The Boy With the Emerald Eyes
Chapter 11
Caleb
The second weekend that Dakota and I spent together came after we started school again. Dakota and I had all of our classes with the exception of the last one, since Dakota had to meet with a couple of education specialists who helped him with certain parts of school assignments on which he needed extra help that the regular teachers didn't have time during class to give him. The specialists with whom he worked seemed really nice, and he seemed to enjoy working with them.
That Friday which closed our first week of school was dark and rainy, and after making sure that Dakota and I had on our rain coats, we left the school to go back to his house, as I'd be spending the weekend there with him. We walked along talking, and enjoying the fact that neither of us had any homework for that weekend.
"It'll be nice to spend the weekend with you without having to worry about any homework assignments," Dakota said as we came in to the house after he unlocked the front door.
"I agree," I answered. "Do you know what you wanted to do for this weekend?"
"I'm not sure yet," Dakota replied. "I'm sure we'll figure out something."
"Yeah, I'm sure we will," I responded.
Once we got in Dakota's room after putting our bags down in the kitchen, I unpacked my over-night bag, and Dakota transferred from his wheelchair, and on to the bed. I was putting my deodorant and cologne on the bedside table, and then I checked to make sure that all the clothes I needed were in my bag. As I closed the bag, and set it next to the bedside table, Dakota motioned for me to sit down beside him, and he looked like he had been waiting for that for ages.
"Now I'm all yours," I said sitting down and taking him in my arms.
"I'm glad to hear that," he said as he rested his head on my chest as I held him.
After a moment, he wrapped his arms around me, and we looked in to one another's eyes. Neither of us said a word for a long moment, then I stroked his hair as we continued looking deeply in to one another's eyes.
"I love spending time like this with you," Dakota said softly as he caressed my cheek.
"I love it as well," I replied. "I feel really happy when we're together, and I feel like I'm in Heaven every time we get to share the day with one another."
"I feel the same way," Dakota answered.
Finally, we separated, and after Dakota moved so that he could lay down on the bed, I lay down beside him and we just held one another close. It was nice to just lay there listening to the falling rain as Dakota lay draped across me and with his head on my chest. I never wanted that moment to end!

Devin and I finished our food and I sat down on the edge of his bed. He joined me, and put an arm around me. It had been a week since I had almost taken my own life, and though I was still feeling depressed as Hell, I felt like if I had Devin, Caleb and Dakota there with me, but especially Devin, then I'd be alright. I talked to my dad the night before, and he seemed a little more caring, and even talked about possibly being able to come home the next weekend. I hoped that he was serious about that, but for now I was taking comfort in being beside Devin with his arm around me.

The trucks sat lined up all in a perfect row as the rain fell that Friday afternoon. Afternoon though was turning in to evening, and another truck joined the row. The door opened, and a large slightly heavy-set man got out, then went in to the office. It was Tyler Daniels's father Richard. He walked to where his bosses office was, and looked to see if he was in, but the lights were out, and he figured that the door would be locked, and it was when he checked it.
After he went to his own office, he checked his e-mail, then went to leave the office, then he heard the door to the building open. He figured that one of the other drivers forgot something, then there was a knock on the door jam.
"Richard?" a voice said from the doorway.
Richard turned to see one of the new drivers Kyle standing there. Kyle had been working there for about three days, and he and Richard had been getting along rather well.
"Kyle," Richard said as they shook hands. "I thought you'd be on the road right now."
"I had planned to be on the road, but I got a call from my kid's school this week," Kyle explained. "You remember me telling you about my son Brandon?"
"Yeah," Richard replied.
Kyle's son Brandon was 14, and had been having problems for the last several months with controlling his anger, and for that week during school he had gotten in to several fights two of which he had started. Kyle had been contacted by the school, and they told him that he should probably come home if he could to sit down with them to deal with Brandon's behavioral issues.
"Why do you think he's acting out like he is?" Richard asked once Kyle told him about the call he got that day from the school.
"I'm not sure, but I know that things have been hard for him since we moved from where we had been living about six months ago when his anger had started," Kyle responded. "He never said anything when I asked him, except for that he wasn't happy that he had to leave his friends, and I know he was close with his friend Ryan. I knew that they were best friends, but I didn't think that he would take it this hard, but I'm starting to wonder if there night be something more going on."
