Blast From The Past

The sun had just risen, the clouds were parting and it looked like there would be a beautiful day ahead.  Now, I would be saying that, except for the fact that I had to be at the airport at four this morning, just to make it through security in time to make my flight at 6.  After a little less than an hour and a half flight to San Francisco and an hour layover, I finally made it on board the plane headed to New York City.

The plane ride was very boring, even the movies weren't keeping my attention after the first couple of them.  It could of been worse.. I could've been seated next to the old obnoxious guy that smells really bad and totally invades your personal space.  Instead I got seated next to an incredibly good looking guy, I'd say about 18 or 19 years old, short brown hair, styled in the bed head look, and these deep, icy blue eyes.  Not that I was looking or anything.  He had been asleep most of the flight, so I didn't know much about him.  With about an hour and a half left until we arrived at the airport, the boy stirred, slowly shaking the sleep away.  He rubbed his eyes and tried to focus, as he looked around the plane.  When he turned towards me, he seemed to just stop... like he didn't notice me here before.  His eyes pierced into me, I was at a loss for words.  What is it with me meeting all these boys with incredible eyes?  None compared to Tyler's though, not even close.  He cleared his throat and spoke to me.

"Hey... did I keep you awake with my snoring?"  I held back a giggle, as that's not how I would expect someone to start a conversation.

"Nah man, you didn't snore.  I don't know how you slept this long though, between the movies and people talking.  I'm Blade by the way."  I offered my hand and he took hold of it.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Chris."  His hand seemed to linger a bit on mine, but I didn't think much of it.  "You visiting family in the city?"

"No, I'm out here to scout a player for my hockey team.  My coach couldn't make it, so I got to come out here by myself.  Hopefully things will work out and I'll be able to enjoy my time here."

"That's cool, you play hockey?  Hehe, probably why you look like you've been in a couple of scraps recently.  Shit... I mean.. not--not that you look bad, you look great... oh my god, I'll just shut up now."  He turned towards the window, as I smiled at him in amusement.

"Dude, calm down, I knew what you meant.  Don't worry about anything, your secret's safe with me."

He turned to me, and gave me a look of confusion mixed with terror, "Wha-what do u mean.. my secret?"

"Haha, come on dude, you so totally just blew your cover.  You can drop the act."  Chris looked away and let out a sigh.  His breathing became short and he started sniffling.  I put my hand on his shoulder and tried to get him to look at me.  "Chris, it's okay, it's not like I'm gonna go tell everyone.  Not like it makes a difference if you prefer guys."

His eyes slowly met mine, the tears brimming over his eyes giving them a glassy look.  "You don't care?  It doesn't bother you that I'm just some dirty fag?"

"Dude!  Why would you say something like that?  You can't help who you love and it would be pretty messed up if I shunned you for being gay, when I'm heterolly challenged as well."  I gave him a goofy grin, as he just stared at me in shock.

"You-- no way.... you're just messing with me.  Guys like you just aren't gay."

"Hahaha, guys like me?  Well I'm not joking, I really am.  Of course that's between me and you."

"I can't believe it.  Where did you say you're from again?"

"I didn't say, but I'm originally from Central New York, but I live in Anaheim, California now.  How about you?"

"Sigh... Oregon.  Of course you couldn't be from there."

It suddenly hit me that he was implying that he wanted to date me, I can be so dense sometimes!  "Yeah, but it's not that far from Cali... we could hang out sometime maybe.  Just as friends though... I have a boyfriend."

"Oh... figures.  How long have you been with him?"

"Not real long, a few weeks.  I love him a lot though.  So, what about you?"

He gave me a sad smile, "Nope, no one special in my life.  I wish there was."

"Why don't you have a boyfriend?  I mean, not to be too forward, but you are very good looking and really nice."

"Thanks.  I guess I'm just not good enough for anyone.  Story of my life."

"Well, you obviously don't see the person I see right now.  I mean, your eyes are so incredible... it's like getting lost in an ocean.  Hehe, if you're ever in my area you should stop by.  I'm sure we could get you hooked up with someone."

He gave me a mischievous smile, "How about you dump your boyfriend and come stay with me."

I gave him a playful punch on the shoulder, "Sorry bud, I hope to be with Tyler for the long run."

"Tyler huh?  Cute name."  The Pilot's voice came over the intercom letting us know the plane would be landing shortly.  "Well, I guess it's almost time to go.  I'm staying at the Grand Hyatt..."  He pulled out a pen and piece of paper and wrote the number down to his hotel, "if you want to hook up while you're here.. I mean, you know, as friends.  We could go out on the town, have some fun."

"Sounds like fun.  I guess I'm getting the royal treatment, my school is setting me up in The Plaza.  I'm not really sure of the phone number, but I'll give you a call after I get settled in."  The Plane landing wasn't too rough, and in no time we were on our way off the plane.  After everyone got through the hassle of getting their luggage and going through security check, Chris and I said our final good byes.  "I'll see you soon bro.  It was nice meeting you."  I gave him a quick hug, which he returned.

"Thanks, Blade.  I really do hope we can hang out together later."  He looked around to make sure no one was watching and in the blink of an eye, leaned over and kissed me on the cheek.  I was a little shocked that he had done that in public, but before I could say anything he was walking out the door with a big smile on his face.

I made my way to the front gates, looking for anyone that looked like they might be looking for me.  After a couple of rounds, a man in a business suit walked in holding a sign that said "Blade Stevens" in big bold letters.  I let out a little laugh at how cliché the sign thing was and started towards him.  I put down my luggage and reached out a hand to him, "Hi, I'm Blade, I believe you're looking for me."  He smiled and shook my hand.

