My Blonde Brad - Chapter 06
======================

I woke up feeling cold. I found Brad lying next to me wrapped in my blanket like a mummy. I blinked sleepily thinking about what had happened last night until I was distracted by the annoying beeping of my cell phone. I didn't want to get out of bed. I tried to close my eyes and go back to sleep, but I couldn't. I reached for the cell phone and switched off the alarm. I got out of the bed as quietly as I possibly could and stood there taking a couple of moments to look at the bundled up Brad. It was funny. I don't understand how he can sleep like that, all wrapped up with even his head covered inside the blanket. I smiled to myself, collected my clothes and left the room closing the door behind me.

I brushed as I went through the events from the previous night. I do a lot of my analysis in front of a mirror. It is like talking with my alter ego. I asked the questions to the guy in the mirror and he responded and vice versa. Sometimes it is easy to talk to yourself. You know what I mean? Especially about subjects too private and personal that you cannot or cannot yet discuss with anyone else. Several years ago I had spent considerable hours standing in front of the mirror trying to figure out my sexuality. It sounds funny now but those were painful times.

"What are you doing?" he appeared out of nowhere.

"Brushing" I said as a matter-of-factly.

"Not that you doofus. Last night. You slept with him."

"I didn't sleep with him. Doofus. We just slept in the same bed."

"The same thing...So you are what going out with him now?"

"I donno."

"A-N-A-N-D"

"I don't know what he wants. He said he likes spending time with me...being with me."

"That could mean a lot of different things. Also I didn't hear him say he loves you."

"But we kissed..."

"Don't forget he was very confused."

"He didn't seem to be after that. And he was so sweet."

"So was Ed..."

I had no answer.

"And you don't even know if he is gay or straight. Even he doesn't know. But he is better looking than anyone you've ever dated. And that body..."

"I am starting to like him...I think"

"I am warning you. You're setting yourself up for heart break."

He disappeared. It was frustrating. The only decision that came out of the meeting was to postpone the analysis for later. I sighed and got under the shower.

"He doesn't know where things are. Maybe I should leave him notes with directions." I thought to myself as I was finishing my breakfast of toast and orange juice.

I grabbed a post-it and started leaving a trail of notes starting from the bedroom to the bathroom to the kitchen and to the living room. I made sure he knew where to find a new toothbrush, towel, breakfast cereal, his potpies and burgers, bowls, glasses and spoons. I left him Jason's keys to the apartment on the coffee table. I also wrote him a tiny letter requesting him to lockup when he left and return the keys when we met later that day.

I was cheerful all day and work was a breeze. I was thinking about taking the last two weeks of the year off from work. I was not that desperately in need of money. I had enough money for the rent, utilities and food for the next two months and my savings for my first trip back home after graduation was not that bad either. I had taken into consideration the gifts you have to take for your family and friends too. With some smart planning and sharing the expenses with my brother, I would have enough money for the vacation.

This thought of a taking time off from work was in stark contrast to what I felt Sunday evening. I wanted to get back to work more than anything, so that I could have some people around me. So may be having sufficient funds was not the only factor. I would have continued working if I were alone. Now I had Brad and was enjoying my time with him and the more time I spent with him, the more I wanted to be around him.

"You seem to be in a good mood." Lori asked during our break.

"What do you mean?" I said smiling back at her.

"You're smiling"

"I am always smiling"

"You're smiling more than usual. There is something...a new guy?"

I told her. She is not from the school and does not know about my classmates. So to her, Brad was just another good-looking guy. She was happy for me and also encouraged me to be open to possibilities and see how far it could go.

Talking with Lori left me thinking. I thought if there were so many gay-friendly people, why is it still so hard to be out in the society. Take for example Jason, Lei, Kevin, Lori and so many of my other friends. Especially my brother who did not even know what `gay' was until I came out to him. Well almost. Then I thought about Brad of the past and his buddies. Luckily the situation seems to be poised to get better. May be it will take a couple of generations, but it looks possible. There is better awareness and understanding compared to even five years ago.

