A Promise Well Kept 09

Travers:

"Man, this is some good shit." I said to my new found friend.

"Told you I only have the best." He took another long puff on the joint. "Have you had enough to fuck now?"

"Yeah," I laughed. "Let me just have a little more first. Let's fuck in the shower, though, so I can get some of this scent off of me before I have to go home."

Jared:

"So, you've come up with two choices. Why not test drive both again and then make your decision? They're both moderately priced for what you want." I said to Tyler. "Geez, you say I was bad with my accessories?"

Tyler laughed. "Whatever."

"Okay, so what do you want to test drive first?"

"Well, I really liked the Cadillac so let's start with that. I just want something with a kick. When I push the gas, I want the car to roar. If I slam my brakes on, I want it to stop on a dime. When I turn sharp fast, I want it to retain its stability." Tyler went on.

"Wow," I chuckled. "You've put a lot of thought into this haven't you?" Tyler grabbed a pen and threw it at me. I dodged it and ran from the dining room, him right behind me. Perfect. We haven't had sex in days and I don't know about him, but I am dying. We ran into our room, me shutting the door behind us.

Tyler:

"You never cease to amaze me in the bedroom." I panted.

"Same to you, stud." Jared sighed.

"Well, I am ready to go car shopping."

"Aw, babe, you don't want to go again?" Jared whined.

"Are you crazy? Your sex drive has been on overdrive lately. What's up with that?" I asked him, pulling on a pair of pants.

"As if you don't like it." he said defensively.

"I never said I didn't like it, but lately you've wanted more and more of it. Am I not giving enough to you?"

Jared pondered for a second. "You're doing great, babe. Don't sweat it. We've just been so preoccupied lately."

"Yeah, I guess you're right." I sighed. "So, do you want to come with me?"

"I'm thinking about sleeping actually."

"Oh, okay, well I'll be back in a little bit. My mom should be dropping Keegan off in about an hour."

"Okay..." he grumbled tiredly.

"I love you." I whispered as I walked out of our bedroom.

Debbie was in the kitchen when I made it into the kitchen. She was making dinner for us tonight to thank us for letting her move in. I was already feeling a relief from not having to worry about dinner tonight.

"Going out, Tyler?" she asked me without turning around.

"Whoa," I said. "You got eyes in the back of your head?"

"Maybe,"

"Well, I was just going to test drive a car I'm considering. I told Jared my mom should be bringing Keegan near an hour."

"All right, no problem."

"Bye, Debbie." I walked outside to my Murano.

On the drive to the dealership, I remembered all the fun times I've had in this machine. It was my first car. Was it hard for you to give up your first car? I mean, I don't have to give this up at all, but I need to sell it so I can get money for my new one. The off ramp was coming up to the Cadillac dealership, but me going to test drive one was just a decoy. The real off ramp I needed was another five miles.

I got off the freeway and drove to the lot. There was a guy waiting for me outside already. He had a pair of keys in one hand and a piece of paper in the other. I stopped and got out.

"Welcome back, Mr. Delfino." Jerry said. "We have your vehicle in. If you'll just follow me we can take it for a drive so I can explain all of the features."

Jared:

"Travers, where the hell have you been? You were supposed to be home over an hour ago. You are damn lucky Tyler isn't home." I heatedly said.

"I'm sorry, but Jeff's car wouldn't start so we had to wait for one of his friends to give him a jump." Travers said. He sounded kind of out of it.

I walked closer towards him and stared him straight in the eyes. "Oh, my God, you are strung out!"

"No, no, Jared, I'm not strung out. I'm just really tired is all."

I almost argued with him, but thought better of it. "Just go to your room. You still have school tomorrow, and we'll discuss this then." He nodded his head then walked away.

Tyler came home about an hour after Travers did. He ran inside all excited about something, but wouldn't tell me what. He suggested that we go outside and take a look at our lawn. I was perplexed and curious about his sudden enthusiasm. When we were both standing on our lawn, something did seem a bit out of place, but I couldn't think of what even as I did a profile of our property. Suddenly, I saw a SUV sitting in our driveway and finally realized what it was.

"I thought you were just going to test drive a Cadillac?" I asked harsher than I hoped for.

"That was just a decoy so you could be even more surprised when I pulled up with a new car and a completely different brand." Tyler said happily. "So, what do you think? Isn't it awesome?"

I was still in shock from seeing it in the driveway. Truth be told, I don't even know what the hell it is. "What is it exactly, Tyler?"

"It's a Volvo XC90 Sport. It is complete with everything from the lot." He unlocked the vehicle and showed me around. The SUV was extremely nice and from what I could tell it was an incredible machine.

"How much did this cost?" I asked him, concerned about the setback of this purchase.

He grinned sheepishly. "Only about $62,000."