"Hello, Blade.  I'm Mr. Jarvis, director of the athletics department at Westchester Prep School.  Let's get you checked into your hotel, and then we'll head on over to the school, so you can take a look and see if J.C. is the player you are looking for."

"Sure.. lead the way."  I followed him outside and my eyes almost popped out when I saw our ride.  It was a huge, black stretch limo.  Mr. Jarvis must've seen the look of disbelief on my face, as he let out a chuckle.

"Pick up your jaw off the ground and hop in."  I blushed, as the limo driver put my luggage in the trunk.  Mr. Jarvis got in and I followed.  "Now, I'm sure you have some questions about J.C.  You can ask me what you would like to know, and I will do my best to answer.  I would rather most of your questions be left for J.C. himself, but I will do my best."

"Well, I really don't have much to ask.  I'll be basing my evaluation on his talent, and personality. Does he know the situation... I mean about if we both agree on him joining The Phantoms, that he will be coming back with me?  What I'm basically saying is, is he prepared to come with me this soon?"

"He has been briefed on the situation and at first he was totally against it, but when I and his coach talked to him, we convinced him that there would be better opportunities out in in Anaheim for him to be seen by scouts.  He's still not totally set on going, mostly due to his girlfriend."

"So this is going to be a problem?"

"Well, he has already lived away from her for a year, but she comes down on weekends to see him.  You will probably meet her as well.  If J.C. does go with you to California, then it will be almost impossible for him to maintain the relationship.  Sigh.. teenage love."

I sat there in silence, contemplating what he just told me.  How could I ask this kid to leave the love of his life behind, just to come play hockey.  Would I do it if the situation arose... could I leave Tyler behind?  I was snapped out of my thoughts, when Mr. Jarvis cleared his throat to let me know we had arrived at the hotel.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be staying at The Plaza... it's just surreal.  We walked through the entrance and to the front desk.  The woman there double checked the reservations and called a bellhop to show me to my room.  Mr. Jarvis took a seat in the lobby and told me to come back down after I had settled in.  I followed the bellhop, who luckily didn't turn out to be some model for me to drool over, led me to my room.  When he opened the door, I just about dropped my suitcase.  The room was huge!  A king size bed, a mini bar.. not that I would be using it of course, television, stereo, jacuzzi, and all of the normal things that come with an average hotel room.. just ten times better!  I was tempted to go jump on the bed, but remembered the bellhop was still at the door.  I took some money out of my wallet and handed it to him.  "Sorry about that.. hehe, got caught up in the moment."

"It's okay sir, you're not the first person to do so.  If you need anything just ring the front desk and I will bring it to your room.  Thank you, and have a good day."

As soon as the door closed I took a running start and dove onto the bed.  Now this is living!  I looked over the pay per view listing.. hmm no good porn! Hahaha, only the straight variety.  After a few minutes I decided it was time to stop goofing off and change, so I could get over to scout this guy.  I took out a long sleeve red, satin shirt and white pants.  Hey, I like to be a little dressed up for these kind of occasions.  After I was all dressed, I fixed my hair, sprayed a bit of cologne on, grabbed the clipboard I brought and headed back down to the lobby.  Mr. Jarvis stood up as I approached.  "Ready to go?"

"Yes.  He does know I'm coming to scout him today, right?"

"Yes, he was informed last week.  After the game, I'd like you to talk with him, maybe take him out on the town with you."  He smirked at me, "I know you aren't going to stay in that hotel the whole time, while there's a huge city to explore."

"Got that right."  With that, we headed to the limo and we were off to Westchester Prep.  A million things were running through my mind, mostly all the worst case scenarios.  He won't like me, I won't like him, he'll be a prick.. you know the usual.  It took about 45 minutes to get there and I was impressed by how nice the school looked.  There was a crowd of students hanging out in front of the steps leading to the entrance.  I watched through the window as we pulled up.  It was as if time stood still when they saw the limo pull up.  Mr. Jarvis stepped out of his side and a look of recognition came across some of their faces, then I stepped out of my side.  Some of them just looked at me, but the majority of the students stared as if I was some kind of alien.  "This way Blade."  I followed him up the steps, as I got some looks from some of the students that seemed a little more than friendly.  The wind picked up all of a sudden and some paper flew off of my clipboard.  Luckily they didn't fly far and I reached them before they flew away.  I bent down to pick them up and the cat calls and whistles started.  I blushed furiously and quickly made my way into the building.  What the hell kind of school is this anyway?

Mr. Jarvis laughed at my predicament, but motioned for me to follow him, without adding to my embarrassment.  I could hear the crowd as we approached their ice facility.  When we walked in, I was surprised at the amount of people there.  We were only a few minutes late, so we hadn't missed much.  I was led to a seat in the fifth row, before Mr. Jarvis said he would be back in awhile and started to walk away.  "Wait!  What number is he?  There's no names on the back of their jerseys."

"Oh, I'm sorry.  He's number 3, on defense.  I'll bring you down to the locker room after the game is finished.  Have fun."

He walked off and I scanned the ice for number 3.  He must be on the bench.  After a couple of minutes, I found who I was looking for.  He had some great speed right off the start.  I watched intently every move he made, to break plays up, and start up the offense.  The game was pretty uneventful through the first period, but I was impressed by this "J.C.'s" skills.  Right at the start of the second period, a young boy, I'd say around 10 or 11 sat down in the seat next to me.  Of course, he wasn't there more than a minute before he started asking questions.

"What's your name?  I'm Davey, I'm 11, and I like to skateboard."  I laughed at his hyper talking.

