The Human Bearer
Kyle was the perfect homie, slash accessory to crime he had ever had the chance to meet in his life. After some brainstorming with his bot, they had both reached the conclusion that for them to sneak around efficiently, Riordan only needed his master's imprint. When asked what that meant, Kyle had promptly generated a long code that practically gave Riordan the same freedom of movement on the ship as his master.
"So, it's like some sort of cloaking," Riordan said while pondering over the feasibility of this kind of undercover mission. "But I cannot really pretend to be Xana. The guards and everyone else can surely make a difference between a 7-foot snakeman and a preggo bearer."
"The imprint is not for them," Kyle explained. "Ever since the attack, there's a shortage of personnel everywhere. Florent Kasido might be of great interest to the high commander, but he is not considered a threat."
"Are you trying to tell me that he isn't guarded?"
"Not by living guards. Computers, yes, as you would say in your world."
"I'll be damned," Riordan whispered. "So, we can fool those machines, right?"
"That is exactly what I'm thinking." Kyle's more and more human-like speech was something else. Riordan had felt comfortable around the bot since they had started their partnership. Whether it was sanctioned by Xana or not, their friendship was one made in heaven... one for dudes up to no good, but still.
It wasn't only because he needed to stuff a bearer down Kanto's throat so that his ass didn't end up fucked by the guy's tail. Now, he was curious of this strange bearer, who seemed brave enough to board a ship and face a snakeman like Kanto's wrath. Even without knowing Florent, Riordan felt that he knew at least one thing about the guy. He must have a pair of steel on him.
"Is there no time when there are guards around? They must at least bring him food. They're not starving him, I hope."
"No. I believe the right way to say it would be that Florent Kasido is treated humanely, given the circumstances."
"Well, I suppose that's debatable, seeing what kind of species we're dealing with, but as long as he's not starved, I'll take it. When do you think it would be a good time to pay Florent a visit? You know, without stumbling upon some guard with a bowl of soup for him."
"That would be between lunch and dinner, when Master Xana is busy with council work. We don't want him to find out, right? Please, confirm, Master Rio."
"You know me. I do my best work without Xana looking over my shoulder."
"I will look over your shoulder. Do you find that inconvenient?"
"No, you're my homie. We're totally in this together. Plus, you always agree with me."
"Always," Kyle confirmed cheerfully.
"See? Tomorrow, after all the lunch excitement dies down, we're on a mission. And, needless to say, not a word to Xana."
"You can count on me, Master Rio."
He hoped that he could equally count on himself, too. Xana was really annoying with all that mind-probing. He'd have to think of some moronic things while they were together so that his master got bored with reading his mind.
Making himself scarce, with Kyle on his tail, was easy. However, he must have become a little paranoid, because he didn't like it at all how stale the air seemed to be. Not that it wasn't natural to be, since they were on a ship and oxygen was probably recycled like crazy. He would investigate the life support functionalities of the ship another time. For now, he had only one mission: to reach the lowest deck, where the prison cells were, without being noticed by anyone.
That appeared uncomfortably easy. All the bearers seemed prey to some sort of apathy, while the Xenos weren't very lively, either. Was that only his imagination, or was the entire ship prey to some sleeping spell? Even his head was getting heavy and he needed to shake off the cotton like sensation more than once.
The only unaffected appeared to be the lizard guards, but they weren't paying him any particular attention. Their workload had increased significantly since the attack, so they weren't in the business of wondering why he was roaming the place like that.
All for the best. Kyle guided him towards the elevator and then they began their descent. Riordan did a double take at his bot when the elevator stopped abruptly.
A metallic voice came from a speaker located above the door. "Your next stop requires special clearance. Present your identification."
Riordan didn't have to tell Kyle what to do. His bot fed the generated code of Xana's imprint into a slot by the door.
The metallic voice appeared satisfied with it. "Identification complete. Have a nice day, Counselor Xana Lei."
