CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO: THE PRESIDENTIAL RACE

TREY'S POV

"You wanna what?" Bear asked me. We were sitting in a booth at Hal's Diner at lunch alone. The others were on the way as we had left early and I was telling Bear about an idea I'd had the day before.

"I wanna run for student council president," I said in kind of a chipper manner. I was a bit excited about the prospect.

"Why would you wanna do that?" Bear asked.

"Well I was hoping to make a difference at our school, plus it's stuff like this that colleges look at," I said and he got a thoughtful look on his face.

"President Healey," he said as he grasped his chin like he was pondering the possibility. "It has a nice ring to it. What privileges would I have being engaged to the President?" he asked with his patented grin that made me smile.

"I don't know. Maybe we could ask Mrs. Obama what she gets and we can find a way to make that work," I said and he giggled.

"Oh I'm sure I know what Mrs. Obama gets and I'm all for that," he said with an amused smile.

"You naughty manimal you," I said and he laughed.

"Manimal, that's a good one baby," he said still chuckling when Elie showed up.

"Good afternoon boys, what will it be today?" she asked with her usual sunny smile.

"Well Elie we're waiting on our friends but I'll be sure to deprive them of food for keeping someone of your beauty waiting," Bear said pulling out all the charm in his arsenal.

"Oh you hush now. Don't be mistreating those friends of yours," she admonished. "Speaking of that, how's this big galoot treating you Trey," she asked looking at me intently and I knew she expected a real answer.

"Well he's been good to me Elie. Sometimes I have to ask for something twice but for the most part he's good to me," I said and then made sure to smile at him. He shook his head at me but smiled back with twinkling eyes.

"Well that's good to hear... Oh look, here's your tardy friends now," she said as Sean and Carter filed into the restaurant engaged in a lively conversation with Jessica, Justice, and Liberty pulling up the rear.

"Hey guys, hey Elie how're you doing today?" Sean asked as he reached us.

"Now I know you boys didn't leave the ladies to fend for themselves?" she asked while gesturing towards the door that the girls were just now walking through.

"Oh Elie, I hope you don't hold my terrible manners against me?" Sean asked piling on the sugar.

"I'll have to see about that," she said before leaving momentarily to see to some other customers while also giving us time to get our orders straight.

"So what's going on?" Sean asked.

"My baby is gonna be the next student council president," Bear said proudly.

"What, why?" Sean asked.

"To make a difference at our school man. Plus, perspective colleges look at things like that," Bear said parroting me which made me smile proudly as I had trained my beast really well.

"Wow `Trey' that's a good answer," Sean said to Bear sarcastically because he had picked up that I'd probably said the same thing.

"So what's going on?" Justice asked as she took a seat next to Sean who was sitting next to me. Jessica and Liberty slid in next to Bear on the opposite side and Carter took the booth next to us and stood on his knees to join the conversation.

"Well Trey and Bear have gotten so close that Bear's actually voicing Trey's thoughts out loud," Sean joked and Carter snickered. The girls looked confused though.

"I don't get it," Liberty said in response.

"I'm gonna run for Student Council President," I said to them.

"That's great Trey, and you can choose me to be your running mate," Jessica said with a big smile on her face, Liberty rolled her eyes at that though.

"Why would he do that? He actually wants to get elected," Justice quipped.

"Oh and I guess he should choose you?" Jessica asked.

"Well I don't mean to brag, but I was Student Council President during my Freshman and Sophomore years at Whitewood," Justice bragged.

"Of course you were," Liberty said with a roll of her eyes.

"What?" Justice asked.

"Well it's just, when did you sleep?" Liberty asked in return.

"Between the hours of 3 and 5 am," Justice joked, at least I thought she was joking.

"Are you like some kind of genetically modified super twin or something?" Carter asked.

"Now Carter, I can't tell you that or I'd have to kill you," she said with a sinister smile and his eyes went wide, while I struggled to keep from rolling my eyes at her.

"Super freak," Liberty muttered under her breath.