"My name is Blade.  Nice to meet you Davey."  I resumed writing notes down about J.C, but I should've known that I wasn't going to shrug the kid off that easily.

"Where are you from?  What are you writing on that paper?  Are you a celebrity? Can I have your autograph?"

I smiled warmly at him, "I'm from California, I'm writing things about one of the players, and no I'm not a celebrity, so my autograph wouldn't be worth anything to you.  I don't mean to be rude, but I really have to pay attention to the game."  That kept him silent, for oh, say about 10 seconds.

"Can I have your autograph anyway?  My brother and his friends said I should talk to you, and find out stuff about you."

I gave him a puzzled look, "What for?"

He looked around, as if he was a spy, and leaned in to whisper something to me, "They said you're hot.  Haha, are boys supposed to think that about other boys?  Cuz I thought boys were supposed to say that about girls, but I guess not, cuz those boys said that about you and...."  I cut him off, and was almost cracking up at his antics.

"Breathe buddy, you don't have to get the whole story out in one sentence."  I paused then tried to answer his inquiry.  "Well, some boys do think other boys are "hot", as you say.  There's nothing wrong with it, though some people think there is.  Where is your brother anyway?"

"He's out in front of the school.  That's where he always hangs out... he brings me to the games, and then goes and sits out there with his friends.  Isn't that rude?  Geez, he can't even talk to you himself, he's gotta have me do it!   I'm not the one that thinks you're hot!"

I gave him a look of mock hurt, "You think I'm ugly?"

He stopped and looked at me, "Well, for a guy you're cute.  Hehe, I like your hair, it's cool.  Maybe I should grow my hair long like that... Yeah! Then I could put some red and blue in my hair too!  Wouldn't that be cool?"  I was laughing hard at him, he was so cute.

By the time he quieted down for a couple minutes, there was only 30 seconds left in the period.  There was a two on one break, and J.C. was the only man back for his team.  The opposing team's left wing faked the shot and floated a picture perfect pass towards the other winger, but J.C. dove at the puck and knocked it away as the buzzer sounded.  After seeing that, I didn't really need to see the rest of the game, I'll be trying to talk this kid into joining my team after the game.  An idea hit me and a mischievous grin spread across my face.

"Hey, Davey?"

"What?  Hey! You remembered my name!  Most of my brother's friends call me squirt... isn't that a baby name?"

"Hahaha, of course I remember your name.. you just told me it a little while ago.  Squirt is not a baby name, it's just your nickname.  Anyway, you said your brother is outside right?"  He nodded.  "Well let's go pay him a visit... but you have to help me with a little trick we're gonna play on him."

His eyes lit up at the mention of some mischief.  I leaned over and told him what to do.  We went out to the concession stand and I bought a bottle of water and gave it to him.  The boy was practically jumping at the thought of helping me play this little joke out.  We walked out the front door, where sure enough, the same students were still sitting there.  Davey tugged at my sleeve and I leaned down, "My brother is that one, sitting on the stone wall."  I glanced over at him, and he along with the others had obviously not noticed our arrival.  He was cute, an older version of Davey.  Spiked blonde hair, brown eyes, and a nice tan from what I could see.  He didn't quite look like he was from NY, because I know how hard it is to get a real tan here.  I gave Davey a playful pinch and the show was on.  He pulled me over to his brother and did his part like a true actor.

"Hey Mark!!  I found out his name for you!"  Mark, looked at his brother with a smile that quickly faded, as he did a double take when he saw me standing there.  Davey turned to me, "Here's your water back, Blade."  He tossed it to me, with the cap not even close to being screwed on right, and the water flew out of the bottle all over my shirt.  Davey, even knowing that was going to happen, was practically rolling on the ground in laughter.  Mark looked on in horror.  I, on the other hand, was trying to fight back my own snickering as I unbuttoned my shirt and took it off.  I looked Mark right in the eyes as I stood there naked from the waste up.  He didn't do a good job of hiding his staring at all.  His eyes traveled up and down my body, before they met mine and he blushed furiously.  I thought he was going to explode, his face turned so red.

I leaned over him and brought my face close to his ear, "Just some advice, when you want to know stuff about someone, ask yourself... things tend to get out when you send a little brother to do the job."  I smiled at him and the realization of what just happened came across his face.  He looked from his smirking brother, to me and back again.  Davey quickly whipped around and ran back inside laughing his ass off.  I looked around and noticed that everyone on the steps had been watching our little show.  "Anyone have a shirt I can borrow?"  They all erupted in laughter.  A couple of people yelled out they liked what I had on.  I laughed, but realized I really did need a shirt or something to throw on.  Mark finally got the nerve to speak to me.

"I have some clothes in my car... if-- if you want them."  I smiled at him.

"Show me the way."  He got up and started walking, with me right by his side.  "So, Davey tells me you think I'm hot."  He blushed some more.

"Uh.. well... Davey has a big mouth."

"It's cool man, you don't have to be uptight about it.  I mean, thanks for the compliment, but I'm already taken.  I have a beautiful boyfriend back home."  I smiled as I thought about Tyler.

He stopped all of a sudden, "Did you say boyfriend?  You're gay?!?!"

"Hahaha, why does everyone have that reaction.  Yes, I like guys, one in particular."

"Wow... I just.. well, there's not many gay guys around here."

"Really?  Could of fooled me, the way those guys back there were acting."