"What do you mean?" Richard asked.
"There were a couple of times when Ryan would be over at our house back when we lived in our old place before moving here, and a few times that Ryan and Brandon would be in Brandon's room, I'd walk by, and sometimes I'd see them with their arms around one another's shoulders," Kyle explained. "I didn't think anything of it, but then one time when I came home from the store, I knocked on Brandon's closed bedroom door, and I heard them in there. I didn't hear much of what they were saying, but it sounded like I was almost close to catching them in a situation that they wouldn't have wanted to be caught in the middle of."
"What do you think it was?" Richard asked.
"I wasn't sure at first," Kyle answered. "When Brandon opened the door though, his face was flushed, and Ryan was sitting on the edge of the bed leaned forward with his legs held tightly together. I went on with what I needed Brandon to do, and acted as if I hadn't noticed anything, then the next weekend when they were in Brandon's room and I knocked to have Brandon come and take out the trash, it took them a while once again for Brandon to come and open the door. I asked what had taken them so long to answer the door, and Brandon just said something about they had been busy with a video game, but none of the gaming equipment he had was turned on. I told him he needed to take out the trash, and then when I looked over at Ryan, he was on his stomach on the bed, and he looked nervous as Hell.
Then when Ryan went home that day, I noticed that Brandon seemed distracted the rest of that day. Then when I tried to ask him a couple of times over the next few weeks about girls he liked, he at first got nervous, and said that he wasn't interested in any girls in particular yet, then the last time I asked about him liking any girls, I could see that this pissed him off, but he didn't lose his temper, but his face got red like it does when he gets pissed about something. He told me that he still wasn't interested in dating any girls yet, and then he asked if I had thought about what we would do for lunch in that tone of voice a person uses when they're making it clear that they want to change the subject, and won't take any arguments about it."
"Yeah," Richard said. "My son Tyler has been acting the same way when I've tried to ask him about if he was starting to get interested in dating girls. He hasn't said much about it except for that he isn't ready for that, but the last time I asked him about it, he changed the subject, and I knew that though he was talking normally, deep down he was pissed at me for going there again. I'm actually feeling bad since he and I talked this past weekend. We basically got in to an argument, and I said several things to him, that I wished I hadn't. He told me he was going through something, and I basically blew him off. As I think of it, he hasn't seemed like he's been doing very well for a long time, and I think he's not been happy with me for a while now."
"What do you mean?" Kyle asked.
"I'll admit that I'm not exactly the most progressive guy around," Richard began. "I mean, I don't care how people live their lives as long as they're not hurting anyone, but I don't go out of my way to stand along-side women at Planned Parent Hood clinics while they get abortions, and I'm not exactly jumping to march along-side guys at the local Gay Pride marches or anything like that. I've been known to tell a few Gay Jokes from time to time, and as I think about it more and more, I have noticed lately that while Tyler never laughed much, he certainly hasn't been responding much when I'd tell them recently, and I noticed the last time I told a gay Joke, he changed the subject, and for the rest of our time sitting at the restaurant we were at finishing lunch, he wouldn't look at me, and when I did get a look at his face as we walked out of the restaurant, he looked really sad, but I didn't think anything of it."
"Yeah, it's basically the same with Brandon when I've made a couple of comments about guys liking guys," Kyle responded.
"How would that sit with you?" Richard asked. "I mean if Brandon told you he was gay? Would you be alright with that?"
"I've thought about it a couple of times," Kyle said. "I don't know very many gay people, and even though I wasn't brought up to believe that being gay is okay, I guess I'd try to understand where Brandon is coming from. I'd still love him, but I'm not sure if I could be okay with him dating a guy. I think I'd have to give it a little more thought."
"I wasn't brought up to be accepting of gays either," Richard responded. "I mean, I wouldn't disown Tyler if he told me he liked guys, but when I've seen guys walking down the street holding hands, it didn't make me want to throw up, but it didn't exactly look right. I don't know though. I do know that I want my son to be alright."
"Yeah," Kyle agreed. "I want Brandon to be alright as well. Anyway, I have to be going now. I hope your weekend goes well."
