Misery 7 by: Chip Dyp (chipdyp@hotmail.com)

I moaned quietly, and gently caressed Scott's back. He whimpered quietly and clung to me even tighter. It was so nice to have him lying in bed with me.

There was an abrupt knocking on the guest bedroom door. I groaned and slid out of Scott's embrace. He curled up with the blanket, and mumbled something. I ignored him for a second and opened the door a crack. "Yes?"

"Mitchel, is Scott in there?" It was my dad. He didn't look very happy.

"Yeah, he's here."

"Wake him up. Now."

"Okay." I remembered Scott's concerns about the photos from that run in with the hooker. Had Dad already heard about them? "He needs to talk to you about something."

"Yes, he does. Hurry now."

I closed the door and walked back to the bed. Scott looked so beautiful lying there, but he needed to get up. Dad hadn't sounded very pleased. Gently, I shook his shoulder. Scott's eyes blinked a couple times, and then opened wide. "Mmmm. Morning."

"Morning yourself, beautiful." I smiled. "We have to go talk to my dad."

"Is he here?"

I nodded and pulled the covers back. Scott shivered and groaned. I smiled as I stared at his beautiful bare chest. God, I wanted to make love to him again, right there. To hell with my dad, to hell with everything else - I wanted Scott.

"C'mon babe. It's time to wake up."

"Mmmm, babe? I like that."

"You like that?" I asked, slyly.

"I like that."

"I like it too. But, it's time to get up. We need to see what Dad wants."

"I suppose I should pull on some clothes?" Scott asked with a wink.

"Nah, I like ya nekkid." We both giggled a bit. "Are you sore this morning?"

"You mean from..." Scott raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah, from, um...last night."

"Nope. You were so gentle when you took my virginity. I loved it."

"Well, you'll have to be gentle when you take mine."

"Really? You mean..."

I took Scott's hand and helped him off the bed. "Who else would I give my virginity to, besides my boyfriend? If you'll have me."

"If I'll have you? Is there any doubt?"

"I just..."

Scott put his lips to mine and kissed me gently to silence me. "I want to be your boyfriend, and I'm not going to let anything come between us."

"I love you, Scott."

"I love you too, Mitchel."

Scott kissed me again. I could feel his body pressed against mine, and I could feel our rising excitement. It took all my control to break the kiss and say, "I better go and see what Dad wants. Maybe I should leave you alone to get dressed."

"All right."

I slipped out of the bedroom and walked over to where Dad was sitting in the living room. He glanced up at me and pointed to a chair. "Sit."

"Something wrong, Dad?"

"I have been very supportive of you Mitchel. When I found out you were gay and confronted you on it, we had a heart to heart talk. Do you remember what I said?"

"Yeah, you told me you loved me, and that you'd be proud of me, no matter what."

"And what else did I tell you?"

"That I didn't have to hide my boyfriends, and that you'd love him like you love me."

"I also told you that if you are going to have sex, I wanted you to have safe sex. I told you that if you have sex you have to use condoms. I don't want to lose you to AIDS, or anything else that may come along. Did you and Scott use condoms last night when you had sex?"

"How do you know we had sex?" I asked. I paused when Scott walked out of the bedroom.

"Scott, have a seat. Now that you are both there, I can show you what was on the news."

"Yes, sir." Scott said quietly, sitting in the chair across from me.

We both stared at the screen as my dad pressed play on the remote. The screen went blue for a second and then the opening credits for Enquirer TV came on. I stared at the screen, my mouth wide open as the announcer read the headlines. There was a blurb about a boy band star being gay, and a couple of bizarre stories, but it didn't seem to be that bad. When the anchor began reading their lead story off the teleprompter, I realized how bad things truly were. The story was about Scott. And me! We sat watching as a grainy tape of Scott and I having sex in the guest room was played. I looked over at Scott and he looked so terrified. There were tears running down his face as the anchor kept talking. There were a few stills of Scott with another guy, which I assumed were from the sting that he had dodged.

