The Human Bearer
Riordan couldn't believe his eyes when he entered the quarters he had shared with Xana for the brief time they had got to be together on Tu'lek. Not only that Junior was there, and the knowledge of having not seen the boy in three whole weeks, of having not held him in his arms, hit him like a ton of bricks, but there was someone else there, keeping the Xenolite entertained by bouncing him on his lap.
"Father," Riordan said tenderly while his feet moved of their own accord. The word escaping his lips had required no conscious effort like other times before. "Why didn't you tell me anything?" he asked Xana, briefly throwing his husband a look over his shoulder.
He hurried to Xeus while Junior immediately wrapped himself around Riordan's arm and reached his shoulder with the speed of light. "Dada!"
Riordan kissed the boy's cheeks loudly and offered his other hand to the older Xeno, who took it while rising to his full height. As usual, Xeus could make any room feel small. A wayward thought, of how his father-in-law would look, not in the tight quarters of a ship hurtling them through space to a known destination, but in a Xeno's natural environment, crossed his mind. Tanez would probably do Xeus a boatload of good. His face, while still as stern and impassible as ever, had an ashen hue that didn't look very healthy. Had Ferix been able to cure him, as he had done with Xana? Or was it still a work in progress, even for the accomplished young doctor?
Such thoughts were quickly interrupted by his young one holding him tightly by the neck. "Where were you, dada? Why were you away for so long? Were you sick, like grandpa?"
"I am so happy to see you, Riordan," Xeus said in a tone that would have suggested to anyone else but him the opposite of those words, or at least an unnatural neutral attitude. As a human being, he needed to remind himself constantly how these aliens processed emotions. Even a seasoned general like Xeus Lei was clumsy around feelings and dealing with them.
"As am I," Riordan said and hugged the older Xeno, crushing Junior briefly between them.
"We were afraid--" Xeus started and then pursed his lips as he stole a quick look at his grandson.
"Dada, you didn't die, did you?" Junior intervened again, blessedly unaware of the unspoken exchanges between the adults in the room. "I knew you weren't dead." He spoke the last word as a whisper, while looking left and right like he expected something to happen if he said anything too loudly.
"How is my little warrior?" Riordan sat, guided with courtesy by Xeus to the sitting area. He pulled Junior away from him briefly so that he could take a good look at him and then hugged him tightly again, making the boy squeal in delight. He showered the small head in kisses. Hopefully, all that fear and anxiety would be gone from the young mind of his son, because he knew that his own mind wouldn't be that great at forgetting. But Junior should be blessed with the short memory of children, so that he'd get to grow up strong and fearless, like his daddy and granddad.
"I fought, dada," Junior said victoriously.
"I suppose that daddy made sure you got your fair share of fighting." Riordan traded a glance with Xana. He received a slight nod in return. "And now you have so many stories to tell me."
"But where were you, dada?" Junior insisted. His bottom lip quivered and his eyes filled with fresh tears. "Daddy kept telling me you'd be here soon. Why didn't you come back?"
Riordan caressed the dark head and smiled for the sake of his child. "I was on an adventure," he said simply, knowing fully well that he couldn't lie to Junior. His son was too smart for such cheap tricks. At the same time, he needed to explain where he had been in a way that his baby boy would understand. While Xenolites were so different in their fast evolution from children from Earth, they had their innocence still.
How much of that was left, seeing how Junior had joined the adults' fight against an evil bent on annihilating them completely?
Junior nodded solemnly and then promptly began pulling at Riordan's garb, clearly bent on searching his breast.
Only then, it occurred to Riordan that three weeks must have been a long time for Junior to go without his mommy's milk. "What did you feed the boy?" he asked Xana. Xeus was sitting by his left, while his husband was on his right. They were both observing him quietly and with a certain amount of curiosity. It looked like he would have to offer all the information he had on his AWOL time, but the Xenos dear to him proved to be patient for the time being.
"Your good friend Cario offered to help right away," Xana explained.
Riordan sighed in relief. "That's great. I must thank him as soon as I see him. How is Drato?"
"He's on the mend," Xana assured him. "As soon as the traitors were all eliminated--"
"All? Where they many?" Riordan questioned. After all, what he had seen from outside the ship, where his and Xana's unborn children fought those ghosts, the number of their enemy had appeared quite high to him as well. Although he had been there, he was still confused about many things.
He helped Junior reach his chest and smiled as he felt the small sharp teeth around his nipple. It would hurt a little, but it was all worth it, in the end. It was worth it to see his family again.
"My love," Xana said while wrapping one arm around him.
"Yes?" Riordan asked and looked at his husband, only then realizing that his eyes were swimming in fresh tears because his vision was blurry.