"Hehe, well they just like to goof off like that.  I mean they know about me, and some of my friends are bi, but the rest just joke around about it."  When we got to his car, he opened up the trunk and pulled out a white, open cuffed, long sleeve, silk shirt.  "I hope this is all right... it should fit.  You sure you don't need pants too?"  He raised his eyebrows suggestively and I laughed.

"Nope, I'm all set in that department.  You just want another free show anyway, haha."  I started to put my shirt on, when Mark put his hand on my chest and stopped me.  He ran his hands up and down my torso and chest and then pulled them away.

"Sorry... I just had to do that."  He gave me a sheepish grin.

"Well, I'll let it go this time, but stuff like that can't be happening.  Hehe, I do believe that's the first time someone has tried to feel me up in a parking lot."  He smiled and I buttoned up the shirt.  I looked myself over in the window of his car, and I was satisfied.  Being dressed in all white, really brought out my tan.  "I have to be getting back inside, I have to go talk to someone.  It was nice meeting you.  Thanks for the shirt, I'll get it back to you somehow."

"Wait!  Um, how long are you here for?"

"I leave Tuesday morning."

"Oh... do you think maybe you'd want to hang out sometime while you're here?"

"Sure.  Well, I was thinking about going to a club or something tomorrow night.  I'm staying at The Plaza, room 305, if you want to get a hold of me."

"Sweet.  I'll call you tomorrow, okay?"

"That would be cool.  We'll go out and have some fun.  Well, I'll talk to you then.  Bye."

"Bye."

I made my way back inside, and went back to my seat.  The game ended about 5 minutes later, and Mr. Jarvis showed up right on time.  He motioned for me to follow, and I started to, when Davey grabbed my hand.  "Please don't go... I want to talk to you!  You're the coolest guy I know."

"Awwww, thanks buddy.  I really have to go though.  Tell you what, your brother is going to call me tomorrow, and I will give him my phone number from back home.  Then we can talk whenever you want, okay?"

He latched onto me, in a tight hug, "Yes!  You are the best, Blade!"

"Hahaha, bye Davey."

"Bye!"

Mr. Jarvis brought me to the locker room, which was pretty loud considering the team had just won.  I tried to keep my excitement down, as there were some very good looking boys in all states of undress in there.  I was brought to the coach's office, and was left to wait for J.C. there.  I looked out the doorway as some of the guys walked out of the showers..... good lord, I better get some cold water!  I got up and looked at some stats, and flyers that were posted on the bulletin board.  I started writing some notes on my clipboard.  My back was to the door when there was a knock.  "Blade, J.C. is here to see you."

I turned around so I could greet J.C.  That's when I dropped my clipboard, and it hit the ground with a smack.  There standing in front of me was not someone I knew as J.C.... but someone I knew very well, as Joey.  The look of surprise and shock on his face matched mine.  He was as beautiful as I remembered.  The same black hair slicked forward, baby brown eyes, great body and that sexy olive complexion.  I was completely speechless, as a million emotions ran through me, all at once.  Mr. Jarvis must've caught on to our predicament, and spoke up, "Is something wrong boys?"

Joey recovered first and spoke up, "No.... I think we're just surprised to see each other."

"So you two know each other then?"

"Yeah.... we were best friends."  Joey practically whispered out.

"Wow... what are the chances of that?  Well, I'll leave you two to get reacquainted.  Blade, your limo will be waiting outside to take you back to your hotel.  I'll talk to you both tomorrow."  He shut the door on his way out, and now it was me and Joey left to talk.

I reached down and picked up my clipboard and started to talk about what I had seen, if for no other reason than to settle myself down.  "Well, I saw enough through the first and second period to see that you would be a huge addition to my team...."

"Blade.... can we just hold off on the hockey talk for a minute?"  I looked at him and shrugged.  "I know we aren't on the best of terms right now and I think we need to talk about it.  I-- I know I was wrong for doing what I did... but it wasn't all my fault you know.  You could have been more understanding."  I heard enough and started out the door when he grabbed my arm.  "Don't walk out on me again.... I miss you, Blade.  I'm sorry, what else can I say?"

I turned to him, with tears in my eyes.  "You have no idea how bad you hurt me.  It was like you threw me away like yesterday's garbage.  I walked out on you?  No, you walked out on me.  I would've done anything for you and you knew it, but that still wasn't enough.  She was worth more to you than years of friendship."

"Why won't you forgive me.... why is it so hard for you just to let it go?"

"Because I loved you!!!"  The words came out of my mouth before I could stop them.  He looked at me and let go of my arm.  "Yeah... so now you know, does that make you feel better?  You broke my heart without even knowing it."  I paused, but got no reaction from him whatsoever.  I wrote down the hotel information and threw it on the desk.  "You know the offer, if you want to come play for the Phantoms, then let me know.  I'm out."  I stalked out the door and out of that school.

I hopped in the limo and the dam burst.  The tears flowed freely down my face as everything started coming back to me.. everything I tried to forget.  You see Joey and I were the best of friends when I lived in New York.  I met him when I was 11 years old, and we were casual friends until around the time I turned 15 and he was 14.  That's when we started hanging out with each other everyday.  I would go to his house, or he would come to mine, it didn't matter when it was... night or day, even on holiday's we were with each other.  After a while of being so close with him, I started to fall in love with him.  More and more, I fell deeper and deeper for him.

I stood by him when he went out with this girl and that girl, but in reality, it hurt me more than anything to see those girls get what I could never have.  After awhile I thought the feelings had disappeared, but it was wishful thinking on my part.  They returned in full force, and I was stuck feeling the gut wrenching feeling every time I was with him.  No matter how bad it hurt when I was around him, it hurt worse when I wasn't.  I was there for him through rough times and he was there for me, without him I don't know how I would've made it through when my dad died.  He was my rock through it all.

