crazy fucking lunatic they want out of their dorm!>>
"They said they could refer to me the... umm... I think it was called a community mental health team, but... but that woulda meant staying with my parents and I just wanted to get back here, so... so they're referring me to one here with help from Doctor Arkwright!" Mikey explained.
<<It's a cold. Tell them you have a cold. Maybe flu, yeah, that's worse than a cold, they'd buy that, they're not that bright!>>
"Cos... cos..." Mikey stuttered, struggling to push on.
<<Don't do it. They'll hate you!>>
"Cos they... umm... they said, well, they're not completely one hundred percent sure. That's why I need to keep seeing people, so they can confirm what it is," Mikey rambled.
<THEY WILL HATE YOU! STOP! DON'T DO IT FUCKWIT!>>
On the verge of tears, Mikey continued to flinch as he said, "They said they think that maybe... maybe I have..."
<<IF YOU SAY IT I WILL SCREAM AND I WON'T STOP!>>
"They think I have schizophrenia!" Mikey said, sniffing as his jaw quivered.
<<Well... you've really fucking done it now, haven't you! Say goodbye to everything!>>
"I'm sorry," Mikey immediately apologised. "You... you probably want me to... to leave or... switch dorms. I'm sorry, please... please don't hate me!"
All three of them were on him in a matter of seconds, holding him in a four-way hug.
"D... don't you... hate me?" Mikey asked, confused. "He... he said you'd hate me if I told you!"
"No! Of course not!" Chris insisted.
"We could never hate you!" Nicky added. "Why would we?"
"Well... b... because... just... because..." Mikey stuttered, confused once again by the dichotomy of what he knew and what he was being told differing so greatly.
"Hey, hey Mikey, look at me," Danny said, pulling back to wait for Mikey to look at him. "If that's what you have, then all it means is you're not well. Do you hate Josh for being sick?"
"Well... no," Mikey said weakly, "But that's different. That's... that's like... just his body. He's not crazy like me!"
"I have depression!" Danny stated bluntly. The words hung heavily. He had never said them aloud before, either to himself or to anyone else. Staring Mikey dead in the eye, he asked sincerely, "Do you hate me for that?"
"No!" Mikey said, shaking his head.
"Exactly. Whoever's telling you we'd hate you for telling us this... they're wrong. We love you, Mikey. Nothing's changing that!" Danny insisted.
<<This is... unexpected!>>
Mikey nodded back at him, a smile slowly creeping back onto his face as he stopped shaking.
Nicky smiled meekly. Reaching out to place one hand on Mikey's back and the other on Danny's arm, he sighed softly and said, "Come on, I think we've all got a lot to talk about"
