Started at the Bus Stop Chapter 41

Percy returned to the desk and sat down before beginning to read what William had written. The more he read, the bigger his smile got. When he got to the end he turned and looked at William. "This is why we're so good together," he said as he waved the notebook in the air.

"Oh yeah!" William replied. "I like that we were both thinking exactly the same way. I like that you are sure our relationship is strong enough not to be damaged by helping Dan out, but that we don't want to do it for just any fucker who asks."

"And I like that you also want to try and be more of a friend to Dan. I agree that our other friends would be okay with him joining us at break times. Did you realise that some of our sentences are exactly the same, word for word? And the rest could be, because they mean exactly the same thing?" Percy asked.

"It's a bit scary. Kinda like we're already an old married couple." William laughed as he said it.

"That may not be such a bad thing. I think I would like to be married to you. Maybe in a few years' time, if we're still together, we'll be just that – Mr. and Mr. Nisbett-Chesterton."

"I like the idea of double barrelling our names, but Chesterton starts with a C, which comes first, so it should Chesterton-Nisbett."

"But we will be going against the grain as two guys getting married, so we should keep that up and put Nisbett first," Percy reasoned.

"With the number of same sex marriages already taking place I hardly think it would be going against the grain by the time we're ready to get married."

"At least we have plenty of time to discuss it further. Maybe we'll just have to pick a totally random surname for both of us to adopt. Or just use mine." Percy was smiling as he added the last bit. He got up and walked over to the bed. Crawling onto it so he was kneeling over William and supporting his upper body with his arms, he lowered his head and kissed William. "I do love you; you know?" he said. More as a statement than a question.

"And I love you, which is why I might just let you keep your surname as part of our married name," William teased.

Percy lowered the rest of his body onto William's. As he lay there, his weight restricted William's breathing a bit. "It's a good job I love you. Or you could find yourself in trouble," Percy said and brought his mouth back over William's, making it even harder for him to breath. Percy held it there for just a few seconds and then he got up and rolled onto his side beside William. "Not that I could ever be mean to you. When do you think we should let Dan know, and how do you think we should go about getting together?"

"Let's see what he suggests. Maybe he has more time at his house without anyone else being there than we do." William suggested.

"Yeah, we'll talk to him at school on Monday."

The two boys were happy they had come to the same conclusion. Each was also glad the other one didn't want to get involved with a lot of others.

They both slept well and woke the next morning ready to help each other out once more. They sucked each other off and were glad to find that their bums did not feel so tender. They were sure they could do a bit more with the dildos by themselves to help them get used to accepting something of that size while they waited for an opportunity to take each other's virginity.

After they had brushed their teeth and dressed, they went downstairs to the kitchen to make some coffee and have some cereal for breakfast. William had to leave to be home in time to go out with his father.

Percy was walking back into the lounge to see if there was anything to watch on the telly when he noticed his father coming down the stairs. Elliot looked like he had not changed since the day before. He had at least a day's growth of beard shadowing his chin and cheeks with dark bags under his eyes. He didn't look very well.

"Morning, Dad. Are you okay?" Percy asked.

"I'm fine," Elliot said and turned towards the kitchen.

"You don't look like you're fine," Percy said.

"Well, I bloody am. Now stop asking stupid questions," Elliot responded with his back already turned towards Percy.

Percy just shook his head and went up to his room. He didn't need to face his father like that again. He turned his laptop on and did some reading for his schoolwork before finishing off the homework he had been given, even the work that was only needed towards the end of the week. He saved it to his school folder where his teacher would pick it up to mark it. He began to look at one of the story sites but couldn't get into it. He was still questioning his father's actions earlier that morning and how it looked like he hadn't yet changed out of what he had worn the day before. He just couldn't make any sense out of it. Finishing off his homework had taken him almost to lunch time, and he went back downstairs to see if he could sort out some food for the family. He passed by his father's study and saw that he was in there, still looking dishevelled and ill.

"I'm going to get some lunch ready. What would you like?" Percy asked.

"I'm okay. I told you that this morning. Now go away and let me get on with my work," Elliot replied.

Percy just walked away. Clearly Elliot had not heard the question, or at least he hadn't taken it in. At his mum's study he got a surprise, because it was empty. He found his mum already in the kitchen getting the meal ready.

"Hi, Mum. What are you doing?"

"I'm just making an assortment of sandwiches for our lunch. Is William still here?" Grace asked.

"No. He had to go home early this morning to go somewhere with his dad. Thanks for letting him stay."

