This is my first story that has chapters! My other stories are Hayden's Story and Gavin's Got Game, they're here under the High School section, I also have a story called The After Party, which is under the college section. If you like this story then you should check them out because there are some similarities except this one doesn't have sex. So if that's what you were looking for I'm sorry. -Spencer's perspective-
The daydream of me kissing Mason has gotten worse. Now in almost all of my dreams, I see myself kissing him, in one dream we even went further than kissing, but not as far as I had hoped we would go. Consequently, hanging out with Mason has gotten harder because of these dreams. I want him to pull me in and plant his lips on mine, I want to see if they feel as great as they do in the dream world. I know he likes me, but I can tell if I did that, I'd ruin things between us. He'd hate me forever if he knew that I knew he liked me and never did anything about it.
"You okay?" That was now like Mason's catch phrase. I zone out almost all the time when we're together.
"Huh? Oh...yeah. I'm good." Right now we're at this diner towards the outskirts of town, he said that Canyon had took him there once and he needed another one of the milkshakes. I have to admit, these shakes are worth the drive.
"You've been doing that a lot lately."
"Doing what?"
Mason smiled and rolled his eyes. "Zoning out. It's like you're not interested in talking to me anymore." His smile was now a legitimate frown.
"It's not that, it's just...there's a lot on my mind."
"Like?"
"Stuff."
Mason rolled his eyes, this time there was no smile. "We're supposed to be friends, Spencer. Why won't you tell me what's going on?"
"Because it's too complicated for me to understand."
"So you're saying I'm dumber than you?"
"No! You're extremely smart! It's just...I don't know how to tell someone exactly."
"When you want to say something, what tries to come out?"
"Well, it's like a combination of a sob, burp, and a scream."
Mason laughed. "You're weird."
"I know."
"So, back to what I was saying. You psyched for this weekend?" This weekend was the second McAlister-Glover Dinner.
"I guess so."
"But you get to spend Christmas with me. That should make it awesome."
"Actually, it's the opposite. The thought of spending Christmas with someone like you makes my skin crawl." I laughed and he couldn't help but join in. The thing is Mason does makes my skin crawl, but a different, sexual way. It's like when you know you're going to get it on and you feel the shivers run down your back as you wait for the other one to realize it's going to happen.
"You okay?" I asked Brennan.
"Yeah. I just miss Kasey some."
I kissed him on the nose. "I'm sorry. You know you're better off without him though, right?"
"Yeah. It's just hard to get over him sometimes. Maybe a kiss could help me?" I smiled and leaned over to give him a nice, long kiss. As our lips separated, he said, "I don't think that was enough." I then leaned back in and the kiss was much more sexual. Most would probably call me and Brennan sluts for acting like this and not dating, but we're teenagers and we only live once so why not have fun?
"I wish we liked each other." Brennan said. "The chemistry we have is soooo hot. Hotter than anything Kasey and I ever had."
"Maybe one day we'll be together, I like being friends for right now though. My life is very confusing right now and I don't think I could handle being in a relationship right now. I know it sounds stupid, but being boyfriends adds a whole level to the relationship."
"I know what you mean. It also means that we can do this as long as we're both single and we can start dating others whenever we want. By the way I may sabotage your relationship with Mason so I can keep your lips to me."
"If you do that, I would never kiss you again."
He giggled. "That would be hell."
"Are you free for Christmas?"
"Yeah. I don't think we're doing anything."
"I know this is last minute, but do you think your dad and mom would be cool with coming over to my place for Christmas? Mason and his family is coming over and I don't want my `boyfriend' to be alone. Also, I've told Mason we're just friends."
"I don't think they'll care, and why did you tell him?"
"I trust him. I don't think he'll tell anyone that we're lying just so we can get over Daniel and Kasey."
"True. It feels like you know him better than I do sometimes. I really need to hang out with him."
"That's why you need to come over."
"I'll come, babe. Even if there is one thousand feet of snow, I'll be there to make things awkward between you and Mason. But if it's one thousand and one feet of snow then I won't come, that's too much for me."
I laughed. "I love you."
"I love you too."
-Daniel's perspective-
So far, the ski trip has been a blast. Dad and I went out skiing earlier on the baby slope to learn. The whole time we couldn't help but laugh because we kept falling while little five-year-olds were skiing past us without a problem. We also soon learned that Kurt decided he didn't need to learn so he went down an intermediate slope and went face first into a snow bank, Emma's dad had trouble pulling him out. Kurt didn't think it was funny whatsoever, but the rest of us did.