"What was that Lib? You know I can hear you," Justice said.

"Well then what did I say?" Liberty asked with a taunting smile.

"So Trey, who are you gonna get for your running mate?" Justice asked choosing to ignore Liberty.

"I don't know really. I was thinking of just appointing a co-pres after I get elected," I said and Bear smiled big.

"That's the ticket baby. Say it like it's a certainty," he said as he looked at me with that intense look of love and pride in his eyes. I tried to convey the same to him with my eyes.

"You two gonna fuck right here in the booth?" Sean asked which got him an elbow in both sides by me and Justice. "Ow, hey," he said even though I knew he wasn't really hurt.

"Something tells me you'd like to see that Sean. You know, see Trey getting reamed," Liberty said.

"Liberty!" Justice said in shock.

"I'll have you know that I've never been reamed before in my life," I said, but then I looked at Bear which made us both blush and giggle.

"You know, I wouldn't be averse to seeing that myself," Carter said with a teasing smile.

"Carter, don't let these perverts corrupt your pure heart," I said.

"I ain't all that pure Trey," Carter said with a wink as he leered at me and caused me to blush.

"Hey now, watch it Carter," Bear warned which made us all laugh.

We continued to joke around until Elie returned and got our orders. She brought them back with two trips in quick order and we talked leisurely as we chowed down. We had to finish as we needed to be back at school very soon so we hurried along.

Maybe telling my friends and my very supportive Bear about my decision to run for Student Council President was a bad thing because over the course of that week they went into overdrive with campaign speeches and posters and fliers. The school was plastered with my face and it was a little overwhelming with how many people were talking to me.

I didn't anticipate what came next though. I was standing in the hall on Friday after having finished talking to Brandy Carlson and some cheerleader about my plans for the prom when my election committee arrived with gusto.

"So Trey I polled all the people in the know and there is a strong showing of support for you," Jessica said

"Yeah I'm sure all of the football players will be voting for you," Bear said with assurance.

"How do you know that?" I asked.

"Trust me baby, they will be voting for you," he said in a voice that made me worry for the safety of those who decided not to vote for me.

"Trey I want you to look at these new posters," Liberty said as she showed me the posters with "Vote for Healey, A Leader you can Trust" on it.

"Why are you making more posters? Trey has this in the bag already with us on his side," Sean said and Justice agreed.

"Guys, come on now. Of course you think I'll win, with no one else running but Melvin Platter," I said. Melvin Platter was an annoying Senior who was your typical annoying teacher's pet type kid who was a real brown nose. "There's no one else running yet."

"Of course not baby. Nobody's stupid enough to run against a real winner," Bear said as he put his arm around me which made me smile to feel his body next to mine and smell his scent which was his favorite cologne that I had first gotten him for his 15th birthday, plus his own natural scent.

"I wouldn't be too sure about that," Miriam said as she pointed down the hallway.

"That's right people, vote for a real candidate. Alicia Lake for your president," said that woman who went by the name of Alicia Lake. She was walking with a few popular people, a couple of jocks, and... Veronica.

"Hello people, Bear," Alicia said as she reached us, saying Bear's name kind of flirty.

"Alicia," Bear said not in a friendly manner.

"What the hell are you doing? You can't run against Trey," Jessica said hotly.

"Um Jessica, I can do whatever I want, and besides, it wasn't like anyone was really gonna vote for him anyway," she said barely sparing me a glance.

"I'm standing right here. Say that to my face," I said with a scowl.

"Well alright, if that's what you want," she said and started to talk but Bear interrupted her.

"Step off Alicia," he said stepping between us.

"Is this how it's gonna be all your life? Letting Bear fight all of your battles, how sad for your `relationship'," she said condescendingly putting air quotes around the word relationship.

"I don't need anybody to fight my battles for me you air-headed floozy," I said after stepping around Bear and stepping up to her. Some of her jock friends tried to step to me but stayed put after glimpsing Bear, Sean, and Carter.