"It's a pleasure. All three of them are always welcome here. They could all stay over if you wanted them to."

"Thanks, Mum. Dad seems a bit worse today. Have you found out anything?"

"No. I tried talking to him earlier but got told to go away," Grace said.

"I got the same."

"Well, I'll tell him when the sandwiches are ready and he can come down to eat. I'm not waiting on him in his office. And neither are you. If he doesn't come down, he can go hungry, and if you're hungry enough to eat his share then eat them."

"I wish he'd just tell us what the matter is. Maybe we could help him."

"I know, dear. I've tried telling him that, but he's just told me to butt out and leave him to deal with it."

"What can I do to help?"

"With your father, I have no idea if anyone can do anything to help him. But for our lunch, you could get some coffee on the brew. I rather fancy a cup to wake up the little grey cells," Grace said.

"Brewed coffee coming up." Percy moved over to the corner where the electric percolator was kept.

Grace had made enough sandwiches to feed William as well, and when Elliot did not come down, Percy had no qualms about eating more than his fair share. As it was, there were still enough sandwiches left over that he wrapped some in cling-film and put them in the fridge for his lunch at school the next day. The remaining sandwiches he covered on the plate and put those in the fridge too. He sat chatting with his mother for a while after they had finished their lunch while Grace had a second cuppa to wake up even more grey cells.

"You know those grey cells you keep waking up with coffee – I think some are trying to escape into your hair," Percy teased as his mother poured her third cup with the intention of taking it up to her study with her.

"I rather think I've got two men in my life to blame the grey hairs on," Grace responded.

"I take it you mean Dad and your boss," Percy quickly responded.

"Unless Jaz has had a sex change over the weekend, my boss is a woman, not a man."

"But you couldn't possibly be meaning me. I'm so good I can't be giving you grey hairs."

"Maybe not as many as your father, but I still do worry over you. Although not as much now that you've got William and more of a life than this house."

"Thanks, Mum. I love you." Percy moved over to hug his mum as she stood to leave the room. "How about I cook supper tonight, so you don't have to worry about it?"

"That would be very nice. Thank you. You can choose what you want to do." Grace kissed Percy on the cheek and went to her study.

Percy went through to the kitchen and looked at what was in the fridge and freezer and decided on doing a simple meal of bangers and mash. He knew he didn't need Mavis' recipe or guidance with that. He took a pack of sausages out of the freezer and put them in the microwave to defrost and headed back to his room and his laptop. He did google cooking bangers and mash and got a couple of good tips from it but then he moved onto looking at some porn clips and reading some more stories. They were enough to get him hard enough that he had to stop to take care of it. After that he didn't feel much like reading the stories or looking at guys doing stuff. He sat for about ten minutes thinking about what they could do with Dan and decided to make a few notes to discuss with William on the way to school. As he began making his notes, he thought that maybe he could try his hand at writing a story and the notes he was making for discussion became notes to build his story on. He knew he had seen on the one site that there was a forum for writing tips and advice, so went to that to see what he could learn.

He was glad he had set an alarm for when he needed to go and cook because he had become so engrossed in reading the guidance that he lost track of time until the alarm brought him back to earth.

Percy had fun cooking the meal and felt quite proud when his mother complimented him on it. Elliot didn't put in an appearance, and Grace said his meal could go in the fridge for him to get later. Percy had noticed that the sandwiches he had left on the plate had gone when he came to start cooking the meal.

Percy and Grace again sat in the lounge and chatted for a bit after the meal. Percy asked his mum what her work involved that she spent so much time on it at home as well as going in to work.

"Both your father and I are doing research. I'm not sure what Elliot is researching, but I do know he's had to sign the official secrets act and swear an oath about it. That's why he's got that special cover over his screen so you can't see anything unless you're looking directly at the monitor. And it's all passworded. One of the reasons we have separate studies and our own computers here at home. My research is looking at the global approach to national economies and actually involves a lot of reading and picking the salient facts out of a lot of verbiage. There's nothing secret about it; what I'm looking at is mostly available to anyone who knows where to look and what sort of searches to use on the internet," Grace explained. She seemed quite pleased that Percy was taking an interest.

"Does it involve a lot of maths? Is that where I get my maths skills from?"

"There is a fair bit of maths, some of it mental and other I have to sit with pen and paper. But you get your maths skills from both of us. Your father is very good with maths too. However, if you have a love for it, then that probably comes from me."