I couldn't wait for 7 pm. Brad had promised to pick me up, but when the time came, he was not there. Now there are two possibilities. He is late as usual or he realized what he did last night and is washing the gay-dirt off his skin. I must admit I was a little disappointed that he didn't show up. As I was not sure if he was going to show up, I didn't want to wait so I started walking towards home.

I was debating what could have happened to him and if I should call him and wishing he had at least locked up the apartment before leaving when a red mustang came to a screeching halt on the other side of the street. The window opened and Brad's head popped out.

"Andy..." he yelled and waved at me.

"Hey..." I mumbled to myself with a smile and waved back at him as I crossed the street. I was glad that he had not gone "straight" again.

"Hey buddy, "Sorry I am late."

"That's alright."

"Hop in"

"I didn't know you drove a mustang."

"Yea...she's a beauty. My parents gifted it for my 21st birthday." He said starting to drive towards the apartment.

"Lucky you"

"Yea...lucky me" he arched his eyebrows and looked away.

"When is your birthday?" I changed the subject.

"First of August"

"Cool. That's easy to remember. We should celebrate it next year. If we are still friends..."

He looked at me gave me a smile. "And hey, before I forget, those notes were real cute."

"Thanks." Did the boy just say "cute"?

"You are a good guy Roman."

"Don't call me Roman."

"Why not?"

"That's my last name. I prefer Anand"

I spent a couple of minutes teaching him how to pronounce it properly.

"It'll need practice. So...Dinner, Anand?"

"Umm. Sure."

"Outback?"

"Steak?"

"Oh sorry...where then?"

"Why don't we cook something at home? We'll go out on Friday may be."

"Sounds OK to me, but I can't cook."

"Then I will. What do you like?"

"Meat balls." He grinned.

"I should have known."

We got home. I found chicken in the freezer. I decided to broil it and serve it with mashed potatoes and sautéed baby carrots. I decided to replace the chicken with roti and sabji for my own dinner. I prepared the chicken and put it inside the oven.

"I didn't know you could cook meat." Brad said standing at the kitchen entrance, leaning against the wall.

"Why not?"

"'Cos you don't eat it."

"Yes, but my dad and brother eat meat and..."

"So it's only the women folk who don't eat meat" he said with a wicked grin.

I pursed my lips and gave him a nasty look. "What I meant is they do cook meat at home. It's not like I've never seen all this before."

"Works out well for me. I love this, you know? Standing like this and talking to you while you cook for me..."

I smiled to myself. "I would love it too, you know, if you were cooking and I were standing and talking..."

"Oh! I am so sorry. How can I help?" he grabbed a knife and dug into the vegetable basket.

"What are you making?" It was funny. He assumed I was serious.

"I don't know...What you want?" he said still selecting vegetables.

"The first thing I want you to do is put the bread knife down and then I want to you to go back to your place and continue talking." I said trying not to smile too much.

"No, I want to cook tonight." He insisted.

"May be some other time, Brady" I physically had to push him back to his old position.

"Ok. But I am cooking you something this weekend. OK? I think I'll like it."

"You never did this with your girl friends?" I asked as casually I could.

He became quiet. I looked up at him. "Never had a girl friend."

"You are kidding. Have you ever looked at yourself in the mirror?" I was honestly surprised.

"They are just friends. That's all."

"So what do your friends think of us hanging out together?"

He went silent again. "I am sorry I gave you such a hard time" he said after a brief moment of silence. I understood that it meant his so called friends were doing similar things he did to me in the past.

I smiled at him. "You don't have to apologize. I've forgotten all that. You think I'll be cooking for you if I hated you?"

"Guess not. So you mean you like me..." he seemed to get a lot of fun out of teasing me.

"Don't feed me words Mr."

"C'mon you said it last night."