It had worked. It had fucking worked, and he wanted to jump for joy and hug Kyle, his sleepiness from before all forgotten. However, he didn't want to draw unnecessary attention, so he kept silent until the elevator, now back at its smooth descent, stopped and its doors opened in front of him.
The first thing Riordan noticed was how cool the air was down there. Was there more than just a prisoner kept in those cells? He hadn't asked Kyle, an oversight from his part. Left, right, and center, three corridors open, similar enough in design to believe there was nothing to make one special from the others.
"Where to?" he whispered.
Kyle replied in his normal voice. "Straight ahead. We will find Florent in the last cell on the right."
Riordan hushed him. "Let's keep it down."
"There's no need," Kyle assured him. "No one else is here."
Yeah, the silence was absolute and overbearing, now that he thought about it. That gave him the creeps even more than having some random prisoners listen in to their conversation.
"Let's go," he suggested, but he didn't raise his voice. Even his steps on the smooth metallic floor seemed unusually loud.
"Who's there?" a voice called out from the end of the hallway.
It was a young voice, filled with fear. Riordan hurried to put Florent's mind at ease and said loudly, "We're friends."
"You're not the high commander," the voice accused him, now veering towards uncertainty and confusion. "Did he send you to kill me? Stay where you are!"
"We're not going to kill you. We just want to have a talk with you."
Riordan was surprised to see why he could hear Florent so clearly. The cell had no front wall to speak of, so there had to be something else holding the prisoner a few good feet away from it. He had no intention to test it on his own, so he remained at the threshold, seeing how there was such a thing as an anteroom, around two feet wide, before he would reach the cell itself. He made a waving motion with his hand.
Florent looked as attractive as in the picture Riordan had seen of him, only that he was skinnier and there was a wild look on his face. The cell was lit enough, just as the hallway, but the blue light lent everything an eerie, impersonal air.
"Do they turn their lights off so that you can sleep?" he asked the first thing that crossed his mind.
Florent was completely naked and stood on the floor, huddling himself as if he were trying to take up as little space as possible. He raised his head to inspect Riordan, but he looked down quickly as if he were afraid just staring at his visitor would come with some sort of punishment.
Riordan took a couple of moments to inspect the cell. It had a couple of surfaces that counted as beds and a small door that had to conceal a bathroom for the prisoner's hygiene needs. Otherwise, the place was completely bare of any furniture. It was a wonder the guy wasn't already off the rails, spending his days and nights with nothing to do on his hands like that.
"My name is Riordan," he started.
"What do you want?" Florent asked, keeping his head down. "You're a bearer," he added in an accusatory tone. "And you're pregnant."
"Yeah, I guess it's pretty obvious."
"What kind of sick game are you playing now?" Florent asked. This time, he looked up and flashed an angry look at his visitor. "I have nothing to say. So, you can take this friend act and shove it up your ass."
Riordan was starting to like this dude. Clearly, he must have grown from the gullible guy he had appeared to be in that photo. "How would you like to get out of here? Get a boyfriend? I know these snakemen are kind of freaky, but I bet that getting to hop happily on one of their tails beats sitting on your ass here, doing nothing."
This time, Florent looked at him like he had just grown another head and no longer averted his eyes. "What does the high commander want with this?" he asked. "I don't know anything." There was despair behind those words, and Riordan recognized the thing for what was worth. So, his and Kyle's suspicions were right. Kanto thought that Florent had information on his former master and his plans.
Riordan didn't think so. He thought that Florent was scared, that he had just tried to survive, and that story about losing the pregnancy had been used against him for some reason. After all, that general husband of his, ex-husband, whatever he could be called, was an asshole from the little Riordan knew about him.
"How about you tell me your side of the story?"
"My side of the story?" Florent buried his head in his hands and remained like that for a while. Riordan decided against talking again. The guy probably needed some time. "There's no such thing," he added after that loaded silence. "I killed a Xenolite." His voice was low and full of hurt.
Riordan moved as close as he could, hoping that he wouldn't suddenly get chopped into pieces by invisible lasers. Kyle used his robotic arm to stop him, confirming his suspicions. "You didn't," he said slowly.
