This is the first story I've ever written, I wrote it over the summer of last year and my writing skills have grown immensely. Although this is my first story I've wrote, I have published other stories on here and am currently working on one. Under the high school section, I have the One or the Other, which is a current project; Hayden's Story; and GAvin's Got Game. Under the college section, I have The After Party. The latter three stories all contain sexual content.

Nothing has happened for the longest of times. It seems like since Spring Break kicked so much ass, the universe has to balance the awesomeness and the boringness. The twins have came over a few times, but they never stayed long. Jen has just now reached the stage of mega mood swings. It's really hard to be around her. Noah and AJ are obsessed with each other and are rarely around. Ginger has her new boyfriend who she is always with. Blake and Layla have been arguing and if I invite one of them over, they'll both thin I'm choosing sides. And finally, Amy has been depressed ever since Gray left. She won't talk to anyone about it.
"Mom! I'm bored!"
"Well help me clean the house." My mom said. She was vacuuming my room with I was planking on my bed with my face buried deep down into my pillows.
"But that's even more boring!"
"Well why don't you call one of your little buddies over?"
"They're all busy or something."
"Tyler?"
"His mom wants to have `quality time' with them."
"Tommy?"
"Same."
"Ginger?"
"Boyfriend."
"Noah?"
"AJ."
"AJ?"
"Noah."
"Jen?"
"Hormonal." I got a slap on the back of the head for that one.
"Blake?"
"Mad at Layla."
"Layla?"
"Mad at Blake."
"Amy?"
"Depressed." Slap number two.
"Jay?"
I forgot all about Jay! Him and I really haven't been that close since him and Tommy started dating. Even though he ended it a long time ago, I never really thought about trying to get our friendship going again before he leave.
I picked up my phone and kissed my mom on the cheek. "Thanks, Mom. You're the best."
She smiled. "I know I am sweetie. Now remember. Be home before midnight."
I shook my head up and down and dialed Jay's number. I hoped he was going to answer. Maybe he deleted my number from his phone since we barely talk. Maybe he's already busy. Maybe he doesn't want to talk to me.
"Hey Shawn. What's up?"
"Nothing really. I was wondering if we could hang out today. You and I haven't done that in a long time."
"Well, I guess that since I finally got squeezed into your busy schedule, I could give you an hour or two of fun."
"Thanks Jay! Now hurry and get your a-" I remembered my mom was in the room with me. ",butt over here!"
He laughed. "Whatever. I'll be there in 30 minutes."
"See ya then." I hung up the phone and smiled. Finally, I had something to do.
"So, what did he say?" My mom asked.
"He'll be here in 30 minutes. So please go while I get ready."
"If I didn't I'd have to re-clean the bathroom after you were done getting ready." She got up and left the room. But before she got up, she just had to ruffle my hair and kiss the top of my head. I could see her smiling, knowing I'd obsess about my hair now.
When Jay got here, I was finishing up. I walked downstairs and he was sitting at the table, talking to my mom about school. She was sad to hear that he and Amy wouldn't be going to the same college.
It took some tome but I was able to get Jay out of the claws of my mother and out the door. While we were backing out of the driveway, she was waving bye to us.
"I love your mom." Jay said.
"Who doesn't? She's like awesome but at the same time she can be so embarrassing."
He laughed. "That's why I love her. How else am I going to hear about the time you took off all your clothes in a Wal-Mart bathroom and streaked through the whole damn store before they caught you?"
"I was 6 and Amy dared me. That was when I thought she was God."
"Speaking of Amy, how is she doing?"
"Bad. She still moped in her room all day. Is she like that in school too?"
"In all the classes we share. I'm not sure about the others."
"Do you know what happened?"
"Nope. All I know is that Gray and DJ are out of the picture. Kinda sad that all this shit happened to her, especially of her last spring break as a high schooler."