"Thanks," Richard said. "I hope you have a good weekend too, and I hope you get everything figured out where Brandon is concerned."
"Thanks," and I hope you and Tyler can talk and get things figured out as well," Kyle replied, then left to go back home.
"As Richard sat there thinking, he thought about while he didn't spank Tyler when he punished him, there had been one time a couple of months ago when after Tyler got home from school with a report card that showed a couple of failing grades on it, he yelled at Tyler that he was getting tired of how Tyler was fucking around in his classes and that he needed to smarten up. Tyler had shot back that if he had been home with him more, and helping him more with things, then maybe he wouldn't be fucking up in school like he was. Before he realized what he was doing, Richard had back-handed his son hard across the face. Tyler ran to his room crying, and Richard had yelled for him to come back, and that they weren't finished talking. Tyler did no such thing, and then after a moment, Richard stood there playing that exchange back in his mind. He couldn't believe that he had hit his own son!
As he thought about that incident, Richard looked down at his hand that had slapped Tyler, and he knew that things had to change. Picking up the phone, Richard waited for his boss to pick up.
"Sean," Richard began once he had him on the line,. "I need to go home, and I will need the next several days off. Change that, I'll need a three-week vacation. I saved up most of my Sick Days, as well as collected a lot of Personal Time."
"Yeah, you definitely have enough," Sean agreed. "Is everything alright?"
"I don't know," Richard replied. "My son is having some problems, and I haven't been around much, so I need to get home to help him with everything that's going on."
"I hope he'll be alright," Sean answered.
"Thanks," Richard said. "So do I."
Once approved, Sean and Richard said goodbye, then after he hung up Richard made sure that his work laptop was shut down, and in his bag, then he locked up his office then left to go back home and back to his son.

Saturday of mine and Dakota's second weekend together was bright and sunny as we walked along. We were going to eat at one of the restaurants in the mall, then go to see what new albums were in the Metal Section of the record store that was in the mall. As we walked along, I was definitely looking forward to getting something to eat, and I knew that Dakota was hungry as well. Finally, we reached the mall, and once seated we ordered.
"I've been having a really good time with you this weekend," Dakota said as we waited for our food.
"Me too," I answered.
"It was nice lying in your arms again last night like last weekend," Dakota went on.
"yeah, and it felt good holding you in my arms as we lay in bed together," I replied.
"That was the best!" Dakota agreed.
I thought back over the night before when we said goodnight to Tanner and Sarah, then after we got in to bed once our shower was finished, I took Dakota in my arms, and once the lamp beside me was turned off, I held my friend in my arms as we talked.
"You're really sweet," Dakota said looking up at me.
"So are you," I answered.
"I hope we'll always be close like this," he went on.
"I want us to always be close like we are now," I replied.
"What about when you go off to college in a couple of years?" Dakota asked looking in to my eyes. "I hope you won't forget about me."
"I couldn't ever forget about you," I began. "Even when I go off to college here in a few years, I'll always be here for you, and I have plans to support you while you go to college for whatever you want to do as well. I'm sure that everyone around you will help you with getting through college."
"Some of the people my dad has talked to don't think I'd do very well with college," Dakota said.
"Fuck them," I said. "I believe in you, and I'm behind you all the way."
"Thanks," Dakota said. "That really means a lot."
"You're welcome," I answered. "Anyway, to get to know you a little more, cookies or cake? I mean as your favorite dessert."
"Cookies," Dakota answered smiling.
"Dog or Cat?" I went on.
"Dogs, definitely," Dakota answered.
"Good choice," I answered. "for music, Metal or Trap?"
"Metal all the way!" Dakota answered.
"Hell yeah!" I agreed. "Now for TV shows, X Files or Twilight Zone?"
"X Files," Dakota said. "Though I do enjoy the Twilight Zone from time to time as well."
"Me too," I answered.
"Now I want to try some questions for you," Dakota said. "For Metal, this has to do with Night Wish. You probably know what I'm going to ask, but here goes. Floor, Tarja or Annette?"
I smiled, then answered.
"I love all three of them," I said.
