CHAPTER 6

SORROW

"Blade... Blade.  Come on, please wake up!!"  I could hear frantic voices.. or maybe it was just one voice, I don't know.  All I know is, I feel like I've been hit by a truck.  "Blade, can you hear me?"  Why can't I answer?  Oh, yeah... It's all coming back to me now.  I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I'm having trouble responding because of a couple of right hooks to my jaw.  Come on, I have to open my eyes-- well at least the one that I know will still open.  I felt something wet dabbing and wiping at my face.  "He's not responding, we have to call an ambulance....."  Ambulance?  No way.  I struggled with myself, but I finally managed to get a word out.

"No."  Everything got quiet.

"What?  Did he say something?"

"I don't know, I thought I heard him."  Ok, I guess that answers my question on if there was more than one person here.  "Get closer to him and see if you can hear anything."

I could feel whoever it was, put their ear close to my mouth.  "Blade, answer me if you can hear me."  I finally got control over my mouth and got out a response.

"I'm alive."

"He's Okay!"  The next thing I knew I was being squeezed to death!

"Ugh!  Easy on the hugging!"  Too my surprise, both of my eyes slowly opened up.  I guess Kai didn't get me in the eye as good as I thought.  Things were still a bit blurred, but there was no mistaking that blonde mop of hair that belonged to the guy who was hugging me.  He helped me up, but kept his arms around me.  "Tyler, what are you doing here?"

"We were on the phone remember?  Then you told me to hold, because someone was at the door.  I couldn't really hear what was going on, but I kept calling out to you, but you never got back on the phone.  I got worried so I ran over here, as fast as I could.  The door was unlocked so I came in after no one answered... and I saw you laying on the ground all bloody, unconscious.  Do you remember what happened?  Who did this to you?  Was it Sean?"

"Tyler, slow down.  I'm ok, just a little banged up.  Speaking of that, what's my damage?"

"The cut that you got in your fight with Sean reopened and your lip has a couple of cuts.  Other than that I think you'll just be a little bruised."

"My jaw feels like it's off it hinges.  He got me good."

"Who?  Blade, why are you avoiding telling me?"  He's right I am avoiding it.  He's going to find out anyway, so I might as well tell him now.

"Kai.  It was Kai."

He looked at me stunned.  "Kai?  He did this to you?  Where is he... you must've messed him up bad, if he got you this good."  Just thinking about it brought tears to my eyes.  I destroyed him, but not in a physical way.  I practically tore out his heart and shattered it.

"I don't know where he went--home probably.  I didn't touch him, Tyler.  I promised him I would never hit him and I kept it.  I've hurt him enough anyway."  I pause slightly, to try and wipe the tears from my eyes, but it was kind of tough with Tyler's arms wrapped around me.  "That's what you were trying to tell me on the phone right?  That he found out that we kissed?  He had a fucking picture!"

"I know... I saw them.  There was a whole bunch of them.  It was Carla... she gave Kai the envelope, with the pictures in it, at the game.  I don't know how she got them... or how she knew Kai and I were together."

"That bitch!  I should've known.  But why?  What does she gain from this?  If she really wanted to hurt us, why didn't she just spread the pictures around school?  It doesn't make any sense."

"I wouldn't put it past her to do that as well.  Maybe she's working her way up to that.  Who knows.  We'll have to figure this out tomorrow, it's too late to be doing this now.  We are going to the hospital, to get you checked out; no arguments."  He finally let go of me--not that I was complaining.  For some reason it totally slipped my mind, that there was more than just Tyler and myself in the room.  I turned my head quickly and saw Eric, sitting next to Matt, on the couch.  I couldn't read the looks on their faces.  I started to feel nervous, as they just stared at me and Tyler, not saying a word.  They obviously had to know what was going on.  If what we said didn't give it away, I'm pretty sure Tyler holding me the entire time we talked did.

"Uh, Eric, Matt, what are you thinking?"

"You're gay?"  They both asked in unison.  Sigh.. I really have to be more careful.  Though, I really didn't have any power over it this time.

"Yeah... I'm gay.  How do you guys feel about that?"

Matt jumped in first, "I'm ok with it.  My cousin is gay and he's awesome.  It doesn't make a difference either way."  I gave him a friendly smile.

"Thanks Matt.  Eric?"  He didn't respond.  He just sat there and stared past me... at Tyler.  "Eric, bro.. are you ok with this?"  He just glanced at me, then looked back at Tyler again.

"Are.. are you two together?"  I turned my head towards Tyler.  I really don't know what we are and from the look on his face, he was just as confused.

"No, we're not together.  We're kind of confused right now, well at least I know I am.  I need to know you're all right with this though.  It's really important."

"Uh.. I think I need some time to work things out in my head.  I'll be fine.. just give me some space."  With that, he walked up the stairs to his room.  Matt looked at me and gave me a shrug, then went after him.  I just flopped down on to the couch.  Tyler followed and took a seat next to me.

"That went well."

"He'll be ok, Blade.  It just shocked him.  That's how my sister reacted at first, but when she came around, it only made us closer.  Your cuts look like they are closing up a bit.  I still want you to go to the hospital and get that one above your eye, stitched up again."

"I know, but I really don't want to go anywhere tonight.  I'll just put a butterfly on it, that'll be fine for now.  If that doesn't get it closed up, I'll get stitches in the morning.  If I was to go anywhere, I should go to Kai's...."

He cut me off, "No way.  You are staying here and going to bed.  I don't think it's the best idea for anyone to confront Kai tonight.  Maybe he'll cool off tonight and we'll be able to talk to him tomorrow.  I don't really have a choice, seeing as I have to help finish the stage setup with him."

Something was bugging me in the back of my mind.  "Tyler, why are you being so calm about this?  He is.. errr was your boyfriend.  It's like you don't care.  I mean to me it seems like I'm taking the fall for this.  I guess it's better like this anyway.  At least I know Kai won't hurt you.  It's me that he wants to break in half.  I deserve it though."