Florent raised his head again, and this time, his eyes were filled with tears. He pushed against his eyes angrily, his lips pursing and trembling. "What do you know? And who are you? Why are you even here?"
"Well, that would be quite the long story, so let's keep it short so that we can move on to more pressing matters. My name is Riordan, and I'm the guy getting freaky with Xana Lei if that name rings any bell."
"The youngest counselor in the history of Xeno," Florent said and nodded. He wiped his last tears and now looked at him with unhidden curiosity. "I've heard of you. I didn't know you were this--"
"Ugly? Yeah, I know," Riordan said promptly. Better to have that out of the way than dwell on it.
"No. I wanted to say powerful." There was no guile behind the long stare Florent gave him. "How did you even get here? It's impossible for bearers. Unless," he added, and his eyes darkened again, "the high commander sent you to extract information from me. Information I don't have." The last words were hissed through his teeth. This one was capable to scratch to defend himself, given the opportunity.
"Kanto didn't send me," Riordan said. "What have you heard of me?"
"That you are uncouth, speak your mind, and have the manners of a brothel worker," Florent delivered promptly. "And why would you even call yourself ugly? Exotic, yes, but ugly, no." His eyes were clear as he spoke now.
"Thanks, I guess. So I have a big mouth and behave like a prostitute," Riordan said matter-of-factly. None of that surprised or offended him. "Let's get on the same page since I can't be here long. I got here because I wanted to see you, and my homie here, Kyle, did the hacker work."
Florent blinked, not understanding. He looked right and left of Riordan. "There's no one else but you here. Don't tell me they've sent you here because they think you're crazy."
Right. Kyle had to be explain. "Kyle," he said, wrapping one arm around the bot's frame, "say hi to our new friend here, and tell him why you're my homie."
"Certainly, Master Rio. Master Florent, my name is Kyle. I am Master Rio's faithful homie, and it was, indeed, I who generated the imprint code to get us the needed clearance to visit you."
Florent jumped to his feet, took a step back, but then, hesitantly, closed in the distance between them. "I'll be damned," he whispered. "Did you... like program it and stuff?"
"Not it, he," Riordan said promptly. "It was a collaboration. We've worked together. Kyle is out of this world smart."
"Shut up, Master Rio, you're making me blush," Kyle replied and laughed.
Florent brought his hands to his face and slapped both cheeks like he couldn't believe what he was seeing. "It... he sounds so human."
"I assure you, this guy here is more human than many onboard this ship. Now, you see, we're here on a secret mission, and I really want to hear from you what the hell happened between you and your owner."
"It's a long story," Florent said dejectedly. "The general... he hates me."
"Yeah, Kanto can be an asshole," Riordan agreed.
"I don't mean the high commander. I guess he's just doing his job. I mean my master... former owner."
"Ah, that guy. You ran away, right?"
Florent nodded and looked down. "I might have accessed information I wasn't supposed to. So I knew about the evacuation plans and the location of Tu'lek."
Riordan frowned. He was trying to put two and two together. "Did you discover all this info how?"
"You know that thing, where they communicate brain to brain or something?" Florent asked and waited until Riordan nodded. "I listened in. They wanted to reach Tu'lek after the initial attack and destroy it."
"Shit. Something went wrong with their plan, I guess then."
Florent averted his eyes. "Yeah, something."
"Something? Come on, spit it out."
"I can't be sure... But as soon as I was on Tu'lek, the high commander found me. He must have believed me when I told him the same thing. So he must have... you know, left earlier than scheduled."
"But he didn't throw you out."
Florent shook his head. "He thinks there's information to obtain out of me. That's why he keeps me. Once he realizes there's nothing..." He swallowed a sigh and sat back on the floor, his shoulders hunched. "I guess my whole escape plan only postponed the inevitable."
"You must have saved our asses," Riordan said with determination. "Okay, now, listen here, I haven't come here only to look at your naked butt. As far as you know, can you carry another egg?"
Florent shrugged. "Nothing's wrong with me, physically."