"I figured you'd say that," Dakota answered. "Black Metal or Symphonic Metal?"
"Symphonic Metal," I said. "Definitely enjoy Black Metal too though."
"Same with me," Dakota replied. "Cold or warm weather?"
"Cold," I answered.
"Me too," he said. "Rainy or sunny weather?"
"Rainy weather," I replied.
"I love that as well," Dakota responded. "Now for sports, Golf or Football?"
"I'm not really in to sports," I said. "I enjoy running and stuff like that, but that's basically to stay in shape."
"Glad to hear that," Dakota replied smiling at me. "I've never been in to sports either."
"Any other questions?" I asked.
"Not right now," he said.
"Yeah, I don't have any other questions right now either," I answered.
I was starting to feel more tired, and I saw Dakota shift so that he was closer to me, then he rested his head on my chest.
"I'm starting to feel like I want to get to sleep now," he said.
"Me too," I replied.
We said good night, then were asleep shortly after.
As I sat there across from Dakota, I saw him watching me.
"You were thinking more about our night together last night weren't you?"
"Yeah I was," I replied. "It was nice."
"It definitely was," he agreed.
After we ate our lunch, we went to where the elevator was, so we could go up to the second floor where the record store was. There was the one Dakota had been to where he picked up the Toque Profundo album he got when we first met, but we decided to check out the record store which was in the mall to see what collection of music they had. Once the elevator arrived, we got on, and I turned so that I was behind Dakota's wheelchair, and the doors closed.
"Finally," I said. "I figured that I'd grow old and get impotent by the time this Bitch arrived."
Dakota turned to look at me, and laughed. He had a surprised look on his face, and I figured that he would. I hadn't really made many references to stuff like that in the couple of weeks we've known one another, and I hoped that I hadn't offended him.
"Wow Caleb," he said laughing. "I wasn't expecting you to say something like that?"
"What, you mean about losing my ability to get hard?" I asked. "I can be full of surprises sometimes. I guess I just had to push the envelope a little."
I pressed the button for the second floor, and waited. The elevator made a sound like it was getting ready to take off, then nothing.
"It must be really slow today," Dakota said looking at the closed doors.
"I guess," I said pushing the button again.
The elevator didn't move, and I pressed the Open Button, and nothing. I pressed it again. Still nothing.
"Are you fucking kidding me?" I asked starting to get a little nervous.
"It isn't stuck is it?" Dakota asked looking back at me.
"I don't know," I said.
I pressed the button for the second floor again, then for the ground floor, but still nothing happened. I tried the Open Button again, and it didn't do anything.
"I think we're stuck here," I said looking at the control panel.
Dakota looked back at me, and I saw that he was getting scared.
"What are we going to do Caleb!" he said as he continued looking back at me, then he turned to face the doors again.
"It's going to be alright," I said putting a hand on his shoulder. "I'm going to press the Emergency Button that's on the lower left-hand side of the control panel, and hopefully that'll get us some help."
"Okay," Dakota said starting to calm down a little.
I pressed the button, and waited.
"Emergency Operator," a man's voice said. "Someone pressed the button. Are you alright?"
"I hope you can hear me," I said. "My friend and I just got on the elevator to go up to the second floor, and the button didn't work. I think we're stuck here, as the Open Button won't open the doors either."
"Okay, thanks for letting me know," the voice answered. "What's your name?"
"I'm Caleb," I replied. "My friend is Dakota."
"Okay, it's nice to meet both of you," the operator said. "I'm going to try to open the elevator from my end."
"Okay," I answered.
"It's not working," the operator said. "I'll have to make a couple of calls, but I'll be updating you as to how things are going."
"Thank you," Dakota said.
"We'll be waiting for you to give us any news as you get it," I answered.
"Okay, and I'm Bryan by the way," the operator replied.
"Nice to meet you," I answered.
"Yeah, it's nice to meet you," Dakota added,. "Thanks for helping us."
"Definitely," I said. "We really appreciate your help."
"You're both welcome," Bryan replied, then excused himself to get help.
I called my parents as Dakota called Tanner, and we both let them know what was going on. They both made sure that we were alright, and we told them that we would let them know how things were going from time to time, and we also told them that we would let them know once we were out of the elevator. They were glad to hear that, and we both ended our calls.