"I do care!  I care a lot!  I've been crying my eyes out all night, because I didn't know what was going to happen.  I'm sorry if you think Kai is putting the blame on you.  Believe me, he knows that it's my fault too.  I'm just kind of numb right now... I just never thought anything like this would happen.  Guess my necklace didn't protect you too well, after all."  The necklace.  The look in Kai's eyes when he saw it hanging around my neck will haunt me forever.  The pain that showed in his eyes, that slowly was overcome by intense rage.  He was right... I ruined his life.  I took away the one thing that meant everything to him.  What the hell is wrong with me?

I got off the couch and started towards the stairs.  I motioned for Tyler to follow me and he did.  We headed up to my room, where I turned on the radio and started to strip off my clothes.  So much for my my nice white shirt... it's covered in blood.  I don't think any detergent is going to help it.  Once I was down to my boxers I climbed in to bed.  I looked at Tyler, who hadn't moved an inch since we got in here.

"Ty, snap out of it.  You can stand there and daydream all night or you can come get some sleep with me.  I don't want you walking home this late and I'm not really up to driving right now.  If you need some clothes to sleep in or whatever, just grab something from my dresser."  He looked like he hesitated at first, but then started to strip down.  I watched intently as the moonlight shone throughout the window and radiated off his smooth, tan skin.  He was wearing the cutest white boxers, with little puppies on them.  He stopped and started to hook his fingers into the waist band, then stopped and looked at me.

"I uh, usually don't wear anything to bed."  He cast his eyes down to the floor and I could just tell he was blushing.

"Dude, it's fine.  I don't care what you wear or don't wear, for that matter.  I just want you to be comfortable.  Relax, we're just going to sleep."  He quickly dropped his boxers and just stood there.  I don't know if he was giving me a show, or if he just wasn't sure if he was supposed to sleep on the bed with me.  I smiled at him and patted the spot next to me, on the bed.  As he walked over, I soaked in the image of him, in all his glory.  Absolutely beautiful.  There wasn't a blemish on him, that could be seen by the naked eye.  He slipped under the covers and snuggled up to me.  I was laying on my back, so he threw one of his legs over mine and laid his head on my chest.  I put my arm around him and drifted off to dreamland, with my troubles slipping from my mind for the night and a blonde adonis sleeping in my arms.

I awoke the next morning, around 10.  The sun was shining brightly through the window.  Tyler was still sound asleep in my arms, something I could definitely get used to.  Having him laying here with me feels so right, but in another way, so wrong.  If I hadn't shown up, he and Kai would be happy, together.  I can't help, but feel guilty for that.  I didn't want to wake him, so I just laid still and admired him.  His short steady breathing, the way his chest would rise and fall... I just wanted to memorize every detail.  Haha.... even the one poking into my side right now. The thing is, even though I fantasize about what it would be like to be with Tyler, in that way, that's not what's important.  It's not a sexual thing with Tyler-- I mean not that, that isn't a bonus, but I would be content on just holding him every night and waking up next to him in the morning.  That's enough for me.  I played with his hair and stroked his forehead gently.  He slowly began to stir.  "Hey, sleepy."

He looked up at me and smiled.  Then before I knew what was happening, he leaned over and gave me a quick kiss.

"Ow.... bruised lips, there tiger.  Besides, who gave you permission to kiss me anyway?"  He knew I was teasing, so he gave me a little pout.  I laughed at him, but noticed how much my jaw hurt when I did.  I grimaced and Ty noticed it.

"You ok?  What's wrong?"

"My jaw is killing me.  When I laughed, the pain just shot right through it."

"Well, I guess that means we are going to the hospital.  Come on, get ready."

"Yes, master.  You want to shower?"  He looked at me, with a surprised look on his face.  Then he smiled.  "By yourself, horn dog."

"I knew that!"  He blushed furiously.  "Tyler, it's ok really.  You go take a shower now and I'll grab one after you're done."  He walked into the bathroom and started the water.  He peaked his head back out the door.  "You sure you don't want to join me?  No funny stuff, I promise.  I'm not like that any ways, I swear."

"Very tempting, but I don't think that's the best idea right now.  You go ahead, we'll get done faster this way."  He looked a little disappointed, but smiled anyway and his head disappeared back into the bathroom.  It's not that I don't want to join him, but I'm torn on what to do right now.  He seems to have it all figured out.  It seems like he wants me, period.  I'm not so sure it's all cut and dry like that.  He has to feel something for Kai... just has to.  Can I make a commitment to him right now,  with things how they are?  I don't know.  I want to, but I'm not so sure it's a good idea.  Funny, I have the chance to have Tyler and now I don't know if I should take it.  I picked out a pair of red boxers, a red, sleeveless muscle tee and a pair of khaki colored shorts.  I laid them out on the bed, then headed for the stairs.  Before I could get there, I heard Tyler call out to me.

"Blade, could you bring me a towel please?"

I went to the linen closet and grabbed a towel out of it.  I walked into the bathroom and was greeted by a naked, dripping wet Tyler.  Yowza!  It was like deja vu.  The water glistening off his lean body, his hair dripping wet.  His dark, violet eyes were sparkling.  I tried to keep my eyes off of another particular body part, to keep from the inevitable tentage.  "I can wait while you go get a camera, then you can take a picture.  Then you can stare at that all day."