"I have to go shower. Watch the oven, would you?" I tried to escape out of the kitchen.

"I am not letting you go Mr." he grabbed me and pinned me to the wall. These were times when he seemed to be in far better control of the situation than me. I always became nervous when he was so close to me.

"Tell me" he whispered

I looked into his eyes. "Yes"

"Yes what?"

"I like you."

"Now give me a kiss and I'll let you go." He was back to being playful.

"You are getting awfully good at this aren't you?"

"I am the best." He was waiting.

I reached up to his lips slowly and he suddenly moved his face away.

"Ok, I am not playing this game now." I was disappointed and struggled to get out of his grip.

He pressed more closely against me and planted one of those heavenly kisses.

"Now go shower." So I did while he made himself comfortable in front of the television.

We sat down for dinner around 9. We ate and watched 'Brokeback Mountain'. We sat next to each other on the floor leaning against the couch, just the way he likes it. We sat close to each other and watched mostly in silence. When the movie ended, I moved to the couch. He was still sitting on the floor staring at the television.

"I hate sad endings." He declared.

"Unfortunately that's how it is in real life too. If at all one succeeds in finding true love."

"I am sure there are some with a happy ending." He turned his face to look at me.

I looked at him. He gazed at me for a few seconds and then moved closer. A chill spread across my body and my breath had already become shallow. He moved closer and took my hand in his. He put his other hand behind my head and pulled me slowly towards him. He gave me goose bumps every time he did that. I inhaled deeply until his lips touched mine.

I closed my eyes. Darn, it felt so good, every time he did that. The slow manner in which he approached me, the gentle way he started the kiss only made it better. He moved in closer and put both his arms around me and pulled me closer. I parted my lips allowing his tongue to enter my mouth. It started slowly gaining passion pretty soon. He pulled away gently and looked into my eyes.

"You're awesome." He said

We sat there looking into each other's eyes for a couple of minutes.

"I think it's time for you to go to bed Roman...sorry. Anand" I think my eyes were showing signs of sleepiness.

"You say sorry a lot."

"Oh! Really? Sorry"

He thinks he is very funny.

So he slept in my bed again, in just his boxers. I had to make a decision. I cannot be a cat on the wall. I either must trust Brad and accept his love or save myself from getting hurt again. Am I ready to take the risk of falling in love again? Can I ever be sure that love will not lead to heartbreak? Isn't Brad the most risky person to be falling in love with? Will he ever be able to accept his sexuality? What's the chance that he won't go back to women? Phew, there were only questions and no answers.

The only question I could answer was "Do you want this to end?" And of course the answer was no. "Go with your heart", I remembered Lori's words. I decided to go with him. I snuggled in and fell asleep.

The next two days passed away similarly. We had dinner together and watched movies and chatted and kissed and slept together. He left in the morning to his dorm room to work out, shower and change clothes and returned in the evening to pick me up from work. My time with him had become much more enjoyable. He was more comfortable than me with whatever was happening, and made me comfortable too.

It was Friday. He was late as usual. I am a little fussy about such things, but I had already accepted it as one of the many things I have to get used to. He picked me up and we reached my apartment. He was dressed in a beautiful white A&F shirt with vertical blue stripes, untucked, sleeves folded up half way through and dark blue jeans. His body is so perfect that he looks great in anything.

"Go shower." He commanded as I stood admiring him when he took off his jacket.

"What's the rush? It's Friday." I cooed.

"I want to go out somewhere tonight. And it's 7.30 already" He almost pushed me into the bathroom. I returned 30 minutes later dressed in a dark blue t-shirt and jeans. He was sitting at the dining table.

"Why are you sitting here?"

"You look great." He complimented.

"Not as great as you."

"Thanks. Let's go."

"Why are you rushing me Taylor?"

"Nothing, I don't want us to be late. That's all."

"Late to what?"

"Our date" he said slowly looking down at the floor.

"Our DATE?"