"$62,000!?"

"I know that's a lot of money, but we can make it work. We've been doing a good job at making the Suburban work."

I looked at him curiously. "There is a huge difference here."

"Oh, yeah," Tyler scoffed. "How?"

"Well, for only fifty-thousand I got three times the vehicle."

"Earlier you said that money wasn't an issue and that I could buy whatever I wanted." he argued.

"But, Tyler, I expected you to buy something that was in our price range at the moment. This is definitely not in it."

"We can make it work." he stated once more.

"I'm sure we can, but this will be an incredible burden." I immediately walked back inside after I said that.

I love Tyler, but sometimes he can be so immature about things. We are well-off money wise, but my Suburban put us on sort of a tight phase. And now we have his sixty-two grand to begin paying off. I'm going to have to work overtime now. His birthday plans might even have to be changed. God, I can't believe he didn't think about this before he bought the SUV. I mean, how could he be so stupid?

Later in the night after we ate my mom's wonderful beef stew, Keegan talked about his upcoming field trip. I remember my elementary field trips. They were always so much fun. He sounded so excited to be able to go to the zoo next week. Then again it's not like he hasn't been before. Hell, Tyler and I took both the boys just last year. I guess for a fifth grader that is a long time ago.

"I haven't seen Travers all night and he was really quiet at dinner." Tyler said to no one in particular.

"He told me earlier that he wasn't feeling well." I told him.

"Oh, I sure hope he gets better before Saturday so we can go to the beach."

"I'm sure he will, babe."

*

"Dr. Zanders, I was wondering if I could have Wednesday off. It's Tyler's birthday and I plan on throwing him a huge party."

"Of course, Jared. I'll just have Jim fill in for you." Zanders replied.

"Thank you so much," I said happily. "Have a good weekend, sir."

"Same to you, Jared. I'll see you on Monday."

Tyler:

"Okay, big guy, we are going to make your brother some chicken noodle soup when we get home. Hopefully that will make him feel better." I said to Keegan who was idly playing with his mp3 player.

"Can I help, dad?"

"Of course," I pulled into the driveway and shut off my Volvo. Keegan hopped out and walked up to the front door with me in tow. When I unlocked the door and opened it I couldn't believe what I saw. "Travers!"

"Tyler!"

"What the hell is this?"

Travers grabbed money from the guy's hand as the guy took a bag of green stuff from Travers's hand. "Well, it isn't what it looks like."

"You mean I didn't just see you selling pot in my house?" I shouted. "You, get out!" The guy jumped at my volume then fled out the front door. I walked right in front of Travers and stared into his eyes. "You are strung out!"

"No, no, Tyler, I'm not high." he said weirdly.

"You were dealing drugs in my house. You are high in my house. For God's sake, Travers, your brother is only ten-years-old. What if he were just upstairs? Would you have still dealt then?" Suddenly I remembered Keegan was still behind us. "Keeg, why don't you go upstairs and play some video games while I have a talk with your brother?" He nodded in response.

"You are overreacting, Tyler."

I grabbed him by the ear and rushed him into his room, slamming the door shut. I went upstairs to talk to Keegan. He didn't seem surprised that Travers was doing this so maybe this isn't the first time.

"Hey," I said coolly as I walked in his room. "We need to talk, little man."

"Is this about Travers?" he innocently asked.

"It sure is," I said, concocting up a smile. "Keegan, I need you to be completely honest with me right now, okay?" He nodded his head. "Has Travers done this before?"

Keegan looked at me with watery eyes. "He made me promise not to tell you or Jared. He scared me when he said it."

"Said what? For you not tell on him?" I asked calmly. I sat next to him on his bed and held him as he began to cry.

"Yeah," he softly spoke. "I caught him giving away sugar one time, too."

"Sugar?"

"Yeah, he gave someone a bag of white stuff."

"Oh, God," I muttered.

"Daddy, please don't tell him I told you! He'll be so mad at me!" Keegan begged.

"Don't worry, I won't tell him anything, okay? This will be between you and me only."

"Thanks, dad." he sighed.

I kissed him on the forehead and then walked out of his room. Jared should be home any minute and then we need to discuss Travers's new found hobby immediately. Figuring I should start dinner... Wait a second, where the hell is Debbie? Her car wasn't here when I got home. She must've gone out shopping or something.

"Tyler," Jared called out.

"I'm in the kitchen," I shouted back.

"I had such a great day at work." Jared gushed. He poured himself a glass of ice tea and sat at the island. "How was your day?"

"It was fine until I walked through the door." I dully replied.

"What happened?"

I turned away from the stove to face Jared. "Travers was dealing pot in our house. According to Keegan this isn't the first time either. Travers has also dealt sugar before."

"Sugar?" Jared asked curiously.