When the pictures came up he glanced over at me and then looked away. I got out of the chair and walked over to Scott. I knew nothing had happened between him and the very handsome boy he had been kissing. I sat down on the arm of the chair and pulled him close to me.

"I'm sorry," He whispered as continued crying into my chest.

"It's all right, baby. It's all right."

"But..."

"Shhhh," I interrupted, "I love you, Scott. Those pictures won't change that."

I watched as my son held onto the boy he loved. I was disappointed in both of them, but I knew that they'd need my support soon. Part of me hoped the Mitchel would go easy on Scott, the other part of me hoped that he'd punish Scott for being with a prostitute.

When the story about Scott and Mitchel ended, I stopped the tape and turned off the TV. The media firestorm that the sex tape set had just set off was going to grow very quickly. In 30 minutes, CNN, MTV and all the major networks would have the story and the tape. In 60 minutes, Capitol Records and the Moffats would be getting thousands of phone calls.

Scott was still crying in Mitchel's arms. When Mitchel looked back at me I could see that he had tears in his eyes. I stood up and walked over to the boys.

"Scott, we're going to have to get you back to the hotel, as discreetly as possible. We need to figure out what we're going to do."

"I'll drive him back to the hotel."

"Mitchel, any reporter with half a brain will have your plate number. The press jackals are going to have people outside the gates within fifteen minutes. Plus, if the press sees you and Scott together, they'll just add to the story."

"But, Dad..."

"Mitchel, you have to trust me. This is gonna get blown all out of proportion. This seems to be the big news story today."

"Do I have to go back to the hotel?" Scott asked plaintively. "My dad... He'll have seen the tape. I... I don't know what he'll do when he sees me."

"Can you send someone with him, Dad? If I can't go with him, you'll have to send someone to be with him and protect him from his dad."

"I already thought of that, Mitchel. He should be arriving right away."

"Who should?"

"Remember Mr. McGregor's son Justin? I asked him to come over."

"He'll be good." Ian looked at Scott and squeezed his shoulder. "Justin is a really nice guy. And big."

"How big?"

"He's a linebacker for the USC Spartans. He'll protect you," Mitchel said.

"Is he...I mean, will he be all right with me being gay?" Scott asked quietly. He looked from Mitchel to me, looking for an answer.

"It won't be a problem, Scott." I said brushing his brown hair out of his bloodshot eyes. "Why don't you go get cleaned up, and I'll make a little breakfast, all right?"

Both Scott and Mitchel nodded before standing. Mitchel had his arm protectively around Scott as they started back towards the bedrooms. Before they were too far, I was in the kitchen preparing a breakfast fit for a pair of princes. They would need their strength. It was going to be a long day.

I sat on the bed while I listened to the shower run. Scott needed a shower more than I did. I had all day to get cleaned up. My dad was, of course, right about not letting me take Scott back to the hotel. The press were animals, always poking their lenses where they didn't belong.

As I sat on the bed, I heard Scott begin crying again. It was a little quieter this time, but it still tugged at my heart. I stood, let my robe fall from my shoulders and walked over to the bathroom. The door was open a crack. When I pushed it open a little more, the volume of Scott's sobs increased.

I could see Scott's faint outline on the shower curtain. He was bent over with his head resting on his arm against the wall. I walked over to the shower and pulled back the curtain. Scott barely noticed as I joined him in the shower. I wrapped my arm around his waist and rested my head on his shoulder. The warm water ran down our bodies, washing away the sweat and the evidence of our activities of the previous night.

"I'm so sorry, Mitchel. I never meant..."

I squeezed Scott's waist a little tighter and said, "I know. I wish I could go with you today, but my dad's right. No sense in adding more fuel to the fire."

Scott didn't say anything for the longest time. I let go of his waist and grabbed the body wash and the sponge of the shelf. Slowly, I soaped up his back and his legs, massaging him as I cleaned his beautiful body. When I got to his butt, I added a little more soap to the sponge and washed his cheeks. When they were clean, I kneeled on the floor of the shower and gently pried open his cheeks. His formerly virgin hole was a little red and puffy, and Scott groaned as I soaped up my finger and eased it in. I swirled my finger around, trying to clean out all the semen and lube that remained after our night of passion.

