SHOOTING THE RAPIDS

"Watch out for the rock!" I called out. My voice was barely audible over the roaring of the water all around them, which was echoed and reinforced by the canyon walls around them.
"Which one?" Dennis called back.
Our raft hit with a ka-thump and the front right side buckled as the raft rose up and over it.
"That one!" I said after-the-fact. What a way to shoot the rapids! They make it look so easy on the television, but here, in it, your world is noise and water and splashing and everything happens too damned fast!
"Can you give me a bit more warning the next time!" Dennis griped.
Ka-thump, thump, ka-thump!
"There's three more little ones!" I called out.
"I said more warning, not less!"
"We got rocks all over the place!" I pointed out.
"So steer us already! Which way!"
"Left! Left! No, right! Right!" I modified, as my way turned out to be right toward a really big rock! Too big! We were going right at it!
Ka-thump, thump, thump, ka-THUMPPPP!!!!
"Then there was nothing around me but the bubbling roar of the rapids...from underneath and inside them!
I came back out of the water sputtering, and found myself in the midst of an impromptu surf down the rapids...ass-first!
"Dennis! Dennis!" I called frantically. Where was Dennis?
"Clyde! Grab our pack!" Dennis called to me.
Pack? I looked and it was going right past me, in a slightly faster portion of the rapid. God, the pack! Our tent and clothes are in that one!
I swam for it, sort of. The rapids defeated any real swimming, I was more like half-running, half-floating.
But I reached the pack, I reached it! I looked back, Dennis had hold of the raft, if not inside it, now where was the pack with our lunches and the cell phone...time for us to call for help, damn it!
"Clyde!" Dennis called.
"What?" I looked back at Dennis, and his arm pointing my way. No, ahead of me. What was ahead of me?
I looked. A falls! A freaking waterfall!
It wasn't a sheer drop, rather a steep incline in the river's flow. Very steep! I went over it with all the grace of a drunk hippopotamus, with a roar and a rolling tumble like rolling downhill, and then I struck a rock submerged in the water, it didn't hurt much but it spun me like a top and I was briefly feet first, then I hit the bottom and the force of my speed lifted me out of the water and I splatted face-first into the pool at the bottom.
The only good thing about it was that this waterfall was the end of the rapids, there was a swirling of foamy water as it sorted itself all out, and then the rippling of the waves damped down and they settled into a quite benign flow of water down a more sedate stretch of the river.
Damn it, this was how Dennis had talked me into taking this damned ride, the rapids of this river were broken by stretches of much calmer water, I only had to deal with the rapids now and then, not non-stop! Of course, this was true of most rapids, which after all, aren't a common feature on even the most tempestuous river.
"Clyde! Clyde!" Dennis called as he crested the top of the waterfall. He had gotten back into the raft and went down the waterfall like it was a child's slide, I compared it to his my ignominious descent and came to a common-enough resolution on this...I hated Dennis' guts! Well, for right now, anyhow!
"Clyde, are you all right?" Dennis said as he pulled up next to me.
"Hell, no!" I griped as I took the arm offered to me and was pulled back into the raft. It wasn't hard to climb into the raft...and was just as easy to fall out of, I had learned. "What the hell are we doing here, Dennis?"
"Having fun?" Dennis ventured for an answer.
"Grrrrr!" I growled, for lack of a better response.
"Come on, we're having fun, aren't we?"
"Dennis?" I asked in exasperation. "Just how much experience do you really have on white water?"
Dennis had talked the tour guide into letting us have a raft of our own by claiming to be "certified" on the water and seeming to know what he was talking about. We had, per his instructions, let the others get ahead, and waited for a fork in the river.
To the left was the proper course, a simple set of rapids that would lead us down to the camp for the night.
Dennis had steered us to the right, the one plainly marked "For Advanced Rafters Only!"
From there on...well, let's just say that I had lost confidence in Dennis as an experienced rafter in a hurry! He didn't know what the hell he was doing! And since I had never even pretended to know...well, you saw what happened.
And Dennis was laughing about it now! Actually laughing at my question about his experience. "Well, I may have fudged a little bit on that." he admitted.