"Ronnie, what the hell are you doing with her?" Sean asked Veronica who looked ashamed to be seen with Alicia by us.

"Leave her alone Sean, the girl has a mind of her own and has chosen a real candidate over Bear's new, strange flavor of the month," she said trying to belittle what Bear and I had. I had never liked Alicia, especially when she started sniffing around Bear, but this was too far. I was shocked at what came to my mind and that I was actually about to say it since I never was this bold before.

"Try 11 months, which is way longer than he's been with any of the girls he's done. It's definitely longer than he was with you, oh sorry he was never with you was he?" I said and I heard a few snorts of suppressed laughter.

"What did you say?" Alicia asked through gritted teeth.

"I'm saying that Bear went out on one date with you, then he's gets with me, a guy, for 11 months. Some people are probably wondering if you turned Bear gay Alicia," I said and almost everyone with her, including Veronica snickered.

"I will bury you, you faggot geek," she seethed and Bear grabbed her arm. I could see the pain in her eyes and I wanted to stop him but I just couldn't find it in me to care.

"You listen to me, all of you listen to me. You call him a name again, even if you think I won't hear, I'll find out and I will make you regret waking up that day," he said in a low dangerous tone then he released her arm. She looked around at all of us before she turned on her heel and stomped off with her entourage in tow.

"Well this is an interesting situation," Carter said and I shook my head that I would have to battle it out with Alicia for the presidency.

LIBERTY'S POV

I was certainly surprised by Trey's new behavior. The Trey I knew was certainly snarky and a slight bit jaded, but he was mostly reserved with it, only showing those he was close to. He was never one to boldly challenge someone, or even talk to someone like he had done to Alicia.

Now I don't like the girl myself, what with how she blackballed Jessica from the cheerleading squad, but for Trey to talk to her like he did was unheard of where Trey was concerned. At least it was the status quo before the separation between the two of us.

Trey had changed a lot from the guy I had known just a year ago, certainly the guy I had known for the 7 years prior to that. It wasn't necessarily a bad thing, it's just that it was jarring, seeing the new Trey up close. I was still thinking about this at my locker later that Friday when I was interrupted.

"Thinking hard, or hardly thinking?" I heard in a deep masculine voice. I turned and saw a really good looking tall black guy, wearing black worn jeans and a brown sweatshirt on.

"What now?" I asked finding his question really lame, but not minding the view.

"I asked if you were thinking hard, or hardly thinking," he said with a really attractive smile that lit up his handsome face and his... green eyes?

"You have green eyes," I said in response to which he chuckled.

"You noticed. You have dark eyes," he said still with that beautiful smile that I was so not falling for. I had already been burned by a dazzling smile, gorgeous eyes, and a handsome face. I was not going down this road again.

"Great," I said unenthusiastically while putting on an air of annoyance.

"Now that we know what color eyes each other have let's continue with introductions. My name is Christian Grey," he said as he extended his hand and I had to look at him again for I had to have heard that wrong.

"Your name is Christian Grey?" I asked because that was a really weird thing to name your kid, at least I guess.

"Yes it is, and before you ask, no I don't have a freaky sex dungeon," he said with a teasing smile.

"Aw drag, and I was just wanting one of those," I said sarcastically.

"I can find one if you want me to. My friend Sed can work wonders," he said jovially, especially when he mentioned this guy Sed.

"Is this guy Sed your friend, or your `friend'?" I asked

"If by `friend' you mean is he my boyfriend, then no. He is gay though if you wanna know," he said like it was nothing. At least it let me know where he stood on the issue.

"How would your friend feel about you blabbing his secret to a stranger?" I asked as this was a delicate thing.

"Oh he wouldn't care. He's pretty laid back and chill. He doesn't broadcast it, but he doesn't hide it either," he said and it was obvious that he really cared about this friend of his.

"Well whatever. I have to be going now," I said feeling a need to distance myself from this guy. I closed my locker and gave him one last look before walking away.

