Chapter 6 - Here Goes Nothing
"Jeff, you getting up for breakfast?"
I opened my eyes, annoyed that Justin was trying to get me up so early. I had a meeting at 1 in the afternoon, least he could do was let me enjoy my morning.
"Depends on what breakfast is."
"Well there's bacon, eggs, toast, and of course coffee. Anything else you might like?"
I pulled the covers down across my waist and looked at Justin. He was wearing a pair of blue CK boxers and that was it. Yummy.
"Are you on the menu?"
Justin gave me an evil grin. "Sorry babe, not this morning. I have a meeting at 11 and it's already 9:30. Maybe when you get back from your meeting this evening I can make some dinner and add myself to your personal desert menu."
"Works for me," I replied as I crawled out of the bed and headed to the bathroom. I stopped short as a slight detail snagged Justin's suggestion. "But aren't the guys coming over for supper tonight?"
"Yup. Don't worry. They'll be fine down here while we go upstairs for a few hours."
"Heheheh. Works for me." I continued into the bathroom and had my shower.
I came back from my meeting and I was not impressed. Management wanted us to do a small bar tour to promote the album. We declined. The only other option they gave us was to go as opening act for Green Day. Yeah, right. They aren't even on our label, fuck that.
So we're doing the bar tour. Oh gee such fun.
But enough of business. The guys are all here tonight. Be nice, be courteous, be sweet.
"Hi guys."
"Hey Jeff," came the four replies.
"How was your meeting," asked Justin as he walked up to me and kissed me.
"Shitty, but then again, that's what I expected. What about yours?"
"We managed to get what we want."
I walked over to the coat rack in Justin's living room (no, I don't live with him, I just spend a shitload of time there. I have a place across town.) and hung my trench on one of the top hooks. "Don't you always?"
"Pretty much," replied JC. "We also heard something that you might be interested in hearing."
"Oh?" I went and sat on the love seat with Justin and wrapped my arms around his shoulders. He snuggled down next to me and rested his head on my shoulder.
"The BSB are back together and resume the tour next week. They're picking up where they left off and are going to make up the dates they missed at the end."
I remained silent. I really didn't care if they got back together. I mean, I didn't want them to break up, but it was of no concern to me either which way.
"They've also snubbed you guys by saying that the tour will go better without you."
"Well, Chris, all I can say is they're probably right at this point. With all the bad blood between us, oh well."
"Umm, that's not what they meant babe."
I looked down at Justin. "Then what did they mean?"
"They meant that you guys didn't have the talent needed to get the crowd going."
I was silent for a few seconds before I lost it. I started laughing and the end of my laughter was nowhere in sight.
"What's so funny?" Lance looked at me like I had grown a third head.
Once I calmed down enough I took a deep breath and explained. "We got what we wanted from the BSB. Our album is doing amazingly, with no sign of slowing down. And I... well I got what I wanted as well."
Everyone chuckled, except for Justin. He seemed to pull away from me a bit
Great, I thought, don't tell me he's falling in love with me. He knows it's only sex... right?
"Well, enough about business. Supper ready babe?"
Justin shook his head, not to answer no, but to bring himself back from a far away thought. "Should be ready, yeah."
"Great. Let's eat!"
All the guys jumped up and headed for the dining room. I stood up and let Justin fall onto the love seat completely.
"Hey!"
"I'm sorry baby, here, let me help you up." I bent over and scooped him up in my arms, making him laugh and squirm.
"Justin stop squirming or I might drop you."
"Sorry."
I headed towards the kitchen so that the two of us could get the food and serve the guys (my favorite part of course). As Justin kicked open the swinging door with his legs, the doorbell rang.
"You get dinner ready for the guys and I'll check on the door. I'll come in to help you as soon as I can."
"Works for me." I put Justin down and headed to the kitchen. I barely had one plate ready when Justin was back in again.
"Who was it?"
"It's, uh, it's Brian."
I took the plate I had prepared into the dining room with Justin following. When I had set the plate down in front of Joey I looked at Justin, wondering why he hadn't answered. He looked really disturbed. As if the person at the door was the last person he expected to see, or wanted to for that matter.
"Justin?"
"It's Brian, from the Backstreet Boys."
The rest of the guys stopped chatting and looked at us.
"Brian Littrell," asked Lance.
"What does he want," questioned JC.
"He wants... he wants to speak to Jeff."
The guys all looked at me as I stared wide-eyed at Justin.
"Me? Why me?"
"He said he wanted to talk to you. That it... that it was about Nick."
I am Scoop, hear me type. Interesting? No? Well, fine see if I care. LOL
Until next time...