"Yea" he smiled. "You don't like?" he asked suddenly worried.

"No silly." I was grinning from ear to ear. I couldn't stop myself from putting my arms around him and giving him a big hug.

"Sorry, I didn't get you a corsage." He grinned.

"Well, you can compensate for it later tonight." The words escaped from my lips without my permission. I bit my lips unsure what his reaction would be.

"We have a long evening to go before we get there. Let's go now." He handed me my jacket before getting own and dragged me out of the apartment.

He drove me to a lovely little Indian restaurant downtown. We got seated in a quiet corner. He was silent and didn't look like he was going to talk.

"I am surprised you chose this place." I started.

"I am starting to like Indian...umm...stuff lately." He smiled.

"Are you flirting with me?" I made a serious face.

"I am trying my luck..."

Have I told you he is a real charmer? I had built a protective wall between us for so long and in the last couple of days he had succeeded in breaking in. The maitre d' arrived and handed us the menu.

"OK, I need help." Brad said after perusing the menu for a few minutes.

"I glad you finally realize that." I teased him.

"With the menu, smarty pants."

"Ok. Ok. We are not getting into a fight now. How spicy can you take it?"

"How spicy is mild in Indian cuisine?"

"Good question. Well. Let's get something that is not too spicy or too hot. What do you feel like having, lamb, chicken or fish?"

"I think I'll have something vegetarian."

"Are you sure?" I looked up at him over the menu card. He nodded his head and smiled.

"One of these...payluck panere, mutter panere, baingun bertha, damn alu.."

"You didn't tell me you spoke Tarzan's language."

"Very funny Mr. Pick one. Right now."

"Ok. Ok. Sorry. How about Mutter paneer or Aloo methi?"

"Huh?"

"Peas and cheese or Potatoes cooked with fenugreek"

"Hmm. The mutter thing..."

"Mutter paneer?" Oh listening to him trying to speak Indian was more fun than watching Comedy Central.

"Yea, peas and cheese. That sounds cool. I'll go with it."

So we ordered a couple of different dishes with rotis and rice. We finished with some delicious basundi, a dessert made of condensed milk, pistachios, almonds and cashews fried in butter. Yum. Dinner was lovely. Despite my pleas to go dutch, Brad paid for it and did not even let me see the check.

"Feel like watching a movie?" He asked putting the napking away.

"Umm, yea, sure." We had watched so many movies together this week, but I hated the evening to end so soon, so readily agreed.

"What do you feel like watching?"

"Anything is fine" I had let go of the worries, concerns and doubts and now I loved every moment with him.

I offered to buy the tickets but he didn't take it. There were not too many people and we took the seats in the last row. We watched the movie eating popcorn, sipping our sodas, stealing glances at each other and smiling. When we arrived back home, it was well past midnight. Brad pulled in front of my apartment.

"I had a wonderful time." He said smiling and still holding onto the steering.

"Aren't you coming in?" I asked.

"If you want me to", he said a little hesitantly.

I thought he still remembered my words about compensating for the corsage thing earlier. I also thought he was uncomfortable with what he thought would be the next thing we might do. I also thought that he was either embarrassed or even scared about "sleeping with men", though he seems to have taken a liking to "kissing boys", or "kissing a boy" in his case. I also thought I had to take the first step or else we were going to go without. Hehe. The proof was that we have been sleeping on the same bed for 4 nights and nothing more than mere kissing had happened. I should admit though, that we both have been getting more comfortable and passionate with time.

"We'll do our usual thing." I said massaging his shoulder. "You don't have to if you don't want to." I was, of course, not going to force him to do anything that he didn't want to.

He parked the car and got out with me.

"Do you want anything?" I asked as we entered the apartment and I locked the door behind him and put our jackets away.

"No. Thanks." He stood waiting nervously like a kid.

"I had fun tonight." I put my arms around him and gave him a smile. "Let's go to bed." I took his arm and led him to the bedroom.