My dad has gotten pretty close to Emma's parents, tonight they were going out to eat and leaving us teens behind, Kurt hadn't been feeling well ever since the snow bank incident anyways so it was best he stayed behind and there was someone to watch after him.
"Your is a very nice person." Emma said as soon as they shut the door to our suite on their way out.
"Yeah, he's always been like that. It was rare before he became sober though, he would always yell and shit when he was drunk." I replied.
"So, you having fun?"
"Yeah. I think Kurt's having fun too." Right now he's in our room and you can hear him moaning because of the "pain" he's in.
Emma laughed at that. "I'm glad you all decided to come out here with us."
"How could we say no? It's a fully paid trip in one of the most awesome places in the world."
"If you knew why I really wanted you all to come, you might have said no." Emma sat down on the couch. I was hoping I wouldn't have to deal with girl drama on vacation, but Emma is a friend and she is the only reason why I'm here.
I sat down beside her. "What is it?"
She looked at me. "Do I even need to tell you?"
I laughed. "No but it still shocks me."
"I really like her. I've never liked a girl like I've liked Lizzie though. I've always been able to tell if a girl was attractive or not, but I've never wanted to kiss one like the way I kiss Lizzie on Halloween. The worst part is I know Lizzie is a pig and egotistical and loud and reckless and stupid and lazy and a pot head and heartless. Why would I want a girl like that when I never even knew I liked girls?"
"Well, Lizzie does fit under the category as `bad boy,' maybe that's what makes you attracted to her."
"I've never been attracted to that kind of guy. Before I realized I really liked her, I was into guys like you and even had a small crush on you, but what I feel for Lizzie crushes that feeling."
"I know you probably don't want to hear this, but going after Lizzie is a bad thing. I would advise that you move on. She isn't ready to settle down and I can tell that you are. Maybe one day she'll be ready and you two can have a life together."
"That's easier said than done."
"I know. Honestly I love Spencer and I'm trying to love on because I know nothing is going to happen at this rate with me acting the way I do around Spencer."
"We can get over them together." Emma said as she rested her head on my shoulder.
-Emma's perspective-
Kurt was hungry so Daniel and I decided to go get him something to eat from the downstairs cafeteria place, he didn't want anything in the fridge in the room. We left the room and were just nearing the stairs when we heard something. "Excuse me, do you know where room 217 is?" Some guy said as Daniel and I passed him up in the hallway.
"Um yeah, it's right next to our room. I can take you there if you want." I said.
The dude smiled. I have to admit, he's pretty cute. He's Asian, like me, and he looks to be around our age. He's also around Daniel's height, which is a good height. "That would be nice. I'm Austin, by the way."
"I'm Emma." We then started to walk back to where our rooms were.
"If you don't mind me asking, how old are you?"
"I'm fifteen. You?"
"Sixteen. You live around here?"
"Actually, I live in Cali."
"That's not too far from me. I live in Washington."
"Nice. What brings you to Minnesota then?"
"One of my mom's old friends is here and we were looking for something to do over the break so we came here to see them. What about you?"
"We come here every year. My mom and dad were both born in China and don't have any family in America so we don't have any family to visit on these kind of holidays."
"My mom was born in China too, but my dad's family has lived here for a couple generations now."
"Is it just you and your parents here?"
"There's my little sister too, but my mom would never let me bring someone I'm dating. I think she would die if I wasn't dating an Asian. How are your parents dealing with that if they're both from China?"
"Huh?"
"That guy you were with. He's your boyfriend, right? There's like no way he could be your brother."
"He's not my boyfriend. We're just friends. And I'm single." I then turned to look at Daniel, but he wasn't there. Apparently he ran off.
"I'm single too. There aren't a lot of chicks at my school that my mom would accept. I know it's not her choice but I want my girlfriend and mom to get along."
"Back to your earlier question, I've never really dated so I don't know how my parents would react to me dating a non-Asian."
For the next little bit, we were both quiet. We soon arrived to the rooms, we were walking at a turtle's pace the whole time, and he started to talk again. "So, how long are you going to be here?"
"Til the 29th."
"Bummer, I was hoping you'd be here over New Years too."
"Why's that?"
"Well I don't have anyone to kiss on New Years and I think if we got to know each other a little better..."
"Can I have your number?" I blurted out. I was already blushing and if I didn't stop him I'd be screaming and jumping and crying in joy.
"Yeah. Hand me your phone real quick." I handed it over and he quickly typed some stuff in. "Here you go." He handed it back to me. "I guess I'll see you around?"