I blushed.  "Sorry... uh, here's your towel."  I handed him the towel, but he grabbed my hand along with it.  He pulled me forward right into him, so our faces were right in front of each other.  He leaned in and started kissing me.  The gentleness of his kiss was unbelievable.  I barely felt any pain, even with my injured lips.  Against my better judgment, I got into the kiss as well.  I lightly started sucking on his lower lip, then worked my way up and did the same to his upper lip.  I felt his tongue glide across my lips, so I parted my mouth slightly and let him enter.  Our tongues danced around with each other, fighting for position in each other's mouth.  I pulled away and started kissing his face.  I gently kissed his nose, then planted angel kisses all over his forehead.  Any doubt in my mind just flew out the window.  I worked my way over to his ear and gently sucked on his ear lobe.  In one quick motion, his ear was replaced by his neck.  He tasted so good, not to mention his incredible scent.  That of a teenage boy, mixed with whatever cologne he had worn the night before.  Tyler started to whimper and sigh a bit, so I knew I had the right spot.  My hands roamed up and down his back, then down to his cute bubble butt.  I was hard as rock by this point, with a wet spot forming in the front of my boxers and I could feel Tyler's naked, little guy poking in to my crotch, as he was gently thrusting, as I sucked on his neck.  I left one hand roaming Tyler's backside and brought the other one up to his nipples.  I gently played with them, causing him to wriggle around and start thrusting more furiously.  His grinding was getting to me and I could feel myself getting very close.  I could tell by the urgency in his thrusts that he was as well.  I took my mouth off of his neck, then brought my head down quickly and took his nipple into my mouth.  We both started to grind in unison, at a very fast and urgent pace.  My dick was pulsating, and I took a glance down and saw that his was as well.  I gently bit down on his nipple and he moaned out in pleasure.

"Mmmmm... I'm cumming!"  Just hearing those words come from Tyler's mouth, along with the grinding, set me off too.

"Unhhh... me too."  I stared intently, with his nipple in my mouth, down at his dick.  He shot a sizable amount of cum onto the front of my boxers, where I was unloading my own batch of baby making juice.  It was the most amazing thing to me.  We held onto each other for support, as we started kissing furiously.  After a few more minutes, our orgasms had subsided and we broke apart.  We stared into each other's eyes and smiled.

"I thought you said no funny stuff."  I gave him a lopsided grin.

"It wasn't funny to me.  It was beautiful and completely serious.  Besides, I couldn't help it!"  The mischievous smile on his face, betrayed his innocence.  "That was great though.  Where'd you learn to do that?"

"I don't know... that's the first time I've ever done anything like that.  Well, with a guy."

"Really?  You're great at it.  Wait.. does that mean you've had sex with a girl before?"

"No-- I'm a virgin.  I've had experience with a girl before.  I was with her for two years and we messed around a little bit, but nothing serious.  I wasn't in love with her."  I paused for a moment.  "Tyler, can I ask you a personal question?"

"Yeah, sure."

"How far have you gone?  Like, you've been with Kai for awhile... err were with Kai for awhile, so I was just wondering..."  He cut in.

"We've messed around a bit, but we never went all the way.  We've jerked each other off and I, uh, went down on him once."  He blushed and looked down at the floor after he said that.  "Kai wanted to return the favor, but I didn't want him to do it, because of the way I was feeling.  It wouldn't have been right.  I really messed up, didn't I?"

I took my hand and lifted his chin, so our eyes met.  "We both messed up Tyler, but the only thing we can do now is try to fix things.  I'm actually kind of surprised you and Kai didn't go all the way with each other.  Kind of happy too.  At least now I know I'm not the only virgin in town!"

"Hahaha.  So does this mean we are together?"  I just stared into his eyes.  This is my chance.. I can't let it slip away.  I pulled him into me and gave him a quick kiss on the lips.

"Yeah, if this is what you want.  If you're absolutely positive that you don't love Kai anymore, then how can I say no?  We just have to slow things down a bit.  What we just did was great, but it was a little too soon.  Is that okay with you?"

He beamed at me.  "Definitely."

"So I guess this is the part where I ask you out.  Tyler, will you be my boyfriend?"

He gave me a smirk.  "Let me think about it."

"You little..." I was about to tackle him, but he ran out of the bathroom and slammed the door shut behind him.  I decided to take my shower while I was in the bathroom.  I chucked my now, very sticky boxers, then hopped in to the tub.  I finished up quickly and went back into my room, to get the clothes I had picked out.  Tyler was laying on the bed... still naked.  God, what was he trying to do to me?  He looked up at me, and his jaw dropped.  "What?  You've seen me naked before... no big deal.  Hell, you've been naked since last night!  Speaking of that, why aren't you dressed?"

"I don't have a change of clothes."

"Well, you can pick whatever you want out of my clothes.  Boxers are in the top drawer.  Everything else is in the closet.  They might be a bit big, because you're smaller than me."

"Nuh uh!  We look like we're the same size."  He grinned evilly at me.

"I didn't mean that you perv.  Now get dressed or I'm not going to the hospital.  What time do you have to be at school to finish setting up?"

"One, but it'll be ok if I'm a little late."

"Well, if we get moving you won't have to worry about that."  I quickly threw my clothes on and went back into the bathroom to fix my hair.  When I came back out, Tyler was tying his shoes.  He was wearing my black, mesh sleeveless shirt and a pair of white shorts.  The boy just oozes sex appeal.  "Everything fit ok?"

"Yeah, good enough.  I took your Scooby Doo boxers!  They're so cute!"  I had to laugh at him.

"Do you have your clothes that you wore last night, all together?"

"Yeah... well almost all of them.  I left you one article of clothing in your dresser.  You can get it later.  Let's bounce."

As we were on the way to the hospital, I thought of something.  I can just have the team trainer look at my injuries, then I won't have to pay to get it looked at.  I ran that idea by Tyler... who reluctantly agreed to it.  So instead of going to the hospital, I turned around and drove to school.  I started to get butterflies in my stomach as we approached the building.  I was hoping Kai wouldn't be there, but no such luck.  His car was parked in his usual spot, next to where I usually park.  I decided to park closer to the front entrance, that way I would be closer to the gym.  I told Tyler to go and help set up, but he insisted on coming with me to see what the trainer says.  I think it's more like the longer he can avoid Kai, the better.  When we arrived in the locker room, it was of course deserted.  I knocked on the Trainer's Room door and I could hear rustling inside.  After a couple of seconds, a trainer opened the door, but it wasn't the hockey trainer.  I'm guessing it was the basketball trainer, considering there was a basketball player lying on the table in the office.  Must be a muscle strain.

"Is the hockey trainer, Kyle, in?"

"No, sorry, he's away this weekend.  Did you need help with something?  Just let me finish up here and I'll take a look at your face, I'm assuming."  Tyler was just leaning up against the row of lockers with a goofy, dreamy look on his face.