"Do you hurt anywhere?" Xana's words were tender and thoughtful. Of course, Marn was right. Theirs was a special bond.
"No. Not anywhere in my body, although Junior really shows his warrior colors when it comes to feeding himself," he joked and smiled. "I'm just so happy to see you. I'd never put you through any pain if I could help it. I wish I knew where I was for so long, and what happened to me after the attack on the ship ended. Ignore my tears. They're tears of joy," he hurried to assure his husband. "What happened to all of you? Unlike me, you don't suffer from amnesia. Father, I am so glad to see you are alright." He turned to face his father-in-law. "I was worried sick about you."
"I appreciate it, Riordan," Xeus said stiffly. "Our young doctor deserves to be called a prodigy as you name excellence on your home planet. I am still not fully recovered, as I am an old Xeno and it shows."
The way Xeus talked made Riordan believed that, like Marn, the older Xeno must have studied the Earthian lingo to express himself right now. He made an effort, and Riordan was grateful. He looked at his son, at the expression of pure delight on the small face as he sucked greedily from his mommy's tit.
"Did Junior behave while Cario breastfed him?" Riordan asked, brushing his lips against Junior's forehead. Talking about the little things made him feel closer to what was real. Xana would surely fill him up on all the blanks from the fighting that had taken place inside the ship later on. In case there were terribly things that shouldn't be brought up in front of Junior, that would be for the better.
"I was very good, dada," Junior said, letting the nipple go for a moment to justify himself. "But his milk is not as good as yours."
"I hope you didn't tell Cario that," Riordan said, making his eyes grow wide only to watch Junior do the same.
"I did," Junior said. "Because it was the truth."
"Yes, but when it's about such small things, you can be polite and lie a little bit. Very little." Riordan showed with his thumb and forefinger what he meant by that.
Junior pursed his lips. "Cario would know anyway," he said with a shrug of his small shoulders. "He knows what Dario thinks, all the time." Having said what he had to say, he returned to the delicious meal in front of him.
Riordan kissed his forehead and let his child be. He was right, of course, and so logical in his thinking, like his daddy. Finding fault in that would be wrong.
"I will leave you three alone, as I must return to the med bay," Xeus said. "As soon as I heard of you having been found, I wanted to see you in flesh and blood, Riordan. And I would like to hear of your adventure. As much as you can tell us."
Riordan nodded. "Yes, father. I will share everything with you. And we will wait to see you again. As soon as the doctor says it's fine."
Xeus offered a small bow and saw himself out. Riordan looked after him, his head full of new thoughts and a bit of worry. "How is he, really?" he asked Xana, in a whisper.
"Better than hoped. On Earth, you would be right to call Ferix Baserat a magician. Here, we say that he is only doing his duty."
"You Xenos and your high standards," Riordan said and smiled. He brushed his nose against Xana and they kissed each other gently.
He relaxed as Xana wrapped him in his arms. His husband was gentle as he held Junior cradled against his forearm and looked at him with so much love in his eyes. Was this what Marn had seen of Xana changing? Yes, Xana was a changed Xeno, because he loved and loved dearly. And Riordan felt moved as he realized that there hadn't been enough time for them to spend this way, as a family. Even to himself, it was such a great thing to have, even though he wouldn't have thought it possible to miss while still on Earth, because there, being on his own mattered the most. His own man, living on his own terms. And now he was happy without having any of that anymore.
"Sleepy," Junior said as he seemed to have had his fill. "Dada, don't go away while I sleep. Promise?"
"Yes, I promise," Riordan said and caressed Junior's forehead. "I'll hold you close while you sleep."
To his surprise, Junior wiggled out of his embrace and slithered towards the water tank. "Grandpa says that I should sleep here to get stronger. I'll get strong to protect dada and everyone."
Riordan exchanged a look with Xana. "He's growing up so fast," he said with a shadow of regret. "How about one last goodnight kiss, Junior?" he added, louder this time, as he began walking to the water tank.
His son swam up to the surface, since he'd been quick to get inside. Just the same as when he was the smallest Riordan could remember, he stretched his arms out, letting his parent hike him up and kiss him on the cheeks.
"Sleep tightly, honey bunny," he said.
Junior yawned and grinned at him. Then, he rolled to one side and delved back into the water with a splash that reached Riordan and made him laugh.
When he turned, the look on his husband's face was readable enough. Still, he asked, "What?"
He was quite aware of the invisible wall being erected between them and their sleeping child. His husband must have been worried about him enough. And now, he had other things on his mind.
"Fifteen more children," he said slowly as he approached the bed. Xana followed his every move, his eyes keen and knowledgeable. "How are we even going to raise them all?"