"Wait a sec," he said as he caught up to me quickly and kept up with my stride. "I wasn't done talking to you yet. For starters, you didn't give me your name," he said and I briefly considered just ignoring him and to keep walking, but I decided that would be rude so I stopped.

"My name is Liberty St. John," I said as I looked at him.

"Yeah I already knew that. I just wanted to get you to tell me," he said which briefly pissed me off before I decided that there was no real reason to be pissed, so I let it go.

"Yeah well if that's all..." I said giving him an opening to get to the point of coming up to me in the first place.

"Okay, I guess you want me to cut to the chase," he said correctly reading my body language.

"That would be nice," I said and I really needed to tone down the bitchiness. This guy wasn't Drake so I needed to ease up. Besides, I had just met him. It wasn't like we were gonna get involved in a 6 year romance which would culminate in our marriage where we would end up having twins just like Justice and I. Wow, I needed to stop hanging with Trey as his imagination was contagious.

"I was wondering if you wanted to go out with me tomorrow," he asked with an earnest smile which on him looked out of place, but at the same time kind of cute.

"I'm sorry but I can't go out with you. I'm not dating right now nor am I interested in dating now," I said which was mostly the truth. I didn't wanna chance the risk of ending up with another Drake.

"Okay then, how about we hang out as friends?" he asked looking hopeful, but sadly I was gonna have to dash those hopes.

"Sorry, but no I can't. Besides we aren't even friends," I said and I could see the disappointment in his eyes which he tried to hide.

"Are you sure you don't wanna go out with me because you think I was the inspiration for Fifty Shades of Grey?" he asked trying to lighten the situation with humor, which I'll admit worked slightly.

"Yes I'm sure. I know that the guy in that book was first not real, second he was white, and third he was a rich adult," I said and he smiled a little.

"So then you'll think about going out with me since you know I'm not some kinky white boy?" he asked with another hopeful smile.

"Well I-" I started, but he interrupted.

"Good, I'll see ya," he said quickly then jetted before I could get another word in. I just stood there looking after him, and cursing the thought that popped into my head that he had looked just as good from the back.

TREY'S POV

This election thing was a great idea going in, but I didn't think of the downside of if. I had thought that I had the weekend off but since Alicia was throwing some party to show the students that she was the right candidate, my friends were busy strategizing. The guys had a game Friday night but they spent Saturday helping me and I came to the realization that maybe I didn't have it in me to do this.

Bear of course saw this on Sunday and shooed everyone off and spent the next hour taking my mind off of things with a mind-blowing blowjob. I have to admit that I was all for his method of relaxation. He then held me as I laid my head on his chest and just relaxed. I loved being close to him like that.

On Monday I was feeling better about things and determined once again to win the election, especially against Alicia. I was walking into school on Monday when I was stopped by the new guy. He was outside the front entrance like he was waiting on me, but that couldn't be the case. He stood from his leaning position as I neared him.

"Hey..." I said dragging it out as I tried to remember his name.

"You don't remember my name, do ya?" he asked, but he didn't look mad or upset about it so I relaxed.

"Oh course I do," I lied.

"Well I'll tell you again anyway. It's Christian, Christian Grey," he said as he extended his hand.

"Well it's nice to see you ag-," I said, but stopped when his name registered. "Say what now?" I asked.

"It's Christian, and no, that guy from the book isn't me," he said with an amused smile.

"Oh of course not. I was just taken by surprise when I heard it," I said and he chuckled a bit.

"Yeah, believe it or not I have this problem a lot. I didn't know so many people were readers," he said and I laughed.

"Yeah it is a surprise. So, what can I do for you?" I asked.

"You're friends with Liberty St. John, right?" he asked and I was suspicious of what he was after.

"Yeah," I said unable to hide my curiosity from my voice.

"Well I was wondering... look I know we aren't friends or anything, at least not yet, but I was wondering, well hoping that I could get you to convince her to go out with me?" he finished and his rambling made me smile a bit.

"So you like Liberty?" I asked flashing him an amused smile.