Everything was great, I was starting to become content with being just friends with him, when Nikki came into the picture.  I figured it would just be another quick relationship and Joey would move on, which it was.  The thing is, not too long after they broke up, Joey and I had a falling out of sorts.  During that time, I became really good friends with Nikki.  We got really close and became best friends.  Eventually Joey came back into the picture.  Things were looking up, until I noticed some small things each of them would do.  Soon enough I knew that Nikki liked Joey again and vice versa.  They would flirt a lot, but not in front of me.  They'd be in one room and I'd be in another, near the end of our friendship.  I basically felt like the third wheel.  That's when I told Nikki that if she hooked up with Joey again, then I was done.  I would not be a part of it, I wasn't going to play the third wheel or the guy in-between with them.  She promised it would never happen, that it would never work out for them anyway.

Well, eventually they did hook back up... which pretty much ended our friendships.  I talked to Nikki and told her how bad she hurt me and then I talked to Joey not too long after that online.  He said he would call me, so we could talk about what was going on.... and then that call never came and that was the end.  I gave up... him not calling me did nothing, but tell me he didn't care-- that our friendship meant nothing to him.  It destroyed me.  I had nothing left to keep me in NY and when I was scouted to play hockey in Anaheim, I accepted without hesitation.  My mother wanted to leave as well and my brother really didn't have a say in the matter, but he wasn't too upset.  I guess it was our way of leaving all the bad memories behind.  With me losing Joey, Nikki, and my Dad, all under different circumstances of course, I had nothing left to look forward to in New York.

The tears would not stop and when I arrived at the hotel, I jumped out of the car and went to my room as fast as I could.  As soon as I got in the room, I collapsed against the door, all of my emotions bringing too much on me at once.  Just remembering everything like that was tearing me apart.  I made myself get up and lay on the bed.  I picked up the phone and called the front desk.  I asked them to put a call through to Anaheim... to Tyler's house.  The phone rang about 3 times before someone picked up.

"Hello?"  It must be Tyler's mother.

I tried to keep my sniffling under control, "Is-is Tyler there?"

"No, I'm sorry.  Tyler is spending the weekend with a friend.  Do you want to leave a message?"

"N-no, that's okay.  Sorry to bother you."

"It's no bother... are you a friend from school?"

"Yeah... a very good friend.  Do you know the number where Tyler is?"

"Sorry hun, he didn't leave one.  All I know is he's with his boyfriend's beach house."  I nearly dropped the phone.

"His-his boyfriend?"

"Oh... I thought since you were close, you would've known.  Don't let it change your views on Tyler, he's the same person, he just happens to have a wonderful boyfriend... maybe you know him as well, Kai Kimbal?"

"Uh yeah... I -I have to go.  Sorry again, bye."  I hung up the receiver and I pretty much went numb.

Granted, I've never met Tyler's mother so she wouldn't know who I am, but I assumed that since Tyler was out to his family, that he would have mentioned me... or at least the fact that he and Kai had broken up.  I cried myself to sleep, hoping that the world wouldn't crash down on me again tomorrow.

I slept most of the day away on Sunday.. I was in no mood to get out of bed.  At about 6 o'clock pm, I finally dragged my ass out of bed and into the shower.  I tried to block out everything that happened yesterday.. all the memories that came back to haunt me.  I must have stayed in the shower for at least 45 minutes as the water started getting cold.  I climbed out and wiped the steam from the mirror.  My eyes were starting to look half way normal, after all that crying I'm surprised they don't look a lot worse.  I looked down at my chest and saw Tyler's necklace.  That alone brought a smile to my face.  My baby is always with me, no matter what.  I dried and straightened my hair, then walked out of the bathroom to get some boxers and clothes.  What I didn't expect was for Joey to be sitting there on my bed, while I walked in buck ass naked.  I froze in place, pretty much from shock.

"Hey."

"Uhhhh..... hey.  How did you get in here... better yet, why are you here?"

"The bellhop let me in, and I'm here because we need to talk; no running out this time."

"What's to talk about?  I said what I had to say yesterday.  You know my dark secret, we both know why we stopped talking.  Seems like everything's covered to me."

"Yeah, well it's not.  We need to talk about us, our friendship.  I want it back."

"Well what about when I wanted it back?  When I sent you letters, e-mail, whatever.  I didn't get one damn word back from you.  I needed you then and you weren't there.  Losing you hurt me more than anything in my life and you couldn't take two god damn minutes that day to call me... to save our friendship."  The tears were threatening to start again, but I fought them back.

"I'm sorry, Blade.  What can I do to make you forgive me?  When I saw you in that office yesterday, it made me the happiest person alive, because I thought that meant I got a second chance.  You are the only true best friend I've ever had, and we were both wrong in our own ways with what happened.  The fact that you are gay or whatever doesn't change anything."

"It doesn't?"

"No, it doesn't.  I'm sorry that I couldn't return your feelings, but you could have told me how you felt.  Maybe it would have helped you deal with it better."

"I dealt with it just fine.  I'm perfectly secure with who I am now.  I have great friends, and a beautiful boyfriend, who I love very much.  Just because you don't have that, you want me back in your life now."

"That's harsh.  You don't have to try to hurt me you know.  If you don't want me in your life then say it, and I'll go.  If there's a chance at saving our friendship, I'll go with you to California, if there isn't then I'm staying here.  Do you understand what I'm offering here?  I will give up any chance I have to hold on to my relationship with Nikki, to have you back in my life and I love her with all my heart."  I sat there contemplating what he had just said.