"You know...I've been thinking..." he said

"Hmm. What?"

"About...umm...compensating for the corsage."

Now it was me who was starting to get nervous. He put his left arm around my waist pulled me closer to him. He smelled so good. He gently ran his finger over my lips. I loved his foreplay before the kiss. The anticipation and the excitement that it built only increased when it finally culminated in the kiss.

I put my arms around him. Our eyes closed naturally and we kissed gently and hesitantly as if this was our first kiss. We pulled each other as close as possible as our tongues dueled passionately.

I started to unbutton his shirt. He stopped kissing and looked at me. I stopped what I was doing and looked at him. He smiled nervously and his body language said he wanted me to go ahead. I pushed him gently towards the bed and once he sat down I continued to unbutton his shirt. He raised his hands to allow me to take off his under-shirt. I kneeled and unbuckled his belt. I looked up at him to see if he was comfortable and I couldn't say much, but he did not stop me. So I continued and pulled his pants down.

I was still kneeling in front of him. I looked back into his eyes. I took his hand in mine and started to slowly kiss his fingers one by one. I moved onto his palm, kissing it gently and sometimes only brushing my lips against his skin. I slowly made my way up to his lips. I was almost straddling him on his lap. I used his technique of rubbing my nose against his and teased him by denying the kiss.

His eyes were closed and he was trying to find my lips. I had one arm around his neck and I used the other one to play with his nipples. Every time I pinched them gently, he let out a moan of pleasure. I finally pressed my lips against his, kissing it in short soft installments.

I shifted my attention now to his ears, using my tongue to cause little tickling circles. I blew warm air as I sucked on the area under his ear and pushed my face against the soft area between the ear and neck with my nose.

I urged him to move back and lie down. I quickly stripped off my shirt and jeans and got into bed and straddled him.

"Relax OK? You can stop me anytime." I whispered into his ears.

I started again with a deep passionate kiss. I kissed my way down slowly to his neck. I could feel him twitch and buck as my lips grazed against those hard nipples.

"Oh! That feels so good." He moaned.

He put his hands on my head and ran his fingers through my hair. I moved down through his beautiful abs to his waistband. I could feel the heat of his body and smell his masculinity.

I slid my fingers under his waistband and pulled his underwear down as he lifted himself up a little. He tried to pull me in for another kiss.

"Relax and don't worry about me tonight." I gently pushed his hands away.

I inhaled deeply and began. He let out a gasp and grabbed by hair. I looked up and found him arched back and totally lost in a different world. His breath had become ragged and he had totally forgotten the English language. All that came out of his mouth were unintelligible words but they all conveyed the pleasure. I got back to the task at hand and used all my skills to pleasure him. His soft moans became more frequent and louder with time until he came.

I pulled myself up to his face and he gave me a deep kiss with his eyes still closed.

"That was...that was..." he was searching for words.

"I know" he looked so beautiful in the dark room with the light coming only from the bright moon shining through the window. How did I ever hate this guy!

"Good night" I whispered into his ears and pulled the blanket over us.

"Night" He said pulling me close to him and kissing me again and we both drifted off into a blissful sleep.

The sun was above our head when we woke up in each other's arms. I propped myself on my elbow and looked into his beautiful blue eyes. He smiled sleepily.

"This is the best date I've ever had?" I said.

"Give me a kiss." He demanded.

I leaned in and gave him a peck on his lips. He pulled me closer and kissed me deeply. I ran my hand over his bare tight torso, which I don't know how, reached down further south. Slowly my mouth followed my hand stopping at his ears, neck, nipples, stomach and you-know-what. That was the beginning of another session of lovemaking.

"You are fucking great." He said as I pulled myself up to his lips for the kiss. "Oops. Sorry" he apologized realizing that he had used the F-word.

I chuckled at his innocence. "That language is OK in the bedroom big boy".

"Big boy?"