"Does my face really look that bad Ty?"

"No.   It's just a little black and blue around your mouth.  Your eye is surprisingly fine, except for the cut above it.  You have some kind of super powers?"  He grinned at me and I just grinned back.

"Hmmm... you never know."  As I said that, the door opened back up and the basketball player walked out.  The trainer called me in and Tyler followed.

"So, Blade, I believe it is... what happened to your face?"

"Umm... I kind of let a friend take out their frustration on it."

He snickered.  "Well, that's the first time I've heard that one.  Tell your friend to use a punching bag next time.  Well, there's nothing too serious here.  Your lips will heal--just try to lay off lip wrestling with the ladies."  I shot a look over to Tyler, who was trying to hold in his laughter.  "Just put some blistex or something like it on them, to help heal them quicker.  The cut above your eye is ok with the butterfly, but it may open up again, so I'm going to stitch that up quick."  He pulled out the needle and started threading my cut shut.  I thought Tyler was gonna pass out from the look on his face.  "Now, lets check out your jaw."  He pressed down on certain areas, that hurt like hell.  Then he rubbed it in a circular motion, which wasn't too bad.  "Well, I'm not really sure how your jaw isn't broken.  You were hit in the same spot twice, which should'vet guaranteed a broken jaw.  You are very lucky.  You sure your "friend" didn't break his hand hitting you?  If not then I don't know what you kids are eating these days, but I want some when I'm old and wrinkled.  Then I won't end up breaking a hip."  We all laughed at that.  "All right guy you're all set.  Just try to keep your jaw muscles relaxed for a day or two.  No excessive strain."

"I'm supposed to be performing in the concert tonight... what about that?"

"Well I can't tell you not to do it, but I recommend you don't sing.  That will put a severe strain on the muscles, and you will be in pain for awhile after.  Well guys, I hope everything works out.  Have a good day."

"Thanks a lot."  Tyler became chatty again, once we were alone.

"Damn, Mr. Trollis is not going to be happy about you not singing."

"Who said I wasn't going to sing?"

"Blade--come on, you heard what he said.  Do you not want to be able to talk for the next couple of days or something?"

"Sigh....fine.  Might as well get over there and let him know.  Oh, and Tyler?"

"Yeah?"

"Umm, you might want to find a girl with some cover up make up you can use."

"For what?"

"I kinda, sorta, left a love bite on your neck."  He ran to the mirror on the wall.

"DUDE!!  I can't go set up with this on my neck!  What if Kai sees it? Shit!"  Ok, now normally I would just brush that off as nothing, but I had to ask.

"What if Kai sees it?  Does that bother you?"

"Well yeah... wait, I don't know.  It's just that... I just don't want him to see it, ok?  He's going to freak out bad enough, without seeing a hickey on my neck."

"Tyler.. are you sure that's the real reason?"

"What do you mean?  Why wouldn't it be?"

"I don't think you're being honest about your feelings for Kai."

"Blade, I know what I want.  I did love Kai... key word being did.  I want to be with you.  Why can't you just accept that?"

"Fine, forget I said anything.  Come on, let's get to the auditorium.  Just stay calm, we don't want to cause a scene in front of everyone."  He grabbed my arm before I could get out the door.

"You do believe that I want to be with you, don't you?"

I gave him a forced smile.  "Yeah, of course.  Come on."  He still gave me a skeptical look, but we went on our way anyway.

When we entered the auditorium, everyone had stopped to see who had arrived.  Not that that wasn't normal, but usually they turn away and go back to what they were doing.  This time, they just stared.  The worst went through my mind... Carla had spread the pictures around.  Mr. Trollis came up and greeted us.  "Hello, boys.  I'm glad to see you here.  We could use the extra help."  He turned to the other students.  "Everyone get back to work.  We are on a schedule here!"  He turned around and started in again.  "Now, Blade I wasn't expecting you, but I'm glad you are here.  We are short handed right now, as a couple of the people who volunteered to be here, didn't show up."

"Mr. Trollis.. why did everyone just stop and stare when Tyler and I came in?"

"Oh.  Well, as you know it's almost like instinct to see who comes into a room.  As for the staring, I'm assuming it's because you seem to have had an altercation with someone.  They were most likely just surprised to see your face, marked up a bit."  Tyler and I let out a collective sigh of relief.  "I haven't heard anything else that would cause them to stare.  So enough chit chat, lets get to work."

Tyler and I stuck together until we got backstage.  Carla was standing there.... talking to Jordan.  No-- he couldn't have been in on this.  Not Jordan.  Could he?  I glanced over at Tyler, who was seeing red.  We walked calmly, but swiftly towards them.  Carla must've seen us coming because she started to back pedal make her way out to the stage.  "Carla, stop!!"  The command in Tyler's voice was one, I've never heard before from him.  She stopped and turned around.  She looked stunned, that Tyler would talk like that.  "I need to have a word with you!"  He turned to me, "Let me have my shot at her.  You go help out.  I'll be right there, ok?"  I reluctantly agreed, while giving Carla, a look of death.    Tyler walked off to the music room, with Carla following.  Jordan just stood there staring at me.

"Something you're looking at Jordan?"  I know that was cold, but I don't know why he was talking to Carla.  He looked a bit taken aback, by my snotty remark.

"What?  I was just wondering what happened to you.  Geez, sorry.  I won't look at you, ever again."  Shit, as if I didn't hurt his feeling enough last night, I had to go and do it again.

"Jordan, wait.  Look, I'm sorry--I'm just really stressed out right now.  I didn't mean to snap at you.  I just saw you with Carla and I assumed the worst."

"Seems like you do a lot of assuming with me.  I told you once before, Blade.  I am not out to get anyone.  No matter what.  Even if they do break my heart."  Ouch.

"Jordan--"

"Save it Blade.  I don't want an excuse.  I know you want Tyler.  Tyler's perfect, Tyler's beautiful, Tyler's the greatest damn thing in the world.  Whatever.  I can't compete with that.  I have to actually do some work here, so bye."  I didn't know what to say to that, so I just let him walk away.  I didn't hear someone come up behind me, while I was standing there.

