"Are you ready to make the grab? This is going to hurt them real good."

"Yeah, everything is ready right down to the gas in the car."

"Perfect,"

"They should never have fucked with you."

"Baby, they should never have fucked with us."

Tyler:

I walked inside with Keegan on my back. He made a bet with me on the way home from a new history exhibit in our city's museum that I would stop at three red lights. Sure as I'm gay, Keegan predicted right. I lost; I give him a piggyback ride.

"Okay, and the annihilator can now move from my back." I said in a submissive tone. "We are now at your Palace of Poison."

"Aw, come on, dad! Can we go just one more time? You haven't given me a piggyback ride in forever." Keegan tried to win me over using his puppy dog eyes, but unfortunately for him I looked away at exactly the right time.

"Nope," I laughed. "Why don't you go see if Jared will give you one."

"Okay," he said.

"Oh, and Keegan?" I said as he made his way up the stairs.

He walked back down a few steps. "Yeah, dad?"

"If he's sleeping you have my permission to wake his lazy butt up." I grinned wickedly.

Keegan just smiled then ran up the stairs. I on the other hand started to think of what I could make my family for dinner. There's chicken in the fridge that I pulled from the freezer last night so I really should focus on that. Oh, I know. I can make my chicken tortilla soup.

"He's not upstairs anywhere. I'll ask Travers instead." I saw Keegan open Travers's door then freeze. His eyes went wide.

"Everything okay?" I asked him.

"Uh... Um... Um..." he stuttered.

I walked to the entrance of Travers's bedroom and copied Keegan. I froze, my eyes went wide. There was no way this was happening. Keegan looked up at me in wonder.

"Come on, bud, we're leaving." I ran and grabbed my keys and wallet, ushering Keegan through the front door. I could feel the tears beginning to burn my eyes.

"Dad, where are we going?" Keegan asked me in a scared tone.

"We're gonna go visit grandma." I started up my Volvo and sped from the driveway. I furiously drove to my mom's house. But I eventually had to pull off the road to stop from getting us both killed. "God, damn it!" I slammed my hands against the steering wheel then dropped my head on it hard.

Keegan climbed up from the back and gave me a small hug. "It'll be okay, dad."

His words sent a calming effect through my body. It seemed like he would be right, but right now I am so irate I could leave Jared and never turn back. I looked up to Keegan and through my watery eyes I could tell he was about to cry too. I let up a small smile then continued on our drive.

When I got to my mom's house no one was home. I let myself in with the key I still have from years ago. I took Keegan up to my old room where we both eventually fell asleep watching cartoons.

Jared:

I blinked my eyes open. The room I was in was completely unfamiliar as well as the naked body lying next to me. When my mind got a better grip on itself I realized where I was and who I was with.

"Travers," I said softly.

"Mmm," he groaned.

What the hell am I doing in his room? The last thing I can remember is eating ice cream then feeling really tired. He led me in here and laid me on his bed. And why is he naked? I stood up from the bed and came to the realization that I, too, am naked. Why the hell am I... No, it can't be.

"Travers, wake up!" I anxiously said.

"I'm up," he said groggily.

"Why am I naked?"

He grinned widely. "Don't you remember?"

"Remember what?"

"Remember the incredible sex we had earlier."

His words hit me like a ton of bricks. My heart began to race. "We didn't have sex."

"Oh yes we did. In fact, I have the video tape to prove it."

"How did this happen?"

"You just got really tired after eating your ice cream so I bought you in here so you could sleep. You then began to hit on me and seduce me. Next thing I know I'm riding you like a bike." Travers explained too calmly.

I suddenly thought of an even more wicked thought. "Did you drug me?"

"Did I ever drug you."

"How could you do this to me!?" I demanded. The sting of tears was becoming an all too familiar thing.

"Leverage," he said.

"Leverage?"