"White, powdery substance," I said. "Does that ring a bell?"

"Cocaine!?"

"I think we might have a problem." I solemnly said. "I think this could be because of his rape."

"Where the hell is he? We can't just sit around on this one. This definitely isn't a phase." Jared said.

"Yelling won't solve anything, but I completely agree that this is no phase."

"So, what do we do?"

I looked at Jared with intensity. "I guess we could just hope he stops on his own soon. I mean, we have no idea if he's doing anything more than smoking. He could just be experimenting."

"Um, actually," Jared started, "I know he's smoked another time for sure."

"What? When?"

"Last night when you brought home your new car. I was going to tell you, but then we argued and that definitely wasn't the right time."

"Well, maybe we do have a problem."

*

"I can't see any parking spots big enough." Jared complained.

"We might have to pull in across the street if-"

"There!" Jared excitedly said. Another Suburban was pulling out of spot that was perfect for us, almost right on the sand. He pulled into the spot and victoriously shut off the engine. "Woo!"

Keegan started to bust up laughing. Debbie seemed amused by Jared's child-like demeanor. How could she not, though? He's adorable when he gets this way. He opened the back and we all began carrying things to the shore. I found us a perfect spot away from the already large crowd.

I blocked up both my boys so they could play without the worry of burning. Travers is like a fish, no scratch that, he's like a damn dolphin. He can stay in the water for hours, and he is extremely fast in it. I've encouraged him to go out for the swim team last year, but he didn't want to be on a team. Maybe he'll change his mind for this year.

Debbie stayed up on the sand most of the day. Occasionally she'd stick her feet in the water, but then said it was too cold for her then went back up and continued reading a book she brought. Jared and I, however, were playing with the boys nonstop. Travers's drug problem became an obsolete problem all day long. Around five, Jared wanted to call it a day. We all decided to go out and have pizza before making our trek home.

There was a pizzeria that was a favorite of ours. After the pizza was ordered, the boys went to play some video games. While they were playing, I decided to fill Debbie in on what's happening with Travers. She was mortified at his actions. Eventually the pizza came along with the boys.

Jared:

"Babe, it's Sunday plus we went to the beach yesterday. I am exhausted and sun burnt." I whined.

"I told you to wear sun block." Tyler said from the bathroom.

"I told you to wear sun block." I mocked him.

"What?" He stepped out from the bathroom and stared at me.

"I was just saying how much I love you."

"Yeah, well, I guess I'll go by myself. I'm sure Keegan would like to go with me so just keep an eye on Travers for me. Your mom's out shopping with some friends so I'm sure her ETA is late in the afternoon." Tyler went on quickly.

"Uh huh," I groaned.

"Okay, see you in a few hours."

House to myself for hours on end with the exception of Travers, but he's probably just going to stay in his room anyways. I headed downstairs for some ice cream and TV.

"Travers, do you want some ice cream?"

"No, thanks," he grinned. "But I'll keep you company."

*    *    *    *

Travers:

Great. I knew it wouldn't take him long to get bored and bug me. I just hope I mixed enough tranq with the ice cream. If I didn't, I could be risking my ass.

*    *    *    *

Jared:

"Hmm, this ice cream tastes a little weird." I said aloud.

"Really? Well, I don't think ice cream ever really goes bad taste wise." Travers said.

*    *    *    *

Travers:

Suddenly, Jared dropped his spoon. "Oh, God,"

"Jared, you don't look too good. Maybe you should come lie on my bed." I coyly suggested to him.

"Maybe you're right." I led him carefully led him to my bed.

"I'll get you some water." I stated.

"Th...anks, Trav..." Jared couldn't finish because he was now knocked out. Perfect. But I had to make absolutely sure he was out cold.

"Jared?" I poked him and hit him, but he didn't even budge. "Sweet!" The tranq was working perfectly. Now it's time to make sure the other pills are working. I lifted the waistband of his shorts and voila. My cock instantly grew hard. "Damn, and that's with the tranq."

I ran out of my room to turn the house alarm on. Seeing Jared's cock was making me hornier by the second and I can't wait to stick it in me. He's pretty fucking huge. When I got back into my room I made sure I turned the video camera on before beginning my work.

It's not always that easy to distinguish the good guys from the bad guys. Sinners can surprise you. And the same is true for saints. Why do we try to define people as simply good or simply evil? Because no one wants to admit that compassion and cruelty can live side by side in one heart. And that anyone is capable of anything. (© by Marc Cherry, 2005)

Like the ending? I sure hope so. It wasn't easy thinking of it, or at least what adult would get raped. But I figured Jared being raped by Travers would create a whole new set of problems. No one worry, though, the note writers are not forgotten. The story is just beginning to heat up once more so be sure to not miss one part!