I motioned for Dakota to move his chair to the back wall of the elevator, and after helping him out of it I helped him sit down on the floor, and I sat down beside him.
"I know that we don't have much to keep us occupied right now," I began. "I can pull up some music on my phone if you would like at some point."
"That would be nice," Dakota said. "Anyway, if I'm going to be stuck on an elevator, I can't think of anyone I'd rather be on it with than you. I definitely feel calm now, and I think we're going to be alright."
"We definitely are," I said. "I wouldn't want to be stuck on an elevator with anyone but you either."
We had our arms around one another at this point, and Dakota was looking in to my eyes.
"This definitely gives us more time to be alone with each other," Dakota went on.
"I agree," I responded.
"I did notice something," Dakota said. "I know we've known one another for just a few weeks, but you haven't asked me about why I'm the way I am."
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"I mean about my having to be in a wheelchair and all of the issues I have," Dakota replied.
"I figured I'd ask you at some point," I began. "But I wanted you to have a chance to bring it up whenever you felt comfortable to do so. Besides, I wanted to get to know you really well, and to prove to you that I don't see just your issues you have. I see you as the person you are, and I like you for you."
"Thanks Caleb," Dakota said as he looked deeper in to my eyes. "That really means a lot, and that's really sweet of you. I like you how you are too, and it really means a lot that you didn't just dismiss me because of how I am. I wanted to tell you how it happened, and I do have to say that it can be hard to talk about it. Therapy has helped, but this is the first time I'll talk about it with someone who isn't my dad, Sarah or my counselor."
"I'll be here to listen," I said. "I can understand you being nervous about telling me, and I won't judge you for anything you tell me."
He told me the whole story, and after he finished I felt really sad for him. I also felt rage! Where the fuck had his family been in all this. I know he said that they didn't give a shit, but still! To know that he was going through all of that alone, and to know that he was having to face discovering he was gay all alone, knowing both of those things bothered me, and I was wiping tears away that were falling. I was close to crying as he finished his story, but thinking of him all alone all through that time in his life caused my tears to fall at that point.
I then thought of Adam and his treatment of Dakota, and throughout his story, Dakota left nothing out. I couldn't believe that Adam and that shit friend of his Eric or whatever the fuck his name was practically poisoned him by giving him little choice but to eat the shell fish, and just so they could see what it did to him! I wanted to fucking kill both of them, but I knew I definitely wanted to destroy Adam! I knew from how my parents brought me up that bad actions people do don't occur in a vacuum, but at that moment I didn't think I could hear any reason for what Adam did to Dakota that would make any of it make sense!
I wiped away the last of my tears, and just held my friend. He wasn't crying, but he was shaking, and as I held him his shaking slowly subsided. We sat like that for a long moment, then Dakota motioned for me to let him go. I did, and he sat there for a moment, then put his arms around me again.
"I'm sorry you had to go through all of that," I said. "Where the fuck were your parents and other people in your family! I know you said that they were hardly there for you, but still. It's fucking Bullshit how they left you alone like that, and basically leaving the door open for all that shit to happen!"
"It was a horrible time," Dakota agreed. "I still sometimes can't think why I was even attracted to Adam. I know that deep down though I was hoping that he and I could be more than friends, because of how desperate I was for someone to love me. Also, I wished I would have listened to Beth when she tried to warn me about telling Adam how I felt about him."
"You were in a situation that no one your age should have to have been in," I said. "I put all of this on your family, Adam, and everyone else who failed you. I do wish that you and Beth could have stayed in contact though. She sounds like she was a really good friend."
"She really was," Dakota replied. "I really do miss her."
"I can imagine that you do," I said. "I'll always be here for you as I said, and I give you my word on that."
"I trust you completely Caleb," Dakota said as we held one another and with our faces inches from one another's.
"I'm glad to hear that, and I trust you as well Dakota," I responded.
"I'm glad," Dakota answered.
"Also, I think you're really cute," I went on. "I haven't really believed in love at first sight or anything like that, but I definitely felt an attraction for you right when we met. I know I definitely wanted to get to know you more, then over the next few days I was noticing how deeply attracted I was becoming to you."