When I finished, I turned Scott around and cleaned the front of his body as thoroughly as I had cleaned his back. When I finished, Scott hugged me tightly and whispered, "I love you," in my ear.

"I love you too," I whispered, hugging him tightly. "We'd better go get some breakfast into you before you go back to the hotel."

Scott nodded and stepped out of the shower. Quickly, I finished washing up and stepped out, as Scott finished brushing his hair. Together, we finished getting ready to face the world. Neither of us said a word to each other in the bedroom. Scott looked so deep in thought that I didn't want to disturb him. When he finished, he walked out into the bedroom and started pulling on his dirty clothes.

"Hey, Scott. Wait a second." I stepped out into the bedroom and pulled a pair of briefs out of the drawer. "There's no point in putting on your dirty clothes. You can borrow some of mine."

"Are you sure?"

"Of course I'm sure. You're my boyfriend. You can borrow anything you want."

"Thanks."

"Not a problem."

I walked back to the bathroom and finished getting ready. When I finished, I ducked back into the bedroom and grabbed some clothes for myself. Scott had grabbed a pair of burgundy cords and a white shirt. He looked so much better in my clothes than I did.

"Are you sure you don't mind me borrowing these?" Scott asked.

"I'm sure."

I grabbed a pair of jeans and a black t-shirt from the drawer. Scott watched as I began dressing myself. He looked like he was developing a bit of a bulge as I pulled up a pair of bikini briefs. I quickly grabbed my t-shirt and smiled at Scott. "Come on, we should go eat."

Scott nodded and tried to smile for me. I smiled back at him and took his hand. Together we walked down the hallway to the kitchen where my dad was waiting.

"I really appreciate you doing this for me, Justin," Mr, Sutherland said as he fried up a big pan full of scrambled eggs.

"It's not a problem. I'm more than happy to help you out. I owe you." I buttered a couple of slices of toast that had just popped. I tossed another couple slices of white bread into the machine and pushed down the handle. "So, who am I supposed to be watching anyway?"

"Have you ever heard of the Moffats?"

"Yeah, my girlfriend likes them."

"You're gonna be taking care of Scott Moffat."

"Whoa. I don't know if I'm cut out to protect someone from a pack of screaming girls. Don't you think you should hire regular security?"

"You don't have to protect him from the raving hordes of screaming girls. He was outted on Enquirer TV earlier this morning, and he's worried about what his dad will do."

"So, I'm protecting Scott from his father? How did you get involved?"

"Mitchel is Scott's boyfriend."

"Oh. Lucky devil. Shouldn't be a problem."

"Smells great, Dad," Mitchel said as he walked into the kitchen. He was holding another boy's hand, rather protectively.

I got up and walked over to the two guys. I hugged Mitchel. "Long time, no see little man. Glad to see you've finally found a boyfriend." I turned to Scott and shook his hand firmly. "Pleased to meet you Scott. My name is Justin and I'm going to make sure that you stay safe."

"Thank you," Scott said quietly. "Has Mr. Sutherland told you about my dad yet?"

"He's told me a little. Why don't you tell me what you think I should watch out for?"

For the next hour, Scott and I talked while the four of us ate. Mitchel stayed very quiet, listening as Scott told me about his dad. I could see that he was trying to be strong for Scott. I also knew that if my girlfriend told me that her dad had done some of the things Scott's dad had done, he'd regret it.

As we finished up, the phone rang. Mr. Sutherland went over to the phone and answered it. He only said a few words, and looked over at Scott on occasion. When he hung up, he came over to the table and looked at us all.

"All right. That was my office. There's a lot of press outside the gate, and a bunch at the front door of the hotel. Mitchel, I'm going to lend your Porsche to one of my assistants and have him drive directly to the hotel. We're going to make it look like you and Scott are in the car. He'll drive by the hotel, and then go to my office. He'll bring your car back here later."

"Who's his passenger going to be?" Mitchel asked, tilting his head.

"My secretary grabbed a couple of guys from the mailroom that look a lot like Scott. She's gonna drop them off here."