"Maybe," he said but his face and eyes told the tale.

"What do I get in return?" I asked, teasing him.

"Well what do ya want?" he asked.

"Well," I said as I looked him up and down while smirking. "I'll have to think of something, but I suppose I can do this for you," I said as I stroked my chin. I saw his eyes widen slightly and I knew I had gotten the desired reaction.

"Um... ok," he said a kind of nervously which almost made me laugh that this guy would be worried about lil' ole me.

"Good, now for some advice. If Liberty said no, then it'll be a bear to get her to say yes, and when she eventually does, it may not turn out like you expect," I told him as I knew how she was about some things.

"You seem to know her really well," he said seemingly impressed by my knowledge on the creature known as Liberty St. John.

"Yeah, well I have known her for the last nine years. We had some... problems last year, but we patched things up during the summer so things are more or less back to normal," I said and had a few thoughts about things between the two of us.

"Well it sounds like what I heard, that you were pretty close until last year, but now you two were together again was correct after all," he said and I wondered what else he had heard about me and my friends.

Christian thanked me again in advance for my help and headed inside. I walked in about a minute later and came face to face with that other new guy again. He was headed in my direction and I thought he was going to keep going, but he stopped and flashed me a smug look.

"I bet you think you're hot stuff, but I'm here to tell you that you're not," he said and I rolled my eyes.

"Can you please not talk to me if you have nothing nice to say? I would like to keep negativity around me to a minimum if you wouldn't mind," I said to him which seemed to piss him off that he hadn't rattled me.

"Nobody is going to vote for a fag like you to be Student Council President. I'm gonna make sure of that," he said with a sneer.

"We'll see about that meat-head," I said then walked away before anything more could be said.

I heard him say "fag" loudly after me but I didn't look back. Then I heard what sound like an "umph". I turned to see new guy doubled over and two of the football players high-fiving each other. They caught sight of me and gave a nod of the head before moving on. I looked at him just in time to see him glaring at me. I winked and walked away.

I was feeling happy about the fact that I still had support from the football team other than Bear, Sean, Carter, and Dale, what with some of the guys graduating in the spring. I was headed toward my locker when Calvin and Alex bum-rushed me and started leading me away talking a mile a minute.

"What are you two on? You haven't taken any strange pills have you?" I joked and they laughed awkwardly.

"Of course not. We just wanted to talk to you about something in this direction," Calvin said looking anxious as he and Alex continued to drag me in the opposite direction of my locker which made me suspicious. I pulled away and headed back toward it and a small crowd.

When I arrived at it, I pushed through the crowd of students, some with their phones out snapping pics I saw on my locker in pink spray paint "Gay Faggey 4 Pres". I was pissed off big time. I tried to scrub it off with a t-shirt I had in my locker but it wasn't going anywhere.

"We tried to keep you from seeing it," Alex said looking disappointed like he had done something wrong in not keeping me from seeing the locker. Calvin shared the same look.

"You two didn't do this so buck up," I said even as I was getting even more pissed as people around us were whispering.

"What the heck is going on?" Jessica said as she pushed her way through the crowd followed by Bear and Justice. I saw them notice my locker and each one developed an almost equal pissed off look, only Bear looked pissed off plus ready to hurt someone.

"Who the fuck did this?!" he shouted and I wondered if everyone in school had heard him.

"My, this certainly is a spectacle," I heard in Alicia's voice. I turned to see her with two skanks and one of Bear's teammates named Clyde. I hadn't had many interactions with him despite him being on the team since sophomore year. He was of the gay-neutral faction on the team, meaning he didn't show support, but he also didn't antagonize me or say anything about me, Bear, or Carter.

"You did this didn't you, you stupid slut?" Jessica seethed as she charged Alicia.

"I did no such thing, although I'm not surprised it happened," she said smugly.

"Why is that Alicia?" Bear asked with an edge to his voice.