"A little bit?"
"Okay, quite a bit."
"Dennis...how much experience do you really have?"
"I watched a documentary on it...once." Dennis informed me.
"And you brought us out into this...with only....God!" I said.
Dennis was laughing. "This fork of the river is shorter than the other." he said. "About three times as short. What say we pull into shore, dry off and change, and then we'll tackle the other set of rapids and join back up with the others?"
"Fine with me!" I said emphatically. "More than fine!"
We rowed to the shore in silence, and I got the pack with the clothes and began pulling out clothing. God, I was soaked to the skin, and then some! And while I could get dry underwear and socks and such from the pack, some things, like the crash helmet I was wearing, was going to have to put the sucker right back on...that or get far too acquainted with the rocks the next time! If I had only a few bruises from my tumble in the rock-strewn rapids, it was thanks to the helmet and the life jacket, for I had fetched up against more than one rock in my ride over the falls with my head, and....
"Clyde?" Dennis sounded contrite.
"What?" I said, grunting, looking at him. He had taken off his helmet, showing that shock of reddish-blond hair of his.
"I'm sorry."
"Really?" I said, not believing it.
"Yeah. I watched that documentary, and it all looked so easy.
"Well, it isn't."
"I know that now." Dennis said. "Look, Clyde, I had seen that documentary, I saw the map of this river, and I thought, why should we stay in a flock of other rafts, listening to kids yelling and women screaming, nurse-maided the entire way, when we could cut away and do this all by ourselves." A short pause, then in a defensive tone, "You didn't argue about that part!"
"I thought you knew what to do." I said. And my own pause, then, "And it did sound like fun."
"Yeah." Dennis said.
Another bit of silence, while we got undressed. The weather was warm, I had found the life jacket stifling in the heat. In a way, the fall into the water had been welcome in that it had cooled me off a lot...in retrospect, that is. At the time, I'd been scared shitless and unable to enjoy it!
When I got the clothes off, and was just in my boxer shorts, the benefits of getting dunked in the water on a hot summer day came through, the wind made me feel great! I looked over at Dennis, who was still fighting with his jeans, they had practically glued themselves to his body, and I went over and said, "Here, let me help you with that." Dennis' body was as appetizing as ever, the broad shoulders he kept in top shape despite a sedentary job, the narrow waist, those legs that were muscled and strong (the reason why his jeans hadn't wanted to let go, I couldn't blame them for wanting to stay nestled around those wonderful legs of his!).
I helped, but not much. Wet jeans cling like anything, it was like peeling a grap e...and the grap e didn't want to be peeled!
But finally, finally, I got the jeans off of him, and Dennis lay back on his back, wearing only his t-shirt and briefs, and raised his wet-shining legs high, wriggled them happily. "Ahhhh!" he said.
I had to laugh at that. It's why I hang with Dennis so much, you know, having fun. That was Dennis' middle name, "having fun!"
"How much time do you think we're saving by taking this short cut we weren't supposed to take?" I asked Dennis as I sat back on my legs, kneeling near him.
"Maybe forty-five minutes." Dennis judged. "It's a major fork in the river. They dug this channel we're in as a means of flood control. The rapids were just a sort of side-effect of the dig, it's why the canyon walls are so steep."
"So what happened here, where we are now?" I asked, looking around.
"They had to have someplace to keep their equipment while they were digging." Dennis explained it quite succintly.
"Oh. So we have forty-five minutes?"
"Yeah, if we want to meet up with the others where the fork rejoins the main river."
"That's enough time." I said as I leaned over Dennis.
Dennis didn't argue, he tugged his briefs down and exposed his cock faster than a fireman can unroll a firehose!
And like a hose with the water turned on, Dennis' hose filled up by the time I got my lips up and over it. When I sank my lips onto that fat pud, it was ready for me.
Dennis gave a soft groan as I sank onto his dong, and then pulled up again. "I thought you were mad at me." he said softly.
I grinned and let go long enough to say, "Just because I'm mad at you doesn't mean I don't want to suck your dick." And I went back down again.
Dennis chuckled. "It's why you and me get along so well." He said, and settled back to enjoy his blowjob.