Xana stretched his arm out and Riordan took his hand. "They will come to us through the many decades of our lives, my love."
"Well, that's reassuring, I guess," he said, pretending that he wasn't aware of Xana's long tail wrapping itself around one of his legs and reaching higher and higher.
He shivered as the muscled appendage snuck between his butt cheeks, finding its way around, as usual. And then, he was pulled down and made to crash against his husband's chest.
"Aren't you dressed too formal for this occasion?" he asked. "Although I like you in your uniform. By the way, I only now realize that your coat changed. Ferix made me understood the importance of this piece of fabric for your lot."
"Yes. A diplomat like me became a warrior in due time," Xana explained. "I suppose that my sire's blood is strong in me. I can't shake off my destiny."
"Is your destiny to vanquish all our enemies?"
"Yes," Xana replied simply.
"Excellent. I truly love you for it." Riordan wrapped his arms around Xana's shoulders as he felt his husband's hands taking him out of his garments. There were so many questions on both their minds, but dwelling on them as their bodies showed how much they had missed each other seemed like a cruel punishment.
He panted as Xana began kissing his jawline, tracing long lines along with his tongue. In the beginning of their being together, Riordan had believed that it was demeaning to feel so much pleasure at the hands of his owner. The owner had become his lover, his husband. The father of his children, as cliché as that could be seen. Although, in this case, Riordan knew that the alien father had a lot more involvement in the creation of their children, quite the difference compared to Earth.
He let himself placed on his back, while Xana used both his hands to roam all over his body. Riordan laughed, tickled as Xana insisted around the baby bump. Although the thought came to him suddenly, he smiled as if he'd known that all along.
"I'm proud," he said, "of being yours. Of being the one you chose as your bearer."
"You're more than just my bearer," Xana assured him. "I love you more than anything, Riordan. Although I thought love was Earthian and nothing more, I now know it, just how much you mean to me. I want to know everything about you, every thought you have."
"That would be a little silly, don't you think? I mean, I've been known to have the occasional brain fart once in a while. I wouldn't want your logical thinking become infected with that sort of thing."
"Too late," Xana said. "I believe it's safe to say I love your brain farts, too."
"Eww, that was a bit weird right now," Riordan joked. "Let's not talk about stupid things anymore. Let's not talk about serious ones, either. Or maybe, let's not talk at all."
"Understood," Xana said right away and covered his mouth with his.
They had been missing each other for so long. Although Riordan couldn't remember a thing of the three weeks he had spent drifting in space somewhere, with no knowledge of his own condition or that of others, only knowing that his husband and son had missed him for days and weeks was enough to cause a wave of tenderness to grow inside him until it became a flood. He caught Xana by the neck and kissed him harshly, not because he wanted to hurt him but because he wished there was a way to express all the desire he felt right now, a desire to be close, closer than he had ever been in his life to anyone. Words weren't enough. Not even the Xeno mindreading would help now. But actions did. They spoke louder than words, and that was exactly what he had in mind.
He let himself slide lower and peppered Xana's now naked torso with kisses, insisting around the nipples and making them hard as he sucked with a vengeance, until he heard a small hiss from his husband.
"Riordan," Xana warned playfully. "I love this side of yours. The part of you that wants me so much."
"What do you mean? I want you with everything I have."
"Then prove it," Xana challenged him with an all-knowing smirk.
To know that they could fall into the same pattern of pleasant reciprocity, even after being separated meant that they were truly in love and would always be. Fifteen kids was no longer something undoable. On the contrary, Riordan felt a deep ache for having all of them at once, and it was different from the pain of losing them when they had fought those evil forces. Marn's explanations made a lot more sense now that his anger had faded, and happiness at seeing his loved ones replaced it. They would all be with them, with him and Xana, and their older siblings.
"I will sure love the practice of getting those kids," he said with a small laugh and used that moment to grab Xana's engorged cock by the base.
He began rubbing the thing against his cheek, teasing it with small flicks of the tongue now and then. Xana smiled and his eyelids dropped as Riordan teased him. But he allowed himself to be fooled too soon. When his husband rolled him on his back in one fell swoop, there was little for him to do in terms of resistance. Xana fed him seth from his tongue and his cock and tail were immediately at his backside, probing him and penetrating him, without leaving him any room to do anything but surrender.
He lay there, enjoying the lovemaking Xana poured into him. He was no longer scared by how his husband's tail moved inside him, reaching deeper and deeper. He also knew that Xana would never let anything happen to him, as long as he could help it, and that was love, too.
"I will put my sons and daughters inside you," Xana promised before kissing him again and shooting deep inside Riordan's ass.
"And I'll keep you to that promise," Riordan said in kind.