"Here's the deal, Jared. Whatever I want to do from now on I will do. There will be no questions asked. If I want to have friends over then I will have them over. If I want to deal then I will deal."

"And if I don't comply?"

"Our video will appear all over the internet as well as your job, Tyler's job, and just so that it really hurts I'll report rape and sue your ass."

"Travers, if you think-"

"No, this is how it's going to be from now on. Spread the word to Tyler, too. I'd hate for your rep to be ruined because of his stubbornness."

I pulled my shorts back on then ran from his room to the kitchen phone. I furiously dialed Tyler's number, but he didn't answer. Looking around the kitchen I noticed food was left out on the island. Oh, God, I wonder if Tyler already found us. Suddenly, my stomach growled. The feel of vomit rising sent me running upstairs.

Tyler:

"Tyler," mom said.

"Hi, mom," I said tiredly.

"What are you doing here?" she asked.

"We need to talk," I carefully got up and walked downstairs, mom in tow. Dad wasn't home so at least I could talk about the affair without having to worry about anyone threatening to kick Jared's ass.

"So, what are you doing here with Keegan?" Mom poured us a glass of ice tea. We were sitting on the couch.

"I caught Jared in bed with someone else." I uneasily said. God, just the thought of Jared in bed with Travers made my eyes water.

Mom sighed. "I'm terribly sorry, Tyler. I knew something like this would happen someday."

I snapped my head towards her. "What!?"

"Keep your voice down. I'm just not surprised he had an affair." mom said. "Think about it, Tyler. You two have been together since high school. Neither of you had any prior experience with boys. Jared had some girls true enough, but no offense you had nothing." Mom just couldn't hold anything back. "I knew it would only be a matter of time before you or Jared cheated."

"Then why couldn't I see it?"

"Tyler, you're so madly in love you wouldn't be able to see any major problems. All you can see is Jared. That's all you want to see." mom explained. "By the way, do you know who he was with?"

"Well, when Keegan and I got home from the museum I gave him a piggyback ride until we got to the kitchen. He wanted another one so I told him to ask Jared. He came back from upstairs and said Jared wasn't up there. So he then went into Travers's room, but stopped as soon as he opened the door. When I walked to the door I couldn't believe what I saw. It was Jared lying with...with..." I couldn't even finish my sentence. I couldn't bring myself to say Travers.

"Jared had sex with someone in Travers's room!? You'd better wash those sheets right when you get home. You don't want Travers sleeping in that filth." mom crudely stated.

Mom threw an arm across my shoulders and gave me a squeeze. That act of kindness made me break down completely. I started to cry hysterically in her arms. My hands caught my falling head and just held it while my eyes emptied themselves.

"Momma," I sobbed.

She removed her arm from my shoulders. "You don't mean..."

I nodded vigorously before she could say his name.

"Oh, dear Lord." She wrapped both arms around me and held me while my tirade continued.

Keegan looked so peaceful sleeping. I don't want to wake him, but we need to get home. I need to confront Jared about this. How could Keegan get stuck with such fuckups like us as parents?

"Keegan, wake up," I softly spoke.

"Hi, dad," he whispered.

"Hey, sport, you ready to go home now?"

"Yeah, but can we get something to eat? I am so hungry I could eat a whale!"

I laughed. "Sure thing and we then we can get Jared and Travers something, too."

I picked him up and carried him to my car. Mom walked us out and wished me luck. She also told me that if I needed a place to stay I knew where to go. I gave her a long hug before I left.

On the way home I took a detour to a fast food place. I purchased everyone's favorite meal hoping I wouldn't break down in the drive-thru. Lucky for me I held myself together. After getting our food I drove us home. Keegan couldn't wait to get home and play some video games. Pulling into the driveway was one of the hardest things I've done in my short life. I knew Jared was just waiting for me inside and I did not want to see him at all.

"Dad, can I eat in my room?" Keegan asked as we walked through the front door.

I handed him the bag with his food and his drink. "Have at it, son."