"Huh.  You just seem to be crushing everyone in your path.  You should be real proud of yourself."  I spun around, to see Kai walking off into the music room.  Shit!  The music room!  Tyler and Carla are still in there.  I immediately heard yelling... though I don't think it was just Kai and Tyler.  I decided to let them handle it and just wait where I was.  After a few minutes the door flew open and Kai came storming out.  "Didn't waste anytime did you?  You know, I actually almost felt bad about what happened last night.  But after what you've done to me, I realize that you deserved it."  Tyler walked out, with tears in his eyes.  Kai pointed at Tyler's neck, "This is just the icing on the cake, right?  You ungrateful asshole.  I reached out to you, when you came to this school.  I made the effort to be your friend.  You have no idea how much I'm hurting."  His voice started to crack.  "You had no right to do this.  Everything has consequences... I just hope you two will be able to handle them.  Just--just stay away from me Blade and you too Tyler.  I can't stand to look at either of you."  Kai walked out on to the stage area and went about his job.

Carla stepped out of the rooms moments later.  My turn.  I started towards her, but Tyler stopped me.  I looked him in the eyes... those pained, tearing eyes.  "I'll make it quick, I promise.  You going to be ok?"  He just nodded and I continued over to Carla.  She let out a sigh when she saw me.

"You, me, music room, now."

She entered and I followed.  I slammed the door behind me.  I could sense her nervousness.  I was at the boiling point and she knew it.  "Well?  Are you going to explain yourself?"

"There's nothing to explain.  You got what you deserved."

"What I deserved?  What I deserved?!?!  I've never done anything to you Carla!  Not one damn thing.  You just took it upon yourself to make my life difficult.  Not only my life, but Tyler's as well.  Not to mention, pretty much destroying Kai's..."

"You can stop right there.  I didn't destroy anyone's life.  You did.  You destroyed Kai's life just by coming here.  You and your pretty boy looks, and your hockey.  Did you really think Tyler could resist?  It's your fault Blade, not mine.  I just showed him what was going on.  You may not have done anything to me personally, but you had this coming.  Next time you decide to make enemies, think twice about who they are before doing it."

"You fucking whore.  This is all because of Sean, isn't it.  You are in on this with him.  I don't believe this!"

"Believe it.  You fucked with the wrong person.  Don't think this is the end.  Think of this as a down payment."

"You are so lucky you are a girl.  You'd be lying on the floor if you were a guy.  You give your.... whatever the fuck Sean is to you, a message.  I warned him to stay away from my friends once, I won't do it again.  He wants me, he knows where to find me.  And you stay away as well.  Don't talk to me, my brother or any of my friends.  Matter of fact, don't even look at them the wrong way.  If you do, you'll be sorry.  There's other ways to repay you, than pounding your hideous face in.  Now get out of my face, I'm sure there's someone on the street looking for a cheap hooker."  I walked past her and out the door, leaving her in the music room throwing a hissy fit.

I found Tyler working with Mr. Trollis on the sound equipment.  Kai was setting up the lights over the stage and Jordan was putting programs on all of the seats.  I went over to where Tyler was so I could tell Mr. Trollis I can't perform tonight.  "Mr. Trollis, I've got some bad news.  I had the basketball trainer take a look at my injuries and he said he recommends that I not sing tonight.  The strain will be bad for my jaw muscles."

"Well, that is going to throw a wrench into our plans.  I was really looking forward to hearing you sing tonight.  You have a great voice, but if it's going to hurt you physically, then you'd better sit it out.  I'll talk to the others and see if anyone would like to perform another song or two.  Thanks for letting me know, I'll have to get right on it.  I hope you will still come to the concert tonight though.  There is a competition of sorts coming up that I will let everyone in on in the coming week.  I hope you will participate in that.  Well, I have to go talk with the other teachers.  Take care, Blade."

After he walked off I helped Tyler look over the sound equipment settings.  A couple of the mixers were a little off, so I put them how they were supposed to be.  Tyler was acting kind of strange, not really looking at me.  "Tyler, something on your mind?"

"Yeah, kind of.  Just talking to Kai really got to me.  It was like he was totally emotionless, the life that's usually in his eyes, just wasn't there.  It scared me."

"I heard yelling though..."

"He was yelling at Carla.  He wouldn't talk to me.  He just listened to what I said.  I just told him how sorry I was and that I never meant to hurt him.  I told him that I can't control who I fall in love with and that me and you were together now.  That's when he noticed the hickey and stormed out the door."

"You told him that?  He won't even listen to me.  Just tore into me again, but I can't blame him.  Well, I don't want to talk about this right now.  Hopefully things will blow over.  Are you going to fill one of the vacant slots?"

"No.  I'm just doing the two songs that I've rehearsed.  I don't want to do anymore than that.  If I don't have proper practice with them, then I don't feel comfortable singing them in front of an audience."

"You still won't tell me what you are going to sing?"

"Nope.  You'll have to wait and see."  He stuck his tongue out me and I laughed at him.  He's so cute.

We continued to prepare things for the next few hours.  After that everyone went their separate ways, to eat, get ready, and so forth.  I took Tyler to his house, so he could do what he had to do before the concert.  I told him I'd see him there, gave him a quick kiss and drove home.  I figured I'd catch a couple of z's, eat dinner, then head back to the concert.  I arrived home in no time and went inside.  Eric was sitting on the couch, just staring off into space.  I acknowledged him then went off to the kitchen.  Cooking sucks!  Guess I'm just going to eat some leftovers or something.  I grabbed my food and started to make my way to my room, when Eric called me back.

"Blade, I'm sorry if I reacted bad last night.  It just took me by total surprise.  I mean I would've never suspected in a million years, that you were gay.  It's just I don't know... weird."

"What's weird about it?  I can't help how I am, Eric.  It's not like I chose to be like this.  It's a lot harder lifestyle, and I don't think many people would choose it.  I just don't want this to push you away."