"I can't ask you to do that.  If you want to come with me then that's your choice, I can't make the decision for you."

"It's a yes or no question, Blade.  Yes, there's a chance at getting our friendship back or no, there's not even a shred of hope."  He looked at me with pleading eyes.... those deep, dark brown eyes.  I didn't say anything for a few minutes, as I mulled over the situation in my head.  Finally I gave him my answer,

"Yes."  His eyes lit up and he gave me that killer smile.  He jumped up and tackled me on the bed.  He pretty much squeezed me as much as possible, while still letting me breathe a little bit.  Then he loosened up his grip a bit, but didn't let go all the way or get off me.  Joey just stared right into my eyes and that's when things started to get awkward and uncomfortable.  I didn't know what was going on, but I did know what was going on down in my groin area!  Considering I was still naked, there was no way he couldn't feel what was going on down there too.  "Um... I have to get dressed now."  He shook out of whatever train of thought he was in and got up off me.

I got up and did the best I could to hide the semi I was sporting.  As I went past him, he smacked me on the ass causing me to jump in surprise.  I glared at him, as he gave me a playful smile.  I threw a pair of boxers on, then started digging through my suitcase for something to wear.  I didn't get very far when the phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Uh, hey... is this Blade?"

"Yes it is.... I'm not taking on anymore clients tonight, sorry."  I could tell by the voice it was Mark.  I had to mess with him a little bit.

"Ummmmm....."

"Hahaha, just messing with you buddy.  What's up?"

"Well, I just wanted to see if you wanted to maybe go out tonight."

"Yeah... but is it okay if a couple of friends come along?"

"Yeah, I guess."

"Hehe, don't sound too enthusiastic.  You'll like them, they're good guys.... not to mention very easy on the eyes."

"Okay, it's cool.  How does the Sound Factory sound?  My cousin works there, so we won't have a problem getting in."

"Great.  What time do you want to go?"

"Well, the doors open at 11, so we should probably get there around 10:15 or so, that way we don't have to wait in line forever before we get in."

"Sounds like a plan.  So meet you there around 10:15 then?"

"Yup.  I'll have on a orange shirt, so I shouldn't be too hard to pick out of the crowd.  See you then."

"Later."

As soon as I hung up the phone, I had an idea.  I rummaged around for a piece of paper and dialed the number on it.

"Grand Hyatt, how may I help you, this is Nancy speaking."

"Could I get patched into Chris Reid's room please?"

"Yes, one moment sir."  The phone rang a couple of times before a groggy sounding Chris answered the phone.

"Hello?"

"Chris?"

"Yeah.. who's this?"

"It's Blade.  You know from the airplane."

"Oh! Hey!  What's up bro?"

"Well, I'm going clubbing with a couple of friends and I thought I'd give you a call to see if you'd like to come along."

"Of course! Hehe, now what sane gay guy would turn down going clubbing with a hottie like yourself."

I think he heard my blush over the phone, "Well, the two guys that are going besides us are very nice to look at too.  One's straight, so hands off him."  I looked over at Joey and stuck my tongue out at him, to which he flipped me the bird for, with a smile on his face.

"Okay, so I get to maul the other boy then.  Where are we going?"

"Sound Factory, on West 46th Street, between 11th and 12th.  Just tell the cab driver the name, he'll know where it is.  We're meeting at 10:15."

"Sweet.  So I'll see you then.  Bye."

"Bye."

I turned to Joey who still had a smile on his face.  I rolled my eyes at him then finally got some clothes out to wear.  A pair of leather pants, a black shirt, and my leather blazer.  I looked in the mirror and fixed my hair a little bit and made sure everything else was in place.  Joey came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waste, then laid his head on my shoulder.  He looked into the mirror at me and I did the same.

"We look good together."

I gave him a strange look in the mirror, "What did you say?"

"I said we'd look good together."

"But, you-- you're not gay."

He shrugged, "I'm just stating a fact, doesn't mean anything."

"Ooookkkkaaaayyy.  Well if you haven't figured it out, we're going to a club tonight."

"I'm not dressed for clubbing."

"Take some of my clothes then."

Joey walked over to my suitcase and started throwing clothes out of it.  He pulled out a pair of vinyl pants and an lime green silk shirt.  What can I say, I love silk!  He took off his shirt and threw it on the bed.  I don't know if my jaw really dropped, but the boy was hotter than hell!  His body was even better than the last time I saw it.  He put on my shirt and buttoned it up.  He started to reach for the button on his pants when he stopped.  He turned to me and looked down at the floor.

"What?"

"I, uh, well you see, I'm free balling today."

"So?  Dude, you just were laying on top of me when I was naked and now you're afraid to take your pants off in front of me?  Not like I haven't seen it before."

He gave me a nervous laugh and then undid the button on his pants, then unzipped the zipper.  The pants slowly slid to the floor and he stepped out of them.  I was trying not to stare, but it was hard not to.  His cock hung perfectly over his pouch, there wasn't a flaw to be seen.  If this were under different circumstances I don't know what would've happened.  He just stood there for a few moments, as if he was gauging my reaction.  "So, what do you think?"

"I don't think you're getting in the club like that."

"Hahaha, smart ass.  Am I what you thought?  Do I live up to your fantasy standards?"  He gave me a cocky grin.

"Who says I fantasized about you?"  The grin fell off his face so fast, you would think it was never there.  "I'm just kidding.  If I was single and you were gay, I'd jump you right here and now."  He smiled widely and put the vinyl pants on.  The green shirt really brought out his olive complexion.

