Chapter Five: Welcome Home

The school day was finally over and all Ryan could think of was to get home. When Ryan got outside it was raining white potato flakes. It was extremely cold, Ryan didn't bring a coat, so he used his shoes to skate to his car.

BAWUMP

Ryan crashed into his car causing all the snow to bury him on the cold, icy parking lot. Ryan just laid there taking in all the embarrassment, hoping no one was there to watch that. Sadly, someone crushed his wishes as he heard footsteps crunching in the snow. Ryan scrunched up into a ball waiting for the laughing to begin, but he heard nothing, instead someone reached into the snow and pulled him out of the snow.

"You okay?" Brain asked dusting off the snow off of Ryan.

"B-B-Brian, w-what are y-you--"

"Aw, you're freezing. We need to get you some where warm," said Brian.

Brian reached into Ryan's front pockets and retrieved Ryan's car keys. While holding on to Ryan, Brian unlocked the doors on Ryan's car, put Ryan inside and closed the door. Brian entered from the passenger side and put the keys in the ignition, started the car, and turned on the heater.

"Is that better?" asked Brian.

"Y-Y-Yeah," stuttered Ryan.

There was an awkward silence after that, no one made any noise except for the noise of Ryan's teeth chattering.

Finally, Brian broke the silence and said, "So are we going or what?"

"Excuse me?" asked Ryan.

"School's over and the car's running so are we going?" asked Brian.

"Going where?" asked Ryan.

"I don't know, you're the driver," laughed Brian.

"Did he just invite himself to my house?" thought Ryan. "No, this can't be, this is all too weird. That's it I must be dreaming."

"Brian!" Ryan yelled.

"Whoa, what did I do wrong?" Brian asked puzzled.

"Hit me! Please hit me! Take your fist and punch me right here in the face!" Ryan pleaded.

"Whoa! You alright there buddy? Maybe I should drive," Brian suggested.

Brian got out of the car, walked to the driver's side and opened the door, carried the Ryan out of the car, buckled Ryan into the passenger side, got into the driver's side and started pulling out of the lot.

"So where do you live?" asked Brian calmly.

"Are you serious?" asked Ryan.

"Unless you don't want me to go to your house, then I guess I could just leave now," Brian said sadly.

"No, it's okay. I just didn't think that you'd want to go to my house," said Ryan.

"Why wouldn't I want to go to my friend's house? We are friends right?" asked Brian.

"Friends? Um if you want us to be friends then I guess--"

"Then that settles it, we're now officially friends," Brian laughed. "So where do you live?"

"At the Lincoln Estates," said Ryan.

"Okay, now where have I heard that before?" thought Brian.

"Do you know where that is," asked Ryan.

"Oh, of course I do. I was just thinking about something sorry," said Brian.

TWENTY MINUTES PASSED

Brian pulled into the Lincoln Estates and noticed that Ryan's place was gated.

"Um what's the pass?" asked Brian.

"Hold on, I'll punch it in," said Ryan.

Ryan unbuckled his seat belt and reached over to Brian's side to punch in the pass code but as reached for the box his left hand slipped off the arm rest and Ryan landed into Brian's lap. Ryan just kinda lied there embracing the moment until he remembered he was in Brian's lap his new friend, his new straight friend. Ryan shot up and hit the roof of the car.

"Ow," Ryan cried back at his seat clutching his head with his hands.

"Hey, you okay?" Brian asked looking Ryan in the eye.

"Yeah, I just hit my head. I'll be okay," said Ryan.

"Maybe I should put in the pass code while you just take a breather--"

"No, I'm not supposed to tell anyone what the code is," said Ryan. "Sorry."

"Don't worry, you can trust me. I won't tell anyone," Brian smiled.

Whatever it was about Brian's smile made Ryan feel that he could trust him even though they've talked to each other for a few days.

"Okay, the code is 1-3-0-8-6-9," said Ryan.

Brian punched in the code and the gate opened. Brian looked over at and smiled at Ryan. Then he pulled in and saw a house fit for a celebrity. Brian parked next to a yellow mustang still amazed at the site that he was gazing upon.

Ryan got out of his car and started walking to the front door. Brian noticed this and ran up to Ryan. Ryan unlocked the door to his celebrity house and said to Brian, "Welcome home."
