Sorry about the delay.

Previously:

The song started to play. Tyler listened to the words very closely. The song had sounded familiar. Every word struck him. When it was over, he finally realized what it was. It was the song that Deanna was listening to. It must also be the same song that Darryl had been listening to when he came out of the shower to find Darryl crying.

Darryl had woken up by the song too. He was forced to listen to it too. He didn't want Tyler to know that he was awake. The words pierced his heart and soul. His heart was clouded with fear now. He was able to cause this pain to Deanna. Was he capable to do it to Tyler too? Those words began to repeat themselves in his mind again.

It's best to run and hide away So nobody can see the beast you've made It may seem wrong to leave them high and dry But emotions run high when you're by their side So stop it there and decide It's time to leave

He didn't know what to do anymore. He thought his life would be complete with Tyler, but what if he was wrong? He might destroy Tyler. It would be better to end it before it started, but could he bring himself up to it.

Chapter 15: First Time For Everything

Tears escaped the man's solemn eyes. Why do people play such depressing songs? He looked at his boyfriend. He was sleeping peacefully. He didn't want to lose him. He couldn't live a second without him, or could he? He wiped the idea from his mind. It was time to live in the moment. He embraced Darryl and fell asleep.

When Tyler's arms wrapped around Darryl's body, his heart ripped. He couldn't do it anymore. He couldn't say goodbye to him. If he wasn't truly in love, he would have to force himself, but would that be fair for either of them?

Justin had been lying in bed for a few hours. He couldn't sleep. He had his moment to destroy Darryl or potentially destroy him, but he couldn't. He had to be sympathetic. Were his actions today causing the lack of sleep, or was it something else? The last couple of nights he couldn't fall asleep. He had been having dreams of his parents fighting. It was the same thing over and over, but at that time he didn't understand the extent of it until a few years ago when his father came clean. He couldn't believe his ears, but he would have to accept them. He had come to terms with it, but vowed revenge on the person and the person's family that tore his family apart.

The alarm clock went off at 6 AM. JC was annoyed by the buzz.

"Who the hell set the alarm so early?" {JC}

"Me. You have a problem?" {Kyle}

"With you never." {JC}

"Get your cheesy smile off the bed and go take a shower." {Kyle}

"Why? I don't have to be in the studio until 2." {JC}

"So you drag me up at the crack of dawn, but you won't let me." {Kyle}

"Pretty much." {JC}

"You are too much. Anyways, we are going to meet Lance, Melissa, Darryl, and Tyler for breakfast." {Kyle}

"This early?" {JC}

"Yeppers." {Kyle}

"You've got to stop using Darryl's vocabulary. Fine fine. Why don't you go take a shower and wake me up when you are done." {JC}

"That kind of defeats the purpose of me waking you up so early." {Kyle}

"And that would be?" {JC}

"I thought maybe we could take a shower together." {Kyle}

"Extra time?" {JC}

"More than you think." {Kyle}

"Now that you have put it that way, what the hell is stopping me now?" {JC}

"How about you are still in that bed." {Kyle}

"You got a point there. Let's go." {JC}

Melissa and Lance groggily woke up.

"Hey honey." {Lance}

"It's nice to wake up, and you being the first person that I see." {Melissa}

"Same here. What time is this breakfast?" {Lance}

"It's at 9." {Melissa}

"Where?" {Lance}

"IHOP." {Melissa}

"IHOP?" {Lance}

"It is some place that Darryl likes. Tyler thought this would cheer him up." {Melissa}

"I don't think breakfast will do." {Lance}

"I know, but I guess one step at a time." {Melissa}

"So what do you want to do after breakfast? We don't have to be at the studio until 2." {Lance}

"How about shopping? I haven't done that in a long time. It would be nice to use somebody else's credit card." {Melissa}

"Should I file for bankruptcy now?" {Lance}

"Yeah yeah. C'mon we don't want to be late." {Melissa}

"We've got plenty of time." {Lance}

"Are you trying to be a renegade? I thought you were the early one of the group." {Melissa}

"When it doesn't involve N Sync, then I take my sweet time." {Lance}

"Not this time, pretty boy." {Melissa}

"Yes, mommy." {Lance}

"That's just nasty. I'm not into incest." {Melissa}

"Darn." {Lance}

"You are messed up, but I still love you." {Melissa}

"C'mon let's go take that shower." {Lance}

Tyler woke up at exactly 7 o' clock. He knew it would take him awhile to wake up sleeping beauty. He lightly shook his boyfriend, but he received no response. He began to shake him harder, but again Darryl didn't flinch or respond. Tyler began to lay kisses all over Darryl's face. Darryl began to smile, but he tried to cover the smile from Tyler. Tyler noticed his awakened prince, but had to go in for the kill. He kissed his boyfriend passionately on the lips.

