Chapter 16: Different
Sam ran ran to the end of the long hallway, clutching the mystic item as a shot fired over his head and she dodged out of the way, narrowly avoiding. He ran through a door and down the stairs and stopped in another hallway. As he ran forward, Bela appear in front of him.
"You're pretty fast. Good thing I scoped this place out ages ago." Bela smiled, her gun pointed directly at his heart, " Now give me the book."
"So you can sell it? I don't think so." Sam said indignantly.
"Then I guess I'll have to take it." Bela smirked, " Pity, you're such a gentleman."
"Yeah, but I'm not." I said behind her, and she turned only to meet my fist, " I'm sure that hurt."
"Chalis?" Sam said, squinting to make sure he was seeing right.
"The one and only." I smirked. I looked down to see Bela, but she was gone, " I hate it when she does that."
I walked with Sam. We walked slowly and couldn't look at each other. I hadn't seen him since before the summer. Since before they had opened the Hell gate and unleashed all that evil. Dean and I were dating, then he sold his freaking soul to...well, it doesn't matter, cause she's really dead now. It was then that I recruited Ruby. Let's face it, the boys need help and I couldn't be there. Besides, I'm good on my own. Bobby (Singer) kept me in the know about them. They were livewires. As we stepped out into the cold winter night, I found myself shivering.
"Are you alright? Want my jacket?" Sam asked.
"No." I said, looking at the book, " Can I carry it?"
"The book?" Sam said, handing it over, " So, you've met Bela?"
I hissed, " Depends on what you mean. She took things from me, I cursed her. She holds a grudge. Something about a rabbit's foot." I smiled, " You're not worried at all that I'll run away with this?"
"Should I be?" Sam asked.
"Yes." I said honestly.
Just as Sam was about to say something else, Dean pulled around in the Impala. The look on his face could only be described as...well, it can't. He and Sam seemed to be sharing the same thought and it was irritating me.
"Long time no see." I smirked.
"Chalis...nice to see ya, hop in." Dean said, awe-struck.
"Sorry, but I think I'll take the road." I said, looking around.
Suddenly there was a loud ringing from the alarms.
"We have to go." Sam said, opening the door.
I looked back and then at them again, " Right, Dean, turn the lights on the car off." I said.
"What?" he asked.
"Do it." I pressed and he did as he said. I closed my eyes and raised my hands to the lights on the street, " Obscura!" I said powerfully and the lights all the way down the block went off.
"Holy sh...What did you do?!" Dean chuckled.
"Bought us time." I said hopping in the backseat.
"When did you learn that?" Sam said, hopping in after me.
As Dean sped off, the police narrowly missed us and soon we were out of danger. As the night passed by outside the window, I couldn't help but wonder when it would come. The inevitable question that had been building the entire time.
"That was freakin fantastic!" Dean said out of nowhere.
"Where did you learn that?" Sam asked, looking back at me.
"I've been places. Seen things." I said solemnly.
"You spent Christmas alone?" Sam asked.
"Depends on what you mean." I frowned, " I was with a coven."
"So, you're a witch now?" Dean asked.
"When did this become 21 questions?" I asked.
"We just missed you." Sam blurted.
"Missed me?" I asked, " Look, Christmas was...ok. And I haven't met cannibals or old ghost ladies, but I've been trying to find things to help you, you idiot."
"Look, I know..." Dean started.
"You don't know." I said quickly, " Don't try. Look, the only reason I took your ride is because the cops were coming."
"That's a lie." Sam said.
"What?" I asked.
"If that was true, you would have just disappeared." Sam said slyly.
"Stop the car." I said angrily.
"Everybody just calm down." Dean said calmly.
"Tirar más!" I shouted, causing the car to pull over and stop. I stepped out of the car and began walking.
"Where are you going?" Sam asked, hopping out of the car after me.
"Why don't you just say a spell and be away from here?" Dean asked angrily.
"Because that takes energy." Sam said quickly.
"That's annoying. Do you have to know everything?! God, you two are complete idiots!" I shouted, " You don't care about anybody but yourself and you're so smart you're an idiot!" I shouted, " I saw John."
"What?" Sam asked, " You saw dad."
"When Dean left to find you, I tried to help and I accidentally summoned him. He wasn't the only one." I said slowly.
"Who else did you see?" Dean asked, " You left. When you found out I was dying, you left."
"You're not dying. Stop saying that!" I shouted.
"STOP SHOUTING OUT ME, okay!" Dean shouted back, " I'M DYING!"
"Here we are, back at square one. Us yelling, Sam watching. Nothing has changed. We're different, but nothing changed." I said angrily.
"Why do you need the book?" Sam asked.
"I'm sticking by what I said, I'm not letting either one of you jackasses die." I chuckled.
"So, you're going back with us?" Dean asked, obviously confused.
"Yes." I said lightly. I was apprehensive. I've been to some really dark places and coming back wasn't as easy as it looked. Dean and Sam would never understand, so for now, they can't know. I kept that in mind as we all climbed in the car and headed back to the hotel room.
Well, if you liked it please tell me so I can start work on the next one.