When they had finished chatting Percy noted that it was nearly nine o'clock and he wished his mother a good night and headed up to have his shower and get ready for bed. Of course, this included a long chat with William in which he told William that he was thinking of trying to write a story. William was very enthusiastic. He said he thought Percy could write as good a story as any of the better writers on the web and better than many on the one site they visited when alone. They promised to meet up the next morning as usual to walk to school, and Percy turned the light off.

William's sleep was disturbed by an incessant ringing. As he came awake he realised it was his mobile. He looked groggily at his digital alarm clock. It was half past three in the morning. He groaned until he saw on his mobile's screen that it was Percy who was ringing him. "What is it?" he asked as he answered the phone.

"There's hundreds of police around us and they're banging on the door. Is there anything happening near you?" William could hear panic in Percy's voice.

He got out of bed and looked out his window onto the street. "Nothing happening out here, but I can see a sort of blue glow up towards yours."

"Look, I better go down to see what's up before they bash the door in. I'm just going to pull some shorts on. Don't hang up on me."

"I won't," William assured him.

After getting a pair of joggers on, Percy picked up his phone again. "You there?"

"I'm here. Where are you now?"

"I'm going down the stairs. Stay on and listen to whatever you can hear. We might need some sort of witness. I can see Dad is in his study, and he seems to be in a panic."

"Why hasn't he gone to the door then?" William asked.

"I don't know, but I'm nearly there."

William heard the banging on the door much louder as Percy got to it and then he heard Percy call out that he was opening the door. As soon as the door opened he heard, "Police. We have a warrant to search this house. We'll have that to start with. ... Hey, that's my personal phone, you can't just take it." Then the phone went dead. William went through and woke his father up and told him what had happened. Adam wasted no time in getting dressed, and he and William drove up to Percy's house. There was a police car with flashing lights across their gateway so no car could get in or out. Adam pulled to the side of the road and got out to see what he could do. At the gateway he was stopped by a couple of armed police who told him he had to stay away.

"My son's friend is in that house. He called my son telling him he thought they were being attacked. Are they alright?" Adam asked. He knew he was stretching the truth a little but it did give him the grounds to ask the question.

"No one is being attacked. This is a state matter that the police are assisting in. Now the best you can do is go back home," the policeman told Adam.

"Dad, they've got Percy in handcuffs. They're putting him in that van," William called out. He had been looking up the drive, where there were a couple more police vehicles with flashing lights parked.

"What is he supposed to have done that you are arresting a seventeen-year-old boy at this time of the night?" Adam asked.

"I have not been given any further information. I just know that this is a state matter and we are not to allow anyone in or out of the property," the constable told Adam.

"What do you mean by a `state matter'?" Adam asked.

"I don't really know. All I know is that the police are not in charge; some other agents are. Now, I must ask you to please move away and leave us to do our duty," the policeman ordered.

Adam and William moved back and got into their car. Adam started the engine to get the heating on, but they didn't leave. As they watched, Elliot was led out, also cuffed, and put into a different police van. Both the vans then left, and another two vans were driven in and the police car moved back to block the entranceway. Adam and William didn't see any more, because as the van Percy was in moved off down the street Adam turned his car around and began to follow the van.

"Make a note of that registration number, William. If we lose it, we might be able to find it again. I want to see where they're taking Percy," Adam said, trying to keep a sufficient distance behind the van to avoid raising suspicion.

At first Adam thought they were heading towards the Police Station, but as they got near to it, the van turned off down another street. Adam risked getting a bit closer, which enabled him to see the van pass through an archway into a rather drab building. As they watched big wooden doors closed the arched entrance, blocking further pursuit. Adam drove past the building and asked William to look carefully to see if they could find out anything about what went on in the building. They found nothing. After getting the numbers of the buildings either side of it and the name of the street, they went home to begin a search for information. The search was mostly fruitless. All they could discover was that the building was owned by the government and designated as an office block.

Realizing that they couldn't really find out anything, Adam turned to William. "I'm sorry, son. I don't know what else we can do now. You need to get ready for school, and I have to go to work. You'd better go and wake Clive and Juliet up. Don't tell them anything about Percy yet. Wait until you and Juliet are on your way to school, then tell her. Once their office opens, I'm going to phone our solicitor and see if he can advise us. If I learn anything more, I'll text you immediately. Keep your phone on vibrate so you'll know when you get a message." Adam stood up and put a hand on William's shoulder. "I know this is tough, but we need to trust in Percy. I think this is all to do with how his father has been behaving, and I'm sure that Percy is totally innocent."

"I'm sure too. I just hope they don't do anything to him," William said. The catch in his voice told Adam that William was close to tears.