"Mmmmmm…Is this how I am going to be waken up every morning?" {Darryl}

"Maybe. It depends on how you play your cards." {Tyler}

"Then I have a royal flush." {Darryl}

"Well get up. We are going to eat breakfast with the others." {Tyler}

"Can't I stay in bed with you?" {Darryl}

"I would love to do that, but I made plans for us to have breakfast with the others." {Tyler}

"Fine, but I don't think you should have made plans without asking me first." {Darryl}

"How could I? It took us forever to calm you down." {Tyler}

"Well I'm sorry that I was a inconvenience. Next time I break up with somebody; I will make sure nobody has to deal with my petty crying." {Darryl}

"I didn't mean it like that. I really care about you. I'm sorry. Wait a minute…what do you mean by the next time you break up? Are you trying to imply something?" {Tyler}

"I was speaking hypothetically." (Or was I really speaking the truth.) {Darryl}

"You better be." {Tyler}

"Grrrr…now you're telling me what I should be doing. I can't talk to you right now. I am getting too angry for this trivial squabble. I am going to take a shower." {Darryl}

"At least you got your ass out of bed." {Tyler}

"What did you say?" {Darryl}

"I thought you weren't talking to me." {Tyler}

"Fine." {Darryl}

Kyle and JC arrived at IHOP. Minutes later Lance and Melissa showed up. After thirty minutes there still was no sign of Tyler or Darryl.

"I wonder where those guys are." {Kyle}

"I know. This isn't like Tyler. Are you sure it was 9?" {JC}

"I'm positive. It was Tyler's idea. I mean if I was confused on the time; Lance and Melissa wouldn't be here." {Kyle}

"I guess you're right. I wonder what is taking them so long." {JC}

"Should we eat?" {Lance}

"Always thinking about your stomach." {Melissa}

"Don't deny who I am." {Lance}

"Alright, fatty." {Melissa}

"If you are calling me fatty, you sure haven't taken a look at Nick Carter lately." {Lance}

"I prefer to stick with N Sync." {Melissa}

"And that is why I love you." {Lance}

"Me too." {JC}

The ride for Darryl and Tyler was a silent one. The tension between the two possible ex lovers was riding high. Who knew that the slightest remark would change the relation and that a single word could return it? These two had no clue about their situation. This was the first time they have been actually confronted with it.

Darryl was confused by the whole situation. He had sat in the backseat of the car, so he wouldn't have to face Tyler. He decided to pull out his journal. He hadn't written anything lately.

************************************************************************ June 23, 2002

It looks like I've done it again. I've been able to ruin the lives of two people. I'm not sure why I am even around anymore. I've just been a problem for anyone. Not once have I done anything right. I'm just really confused. I broke Deanna's heart. She told me that she no longer wanted to talk to me again. She said I was dead to her. I can't believe she said that to me. I was hoping that we could remain friends, but I guess I was wrong. I haven't heard anything from her yet. It's pretty early, but I guess she is keeping her word. What am I going to do? Then there is Tyler. I don't want to hurt his heart too, but right now I think that is what I'm doing. I want to say sorry, but how can I? I feel like he is trying to control my life, but I think I am just blowing everything out of proportion. I mean it was just a breakfast. This is just all hard for me. What is there to do? What is worse there is this song stuck in my head. I heard it two days ago, and it won't go away. I think it is right, but I don't know what to do about it. I hate my life.

A passageway across the plains of pain Shadows of depression makes it way Loneliness is my only friend Because life has taken its place here For eternity

What did I do to get here? Destroy the lives of the ones I love Forcing me into solitude Because I'm a hindrance to their lives

A new day starts with the majestic sun But here despair is the only sight Where an everlasting gaze of sanity Is a mere bliss of happiness

Darryl closed the notebook. He couldn't write anymore. He felt all alone now, but he still couldn't talk to him. He would succumb to the silence. Tyler, on the other hand, was still completely pissed off at Darryl. He had thought he was doing something nice, but only to be yelled at Darryl. Also, how could he speak of words of breaking up. Did he really mean them? He was just as confused as Darryl, but he was still angry. He knew Darryl couldn't have been speaking hypothetically but subconsciously. His worst fear may become a reality. He had put his heart on the line, and it now maybe broken. The guys arrived at the restaurant. Tyler looked at the time. It was almost 9:45.

"Dammit. We are 45 minutes late." {Tyler}

"Then we better get inside." {Darryl}

"You know we wouldn't be late if you hadn't taken so long in the bathroom." {Tyler}

"I don't even want to start. Let's just get done with this breakfast, so I can get home." (I wanted to apologize, but now I don't give a rats ass about him. He is just pissing me off now. Blaming me for making us late. I took the shower first." {Darryl}

"And where do you call home?' {Tyler}

Darryl stood there thinking. He had left Kyle's to stay with Tyler. He couldn't ask him if he could come back and stay. He also didn't want them to know that he and Tyler were fighting. Kyle would just get involved where he shouldn't be. A life that Darryl didn't want to open up to anyone.

"I can find a place. I am actually capable of doing things instead of being treated like a baby." {Darryl}

"You sure aren't acting like one." {Tyler}

"Shut up."

Tyler and Darryl gave up on their trivial bickering. They found JC and the others waiting at a table.