"Well, that makes you a valuable commodity on this ship. Do you know about the attack?"
"The high commander asked me what I knew of it. But I don't know anything about it. The lights went off, though, and I could tell there was no air. I locked myself in the bathroom. It seals off pretty well, and I thought I'd have enough oxygen for a while."
Riordan liked this guy. He was a survivor, and that made him an even better candidate for becoming Kanto's egg carrying pouch. "We got attacked. It was bad," he confirmed. "The thing is there are fewer of us than before, and by that, I mean bearers."
Florent frowned. "People died? What happened?"
"It was an attack from enemy Xenos. They killed a lot of guards. And a lot of bearers, too, by cutting the air supply on most decks." Florent seemed on the verge of tears again, and they had no time for it. "Look, the math is pretty simple. If these guys want to multiply, and now it's more important for them than ever, they need to get freaky with the likes of us a lot more than before. Most bearers on the ship have already been assigned a bunch of tails to fuck them up the chute."
"Most bearers?" Florent asked, while it looked like his brain gears were turning.
"Well, all of them. Except for me, but please, don't judge. Xana is a possessive bastard, and I can't say that I regret it now. Okay, so it's not exactly like that. Marn got it in his head that Kanto should put his eggs in me, too, and you can imagine that my guy is majorly pissed off right now."
Florent was staring at him with increased awe. "Are you calling them all by names?"
"Not to their faces, exactly, since they're so pissy. I mean, I do call Xana by his name, as we're in that kind of a relationship, but I surely don't want another spanking, so I keep from calling the others by their names when I'm in their company."
Florent snickered and rubbed the back of his neck. "Spanking? You are so unlike any other bearer I've met, Riordan."
"Most of them don't behave like total prostitutes the same way I do. That's my charm," Riordan said and smiled crookedly.
"It's actually refreshing. These guys tend to be so boring. And, anyways, since I've been here for I don't even know how long, my standards regarding visitors are pretty low."
Riordan laughed at the joke, accompanied by Kyle. "So, Florent, what do you say? I'll put in the word so that Kanto starts to see you as a potential mate. Just looking at you, I'd say that it's a real waste of prime quality bearer booty."
Florent smiled, this time like a guy who knew he was a looker. Then, his face fell again. "I don't know, Riordan. The high commander thinks I'm a threat. Why would you even risk yourself for me?"
"Hey, you're losing the big picture here. I'm doing this for me, mainly," Riordan said. "Although, I'd say that I wouldn't mind us getting chummy. You seem like a cool guy. The point is, Xana is jealous as fuck, and I'm not particular about having more than one snakeman to deal with. I'm all selfish here."
"I don't think so... but how are you even to convince the high commander? Or His Royal Chancellor...? I don't think it's a decision easy to take regarding someone like me, suspected of high treason."
"I don't say that it's going to be easy, but I will say that I'm all for saving my ass the trouble."
"Why wouldn't you want the honor that comes with having two such high-profile Xenos as your masters?" Florent asked.
"Honor my ass," Riordan said with a snort. "Let's say that all those rumors about me being a big mouth and an annoyance are true. I had some trouble getting adjusted to Xana. And, don't laugh at me, but I love my snakeboy." It was his turn to look down, embarrassed. "I don't want him heartbroken over something like this."
"They are so cold. Do you really believe he'd feel that about sharing you with the high commander?"
"Mine is a particular case. Of course, he'll give you the spiel that it's not love and blah, blah, blah, but I'm telling it like I see it. He can't stand the thought of sharing me. And I really don't see how he coming to blows with Kanto would serve anyone. By the way, Marn decided this shit because he got mad at Xana and wanted to punish him."
"What for?" Florent asked.
"That's quite the story. I'll tell you about it another time. Now that I know you, I think you're the best match for Kanto. He needs some sunshine in his life, that guy. He always looks like he eats sour grapes all the time."
"He's frightening," Florent whispered.