"Oh, okay."

"We're gonna have them bending over and covered with a coat so no one knows who they are."

"Them?" I asked.

"I'm going to be taking one with me. I'm going to be going directly to my office. As we planned before, Scott is going to ride with you Justin. Is your trunk clean?"

"My trunk? Yeah it's clean, but is that safe?"

"Your backseat folds down, right?"

"Well, yeah. Oh, so after we've cleared the gate, Scott will get into the backseat."

"That's right. Is that all right with you Scott?"

"Yeah, that's all right."

When the doorbell rang, Mr. Sutherland got up and answered it. He got me to drive my car into the garage and we loaded up our passengers. The fake Mitchel and the Porsche took off first. When the assistant cleared the gate, he called and told us that he had a few vans following him. Mr. Sutherland left next, and told me to leave five minutes later. I nodded and started the car. Scott was safely nestled in the trunk waiting for me to tell him that he could come out.

Mr. Sutherland's plan worked perfectly. When I drove through the gate, I smiled at the remaining press and drove away sedately. After they were sure that I was alone, they left me in peace. I waited another couple of minutes and then told Scott to come on out. Scott pushed the backseat down and crawled out of the trunk.

He stayed low in the backseat as he asked, "Is anyone following us?"

"Nope. The press doesn't care about 'lil ole me."

"Must be nice."

Scott and I rode in silence as we approached the hotel where he'd have to face his toughest critics - his family.

"Where is that little faggot?" Dad screamed for the fifth time in less than an hour. The woman from the record company tried to calm him and tell him that he was on his way, but my dad was having none of it. I looked over at Bob and Clint and sighed.

"Dad..." I was just going to tell him to relax, but decided to shut up when he glared at me.

"Dave, keep quiet."

"Yes, sir."

Bob looked across the room at me and raised an eyebrow. None of us had ever seen Dad this pissed before. Clint was taking it all in stride. I could tell he could hardly wait to see my dad beat Scott.

I had to say that I was only a little surprised to hear that Scott was gay.

It sure explained a few things. But, I really didn't care. I knew Clint would care though. He was just as homophobic as Dad.

When Scott finally did arrive, my dad rushed over to the door screaming and cursing. Scott flinched a little, and tried to back up as my dad took a swing at him. My dad connected with his first punch, hitting Scott in the stomach before this tall muscular guy stepped in and pushed my dad against the wall.

"Who the fuck are you?" Dad yelled. He tried to rush Scott again, but the mystery man grabbed him and threw him to the ground. He placed his foot on my dad's throat and looked down at him.

"My name is Justin, Mr. Moffat. I'm here to watch over Scott and protect him from you. Now, if you promise to behave, I'll let you up. Do you understand?"

My dad nodded his head and Justin took his foot off his throat. "Now, why don't you have a seat? I feel it may be safer for you."

My dad mumbled, "Fucking faggots," and then sat down in a chair across the room from Scott.

Scott was still doubled over from the punch. Justin rubbed his back and talked quietly to him. Scott nodded his head and the two of them left the room together.

When they were gone, I looked across the room at Bob. I raised an eyebrow and looked at Bob. He nodded back to me and then gestured towards the door. We both stood up and walked out of the room, leaving my dad and Clint to talk amongst themselves.

"So, what do you think?" I asked quietly, once we were out of the room, and beyond my dad's hearing.

"It's a good thing Scott brought Justin. I have a feeling that we would've had to prevent my dad from killing him."

I nodded and looked out the window at the end of the hall. "Scott's a smart guy. He knew that dad was gonna be pissed."

"Yeah. Still, it's nice that he's found someone. Maybe now he'll be a little happier."

"Yeah, but what's gonna happen to the band? Dad's about ready to disown Scott, and if we ever went into the studio, Clint and Scott would be fighting constantly."

"Dad and Clint will learn to live with Scott. They have to. What other choice is there?"

"Are you all right, Scott?" Jeff Hanson asked as he walked into my hotel room. Before Jeff and another man that I didn't recognize had walked into the room, Justin had been standing by the window looking out over the city. Justin looked the two men over and then walked over to shield me from them.