"I wish she would tell someone what was wrong with her." Both Jay and I fell into silence. I could tell each of us were thinking about Amy in some way. For me, it was all the times her and I connected on a different level. We could tell what the other was thinking and how the other felt. Not like supernatural, but like by their facial features, body posture, and that crap.
We arrived at the movies and were on time to see the one we were both hoping to see. Jay went all out and bought the tickets, two large drinks, two large popcorn bowls or whatever they're called, and a shitload of candy. He spent a total of forty dollars. He said that it was his treat and refused to let me pay for any of it.
After the movie, Jay and I went to the restraint across the street. It was crammed packed as usual. It was filled with those eating after the movie and eating before the movie. Most were families because they refused to pay those outrageous prices for popcorn and drinks.
I tried to trick Jay and let me pay for it, but he wouldn't allow it. He wanted it all to be on him. He spent around twelve dollars here for our food. This place is pretty high for a fast food joint but cheap compared to the movie theater.
"You like the movie?"
"Yeah. It was pretty good. I didn't like the ending though. It made no sense to me. Why would you let him marry your daughter after he said what he said to him?"
"It showed he wasn't that rice pudding shit he called him at the dinner party."
"Oh...I still didn't like it. They rest of the movie was good though."
"I'm sorry, Shawn."
"Huh?"
"For dating Tommy. I knew you two were in love. I just, thought that it was just a phase and I wouldn't have to be alone anymore."
"It's okay, Jay. I promise. I'll admit I was mad at you but now I'm not."
He smiled. "That's good."
We finished eating and he took me home. I told him that we would have to do that again sometime before he left. He agreed and with that he was gone. My mom was waiting for me at the door. She looked sad. She told me that Amy had been up in her room crying for hours and it's gotten worse. She wanted me to go up and talk to her.
"Amy?" I said standing at her door. I could hear her sobbing.
"Go away!" She shouted back.
"Please tell me what's wrong. Nothing's going to get better if you don't tell me what's wrong."
"I said leave me alone!" I heard a thump at her door. I bet she threw one of her pillows at it.
I went in anyways and saw she was in the fetal position on her bed. The little make she wore was all over her face from wiping away tears. Her hair was frizzy and she looked like she has been hidden away from the world for ages.
I walked over to her and sat down. "What's wrong, Amy?"
"It's nothing." She turned away from me.
"And that's why you're lieing here, covered in tears, and pissed off at the world."
"I'm not pissed off at the world."
"Then who are you pissed off at?"
She stayed quiet for a while. At least ten minutes went by before I gave up. I got up off her bed. "Gray" I heard Amy say faintly.
"What about Gray?" I sat back down. Amy turned over and looked at me.
"She visited during spring break. I decided to throw a party and I invited her, DJ, Jay, Ginger, and some of my other friends. Everything was going great until it was only me, Gray, and DJ. Gray wrapped her arms around me and kissed me. She thanked me for the party. DJ became jealous and then started saying all these things about Gray. Things that were true. Things I was unaware of. At first I was mad at Gray for not telling me. I know she's like mysterious but they were things that should have been revealed a long time ago. I told her to get out. She did. I then told DJ to get out. The things she said should have been said by Gray and not her. So I was pissed at her too. Once the day that Gray was leaving came, I relived that the things I now know don't really matter because I love her. I went to the airport and waited hours for her to come. When she finally did, I told her that I loved her and that nothing would come between us. But she left. She said she wasn't good enough for me and left."
The look in Amy's eyes brought tears to my eyes. You could just see this empty, heartbroken look in them. As if she just lost her whole family and was all alone. I wrapped my arms around her and hugged her tight. We sat there crying for a few minutes before we were able to regain calmness.
"What were the things DJ said?"
"Like I said, they have to come from Gray and no one else. It would be like me outing you when you were scared of what people would say."
I shook my head and gave her one more hug. "If you ever need me, you know where I am. And if I'm not there, you know my number. And if I don't pick up, call Tye or get Jen. They've been threw some pretty rough shit themselves. I'm sure they can help you out."
Amy smiled. "Thanks Shawn."