I let him do that for a while, for I was loving the taste of his cock, all clean tasting and softly warm, the taste of clean river water, the taste of clean-living man! Dennis was sprawled out and sighing, his hand stroked my back in a softly proprietary way.
Ah, well, enough of that! I skittered around and got my crotch over next to his face.
Dennis didn't need to ask what to do, not with my prick sticking out the hole in my boxers. He caught hold of it and the next feeling I got was his warm mouth closing over my cockhead, and then he drew on it, drew on it!
I closed my eyes and groaned as those soft lips nursed me, my own motions on his prick an absent-minded second in the wash of those sensations. We both had to scoot a bit, but then I had my head resting on Dennis' thigh and his cock was easy to work like that, and Dennis' head moved in a smooth ease like a snake sliding over my thigh as his mouth worked my prick.
This was what I liked best, the gentle, synchronized movements of our bodies, Dennis and I were so damned compatible that way. What was a little dunk in a river when I got this out of it?
Dennis' hand slipped up onto my buttocks. I was expecting that, too. He always did this to me, reaching for more. When his fingertip reached my anus and probed at me, I found my body more than ready to let him push it into me.
My boxers were easy enough to get off of me, they were practically dry, the thin cotton didn't fight me the way Dennis' jeans had fought him. Soon enough, I was nude and Dennis' tongue had replaced his finger...oh, God! Yeah, God, yeah! That tongue of his was downright prehensile, it danced with a power of its own, the fat tonguetip probing at me and my ass was so damned alive!
"Come on." Dennis panted. "We have to hurry here. They'll come looking for us if we don't hurry."
"Yeah, hurry, hurry!" I said but I didn't give a damn right then about being found. They wouldn't come looking for us right away, hell! But it would give away Dennis' fib about knowing how to handle a raft on the rapids. But hurry meant that I could get Dennis inside me, now, now, God, yeah, now!
Those marvelous hands of his caught me at my waist, those legs of his nestled between mine, that big, fat, thick, wonderful....oh, God! Yeah! Yeah!
Like an old friend coming in the door, a big smile on his face, that was how Dennis' cock penetrated me, I could only raise my head and moan as he pushed it into me deeper and deeper! Oh, man, I loved that dick of his, I loved how it felt as it went into me, I loved it when it held itself at its deepest point, loved how it pulled demurely back again, leaving pleasure in its wake, greased for its return.
"Ah, yeah, Clyde." Dennis moaned. "Damn, but you've got such a hot butt. God, let's spend the rest of the day right here, we can camp and take the rest of the rapids tomorrow."
"Whatever you say." I murmured to him. Right then, I would have agreed to anything he said, just to keep that warm prick moving in and out of me.
"We can pitch our tent and get everything really dried out." Dennis urged me. "We can call on our cell phone and tell them where we are, where we decided to hang for the night."
"Fine with me." I agreed pliantly. "Oh, oh, yeah!"
Satisfied that he had manipulated me enough for one fuck (by which you can guess that Dennis did this sort of thing to me a lot...one of these days I was going to develop a defense to it...right after I stopped enjoying it so damned much! Yeah!), Dennis began to hump at me in earnest. He was really a master at plunging that hard rod into me, so many men turn it into a sort of hard bumping of bodies, but with Dennis, it glided smooth as silk on a fine Oriental robe, as soft as a kitten just washed by its mother's tongue, as delightful as an ice cream cone on a June afternoon, as proficient as a ballet dancer moving in her pirouette, Dennis body meshed with mine and my entire world was the feel of his dong inside of me and the pleasure that won for me.
As he always did, Dennis brought me to the brink of orgasm slow and easy, letting it be an organic part of our lovemaking, wafting up from inside me the way that snowflakes waft down from the sky until they bury the world in a festival of clean white glory. That glory built up in me the same way, the glory of his pud in my ass, the delight of his movements that worked my body's nerves into a joyful frenzy, the way that Dennis moved was the one thing that he really, truly was an expert at and more, and I was the one who got the benefit from it.