We talked for the next couple of hours about everything that has been going on in our lives since we last saw each other.  I told him all about Kai, Tyler, Jordan, hockey, my confrontations with Sean and so on.  He was really interested in everything I said, especially about Tyler.  I told him how we met, about the necklace, practically everything about him.  He told me how things were with Nikki, his falling out with some of his family members, his hockey team, when he moved to Westchester and just about everything else he could get in, in the time we had.  I was surprised to find out that he had told Nikki that he was most likely leaving and for her to find someone who could be there for her, and not to wait for him.  I thought that was very noble of him.  At about quarter to 10, we went downstairs and had a bellhop flag down a cab for us.  We figured it's better to leave early just in case there's a lot of traffic.  The cab dropped us off right on time, so it worked out well.  I spotted Mark easily, as he said I would.  He was looking great in that orange cut off shirt and white pants, even though he had to be freezing without a coat on!  He greeted us warmly.

"Hey!"  He said as he gave me a hug, and shook Joey's hand.  "Glad you guys could make it, but I thought you said there would be two people coming with you."

"There is, Chris should be here soon.  This is Joey by the way."

"Nice to meet you.  Is he the straight one?"

"That's what he says."

"He doesn't know what he's missing."  We bantered back and forth, while Joey just stood there looking from me to Mark.

"Um, I can hear you two, ya know!"  We all bust out laughing, and continued to joke around when we heard someone clear their throat beside us.  We all turned and there was Chris, standing there all decked out in some very snug looking jeans, and a white almost see through shirt.

"Hey Chris!  Glad you could make it.  We are so gonna rock this place.  This clown in the orange shirt is Mark and this one in the green shirt is Joey.  The straight one."  Mark snickered at that, while Joey smacked me upside the head.  "Ow!  You bitch."  Everyone bust out laughing again, and soon enough we were on our way into the club.

The waitress seated us and took our drink orders.  We chatted a bit about various things.  Mark looked particularly eager to get out on the dance floor.  "Hey Chris, why don't you go dance with Mark?"

"Dude, are you crazy?!?!?  We're not in a gay club."  Mark looked crushed that Chris said no.

"So what?  Look, there's two girls dancing together... and wait, look over there.  There's guys dancing together too!"

"I don't know......."

"Ugh!  If you go out there and dance with Mark, Joey and I will go out and dance together too, won't we Joey?"

"Sure.  You know I love to dance, I don't care if it's with girl, guy, dog, cat, tree, bush, car, truck..... "

"We get the point."  I reached my hand out to him, "Shall we?"  He nodded and took hold of my hand.  I led him out to the dance floor and Mark and Chris followed.  There was a mid tempo song on, but Joey and I got into it quickly.  Mark and Chris on the other hand, seemed to be doing some awkward head movements and swaying, hahaha.  Finally that song ended and a great song to dance to came on, Ice Cube's You Can Do It.  I learned that dance from the movie "Save The Last Dance", and it's hot.  Joey and I tore the dance floor up, everyone crowded around us to watch our moves.  Things didn't slow down after that as Shaggy's "Freaky Girl" came blaring over the speakers.

High heels gosh you look sexy
I'd steal a touch if you let me
I'm just dyin' to kick it with you girl
Hey Boo show me you're ready
Lips looking juicy like cherry
I can almost taste your flavor girl

Joey and I moved to the beat, and got really close to each other.  He put one arm on my shoulder and one on my waste, and he pulled me in close to him, as he grinded into me.

But it seems like you're the wrong type
Don't you ever get upset, girl I'd like to see you sweat
It just feels like you're too uptight
Girl you're too conservative and that ain't how I wanna live

I wanna a freaky girl, somebody just like me
Someone who understands just what a player needs
Ain't with those perfect girls, that just don't click with me
A very naughty girl that's what I need

Handcuffs can you get freaky?
How far would you go to please me?
Whips and chains girl are you down with that?

Strange places searching for pleasure
I want you to meet me wherever
Wearing just an overcoat and hat

Things were getting hot and heavy, our grinding was getting faster for a moment, but I squeezed his shoulder to let him know he had to slow down or we would be all out of sync, seeing as the song isn't really fast paced.

Or was I right, you're the wrong type
You don't ever get upset, I ain't never seen you sweat
It just feels like you're too uptight
Girl you're too conservative and that ain't how I wanna live

Want a girl to love me up, hug me up, give it to me right
Swing from me shower curtain and from me light
Hot piece of loving carry me right through the night
Me can't take the pressure when you put it up on me Hoo...
Well me Love it when you ride up on me hoo...
Really love it when you climb up on me Hoo...
Cause me know you not gonna hide from me Hoo...
Freak me girl climb up on it hoo...

The song ended and we separated momentarily, both of us breathing hard.  There were obvious bulges in our pants, but I think just about every guy on the dance floor had one as well.  Not a minute later, another song started up, this time it was LFO's 'Sex You Up'.

I wanna sex you up
I know the way you like it
Let me freak you out
I wanna sex you up
I know the way you like it
Let me freak you out
Girl, you are my destiny
Baby, I like the way you walk, the way you talk
And you, you are a mystery
Come on baby let me inside

I wanna sex you up that's right
Come on now let's get it on tonight
Said I wanna sex you up
Come on now let's get it on

Joey and I were getting way too hot, in more ways than one, on the dance floor.  I glanced over at Mark and Chris and noticed, they were getting into it as well.  Joey spun around in front of me, then backed into me, grinding his ass into my groin.