"That's really sweet," Dakota said blushing. "I needed to know that I could trust you first, but I definitely felt like you'd be a really good person to get to know. Then as the next couple of days went by, I definitely started feeling attracted to you as well Caleb."
"I'm glad to hear you say that," I said.
We sat there for a moment, then I checked to see if Dakota wanted me to put on some music. He said he did, so I got out my phone. I opened a random play list, and the song Everything I Do I Do It for You by Bryan Adams came on. We sat there for a moment, then I rested the phone on the arm rest of Dakota's wheelchair.
"Would you like to dance?" I asked feeling a bit nervous suddenly. "I mean, I'd help support you, and also I've never danced with a boy yet."
"I'd love to Caleb," Dakota replied.
I helped him up, and he wrapped his arms around my torso. I put my arms around him, and we danced slowly as Dakota looked in to my eyes, and then rested his head against my shoulder. It was a magical time, and I knew I'd never forget it! I knew that in that moment I was holding the boy I loved, and I didn't ever want anyone else!
Nothing else existed in that moment, but Dakota and I! Yeah, it was just him and I on that elevator at that moment, but it still felt like it was only us in all of the world, and I felt more happy than I could have said in words!
After the song ended, we sat back down, and Dakota hugged me tightly.
"Thank you for that," he said close to my ear.
"You're welcome," I answered.
He then moved his head back so he could look at me.
"I know you told me that you hadn't ever danced with a boy before," Dakota said. "I'm guessing that you haven't dated boys yet?"
"You're right," I said. "I haven't dated boys, danced with them nor have I had sex yet. I've always wanted to wait until I knew that I would be with the right guy."
"Well, I've never done any of those things with boys either for reasons that I'm sure are obvious given everything that I told you a little while ago," Dakota said.
"Yeah," I agreed. "I figured that you wouldn't have time to really get to know other guys with all that was going on in your life at that time."
"Yeah, you're right about that," Dakota agreed.
"I know I said a few minutes ago that I think you're really cute," I went on. "I think you are really cute as I said, but I also think all of your body is hansom, and you look really amazing naked the several times you've been naked around me."
"I feel the same way about you too Caleb," Dakota replied as we moved our faces closer to one another,. "I know you accidently forgot your towel that first time I stayed the night with you, but I wouldn't have been offended if you had been naked around me on purpose. It was hard for me to not ask you to come over to where I was sitting on the bed so I could feel what you have between your legs, as well as to feel all of your body."
"You can feel me anytime you want," I said as I caressed his cheek.
"You can do the same with me as well," Dakota answered.
"That sounds good," I said.
"Things really are feeling different between you and I now," Dakota said softly. "Are you noticing that as well?"
"Yeah, definitely," I answered.
As we sat there, my lips came closer to Dakota's, and I put a hand on the back of his head, and he tightened his grip around me as my lips softly pressed against his. He kissed back, and our kiss slowly opened like a flower, and while I had always enjoyed imagining what my first kiss would be like, it didn't compare to what I was feeling now that I was experiencing my first kiss with a boy, and a boy who was my best friend! It was like nothing I had ever felt before!
Soon we broke the kiss, and I definitely needed to come up for air! My face was flushed, and my balls were throbbing, as well as my cock being so hard that it almost hurt! I was more turned on than I had ever felt before!
"Caleb!" Dakota exclaimed as he rested his forehead against mine. "That felt so good! That really was amazing! Thank you for that!"
"You're welcome," I answered. "I really enjoyed it as well, and you're really good at kissing!"
"So are you," Dakota replied.
We kissed again, but slower this time, and then we sat there resting our heads on one another's shoulders as we held one another.
After a moment, Dakota lifted his head from my shoulder, then looked behind him to where my phone was still playing.
"I don't mean to sound offensive," he began. "But what the Hell is that?"
I laughed, then took the phone, and listened for a moment then looked at the screen.
"I must have forgotten to go directly in to my Music App, and opened a play list in the Cloud instead," I answered. "Yeah exactly, what the Hell is this?"
I looked at the screen, and it read Remember Your Name with the artist listed as Mario Judah.