"Bear, wake up. Look at what he's done to you. It'll only be a matter of time before this stuff starts happening to you. He was flying relatively low under the radar even with his big gay outing, but now he's put a target on his back for ridicule from people who didn't like what he is," she said and while I hated her for it, she had a point that deciding to run for Student Council President thrust me back into the forefront of minds that had more or less forgotten about me over the summer.

"Is that a fact?" Bear asked and several people stepped back.

"Yes it is, and do you really think you'll be allowed to play college football with your big flaming boyfriend on your arm?" she asked and that was the final straw. I opened my mouth to tell the bitch to kiss my ass when Mr. Renner walked up.

"What is going on here?" he asked and it was clear he wasn't in the mood for any bullshit.

"Somebody sprayed this on Trey's locker," Justice said, but it was clear he had already seen it.

"I see. I want everyone but the 4 of you to leave here now. Go on about your business," he said in a no-nonsense manner. Everyone crowding around us reluctantly left, including Alicia and her crew. Calvin and Alex looked at me for a few seconds before I nodded to them which they took as I guess permission to leave.

"Why did you let Alicia go Mr. Renner? She was the one who's responsible for this," Jessica said even though I doubted it now.

"I wanted to diffuse the situation that was growing," he said still looking serious.

"Well what are you going to do about this? She has to pay for this," Jessica said still bent out of shape about Alicia.

"Ms. Martin," Mr. Renner said saying her name formally in a stern voice which quieted her. "Ms. Lake had nothing to do with this. Your friends Mr. Matthews and Ms. Tyler already came to see me about this and I found out who was responsible by looking at the security footage," he said and that definitely shut Jessica up. I had forgotten about the security cameras that had been installed over the summer when the school had been vandalized.

"Carter and Veronica already came to you?" I asked and his features softened.

"Yes they did. They saw your locker and came to inform me. They wanted to do this before you got here but I told them that it would be impossible to cover this up be then," he said which made me happy and pissed. Happy that they cared enough to wanna spare my feelings, and pissed because they had to.

"Well who was it?" Bear asked seeming to calm down a bit, but I could tell that he wanted to get his hands on who had done it.

"Two young men whose identities I won't be revealing until I have suspended them and they have left the premises," Mr. Renner said looking Bear in the eye. They seemed to come to an understanding because Bear simply nodded his head. He told me the janitor was on his way to fix my locker door and told us to keep out of trouble before heading off to, I guess, find whoever had defaced my locker.

"I'd still like to know who did this so I can have a 'talk' with him or them," Justice said putting emphasis on the word talk, which really meant an ass-kicking, and I was reminded how much I cared about her.

"Justice, just let it go. It happened and whoever did it is getting suspended so just drop it," I said looking at my defaced locker again.

"Besides I saw the last time you 'talked' to someone, ie Zane, and I don't think this guy would be able to really talk for a while," Jessica said and I was reminded of the ass-kicking that Justice had supposedly given to Zane which I missed.

"You okay Trey?" Bear asked as he stroked my cheek with his thumb. It was one of his moves that I really liked as it displayed his tender side.

"I'll be fine. I couldn't expect that everyone was gonna except the school queer as the president," I said trying to show a brave face even though it hurt to choke down my real feelings.

"I love you, your family loves you, and your friends love you. All the others can go to hell," Bear said and Jessica and Justice nodded their agreement.

I agreed with them as well. I asked Justice where Liberty was and she said that Liberty wasn't feeling well so she stayed home. The bell rang shortly and we went to our homerooms then to our other classes. By second period my locker door had been replaced and looked newer than all the others around it. What was on it though had pretty much been spread around the school.

On Wednesday Jeremy came up to me and apologized for what had happened. I was confused until I heard that it was his cousin's friends that had messed up my locker door. I knew that they had to be operating under his wishes. Jeremy's cousin, whose name was apparently Todd, had been badmouthing me since he found out about me according to Jeremy. He wanted me to know that he didn't agree with what was being said and that he would be voting for me. I thanked him and he went on his way.