Softly, as gently as a painter brings life from the sterile canvas, Dennis brought the two of us to our climax, and then as it was shivering my body with the inexorable building at my floodgate, until it would be contained no more, then he gasped, Oh, God, Clyde, this is why I brought us this way, the chance to be with you here, all alone. God, Clyde, I want to do this forever with you. Always."
"Oh, oh, yeah, oh, oh!" was all my joy-bemused brain could give in answer.
"Oh, yeah, Clyde, move in with me when we get back, okay?" Dennis panted. "We'll live together and do this all the time, okay, please, okay?"
"Oh, oh, God, oh, oh!" I gasped. "Oh, God, oh!"
"Please, Clyde, please!"
"Oh, oh, oh!"
"Please, Clyde!" Dennis coaxed me. "Please!"
"Oh, OH, G-O-O-O-O-O-D!" I moaned and I spurted my jism onto the ground beneath us, and Dennis felt my ass clutching at him in my spasms, and he moaned and I felt his hands clutch me, the fingernails biting into me, not painfully, but there, right there, the very signature of Dennis' passion.
"Oh, UH-GUHHHHH!" Dennis moaned as he shot his spunk into me and that, too, was an organic, natural part of us, no assailing of my body in this, he joined with me and it was all a basic part of our coupling, and my body took that as a part of my own climax, and it brought me joy in that as well, feeling the hot spooge inside me, hot steaming jizz that put its seal upon me, upon us, the two of us, joined in rapture.
Done, we dissolved into a puddle of exhausted manhood, and I couldn't tell for a time where I left off and Dennis began, we were lying in and on and under each other, and it was all one, and I couldn't separate us, or imagine why I even needed to.
Dennis hand stroking my forehead was the first act that was uniquely his once again, and then he reached up and kissed me and the kiss was not a joining but a parting, not a sad thing in itself but simply the two of us taking up our individual mortality once more.
Dennis rested his chin on his hands, his hands on my chest, and looked into my eyes with his own aqua-colored orbs. "So, what do you say?" he asked me.
"About what?"
"About moving in with me." Dennis said. "We spend so much time together, we don't really need two apartments, do we?"
"So why don't you move in with me?" I asked him. "My place is bigger."
"But mine's nearer to my job." Dennis pointed out.
"Mine's closer to mine." I countered.
"Yeah." Dennis paused. "So which one do we take?"
"We'll figure that out later." I said to him. "Let me just say yes to living together now, and we'll work out the details when we get off this frigging river!"
"Okay, deal." Dennis agreed.
"Were you serious about staying here overnight?" I asked him. "If we make it to the camp by tonight, we can sleep in a real bed instead of the bedrolls we brought along. They didn't stay that dry, you know." We had packed things in plastic bags for the trip, but water finds a way into the darnedest places.
"Well...this is a nice place, but we can move on now, yeah." Dennis agreed. Then he brightened. "We don't even have to let on about the raft turning over."
"We don't even have to tell them that you lied through your ass." I agreed.
"Hey, hey!" Dennis said. "This was fun, wasn't it?"
"Sure." I agreed. "I like doing things with you, even if a lot of it scares me to death while we're doing it."
"Great." Dennis said, and we loaded the raft again and set out, mostly dry now, and the worst of the rapids now behind us.
"Just let's stick to the main track from here on, okay?" I pressured him.
"All right." Dennis said.
"I've had enough excitement for one week." I said emphatically.
"Yeah?" Dennis said. "That's too bad."
"Why?"
"I signed us up for skydiving lessons the day after tomorrow."
"What?" I shrieked.
Dennis laughed. He was just kidding.
"God, Dennis." I said. "If I'm going to live with you, I'm going to have to take out major medical insurance."
Dennis laughed. "Hey, at least you can't complain about it being dull! Oh, hey, the rapids are ahead."
I looked and saw a set of rapids about as nasty as the ones we had just left behind.
"Oh, God!" I sighed. Dennis had lied to me about the second set of rapids, to keep me from worrying about them. God, the things this man made me do...and then, the roaring water meshed with my brain somehow and I laughed the same carefree laugh of Dennis. "Bring them on! This time I'm ready for them!"
And we were shooting the rapids once more.
THE END