"Cool, thanks, dad!"

I walked into the kitchen quietly. So far there was no sign of Jared or Travers. And Travers's door is shut so that either means Jared is still in there or Travers is alone. There'd be only two options anyways, right? But Jared definitely came out because the food I left out earlier is no longer on the island.

"Hi,"

I sharply turned around. "Jesus, you scared the hell out of me." I turned my attention back to the food.

"Tyler, we need to talk about something serious."

"If you want to talk about-" I was cut off by the sound of Travers's door opening. I looked at him as he casually walked to the fridge and grabbed a bottle of water.

"Hi, guys," he grinned. He walked back into his room and shut the door behind him.

"I'm not even going to start with you, Jared." I coldly said.

"Tyler, you don't even know the whole thing. Travers, he-"

"I don't care, Jared! I know what I saw! I'm not ready to talk about it yet. If you need me," I grabbed my food and started walking out of the kitchen, "I will be in Keegan's room."

*    *    *    *

Jared:

I don't know how to get Tyler to listen. If he only knew that Travers is blackmailing me I'm sure he would be able to forgive me. I mean, it's not like I purposely raped our son. Hell, I haven't ever even thought about either of our sons in such a way. EVER.

Tyler:

"I'm gonna sleep on your floor tonight, Keegan."

"Okay, dad,"

"Is Debbie home, Keegan?"

"Yeah, but she's asleep. She said she didn't feel well."

"Oh," I said. "Well, are you ready for bed?"

"For sure, I am totally tired."

"Even after that long nap you took earlier? How could you be tired?"

"I don't know. I just am."

*

The next morning I knew was going to be strained. I woke up around five to start getting ready. I took my shower, got dressed, made breakfast, and then started reviewing today's lesson plans. Keegan came down around six-fifty ready to go to school. I served him his breakfast. Travers came out around that time.

"Okay, boys, let's go to school."

*    *    *    *

Travers:

"Trevor, I want to fuck you."

He looked at me incredulously. "Um, we haven't even been going out for that long. And I'm definitely not ready for that."

"Then you can fuck me."

"Nope, sorry,"

"Oh, come on," I begged.

"What's gotten into you lately? All you ever talk about anymore is sex and getting high. It's like you don't even really care about me anymore." Trevor said quietly.

Great, here we go. "Well, whoever said I actually liked you?"

"What?"

"You're just a hot guy at school. I never really felt anything for you, you know?"

"You're lying. It's just the drugs talking, Travers."

"No, I'm not lying. Do you remember the night when you wanted to go out on a date? Well, I was busy getting stoned and fucked."

Trevor looked ready to cry. "What about all those times you kissed me and...held me?"

"I was trying to get into your pants you retard!"

Tyler:

First period seemed awfully quiet, more quiet than usual. Trevor especially was on the quiet side. He seemed upset about something, though. I pushed my feelings aside for the time being and taught the class the way I'm getting paid to do. At the end of class, however, I asked to speak with Trevor.

"Is everything okay, Trevor?" I asked him.

"No," he said softly. There was a crack in his voice and I knew he was on the verge of tears.

"What's going on?"

"There is, or was, this boy that I was falling in love with, but then this morning he tells me that he never even liked me. He was just using me to try and get into my pants."

That sounded damn familiar. "I'm really sorry to hear that, Trevor. I wouldn't happen to know him would I?" It couldn't be Travers.

"You probably do."

"Trevor, is it Travers?" He could only nod. Tears then escaped his eyes and sobbing flowed from his mouth. I stood up and kneeled next to him. I gave him a hug and said, "Trevor, I am so sorry. I don't know what's gotten into him anymore. He's changing and I don't know what to do anymore."

"It's not your fault, Mr. Delfino. You are a great dad." Trevor cried.

"Thanks, but obviously I'm not to him."

Trevor pulled himself together and thanked me for listening. He walked out of my class with his head hung low.