The 'debate' between me and Alicia, oh and Melvin was held that Thursday. It was obvious that nobody was paying Melvin any attention with me and Alicia on the scene. I was surprised though when she didn't once mention me being gay. Nonetheless she was very superficial in her speech and I was worried about what the students would do after her speech. I chose to stick to my guns though and didn't cave into sensationalism. By the end I was clueless as to whether I would win or not. The voting was done afterwards.

On Friday I was at my locker and Liberty walked up. She had just returned to school the previous day from being sick. I looked at Christian's locker and was reminded of my promise to him. I shored up my resolve and got ready to dive in to something that I was having second thoughts that I wanted to be in.

"Hey Trey," she said as she stopped in front of me.

"You sure you're okay? You still look a little under the weather," I said which was true, but if she felt good enough to come to school and wasn't contagious, then all the better.

"Yeah I'm okay, although I'd rather be anywhere than at home being smothered my my mother," she said rolling her eyes at her mother which made me laugh. Her mother, like most others, tended to smother her kids when one was sick.

"It's their job. Where do you think the word comes from anyway? You never heard of anyone being sfathered have you?" I asked and she chuckled a bit.

"No I don't believe I've ever heard of that," she said looking amused.

"How about going out on a date with Christian," I blurted then I face-palmed at my lack of tact. She just stared for a minute with her mouth slightly open. She finally recovered and frowned at me.

"You let yourself get dragged into this? How do you even know him anyway"? she asked not looking friendly anymore.

"His locker is right there," I said pointing to the locker to the right of mine.

"Damn, really? That's just what I need right now," she said looking around anxiously.

"Why? What's wrong with going out with him?" I asked trying to keep a straight face with her looking around trying to see if she saw Christian.

"Not that I have to explain it to you, but I'm not dating right now, which I told him and now he's coming to you to convince me to go out with him," she said and I saw in her that she was still spooked, so to speak, after dealing with Drake.

"Christian isn't Drake, Liberty. Drake wasn't even all that bad if the topics of gays and me didn't come up. Just give him a chance," I said and she thought for a few seconds before replying.

"You're defending Drake, I'm shocked, and how do you know he's not like Drake?" she asked and truth be told, I didn't know but I was willing to trust him, at last for now. I told her so and she said she'd think about it. There was then an announcement over the PA that the results were in and that the candidates were to report to the media room which I did.

"Trey, I'm glad you could make it," Mr. Renner said with a more friendly smile than I had seen on his face the last time I had seen him.

"Wouldn't miss it for the world," I said jovially.

"Can we please get on with this," Alicia said impatiently.

"Yes Ms. Lake," Mr. Renner said then motioned for us to stand in front of the camera and for Ralph Potter, the media room student director to turn on the camera. "Now ladies and gentleman, I bring you the results of the Student Council elections," he said then proceeded to list who had won each position, with Jeremy surprising me by winning treasurer. I didn't even know he was in the elections. "Now for the results of Student Council President, our new president is... Trey Healey," he said and I truly didn't expect it.

"Are you kidding me? I demand a recount!" Alicia screeched.

"I assure you Ms. Lake that I'm not joking, and there will not be a recount," he said sternly before turning back to the camera. "Now I know this is unorthodox, but I'm going to do something different and appoint your vice president Mr. Healey," he said looking at me.

"Just great," Alicia muttered.

"You are?" I asked still shocked but happy about my win.

"Yes I will. I appoint... Alicia Lake to be your vice president," he said and I was gonna be sick.

"What?" we both shouted together, then glared at each other.

"Yes you heard it. I now introduce your new President and Vice-President, Trey Healey and Alicia Lake. Thank you students for listening, Vice Principal Renner, signing off," he said in a corny voice that made me want to hit him.

He smiled and told us to cheer up and that before we knew it, we'd be the best of friends. I knew then that this dude had to be on that chronic. He was definitely smoking some good shit if he thought that I would ever be friends with that woman. I glared at her and she glared at me and I knew then that this was the beginning of a hellish year. The 'honeymoon' was definitely over.

To be continued....