That must have been Florent's experience with Kanto, and Riordan couldn't make light of it. "Yeah." He had seen Kanto fighting for his life. That was something that he had to keep in mind, indeed. "Look, man, I'll do my best and more. I'm not saying that it's going to be easy. But I'm like a dog with a bone now. You're my bone," he said and pointed at Florent, winking. "So hang in there."
Florent moved as close as he probably could to the invisible wall. "Thank you, Riordan. I know you say it's for your own good, but thank you, anyway. Are you going to come down here again?"
"You can bet on it. As often as I can. By the way, what's this thing that keeps you inside? I'm curious."
"I don't know how it's called. It's like a field of pure energy," Florent explained. "The high commander made a short and effective demonstration by throwing a small rodent at it. It took an instant. The poor critter was a small pile of ashes before I could blink."
"Yeah, I thought so. Okay, man, see you around."
"Don't forget to call ahead, I might not be at home," Florent joked.
Riordan waved at him and Kyle followed him into the hallway. "So, partner, what do you think?" he asked his bot. "Did you detect any signs of lying or deception?"
"None whatsoever," Kyle confirmed what he himself was thinking. "I believe that Florent Kasido doesn't deserve his imprisonment."
"Same here. How come these guys, who are so smart, don't see it?"
"There is always room for error. They cannot risk it," Kyle explained. "Master Rio, do you believe that it is an interesting fact that Florent Kasido has empathic abilities?"
"Indeed, glad that you mentioned it. I almost forgot about it. And I don't think it was a gift from his master, like in my case. That's quite interesting."
He would like to get to know this Florent guy better. He was, without a doubt, a bearer with a brain, and that was a rare occurrence on Tu'lek.
The elevator shook as they reached the deck where their quarters were located.
"What the hell?" Riordan murmured.
The metallic voice of the elevator began, as if on cue, "All bearers should retire to their quarters. I repeat. All bearers should retire to their quarters."
That continued repeating even as he stepped out of the elevator. And Riordan understood something of the order when he looked around. The apathy from earlier was gone, only to be replaced by the complete opposite, a frenzy that filled the air with the smell of seth and sex.
Riordan moved close to Kyle. The hallways were a sight like the stage of a big-budget porn production. Moaning and groans were accompanied by the squelching sounds of penetration. A bearer was lying on the floor, his robe hiked up, his ass in the air, while two snakemen were fighting for his backdoor, with both cocks and tails, in a weird fascinating dance. The bearer moaned loudly as he was stretched by those hungry appendages, but that was short-lived, as another snakeman shut him up with his cock, stuffing his throat.
A cute young doll, quite preggo by the size of his belly, was held up in the air by strong arms, and there was a to and fro happening between his spread legs, tails and cocks taking turns at penetrating him. A shorter one was on his knees, a tail wrapped around his neck, his throat getting used roughly. His eyes were rolling in his head and he was rubbing his own cock feverishly.
"The fuck..." Riordan whispered. "Kyle, we need to get the fuck out of here."
The alert via the elevator voice seemed a joke. It looked like everyone on the ship was having sex right now. He made himself little behind his bot, and they began moving rapidly. Still, that didn't seem fast or inconspicuous enough because he felt his legs getting cut from under him, while a muscled tail wrapped around his waist, careless of his pregnancy. "You're so full, bearer, and you'll be more," a heated voice said.
Riordan tried to kick, but it was impossible. His bot was brutally pushed to the side by another Xeno with burning eyes. He caught Riordan by the throat and put his tongue inside his mouth as he tried to scream.
Fuck. What the fuck was happening? He was getting dizzy from the seth pumped into his mouth while he could tell a tail was pushing past the tight ring of his ass. He needed to call for Xana... he needed...
Suddenly, he was dropped to the floor. He tried to get up but he was caught again. "I have you," a familiar voice assured him as he was hiked up in a snakeman's arms and taken away from the breeding frenzy.
"Kanto?" he asked and winced when the high commander used his tail to push away one incoming Xeno. The guy was slammed against a wall with a bone-cracking noise and seemed dizzy from the attack.
"I must take you to safety, bearer," the high commander said in his usual stern voice.