When I arrived home I immediately began thinking of what to make for dinner. The chicken from yesterday is definitely spoiled so either I got to the store to buy a new pack or I make something else. Soup really sounds good right now especially for this depressing time. Just then, Jared walked through the front door with the kids.

"Hi," he said, walking into the kitchen.

"I need to go to the store for chicken."

"Ooh, dad, can I go!? I wanna play in the arcade." Keegan asked.

"Sure, bud."

"I'd like to go, too." Jared said.

"Come on, Travers." Keegan grabbed Travers's hand and pulled him back outside.

I drove the whole family to the store. Once there, I gave Keegan some money to play in the arcade.

"Travers, watch him closely. Don't screw this up." I warned him. He just rolled his eyes and followed Travers to the arcade.

I grabbed a shopping cart and made my way into the store. I started in the bread isle then continued to the refrigerated section. Jared didn't speak a word, but I knew it would eventually come. When we got the butcher department, it came.

"Are we going to talk about what happened?" he asked me.

"I told you I'm not ready to talk about it and even if I was I sure as hell wouldn't do it in the damn meat department." I quickly, but quietly, spoke.

"But you don't know what exactly happened."

"And right now I don't care." I said. "Let's just get the hell out of here. We're making a scene." A few people were looking at us strangely. We walked to the checkout. I paid for the small amount of food I got and then walked back to my car. I went to the arcade to get the boys, but when I got there they both weren't in sight.

"Keegan," I said, walking around every machine and checking every corner. Panic started to settle in. Travers wasn't even around. I continued to look for them when a sudden pungent smell caught my attention. The smell was coming from a door used to go into a back alley. After I opened the door there stood Travers smoking pot with a couple other people. "Put that shit out!"

"No," Travers said. "I'm spending some quality time with friends."

"We're leaving. Where the hell is your brother?"

"Brother?" Travers grinned.

"Yes, Travers, where the hell is Keegan?"

"Beats me. I left him at one of the machines."

I had had enough. I grabbed Travers by the ear and drug him through the arcade. Keegan was still not in sight. Suddenly, a gun shot rang through the parking lot. Everyone dropped to the floor upon hearing it. I yanked Travers down with me and covered him as best I could.

"Dad!"

"Keegan?" I looked around, but I couldn't see him.

"Dad, help!" I heard again. I stood up risking getting shot and looked around outside. That's when I saw Keegan. He was being taken to a car. I ran as fast as I could towards him.

"Keegan!" I shouted. The man who was holding him jumped in the car. The closer I got to it the farther it seemed, but it wasn't moving. When I came within a few yards of it, it sped off. "Keegan, no!" It's like they were just dicking with me. Tears flooded my eyes as I realized my son had just been kidnapped. I dropped to my knees and began to sob with a sinking feeling of loss and rage in my heart.

ATTENTION TO ALL READERS

I published A Life So Changed. You may purchase it here: Bobby's Storefront. If you liked the story online, wait until you see it in print! I worked so hard to get this far and if you buy a copy it would mean the world to me!

I want to thank ALL of my readers for their encouragement and generosity ever since I first began A Promise Kept. It's your letters of kind or criticizing words that truly keep me inspired to write on!

I really hoped you enjoyed this chapter. As I said last chapter things are once more heating up. Last week I got a very disturbing e-mail. The writer of the message roughly said that he will not be continuing this story because of how sick and twisted it has become. He also mentioned that it didn't surprise him that my story went this way because of my screen name: brokendreamboi. Let me clear a few things up. I am not what people call emo. I am a normal person, not that emo people aren't normal. Second, I am not a sick and twisted person. What I am is a creative person who is inspired by my own thoughts, TV shows, movies, other authors, people I come in contact with, and my readers. Don't anyone dare judge me based on my screen name. I was insulted by that.

As always feel free to e-mail me with any comments or questions. Also feel free to join my group at this address. Thanks!