"Hey guys. Sorry for being late." {Darryl}

"Yeah, someone decided to take too long in the shower." {Tyler}

"It's cool. Let's eat." {Lance}

Everyone except Kyle was oblivious by the tone that Tyler used. He sounded displeased with Darryl for taking too long in the shower. He wanted to know what was going on. Tyler and Darryl sat down, but not side by side. Again nobody really paid attention by the odd actions, but in a way who would actually notice with a couple that has been together for only two days.

"Hey Darryl. How are you feeling?" {Kyle}

"Good." {Darryl}

"Why aren't you sitting next to Tyler?" {Kyle}

"No reason. Guess we ran out of chairs." {Darryl}

"We can move around. I am sure no one will mind." {Kyle}

"Nah its cool." {Darryl}

"Ok." (I can read that boy like a book. Why won't he tell me what is bothering him?) {Kyle}

(Why did Kyle have to be so freaking observant? He is going to be on my back for awhile.) {Darryl}

The guys ordered their food. They knew it would take awhile before their food would arrive, so they all made small chat with each other except for Darryl. He had secluded himself from the group and sat there staring into space. He kept asking him the same question over and over. Why was he still here? It would be just easier for him to leave, but he had to stay. The rapist said he would come back to get someone close to him, and he had to stop him. Now that Melissa was back in his life, he had another person to watch out for. He would have to stay until he was able to stop the bloody bastard. He was snapped out of his thinking by Lance.

"Are you going to eat?" {Lance}

"Oh sorry. I wasn't paying attention." {Darryl}

"I could tell. You must have been doing some in-depth thinking." {Lance}

"I guess." {Darryl}

"Anything that you want to talk about." {Lance}

"Not really. Its just thinking." {Darryl}

"Alrite. I'm here if you need me." {Lance}

"Thanks." {Darryl}

That was one thing he liked about Lance. He knew when to back off, but always left a feeling of reassurance. He should spend more time with him. Maybe they can build a friendship together.

Tyler also noticed Darryl's in-depth thinking, but he didn't want to say anything. He wondered what was going on in the head of his. Was he contemplating the idea of apologizing? He would have to because there was no way that he was going to do it.

The guys finished off their meals. Darryl and Tyler had gotten into the car and drove back to the apartment. Darryl began to pack his clothes.

"Where do you plan on going?" {Tyler}

"Like you said, I have to find myself a new home." {Darryl}

"A new home? Why don't you go back to your home?" {Tyler}

"I can't, and you know why. No need to explain everything to you again." {Darryl}

"Well, then you aren't leaving then." {Tyler}

"Yes I am. You wanted me to go, and I'm doing it." {Darryl}

"I never said that." {Tyler}

"You sure in hell implied it. Unless my mind is playing tricks, I am sure you meant that implication too." {Darryl}

"You are driving me insane. Always twisting my words." {Tyler}

"What the hell are you talking about? I never have twisted your words. For goodness sakes I've only known you for only four days. We somehow have been placed together, and I don't regret it. But don't you dare say I twist your words. We haven't had time, and I would never do that to you." {Darryl}

Tyler's patience wasn't holding strong. His anger was clouding his judgment, and he knew he would snap at any moment. If the situation were different, he would be afraid of when the moment would come and what he would do, but right now he had no care of it.

Darryl on the other hand was not becoming angry but sad. He felt someone that he loved was insulting him. What was he talking about? How could he talk about love once again? Like he said he had only known Tyler for four days. Love doesn't grow that quickly. He knew that Romeo and Juliet love was that quick, but look where it got them. They were dead. That was something Darryl didn't want to see just yet.

"I'm still leaving." {Darryl}

"NO YOU ARE NOT!" {Tyler}

"Yes I am." {Darryl}

That was the final string for Darryl. Tyler couldn't take anymore of his childish behavior. He clung his hand into a fist and swung at Darryl. He made direct contact at Darryl's eyes. As Darryl went down, both guys went into flashback. They were reliving the events that happened at the mall.

He had actually done it. The first time was an accident. It was meant for Justin. He was only trying to protect Darryl. The tables had turned. Tyler wasn't trying to protect anyone anymore. This time it was not an accident. He had done it purposely. He had meant to hit Darryl. He couldn't believe it.

"I didn't mean it. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to hit you. I'm sorry. I didn't mean it. I'm sorry." {Tyler}

"Shut the fuck up. I don't want to hear a word from you." {Darryl}

Darryl grabbed his things and ran out of the apartment. He approached the main street and called for a taxi.

"Where are you off to?" {Driver}

"Take me to the Holiday Inn." {Darryl}

"Ok."{Driver}

Darryl couldn't believe it. Tyler had actually hit him. He was actually hit once again. All his memories came crashing in. The events from the mall, his father's abuse, his whole screwed up life. He couldn't take it. He got out and paid the cabbie. He got himself a room and trudge his body and bags to his room.

Darryl unlocked the door and threw his things into the corner. He climbed into bed. He wrapped his arms around his body and curled up into a ball. The tears started pouring out. He cried himself to sleep.

What is going to happen next? That is something for the future to know and for us to find out later. Email me at d_man116@hotmail.com or visit my page at http://www.geocities.com/d_man116/.