"It's all right, Justin. Jeff is our agent."

"All right." Justin stepped aside and let the two men sit down near me. He looked over at me and nodded. "I'm going to go to the bathroom. If you need anything, yell."

"All right."

I watched Justin walk over to the door of the room and turn the dead bolt before he slipped into the bathroom. Once the door was closed, the man that had accompanied Jeff began to speak.

"Scott, my name is William Evens. I'm the Capitol Records new executive Liaison with the Moffats."

"What happened to Mr. Sutherland?"

"He will no longer be liasing with the band due to the appearance of impropriety," Mr. Evens replied quickly.

"But..."

"It's for the best, Scott," Jeff said cutting me off.

"We're going to be having a press conference in about two hours. You're going to read a prepared statement and then you're going to leave so we can answer a few questions on your behalf."

"All right. What am I supposed to say?"

"We have the statement all written up." Jeff handed me a thin piece of paper.

Slowly, I read the statement over. Not really believing it, I read it again before I looked up at my agent and the record executive.

"I'm not reading this!" I threw the paper down. "I refuse to say that I'm not gay and that Mitchel took advantage of my fragile emotional state. That's not how it happened."

"Let me be blunt, Scott. You will read that statement exactly as it is written at the press conference today."

"I will do no such thing."

"Then Mitchel's dad will lose his job and he will be arrested for embezzlement and fraud."

"What?" I yelled, glaring at Mr. Evens.

"He probably won't be convicted, but by the time he proves his innocence, he and Mitchel will be ruined. Now, if you read the statement Mr. Sutherland will keep his job and everyone is happy. It's your choice."

"But..."

The bathroom door opened and Justin came back into the room. Jeff and Mr. Evens smiled and stood up. "Think about it, Scott. We'll be back in an hour and a half."

When the two men were gone, Justin turned to me and asked, "So what did they want?"

"I'm doing a press conference in a couple of hours. They just wanted to tell me what I should say."

Justin nodded and looked out the window. I reread the statement and thought long and hard. I didn't know what to do. But, what could I do? What choice did I really have?

When the two men came back ninety minutes later, Justin and I followed them to a meeting room that had been set up for the press conference. Justin asked the camera crew if the conference was going to be aired live. When he was told that it was, he called Mitchel. I wanted to stop him, but Jeff wouldn't let me out of the chair.

The press conference started with a Capitol Record's media person introducing Jeff, Mr. Evens and myself to the press. She announced that I would be reading a brief statement and then would be leaving to allow them to answer the questions. I looked down at the speech one last time. I didn't have a choice. I looked into the camera and began.

"Good afternoon." Suddenly, my voice broke. I swallowed hard, and hoped I'd be able to get through this. What would Mitchel think? "Yesterday evening, there were..."

I watched as Scott began reading his speech. He looked nervous, and scared. And I guess he also looked sad somehow. But he was just so cute. I felt my heart racing just seeing him on the TV. I was sure glad that Justin had called to tell me that E! was carrying the press conference.

"Good afternoon." Scott's voice broke slightly, and he paused for a moment before he continued. "Yesterday evening, there were some pictures taken of me with two men. The still pictures with a young man that I don't know appear to show me engaged in a consensual homosexual encounter. This is not the case. The person in the photo was trying to unfasten my pants over my strenuous objections. I fled the scene as soon as I realized that he wanted pictures of me in a compromising situation.

"When I realized what was going on, I fled the scene for the Sutherland residence. It was my intention to seek the counsel of Chris Sutherland, the Executive Vice President of West Coast Operations at Capitol Records. Mr. Sutherland was not at the house when I arrived, but his son, Mitchel Sutherland was. Mitchel invited me in and talked to me about what had happened.

"During a moment of weakness, Mitchel Sutherland seduced me and took advantage of my weakened emotional state. While I consented to the actions of last night, they were the direct result of pressure applied by Mitchel Sutherland. I am not, nor have I ever been gay or bisexual."

"That's all I have to say. Thank you."