"It won't... I just have to deal with it.  Just try to keep the affection to a minimum in front of me for awhile.  I mean not that it's gross... just different.  If I were gay I'd go after Tyler too, so you could do a lot worse."

"Why Eric, are you attracted to my boyfriend?"  I teased.

"No!  I can just see he's an attractive guy... and I thought you said you weren't boyfriends!"

"Well we weren't when you asked."

"Oh my god!  You fucked last night, didn't you!?!"

"ERIC!!!  No, we didn't fuck, as you so crudely put it!  Geez!"

"Sorry."

"We are in love with each other.  Sex is just a bonus and no we haven't done it.  You think I'm easy or something?"

He gave me an evil grin.  "Well....."

"You little shit.  I'm not easy!  I've never even had sex before."

"You're a virgin!?!?!"

"Yeah.  Don't be so surprised.  I believe in the whole losing it to someone you love thing."

"Wow.  I can't believe it.  I figured you had lost your virginity a long time ago, with Kr...."

"No, I didn't."

"Oh.  Man, you are full of surprises.  I just thought, because you've always been so popular and the girls always would fall all over you, that you had to have done it before.  So have you ever done anything before?  Like oral or anything?  What's dick taste like?"

"Whoa!  Dude, you are so blunt!  I've done some things, but I've never gone down on Tyler or any guy for that matter.  I've never even been with a guy before Tyler.  So I couldn't tell you what it tastes like.  I'm guessing like any other part of your body.. like skin.  So question boy, how bout you.  What have you done?"  I could tell he didn't expect me to ask him about his activities.

"Uh... I don't have much experience really.  I've uh, felt up a couple of girls and sort of messed around with a friend."  My ears perked up at that.

"Oh really?  Who?"

"Umm... Matt.  We've jerked off together.  Nothing, you know, gay."

"Eric..."

"I know, I wasn't saying anything bad about it."

"So you and Matt, huh?  He's cute."

"Blade!  Don't go perving on my friends!"

"Hahaha... well he is!  So what's he look like naked?  Kidding!  I'm happy with what I've got.  Tyler's perfect to me."

"Well, I'm happy that you're happy.  I'm gonna go get dressed, I'm going to meet Matt to shoot some hoops."

"Is that what you call it?"  I just had to tease him about Matt.  He looked at me open mouthed.

"No!  We are just going to play some basketball!  Ugh, I shouldn't have told you about that...."

"Hahaha, I'm just messing with you.  If you ever do decide that you "want to shoot hoops" with Matt, then make sure you have protection.  Oh, and make sure its a swish.  No slam dunking."  I gave him an evil grin.

"Dude!  You are such a perv!  I'm not going to be doing any of that!  Well, I have to go, so I'll see you later.  Oh, and to answer your question smart ass, Matt is very nicely equipped."  He stuck his tongue out at me and ran upstairs.  I just stood there for a moment.  Hmmm.... something tells me that boy isn't as straight as he thinks he is.

I went up stairs and watched some TV, while I ate.  There's never anything good on, so what's the point of paying for all this new digital cable junk.  Just another waste of money.  Oh well, I'm not the one paying for it.  I just had finished eating, when the phone rang.  "Hello?"

"Can I speak to Blade, please?"

"Speaking."

"Oh! Hi, this is Michelle from FYE.  Sorry it took me so long to get back to you.  I've been so busy lately.  Well, of course you got the job, but I just need to know when you would be able to start."

"Um anytime really."

"How's Monday sound?"

"Fine.  What time should I be there?"

"Let's say 5, that way it'll give you time to wind down a bit from school."

"Ok, I'll see you then."

"Great!  I'm looking forward to it.  Have a good weekend.  Bye."

Well, looks like I'm going to be even busier now.  Oh well, I need the money.  I'll see if I can try to keep most of the hours on the weekends, so I don't get burned out during the week.  I crashed on the bed for awhile, just thinking over some things.  There's so many issues to settle.  Kai won't let me get a word in edge wise, so he's going to be tough to get through too.  Then there's Jordan, who pretty much hates me right now.  I should've never went on that date with him.  It just complicated things.  I said I wouldn't hurt him and I went ahead and did it anyway.  He doesn't deserve to be hurt.  He deserves someone who will love and cherish him completely.  I can't give that to him at this point.  I can't deny that I have some feelings for Jordan, but right now, my heart belongs to Tyler and Tyler alone.  I have to fix things and that's all there is to it.  My eyes slowly closed and I drifted off to sleep.

I awoke to the sounds of music blasting.  Eric.  The kid is hard of hearing, I swear.  Good thing it woke me up though, it's heading for 6:30.  The concert starts in half an hour.  I hurriedly went to my closet to find some dressy clothes to wear.  I picked out a pair of white pants and a black button down shirt.  I left the top two and the bottom two buttons undone.  I've picked up a nice tan since I've been here and this outfit accentuates it.  The only thing I'm weary about is having the necklace visible.  If Kai sees it I don't want a repeat performance of last night.  I fixed my hair, threw some cologne on and ran out to the car, yelling my hellos and good-byes to Mom, as I passed.  I arrived at school and the parking lot was packed.  There was one space open that I could see.. the one next to Kai's car.  Well, I don't really have a choice but to park there.  I set the alarm and made my way into the auditorium.  Looks like standing room only.  I scanned the crowd, but I couldn't really tell who was who.  I spotted Mr. Trollis and he must've seen me as well.  He waved me over.  "I'm glad that you showed up Blade.  Since you won't be singing, would you like to help out with the sound?"

"Uh, sure.  Looks like there's no where else to sit anyway."