I looked at my phone and he put his name in as "Austin T ;)" "Yeah. See ya."
Austin then went into his room. When he shut the door. I literally started to run, I tripped at least five times. I then ran into Daniel and started screaming and jumping. "You okay?" He said laughing.
"He gave me his number! And he's SOOOO cute! I think I'm over Lizzie." I couldn't breathe, I was so excited.
"Does he live in Cali?"
"No."
"Then what are you going to do when you two have to go your separate ways?"
I punched Daniel on the arm. "Shut up! Stop ruining my moment."
He laughed. "Come on, I'm sure Kurt thinks we're dead now."
-Mason's perspective-
"Hey!" Tyler said over the phone. He was currently somewhere in Ohio visiting some of his family.
"Hey, you got a minute?"
"Yeah. Give me just a second."
"Okay." I really needed to talk to Tyler. I wanted to see if he could help me out with my problem with Spencer.
"Okay, spill it."
"I think I'm ready to tell Spencer everything."
"Really?" Tyler genuinely sounded shocked.
"Yeah. I feel like I'm starting to lose him and I don't want him to leave and I know if I told him I would probably have a chance with him."
"What about your cousin."
"Long story short they're just friends."
"Okay. But are you sure you'd be telling him for the right reasons? I don't want you to do it because you feel like you need to, you need to do it when you want to."
"I know. And I want Spencer, so if that means telling him that I love him keeps him around then I'll do it."
"That's not what I meant. You'd be doing it because you would feel like you need to, not because you want to. If Spencer leaves, then let him leave. If you are meant to be together he'll stay around until you feel like it's time. I know it sounds scary and very risky, but that' how life goes, bud."
That's exactly what Mom was telling me earlier. I didn't want to listen to her so that's why I came to Tyler. "Why does everyone keep saying that?"
"That's how life goes. Sorry if it doesn't suit your needs, your highness." I could hear Tyler smiling through the phone, I couldn't help but smile too.
"Why did we break up?" I said laughing. "You're so awesome."
"Because of this one kid named Spencer. I don't know if you know him but you're in love with him or something like that."
"Oh yeah, forgot about that one tiny detail."
"Hey, I gotta go, mom thinks I'm constipated. See ya when I get back."
"See ya." We both hung up and sighed. I really hated my life.
"Mason, sweetie, you okay?" My mom said as she knocked on my door.
"Yeah. I was just on the phone with Tyler."
She opened the door and came in. "How is he, sweetie?"
"He's having fun, I guess."
"You need to stop moping. You and Spencer will be together sooner than you think."
"I thought we were going to date the minute I laid my eyes on him, this is extremely late, Mom."
"Give it some time. I can see the way he looks at you and I know you'll end up together some day. Maybe you can adopt and give me some grandbabies."
"Mom! Please!" I laughed.
"You're not the only one with dreams around here." She said laughing.
"Mom, I love you."
"I love you too, sweetie. Now be on your best behavior this weekend. I don't want to lose a friend because you hurt her son."
"I'm not going to do anything stupid, Mom. I like him too much." Normally I refuse to talk about the people I like with my parents because it feels awkward, but talking about Spencer is something that feels normal.
"I'm also going to need you to talk to Garret. He's been getting in trouble at school and he won't tell me or Dad what's going on. You've always been the closest with him."
"Do you want me to do it right now?"
"If you wouldn't mind."
I groaned and rolled out of bed. I dragged myself out of my room and into Garret's, he was drawing something in one of his school notebooks. "Hey."
I startled him a little. "Hey Mason."
"Everything okay?"
"No." Garret normally never lied to me, he knew I wouldn't condemn him for anything.
"What's going on?"
"It's school. There's this guy and he's been picking on me. I tried standing up to him, but he hit me last time." Garret showed me a bruise on his arm. I could see tears in his eyes as he showed me. "I then started to cry and he and his friends started laughing at me. They pushed me down in the mud, that's why I was wearing my gym clothes when I came home the other day. Please don't tell mom or dad." Garret was now crying.
"Garret, you need to tell someone. Things will only get worse at this rate."
"I don't want mommy and daddy to know I'm weak. I want to be like you, Mason. I want to be strong and popular."
I sat down beside him and held him as he cried. "Back when I was in middle school, I was actually made fun of all the time. I was much bigger than the rest of the students so they would call me the incredible hulk. It didn't stop `til I told Mom. I know it sucks to admit you're being picked on, but I don't want to see you get hurt any more, Garret."
His sobbing slowed down. "I love you, Mason."
"I love you too, Garret. Now let's go talk to Mom."