I wanna sex you up and down
Freak it to the sound let's toss it around
Come on now as I feel the rhythm as I hit 'em
Your boobs that is as I side up in them
Well let's flip it side to side
We'll take it slow then fast for a funky ride

And we'll make it last the whole night long
'Cause I wanna sex you up babe get it on

I wanna sex you up that's right
Come on now let's get it on tonight
Said I wanna sex you up
Come on now let's get it on

All I wanna do is hold you tonight
And baby it's time for you and me can't you see
You, you know I treat you right
Come on baby let me inside

As Joey moved downward, I went right with him, our bodies moving as one.

Hey I, Hey I, I wanna rock with you
Hey I, Hey I, do you feel it too
Hey I, Hey I, I wanna rock with you
Hey I, Hey I, do you feel it too

I wanna sex you up
I know the way you like it
Let me freak you out
I wanna sex you up
I know the way you like it
Let me freak you out

The music came to an end and we all headed back to our table, flustered and sweating.  Joey sat next to me and Mark sat next to Chris.  We all gulped our drinks down in no time, the dancing obviously dehydrating us a bit.  Mark just looked at Joey and I funny.

"I thought he was straight and I thought you had a boyfriend, Blade."  I gave him a confused look.

"What does me having a boyfriend have anything to do with?"

"Well, you guys were getting pretty hot and heavy out there.  A few more minutes of grinding and I think you both would be in a pretty sticky situation."  Mark teased.  Chris laughed along with him.

"Well, dancing is not cheating.  I would never cheat on Tyler.  It was just two friends having fun."  They both looked over to Joey, as if they weren't going to stop staring at him until he explained himself.

"What?  Geez, just because I grinded with a guy, it doesn't make me gay.  Damn heterophobes."  He stuck out his tongue at them.  We all laughed, but I too, had my inquiries about Joey's actions today.

We danced for a couple more hours, then decided to call it a night.  I gave Mark and Chris my email address and phone number and said my good byes.  From the looks they were giving each other, it looked like there may be a possible love connection if they can work out the distance somehow.  Of course I told Mark to tell Davey goodbye for me.  Joey and I hailed a cab and we went on our way back to The Plaza.  The cab ride was pretty silent and we arrived at the hotel quickly, with there being minimal traffic.  I asked Joey after we got out of the cab, if he was going to take it home so he could get some rest and pack, but he insisted on staying at the hotel.

We got up stairs and I immediately started stripping down.  I wanted to get into that bed as soon as possible, I was completely beat.  I hopped into bed and got under the covers.  Joey was struggling to get the vinyl pants off, as they were sticking to his legs.  If anyone has ever worn vinyl pants, you'll know that they are extremely warm pants and they tend to stick to your legs when you sweat.  I had a nice view of him again, once the pants were off, as he was once again naked.  He was definitely sporting some wood this time around though.

"Can I have a blanket and pillow?"

"For what?"

"The floor is kinda hard."

"Haha, so are you."  He blushed, "But you're not sleeping on the floor.  There's plenty of room on the bed."

"Are you sure?  I mean I don't have anything on you know."

"Dude, I sleep with Tyler all the time, and he sleeps in the buff.  It doesn't bother me."

"He's your boyfriend though....."  I grabbed his arm and pulled him onto the bed.

"Now go to sleep."  He pulled the blanket up over himself and settled in.  After a few minutes he was sound asleep, breathing in a slow steady pattern.  He must be someone that moves around a lot in his sleep, because not 10 minutes later, he had rolled right next to me, his arm over my upper body and his face inches from my head.  I could smell him, not a bad smell, but like his scent, mixed with his cologne and a faint sweat.  It was really intoxicating and I had to concentrate hard not to let it take me over completely.  A few moments later, I fell asleep, happy as could be.

The next day was spent packing up whatever stuff Joey could take on the plane.  I decided he would stay at my house, in the guest room.  This way he won't have to live with some stranger.  We got about 4 or 5 suitcases filled with clothes, and a bag with other items all packed up and brought them to the hotel.  We worked out a bit in the gym, to kill off the rest of the day.  We turned in around 8 o'clock, since our flight leaves at 5.  We slept side by side again, and it was nice.  I felt good being so close to Joey, but it was not a sexual thing.  Soon enough the wake up call had come and we got up and got showered. I double checked the room to make sure we had everything, then headed down to the lobby to check out.  The limo was waiting for us, with Mr. Jarvis inside.  He had Joey sign release forms and such, and would send the rest out to my place.  When we arrived at the airport he wished us both good luck and then headed back to wherever he had to be.  The security check went fairly quick, not many people were there this early.  We boarded the plane and took our seats next to each other.  As we took off, we both looked out the window and said our final good byes to New York.  Soon enough, Joey was asleep with his head resting on my shoulder, and I was on my way to dreamland, thinking how great the trip had been.  I had a great time, met great people and got my best friend back.  Life is good.

So, a new character!  I hope you like Joey, I think he's a really good character for the story.  Writing the interlude was a lot of fun, just because it took a break from the normal storyline.  Blade and his NY buddies got to have some fun, and it was a good break from the drama for me.  Hehe, but don't expect that to last for too long =P  Now, I'm looking for pictures that you guys would think the characters look like.  More specifically Tyler.  I've got all the others, excluding Joey, because I haven't gotten around to looking for him yet.  Tyler is tough, because everyone does have their own version of him in mind, and he's described as almost perfect in the story.  So, if you guys have a pic, that you think would be good to use for Tyler, send it my way, and whatever one gets picked, you'll get an advance of the next chapter.  So, I hope to hear from you all soon, hehe EMAIL!! Take care everyone.  XvXJadenXvX@aol.com
