Chapter 8:

"So let me get this straight," Nick said as we packed my things after having just got done filming for the Late Show, "first he says his name is Jerry, then he lies to get to your album-launch party, and doesn't tell you that he had a flight the next morning?"

"Yeah," I said as I put on my jacket and sunglasses, "doesn't it sound like he wanted a one night stand?"

"Actually," he began as we exited the dressing room I had been given to use, "it sounds like he likes you."

"What?"

"Seriously," Nick continued as we approached the exit, stopping for a moment to finish our conversation, "you didn't know him at first and it hurt him so he told an insignificant lie. Then he wanted to make it up to you so he used his connections, whether they be old bf or not, to get into your party in hopes of apologizing and you fell asleep before he could tell you about his flight the next day. It sounds to me like it's just a whole bunch of misunderstandings that you're interpreting the wrong way."

I remained silent and mulled over what he was saying, I put on my sunglasses and we opened the doors simultaneously merely to be greeted by another crowd of fans being restrained by police and Jeff, who escorted us to the waiting limo.

As we got into the limo and sped off I realized that Nick was probably right. It was stupid of me to make something out of this.

"Well, let's get something to eat," I said, "after we ditch the limo that is..."

We were dropped off at the hotel and went up to my place for a while. I changed my clothes, grabbed my keys and was ready to leave when Nick interrupted me.

"You got messages..." he sighed as I stopped and went to answering machine, it flashed the number `6'. I just quickly scanned the Caller ID and headed back towards the door.

"No one important," I sighed.

I drove into one of the nearby malls and we got out.

"I thought we were going to eat," Nick grumbled as we climbed out of my car.

"Yeah, well, if I said I wanted to shop you would've ditched me..." I trailed off.

We headed into one of the fashion outlets and I poked around we left pretty soon, the store was pretty-much stuck in 1997 mode. Soon enough we were in the food court and went our separate ways and met up at the table previously chosen, luckily it was still empty when we got our stuff.

"When are you gonna call him?" Nick asked as he took a bite of his turkey sub.

"I dunno," I shrugged as I munched on my pepperoni pizza.

"You need to call him."

"I know." But I don't wanna. What am I gonna say? He's obviously picked up that I'm a bit upset or else he would've called by now, he's just giving me time to think.

I noticed a middle-aged African American woman with two children standing up while they ate, I looked around to notice all the tables were full now. I motioned for Nick to move and hollered for the woman to come take out place before someone else did. She smiled and thanked me twice. I dropped my napkin and when I bent over to get it my sunglasses fell off. The woman bent down to get them for me and when she saw me without my sunglasses she nearly screamed.

"Please, please don't say anything until we finish our food..." I pleaded as I finished the crust of my pizza and Nick tried to wolf down the rest of his sub.

"Ok, thank you so much, but can I have an autograph?" she smiled. I signed a napkin and we left before anything else could happen.

I dropped Nick off at his place before going home. When I got there I noticed that the answering machine now flashed `8' and again checked the caller ID. I got another call from my mom and one from JC! I noticed he didn't call very long ago and quickly punched his cell number, which was what was displayed so I figured he was on the tour bus.

"Yeah?" I heard someone else's voice.

"Um, Justin?" I asked.

"No..." the other man trailed off, "why would you want Justin on JC's phone?"

"Hi, this is Mike, could you give the phone to JC?"

"Um, ok, Mike, hold on..." obviously whoever it was didn't know who I was.

"Mike?" Josh said as I heard the other man tell him who it was, "what'd ya call me for?" he was trying to be funny.

"You called me according to my Caller ID," I answered.

"Oh, but did you check my message?"

"Not yet."

"Where were you?"

"At the mall with Nick..."

"Oh, well listen," he was now being very quiet. "I was alone when I called, I wanted to talk, but now the guys are here...and...well...well, they don't know yet."

"No one knows about us except Nick," I replied, "he saw us coming out of the club after the album-launch party."

"No, not that..." JC continued to whisper, "they don't know about me..."

WHAT? He was still in the closet to his own bandmates? How does he expect us to have a relationship when his closest friends don't even know? Granted, we have to be careful about this since we're celebs, but these guys aren't that dumb! How are we gonna have a relationship when we can't be honest around them? Does anyone know about him?

"Who does know?" I asked.

"Only Justin and my mom..." he replied sheepishly.

"Ok... um, what did you want?"

"To talk...about us...but I can't now, I'm sorry, I'll call you later...bye!" he said the bye at a normal tone.

Ugh... I have this bad feeling that things are about to get a lot more complicated...

Come back soon for Chapter 9, RBD :)