"Good.  You shouldn't have to do much, the technician should be able to keep everything under control.  Well, I'll see you after the show.  There's a program at the table, so you will know the order."  I gave him a friendly smile, then went over to wear the sound equipment was being watched.  A couple of girls and guys, called out to me from the crowd, so I just gave them a friendly wave and took my seat.  I took a quick look at the program and saw that Jordan was up first.  The lights went dim and the announcements were made.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the Arrowhead High Concert Series Performance.  All the kids have worked really hard, so show them your appreciation.  There are a few changes that should be noted in the program.  Blade, who was scheduled to perform 2nd to last, will not be singing to night, due to physical circumstances.  However, our closing singer, Kai will be performing an extra song, plus a medley, to fill the gap.  Also, the second to last singer, Tyler, has chosen to perform a different song, than the one listed as his first in the program.  Thank you and enjoy the show.  Please welcome our first student, Jordan Asche."

The crowd applauded loudly, trying to make Jordan feel at ease.  I could tell he was nervous, from the pale color he was sporting.  I hope he can hold it together.  The technician told me to cue the music and I did as I was told.  I glanced at the program quickly to see what he was singing first.  Uptown Girl.  I watched on as he performed.  His voice was great and the little dance number he was doing along with it got the crowd into it.  By the end of the song he was breathing hard, with a big smile on his face.  The crowd clapped wildly for the effort he put in.  They quieted down when the lights turned to a light blue, and the music for his next song, "How Long Must I Cry", cued up.  It started off with a light mix of strings and Jordan's beautiful voice, harmonizing over them.

Baby, listen
I never meant to be so, so hard on you
But my, my pride had me thinkin'
Thinkin' that it was the right thing (That's right)
But girl, I really love you
And it's drivin' me crazy
That you're not here to hold me anymore

How long must I cry
How long do I have to try
To make happiness my friend
And how long will it be
Until you've come back to me
And let me feel your love again

I said I really love you
And girl, I'm thinkin' of you
There's no one in this world
Could take the place of you
Because you are my baby
And you drive me crazy
There's nothing else I would say or do
If I don't have you back in my life

I'm willing to live and die for you
Baby, don't you know that my words are true
I really love ya, still thinkin' of ya
Can't imagine livin' life without ya
I really miss you, no need to diss you
Can't live another day without you
And everything I said to you, baby it's true
I do love you, baby

The emotion he was pouring into the song was amazing.  It sent chills up my spine.

How long must I cry
How long do I have to try
To make happiness my friend
And how long will it be
Until you've come back to me
And let me feel your love again

The music faded out and everyone in the auditorium stood up and gave him a standing ovation.  I did as well, until I noticed Jordan was staring right at me.  My clapping halted and I looked up into his face.  He just gave me a sad smile, took his final bow, then walked backstage.  Mr. Trollis got back on the mic.  "Ladies and gentleman, Jordan Asche!  What a way to start off the show!  Let's keep up the pace, and welcome....."

Everything he said after that sounded like a jumble of words.  My mind was on that song.  I make him cry... I hurt him.  Yet, still he pours his heart out to me, to tell me how he feels.  God, what am I going to do.  The thoughts of Jordan, our date, his feelings and everything else kept flying through my mind, until I heard Tyler's name announced.  I must've been really out of it, because Tyler was performing second to last.  Oh, well, at least I didn't have to listen to Carla shriek.  I the announcements came over the speakers and apparently Tyler was going to sing "I'm All About You" first and then "Good-bye To You" second.  I guess he didn't want to do a fast song.  The sounds of a keyboard blared out of the speakers and Tyler started to sing.

There's somethin' I've got to say
You're always with me
Even though, you're far away
Talkin to you on my cell
Just the sound of your voice
Makes my heart melt
Oh girl, well it's true

I'm all about you
I'm all about us
No baby, you never
Have to question my love
And every night there's a new crowd
But it's always you I'm singing about
There is only one
These words are going out to
Oh girl, I'm all about you

He was looking right into my eyes, as he started the next verse.

I know you worry sometimes
Some other girl will
Make me forget you're mine
There's not a doubt in this world
That anyone could take
The place of my number one girl
It's true

I'm all about you
I'm all about us
No baby, you never
Have to question my love
And every night there's a new crowd
But it's always you I'm singing about
There is only one
These words are going out to
Oh girl, I'm all about you

When I close my eyes
I can see you
It's like you're right here
And this feeling's only getting stronger
You're with me everywhere

I'm all about you
I'm all about us
No baby, you never
Have to question my love
And every night there's a new crowd
But it's always you I'm singing about
There is only one
These words are going out to
Oh girl, I'm all about you

I'm all about you

As he finished the song, he mouthed I love you to me.  I did the same back.  I was on cloud nine.  He addressed my concerns that I was having earlier, through that song.  He knew it would get through to me.  The applause died down and the strumming of a guitar started through the auditorium.  His angelic voice took over, as he started into the song.

Of all the things I believe in
I just want to get it over with
tears from behind my eyes
But I do not cry
Counting the days that past me by

I've been searching deep down in my soul
Words that I'm hearing are starting to get old
Looks like I'm starting all over again
The last three years were just pretend and I say

Goodbye to you
Goodbye to everything I thought I knew
You were the one I love
The one thing that I tried to hold on to

I still get lost in your eyes
And it seems like I can't live a day without you
Closing my eyes till you chase my thoughts away
To a place where I am blinded by the light but it's not right

Goodbye to you
Goodbye to everything I thought I knew
You were the one I loved
The one thing that I tried to hold on to

Ohhh yeah
It hurts to want everything & nothing at the same time
I want whats yours and I want whats mine
I want you but I'm not giving in this time

Goodbye to you
Goodbye to everything I thought I knew
You were the one I loved
The one thing that I tried to hold on to
The one thing that I tried to hold on to

Goodbye to you
Goodbye to everything I thought I knew
You were the one I loved
The one thing that I tried to hold on to
But I fell out of love...with...you
I'm sorry

I could see tears in his eyes as the song ended.  The crowd roared, giving him his due for a great performance.  But to them, he just sang a great song.  I knew better.  He was singing that to Kai.  Sort of a goodbye, to their relationship.  It was heart breaking, but at the same time a relief to me.  Kai, is up now...

"All right folks, we've had an incredible night.  All of the students have come through, more than I could have hoped for.  Now, for our final performer.  Please give it up for Kai Kimbal!"