"Yea, I named it." I laughed now.

He didn't get it for a moment, but his face went beet red when he realized what I meant.

"You are not so innocent in the bedroom mister." He wrestled me down and got on top of me. I fought wildly to free myself from his grip, but I was under a 200-pound quarterback. He quickly had me pinned down and looked into my eyes. I knew this was a prelude to one of his heavenly kisses.

"I've seen only half of your skills and I already know you're great at this." He said.

So he wanted to see the other half too. I rolled my eyes and grinned.

"And you are beautiful." He leaned in and kissed me.

"What do you want to do today?"

"Just stay in bed. Be with you"

"All day? We need food. We need a shower first."

I dragged him into the bathroom for another treat. I think we were under the shower for close to an hour, kissing and soaping each other under the steady shower of hot water. He didn't have his clothes, so he just got dressed in his under-shirt and boxers. He looked so adorable. One hundred percent husband material. We ate leftovers and settled down in the living room.

"Do you want to watch a Hindi movie? I asked him.

"If you'll interpret for me." he agreed.

I picked Abhimaan, because that was one of my favorite movies and it had English subtitles. I got the DVD, put it in, pulled the shades down and settled down on the couch with cookies.

"So is this like your favorite movie"

"One of them yea...There are a bunch of them."

"What's the story of this one?" he asked.

"Umm. The hero is a playback singer in Bollywood..."

"Bollywood?"

"Yea, the Indian Hollywood. It makes more movies in a year than any other country."

"Really?"

"Yea, any who, he visits his aunt in the village and hears a girl singing. He falls in love with her and then they get married. They are married in real life too."

"There is love marriage in India?"

"Yes silly. He then persuades her to playback in the movies and she agrees. As time passes, she becomes more popular than him and now he gets jealous. The end is about how they get back together."

"A happy ending?"

"Why don't we watch it and find out?"

"OK" he stretched himself on the couch and put his head on my lap. "Do you mind?" he asked like a kid.

I smiled at him and shook my head "No."

"Run you fingers through my hair."

"You're pretty demanding aren't you?"

"Please" he looked cute.

So I did. As the movie progressed he discovered that Indian movies usually have 5 to 6 songs mostly with dances. The songs are a part of and a continuation of the story thus far.

"Why do Indian movies have so many songs?"

"Because they are the modern version of the ancient folk plays. In those times, stories and legends were enacted mostly by dance with songs."

"How ancient?"

"I donno. 3000 years at least."

"Get out of here." he was amazed.

"Yea. So we are used to having songs and dances in our movies. Even our real lives have a lot of occasions where we sing and dance - not like in the movies though."

We had missed quite a bit of the movie in this literary discussion. I didn't mind as I had watched this movie like over 50 times. My favorite song in the movie came up.

"Listen to this. They are both singing for their guests in their wedding reception. The couple has this private gesture, where he puts his finger to his lips to mean a kiss. And he does that so many times in front of the guests to tease his wife. Isn't that sweet?"

"I guess"

We became silent after that. I was laughing and crying with the characters as they went through their reel-life and the music and songs expressed the mood beautifully. The movie ended with the couple reconciling their misunderstanding and getting back together, much to Brad's liking.

"Ouch...my leg" I tried to lift Brad's head off my lap which had gone to sleep now. "You are so heavy. Did you know that?"

"Sorry." He pulled my leg out and started rubbing it. "Promise me we will always talk things out."

"What?"

"When we have a disagreement or something. I don't want to loose you...like that guy in the movie."

"I promise." I was a little overwhelmed.

Andy

First of all I apologize for the long gap. Work and school has become so much more demanding in the last one month that I just couldn't spend enough time writing this. But the good news is one more month and I will graduate. Then I should have more time to write. Also I wrote and rewrote this chaptar so many times. It could still be better I think.

Thank you for all the emails. I also apologize if I haven't written back yet. I hope to get to my emails soon.