"I just kept hearing it repeat something over and over again," Dakota said. "Otherwise I probably wouldn't have noticed it."
"Yeah, I see what you mean," I said. "I'll start it over to see what it's like."
I did so, and we listened.
It started off with a guy asking where the fuck is Mario Judah. I gave an annoyed snort of laughter, and Dakota smirked.
"You know you're in for an interesting song when it starts out like that, and especially when they say their name or the guy's name at the beginning of the song," Dakota said.
"Yeah I know," I said smiling. "It's like Two Chains yelling his and all 1000 of his producers and guest performers names at the beginning of his songs."
We laughed, and continued listening.
"Okay, good to know that you're going to be the one who takes it," Dakota said.
"Yeah, he only said that in the course like 50 fucking times already," I added. "I mean, that is if this is the course."
It got to the first verse, and we both laughed.
"Glad to know that he thinks everything is Bullshit," I said.
"You mean like this song?" Dakota said as we both laughed.
We continued listening, then I made it go back a couple of seconds when it got to the second verse.
"Yuck!" I said. "I wasn't sure I heard that the first time, but He really did use the word "Retard" in that second verse."
"Asshole," Dakota replied. "Glad this Prick thinks it's still okay to use a word like that."
"Yeah I know," I answered.
"I think I gave this song enough of a chance," Dakota went on.
It was back to the course, and I tapped the screen to stop Play-Back.
"Yeah, I agree," I responded.
"Talk about a really piece of shit song," Dakota said.
"Yeah, especially with the fact that it sounds like if James Hetfield of Metallica decided to do a slightly Rock-oriented song mixed with Trap and Electronica," I said.
Dakota laughed, and then we moved on to one of the play lists I had stored directly on my phone's memory.
"That's a lot better," Dakota said resting his head on my shoulder as we hugged.
"It definitely is," I agreed.
Just then a beeping sound came from the speaker under the control panel of the elevator.
"It's Bryan," the speaker announced. "Are you guys alright? I have a couple of guys coming to fix the problem. They'll have to over-ride the system, and they'll be here in about five minutes."
"We're fine," Dakota and I said in unison.
"Okay, I just wanted to give you an update," Bryan replied. "I'll be back in a moment to let you know when the guys are here."
"Sounds good," I said.
"Thanks," Dakota added.
"You're welcome," Bryan answered.
We sat there, and our arms were around one another, then we shared a few long and deep kisses. I almost didn't want anyone to come, as I was really enjoying being with Dakota with us holding one another and kissing like we were doing! I also was excited about the fact that we had both not only shared our first kiss with one another, but that we had come out to one another about our feelings for each other! It was turning out to be the best day of my life!
Bryan and the two guys he mentioned got us out a few minutes after Bryan checked in on us, and as they came to the doors to get them open, I helped Dakota back in to his wheelchair, and I got behind him, and then the doors were opening.
"Are you guys alright?" the guy I assumed was Bryan asked. "I'm Bryan."
"I figured that it was you," I said shaking his hand. "I figured it was you since your voice sounds like the one coming from the speaker a moment ago."
"It's nice to meet the both of you in person," Bryan said, then helped us out of the elevator.
"We're doing good," I said.
"It wasn't too much of an ordeal," Dakota agreed.
"I'm glad you guys are alright," Bryan said. "I really am sorry that this happened, and I thought the elevator was working good.. It was when we inspected it a couple of days ago. There is another elevator the two of you can use, and I'll take you to it."
"Thanks," I said.
"We really appreciate that," Dakota added.
"No need to apologize," I went on. "We really were fine while we waited for you to get us out."
"Yeah, we kept one another entertained," Dakota said.
"Good," Bryan said. "I'm glad you guys were there for one another while we worked on getting you out."
"So are we," I agreed.
Author's Notes
I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter. I wanted to have Caleb and Dakota come out to one another about their feelings, but have it be in a situation that I hadn't done in a story before, so I hope all of you liked it. Also, Tyler and his father will be talking things out in the next chapter so keep a look out for that. I'll also be doing more with things between Dakota and Caleb, so I hope all of you enjoy that as well.
All that being said, I hope you are all staying safe, enjoying the weekend, and I'll see all of you in Chapter 12.