Kai came out on stage.  I was wondering if he knew that the last song Tyler did was to him.  I got my answer when I saw the red eyes.  He had been crying.  Some fast paced music started up and Kai put on a performance.  He held himself together and danced the crowd into a frenzy.  I'm not sure what songs he was singing in the medley, I was too focused on Kai himself.  After the music faded, more started up.  This time a much slower beat.  The program says it's called "With Him".

So you never meant to hurt nobody.
Well, I think you're full of it, yes,
Cause if you really really didn't wanna hurt nobody,
You wouldn't be with my best friend, baby.
And to bring insult to my injury,
You weren't a bit discreet,
And while the world stood witness,
To my embarassment.
You put a knife inside of me.

How could you fall in love with him?
How could you give your heart to him?
Thought we'd grow old, as lovers,
Together til the end.
How could you fall?
Fall in love, with him?

I know we've had our ups and downs,
And that I do admit, yes,
But sometimes lovers go astray,
But you made it permanent.
Well, I can't be that understanding, no.
My heart's just not that big, no it ain't.
I can take the pain of infidelity,
But I can't take you with him.

How could you fall in love with him?
How could you give your heart to him?
Thought we'd grow old, as lovers,
Together til the end.
How could you fall?
Fall in love, with him?

Thought we'd grow old, as lovers,
Together til the end.
How could you fall?
Fall in love, with him?

The tears were streaming freely down his face as the next song started.  I had tears in my eyes as well and I'm sure Tyler was a wreck backstage.  The soft sounds of a piano played and I immediately recognized the song.

Every now and then
We find a special friend
Who never lets us down
Who understands it all
Reaches out each time we fall
You're the best friend that I've found
I know you can't stay
A part of you will never go away
Your heart will stay

I'll make a wish for you
And hope it will come true
That life would just be kind
To such a gentle mind
If you lose your way
Think back on yesterday
Remember me this way
Remember me this way

I don't need eyes to see
The love you bring to me
No matter where I go
I know that you will be there
Forever more a part of me
you're everywhere
I'll always care

I'll make a wish for you
And hope it will come true
That life would just be kind
To such a gentle mind
If you lose your way
Think back on yesterday
Remember me this way
Remember me this way

And I'll be right behind your shoulder
watching you
I'll be standing by your side
and all you do
And I won't ever leave
As long as you believe
You just believe

I'll make a wish for you
And hope it will come true
That life would just be kind
To such a gentle mind
If you lose your way
Think back on yesterday
Remember me this way
Remember me this way

This Way...

He looked at me... with that look of no emotion in his eyes and said four parting words.  "You win... I lose."  He took a quick bow and exited the stage.  I don't like the implications of that song.  He was singing it partly to me, but there could be another meaning behind it.  The everyone came back out on stage for the final curtain call... except for Kai.  The crowd gave a standing ovation, then started to file out.  Tyler motioned for me to come up on stage.  I did, but not just to see Tyler.  "Hey, you were great baby.  I know this is coming out of nowhere, but where's Kai?"

"Kai?  Umm I don't know, I didn't even notice he was missing until you said something.  Why what's wrong?"

"Maybe nothing... Uh, I'll call you later ok?"

"Wait! I thought we could go out and celebrate..."

"Tyler, I would love to, but I have to do something, like right now.  I'll call you I promise."  He had a sad look on his face, so I looked around quickly, pulled him into a secluded part of the stage and gave him a passionate kiss.  "Cheer up, you're more attractive when you smile."  He forced a weak smile, then I turned and took off.  I made it to my car and saw a note on my windshield.  No, wait, two notes.  I picked up the first one.... written in red ink, like the one I got before.  It said : Rose are red, violets are blue, the games are almost done, then we're coming for you.
Great.  I guess Carla has gotten back to Sean.  I put the paper in my pocket, then picked up the other note.

Blade,

If you didn't figure it out, I sang that last song for a reason.  You're a smart guy, so I'm sure you know what's going to happen.  It sucks it has to be this way, but I can't change it.  You were like a brother to me and I guess deep down you still are.  My heart can't take this pain.  It's tearing me apart.  Don't come after me.  Remember the good times.  Tell Tyler I love him and take care of him, please.

Love,
Kai

I jumped in my car and peeled out of the parking lot.  Kai's going to kill himself.  Luckily, no cops were out, so I made it to his house in no time.  His car was there, but no one else was home.  It had started pouring, out of nowhere by this point.  I pounded on the door frantically.  No one answered.  I kept pounding and ringing the doorbell, but to no avail.  Please, God, don't let him be dead.  I walked around the side of the house and could see that the light was on in his room.  There was a big tree that lead right to the his window, so I didn't hesitate and climbed up it.  I looked through the window and saw Kai... sitting in a rocking chair.  There was a little stand next him.. with a picture of him and Tyler on it.  It looked like he was wearing head phones, but there was no movement coming from him at all.  I pushed the hair out of my eyes and tried to keep the rain from blinding me.  That's when I saw an empty medication bottle on the tray, next to the picture.  I went into complete hysterics and started banging on the window.

"Kai! Kai!!! God damn it, open the window.  Please!!!"  The tears poured down my face, as one thought ran through my mind.  I killed him.

Hey guys.  Well that was chapter six.  Hope you enjoyed it.  Suicide is a very serious subject.  If you know anyone who is depressed, or even jokes around about killing them self, please get them help.  Don't wait until it's too late.  On a lesser note, I used a lot of songs in this chapter.  I felt it was necessary to have the lyrics to some of them in the chapter, so you the readers would know why they were singing those particular songs.  The credit for those songs in the order that they appeared is below.

K-Ci & JoJo - How Long Must I Cry
Aaron Carter - I'm All About You
Michelle Branch - Goodbye To You (Which add a line too.)
Babyface - With Him (Changed one line)
Jordan Hill - Remember Me This Way

I really want to hear your thoughts on this chapter and I hope you come back next time to see what happens.  Thanks to everyone who has mailed me, I love hearing from you. E-Mail Me at: XvXJadenXvX@aol.com
